“Yesterday” runs a small flower shop years after what happened to them and the falling out of their ‘friend’. They thought that it would simply be fine, that they are able to move on from what happened.

Still, those flaws followed them, leading them to wear a mask to hide what their actual face is.

“No one must know who I am. From now on, I can never trust those that had ill will in their hearts.”

That is... Until a young man entered the shop, seeking inspiration for his recent piece, and sees a masked individual tending to the flowers.

Surprise! Welcome to Flawed, the surprise March event I've been cooking up since February! This takes place in a different world/universe than One Last Call did, but with a twist: this time, you are the one that decides the fate of our protagonist.

Join Yesterday as they go through their day to day life, speak to their new (and potential) friends, and maybe find it in themselves to accept their flaws and themselves as a whole. Maybe, if you're lucky... You may even win one of our potential visiting clients and their hearts?

These are the mechanics:

Vote on the option to proceed in the story. Remember: majority wins, and your choice matters.

Keep an eye on Yesterday's wilt counter. Make sure it doesn't exceed past 50%! You wouldn't like what happens past 50%.

Make sure to stick to one love interest (if the majority wants to go to one of their routes). Romancing more than one is highly discouraged.

Speaking of love interests, keep an eye on their obsession counter with Yesterday. We can't guarantee their safety if you can't do the same to them, too!

Finally, have fun in interacting with our hosts and the characters! Some may be more receptive to replies than others, but things may change as time goes on, of course.

Unfortunately, though, I won't be hosting the event this time. I will be busy with particular matters to be able to keep an eye on this event, so I'll be entrusting this to a good friend of mine. Please treat him kindly, he's got a short fuse to those that plan on ruining the event for everyone.

The event will be starting by March 10, 2024 at 6 PM (UTC+8) and will end by March 24, 2024. If there are any issues, this will be delayed to March 31, 2024.

You only get one try to get the ending for Flawed. This means that if you got the bad ending, you won't get a retry.

And that... Is the end of Flawed.

Or the one I hosted for my silly event here anyway.

[ TL;DR under read more: The lack of interest and stress I got from irl matters led me to drop the event and ending it early, but! I have a blog made for the sake of continuing/restarting the event.

Please vote on the poll if you want it to be catered to the reader or stick to Yesterday, and be unbiased, too. Vote what you want, and I'll try and make it happen.]

CONTEXT UTC:

So, I know you guys have a lot of questions, and I can't blame you. I know the biggest one in your mind right now, which is:

Why did I end Flawed early?

The reason why I ended Flawed was actually multiple. Please keep in mind that these are for my observations, and overall I'm not blaming anyone for this. I just noticed it and thought I should bring it up lol.

1. Writing for days burnt me out.

Although Flawed is a passion story/project of mine, writing so much burnt me out. And by a lot. There were days I struggled to think of writing because I have other commitments to do, and sometimes its why polls came out super late or super early. I tried to compensate for it by posting 1 poll a day, but when it didn't work, I pushed myself to make more for 1 day.

I wanted so badly for the whole event to flow like a CYOA because by next month (April), I won't be free to host this as I used to with OLC. However, in that process, I burnt myself out to the point I needed to take longer breaks/forget this event.

It sucks. I would not recommend doing this if you think you want to (because it is NOT worth it).

2. Interactions were... Lacking.

This event is interaction heavy, and the reason why is because you guys control the story that Yesterday and others are in. Naturally, this also affects the characters and how I shape Flawed from start to finish. I have a plot line for it, of course, but the interactions were... Not there.

I noticed the usual ones from my mutuals, sure, but there were moments that I felt like I was simply posting to no one. It was unfortunate during the time with Diluc, where I had hoped that some of you would go, but due to complications (ahem, the votes weren't able to decide on going when the deadline was up), I had to write how it's supposed to go with some... Changes.

It also made me feel sad to see that there weren't much (if at all) interactions to Yesterday. Tinuvion received a fair bit, which is nice because he's a little shit (please bully him lol), but Yesterday after the first week and a half just... Didn't get any. At least, in my records.

I'm not saying this to guilt you guys to interact more, but I am saying this because it feels sad for me to see that unlike OLC, this... Flopped. I had a lot of responses + moments planned if it took off that much, but... Oh well. There's always that one story that won't hit for everyone.

And finally:

3. Maybe you guys wanted it to be catered to you, not to an OC.

I had a feeling that, from the start, Flawed may not take off.

Unlike One Last Call (which was a matchup event + story), Flawed was a CYOA but you guys aren't the main focus/MC, Yesterday (my oc) is. I was hoping that with this method, you guys get to play the omnipotent voice and see how far the story can go until it's conclusion.

However, as I hosted the event for the next few days to weeks, I realized that it was simply too difficult. Maybe I wasn't prepared to host this type of format, as ambitious as it is, but I realized that maybe, you guys don't deserve this format and I should've made it catered to a reader insert instead.

It was hard for me to swallow the pill that this event may not be fun for the majority. I knew that having an OC be the MC + canon characters interact with them may be flaky at best (esp the whole OC x Canon being... well. very much a huge "oh dear"), but seeing minimal interaction/interest than my friends were (and people I admire, too. Hi Harmony! o/!!) and realizing that maybe I shouldn't have done this just... Made me regret it.

For that, I'd like to say:

I'm so, so sorry that this event failed. I'm very sorry if you guys expected it to be like OLC: about the reader/reader insert format.

I know it's not right for me to apologize, but I feel that I have to. I let all of you down, and I don't want you guys to be disappointed in something that you all don't like to see in this blog.

So I decided that I'll run this event in its own blog, but here's the thing.

I don't know if I should keep Yesterday in the blog.

I have to open up a poll for this, so here's the options you guys have for it's fate:

If you guys want it to be a reader insert game (aka you are the main star, not Yesterday), I will set up a menu to BUILD your personal darling.

This means that you guys get to decide how darling will look, the gender, their preferences, and even their job. However, this will be for your darling, and if darling dies, you can't use them anymore.

PROS: This is catered to the reader, and thus, you guys are the ones to choose your own destiny. I won't be the one to decide this time, and if the majority agrees on a specific option, your darling will do just that. This is also more open for variety + reader/canon interaction because I know some of you would have a lot of fun being able to see yourselves in the story.

CONS: When your darling dies, you get the chance to restart. However, the game will continue on with a new darling you guys will have to make and the stats reset to zero. The characters will also mention your past darling, and you'll have to restart from scratch. I still need to tweak this, but just know that it is VERY tricky for you if your first darling dies.

If you guys want it to stay the same (Yesterday is the MC), the format will remain the same.

This means what you witnessed here in the blog WILL happen on the other blog.

PROS: You guys get to either continue or restart with Yesterday's story, and with newfound knowledge, you get to choose more options that were previously unavailable. This also opens up to you all being able to essentially shape Yesterday's outlook + what'll happen to them, because you are the one guiding them to their happy ending.

CONS: This one does not offer a restart like the reader insert (one try only), and this could result to another "this'll flop because many people aren't interested". We've seen it happen here, so please decide wisely.

If you guys want BOTH, the format will be different as you have the option to build a darling (reader insert) or stick to Yesterday's story.

This means there will be a new system for both options to be available, alongside new menus!

PROS: You guys get to have a chance of an 'easy route' or 'hard route' and all of you can use your experience/s to get your desired ending for either one <3 go crazy lol

CONS: If you choose one of the two options for both, the latter will be locked. That's the only consequence I have for this one tbh.

So yes, I'd like to say thank you, and sorry for the fail of Flawed on this blog. I wish I could give you all the quality like in OLC, but there were... Too many things to consider. Sobs.

If you guys still want to continue, please lmk. I worked hard on Flawed and I still want to continue, but this time, its a permanent event and will be on my own pace.

POLL RESULT—! > The twins' bar. Maybe catching up with a friend will help them feel at ease!

Checking the time, they realized that they have some spare time to be able to visit the twins. They weren't planning to head back anytime soon, and the bar was nearby, so they went off to check and see if the place was open.

Walking down the pavement, YESTERDAY mulled over what they were told by ALICE. So, they reminded her of someone, huh? They didn't exactly knew who, though. They aren't sociable after what happened all those years ago.

They sighed.

No use to mull over the past, they thought to themselves. After all, what happened has happened. There's no point to think that I could've changed the outcome.

Raising their head, they looked up to see the sign of the bar. 'Crescentium', it reads. A bit simple on the name, but they could care less.

Pushing the door, they walked inside, and they were hit with a whiff of the scent of carnations and even coffee.

Ah, I think I might have a new place to visit.

There were already people inside, but they were talking amongst themselves or were too focused on what they were doing to notice the florist. Avoiding a few packed tables, they settled on a spare two person seat and placed down their belongings onto the table.

Looking around them once more, they couldn't help but admire the interior of the bar. It was like any other bar they'd expect to visit, but it was well-lit and had a few trinkets related to stars and astrology. Hell, there were even comets hanging on the ceiling like chandeliers, too!

It made YESTERDAY smile from behind their mask. It looked so... Pretty.

Maybe unnatural, but still appealing.

"... Excuse me, miss?"

They jolted, whipping their head to see—

"... Is the seat across you taken?"

Oh, no.

"A- Ah, no, no! Please, you can take it," they stated in a panic, chuckling nervously. They were probably looking like a panicked cat, especially with how the blonde raised an eyebrow.

Oh my God, save me.

"Hm... I see. I'm sorry if I gave you a scare."

Taking his seat across YESTERDAY, the blonde stranger placed down his things on his side as well, though he didn't look as rattled as his newfound seatmate. Pulling out a book, he flipped a few pages to see where he left off.

...

God, YESTERDAY felt embarrassed to be in the bar now. They took back what they said. This was too embarrassing.

Still, they held on and stayed put. It would be even more embarrassing if they decided to ditch the guy after he sat across them, for God's sake.

...

The awkward silence between them began to set in, but unlike the florist, the stranger wasn't fazed. It became more obvious when the waitress approached them to take their orders.

"Hi, welcome to Crescentium! What would you two like?"

The stranger looked up towards the waitress.

"A mocha and tiramisu. Large, please."

She wrote down the order, nodding to YESTERDAY's direction.

"Um... A frappe, please. Medium."

With another nod, she jotted down the orders and informed the two of when they will come before leaving, presumably to get them sorted out.

The silence soon returned, though both parties were not willing to speak a word. It was almost humiliating for both to be in it (or for them, mostly, as they couldn't read minds), and especially with what happened before this came to light.

(YESTERDAY should've been more aware. How careless of them. If they knew this was going to happen, they should've went home. )

[ WILT ↑ 3+ ! ]

Despite their mind outright calling out the shame of their actions, their orders came in swiftly. YESTERDAY took their drink and took a few sips, noticing that he put his book away.

...

Huh. He's reading 'Challenger Deep'. I wonder if he likes it?

Still, they kept their mouth shut and averted their eyes, putting their half-finished drink down. It was still scalding hot, but they could care less if they had a damn say in their embarrassment.

And so, the awkward silence continues... And it was not going to let up anytime soon.

Their yellow eye turned to the waitress, watching her as she served up the drinks and food for everyone else. It was almost like an art in motion, the fluidity of her actions akin to water lazily moving to hit the shore at night.

Truly, it was an intriguing sight. It would be nice to learn just how experienced she is to be able to make it look like a finished artwork.

Though, that simply ended as the two turned and made eye contact. She offered them a smile and made a gesture of getting the tab, to which YESTERDAY can only nod.

(They wanted to get out. They can't handle the awkwardness between them.)

Watching the waitress swing by the counter to grab the check, she swiftly got back to their table and placed it down. The florist had all but grabbed the money and tip in a hurry, finishing their drink before they stood up to leave with their belongings.

They didn't want to speak to those two, but they hoped that the tip they left was enough to compensate for her troubles.

BONUS: NEXT ACTION—! > Library. Picking up a book or two would be a nice change of pace.

After the disaster in the cafe, they went to the library. The librarian, LISA, wasn't available, but they saw that her assistant was there. ELLA MUSK, a teenager, who specialized in German and Swedish (which was a rare sight for them).

Speaking to ELLA, they managed to gather information of where the books they wanted, which was in the guide section of the library. Although she was a bit of an odd girl, she was nice and told them where to go.

So here they were, heading through the shelves to gather books for growing exotic plants and investments, catching a rare sight in their journey.

Strangely enough, they noticed a tall man standing before the shelves in the history section. It looked like he was with his lover, with his arm wrapped around her waist as he grabbed a book about tea leaves. Thankfully, they were speaking quietly to each other, but YESTERDAY caught the look of admiration on the lady's face.

... They fit together like a glove, they thought with a smile. How cute.

Turning around, they continued walking, taking note of the appearance of the couple— seeing a guy who (quite possibly) came back from a corporation with his brown hair tied to a low ponytail bonding with his wife (who they suspect to be working at a cafe) was a nice surprise.

Sifting through the area, they caught sight of the section they were looking for, which was about business and gardening. Sighing in relief, they grabbed the books they needed: a flower language book, investment tips, and even branding.

It wasn't long until they went back to the counter to check them out, signing their name under the borrower's section and leaving their address and signature.

[ They needed to return the books by next week (Day 8). If they forget, then that could lead to trouble. ]

...

Carrying their things, they left the library, pondering over where they needed to go next.

POLL RESULT—! > Do a final check on the shop. Better safe than sorry.

Although YESTERDAY had faith in themselves... They knew checking the shop again would put them at ease. If they felt that something is out of place, then they can say that they did their job early and made sure to not miss a single spot.

Taking a deep breath, they began to look around and check the shop from inside out. Sure, they wasted hours of sleep for this (and possibly some bits of themselves because they realized far, far too late of the inconvenience of boxes and unpacking), but they felt confident that they have everything prepared.

So after a final check and ascertaining that everything was in order, they turned their heels to leave to get some rest. They were confident that the first day upon opening that it wouldn't end up in... Chaos.

DAY 1

YESTERDAY was definitely in a somewhat better mood after doing their final run last night, as they were met with some pleasant faces upon opening the shop. They first met with their supplier (not suppliers, for one is on leave), Tinuvion. He was a grumpy little fella, but they can tell that he took his job seriously.

He had given them the pointers of the eatery and what to expect at the district the two were on, citing that (by his words), "there's not much competition out for the bigger floral shops down the hall, run by that sassy little lady name Chiori. I'd be cautious about getting under her radar if I were you."

Chiori is often known for her work in the textile community, but they knew damn well that she's also known in the floral community. God knows that she has a hand into weaving both fashion and flora enough that getting into the thick of the competition, much less outshining her is a crazy feat.

So here they were, speaking to one of the few customers in the shop. Some were a lot older, though, but they expressed that YESTERDAY looked far more approachable and complimented the shop's atmosphere, especially during the afternoon when the orders were getting in for the more complicated orders.

(It would seem that your choice of checking the night before helped with your newfound confidence.)

Although it was still slow, YESTERDAY kept a tally of the reviews and looked relieved to see that they were getting some people's attention. That was, until...

Footsteps echoed as a new individual entered the store. Turning their head, their yellow eyes met the striking color of red.

"Excuse me, but is this Rosée Matinale?" he asked, his voice catching YESTERDAY by surprise. Perhaps they weren't anticipating someone like him to be in the store, but they put on a brave face. They can't lose their chance now.

"Of course! My name is YESTERDAY, I'm the owner. What can I do for you, sir?"

The red head seem to pause, his eyes shifting to the flowers. It was like he was trying to assess what each of them are, but he didn't knew exactly where to begin.

"I'm simply here to ask for... Recommendations," he began, his voice stressing the last word, "I'm opening up a business just down the street, across the cafe that the twin stars run. I'm sure you've seen it, have you?"

"Ah, you must mean the one ran by Aether and Lumine," they replied, nodding. "Of course. That's been the talk of the district ever since I arrived. Is there something wrong?"

Catching the hint behind the question, the stranger shakes his head.

"No, I simply wanted to know what type of flower suits best for... A cafe, in easier terms. I've been thinking of opening one as I'm a bartender, but I don't exactly know what flowers will fit, especially ones that won't be too overpowering by scent or appearance."

He pulls up a photo for YESTERDAY to look over, their brows furrowed in thought. It did look like a typical cafe, but from the interior alone, it gave the sense of light academia and openness that most lacked. It looked akin to a home than a business, if anything.

Hm...

"Do you have anything that you can suggest? I only need 2 bouquets for the lobby and tables, that's all."

YESTERDAY can only smile. This one is easy, they thought.

ALBEDO'S ROUTE: THE BIRTH OF IMPERFECTIONS [ DAY 7: BEGIN ]

It had been days since they've seen ALBEDO again.

Now, YESTERDAY is no fool. They spent the past few days assessing orders and making sure they were well taken care of. That was something they weren't going to forget so quickly.

Maybe he forgot his order, they thought, shrugging as they focused on their job.

Though, it was short lived when they heard the familiar chime of the bell at their door, signifying that someone had came in their shop.

"Excuse me," ALBEDO said, adjusting the coat he wore with a nod. "I'm here to receive my order for the flowers."

"Ah, of course! I'll be right there with you," YESTERDAY replied, raising their head to look at him before they looked away to get to the bouquets.

"Let's see, they're... Chrysanthemum and Gerbera Daisies..." they murmured, retrieving the two bouquets and handing it over to the blonde. "Here they are, wrapped and ready. I made sure that these are as fresh as I can get them."

He nodded in response, retrieving the flowers without fuss. Though, he did raise an eyebrow at the arrangement.

Oh, no. Is there an issue in them?

"... How curious," he said, his lips quirking up to a small smile. "I wasn't expecting for you to choose white chrysanthemums. you seem to have some particular tastes in your arrangement."

Oh. It's just the flowers.

"Ah, well... I thought that the meaning fits you, sir," they replied, scratching the back of their neck. "You seem to be the type to be honest, so it would only make sense for me to choose that, no?"

"Perhaps," he nods in agreement, humming. "As for the Gerbera Daisies, I'm quite intrigued. What made you choose these, and in pink as well?"

The florist paused. There was a lot of reasons for them to say why, but that may not be something that he wants to hear. Pondering over his question, they closed their eye to think.

"... Well," they began, pondering over what to say carefully. "I chose these flowers because I want to..."

ALBEDO seems surprised. It looked like he was expecting something else, but all he can do was let out an amused chuckle and simply shrug. Though, he did seem rather amused than offended.

"I see... I suppose it's normal for you to feel that way, then. I thought that it was because of something else."

"Speaking of which, how is your studio coming along?" YESTERDAY asked, raising an eyebrow. "You didn't elaborate on it too much last time, so I've been thinking about asking you. I've never went to one before, if you can believe it."

The man hummed, pondering over what to say. Adjusting his sleeves, ALBEDO faces YESTERDAY more properly, his body leaning a bit forward to relax as he faced them head on.

"It's taking a while, for starters," he began, squinting a bit at the flowers before his eyes softened. "Although, perhaps it's due to a... Project of mine. You may think of it as a small task, if you will."

This perked up YESTERDAY's attention. A small task? From the looks of things, he did seem a bit reluctant to elaborate on it.

"Do tell," they said, nodding— as though to encourage him, which made him smile in a bit of amusement.

"I've been drafting up a painting for the studio. Have you ever tried to paint on walls, miss?"

... Wait, that's a thing?

"No, I'm afraid not," they replied, shaking their head. "I've never thought that people would ever paint their walls on a whim. Have you been thinking about doing it, hm?"

"For a few months, more or less. However, I have yet to decide on what reference I should start with," he explained, crossing his arms. "If I were to start painting on the wall, I usually begin with one from a canvas. I find it easier for me to frame how it should look with a finished product."

ALBEDO's eyes shifted to the plants, his smile drooping to a frown. It was clear that he was trying to think of a way to put his thoughts into words, especially with a serious matter like art block.

"Is it why you decided to come to my shop?" YESTERDAY asked, a tad bit blunt in their words, but they were trying to be honest. "To... Seek inspiration?"

He nodded.

"Hm... I see. If I may, I have a suggestion on how you can deal with this predicament," they suggested. "I doubt that it could resolve everything right away, but I believe it could be a start."

"Oh?" he looked over, raising an eyebrow out of curiosity. "Let's hear it. I'm open for suggestion."

"That's good. If that's the case..."

Out of all the men, ALBEDO was the only one that didn't struck them as far too opportunistic nor distant. Even when he looked as though he didn't want to be near anyone, they can tell that he was still an okay guy. Maybe they even hoped that he wouldn't be so cruel, just like what they feared him to be.

They doubt that it would happen, but they weren't prepared for such an outcome... If that ever happened, of course.

Speaking of, that order of his... I need to get to it soon, lest I end up forgetting and tell him to come back at another day when I get back home, they mused, their eyes drifting over to the next batch of flowers and their meanings. Though, they stopped at one for Gerbera Daisies.

... Gerbera daisies symbolize innocence, purity, cheerfulness, nd loyal love. Some believed that it can lessen the sorrows and stresses of everyday life...

Gerbera daisies aren't a common flower in the district. That was something they told to their previous client, and they knew that is the truth of the matter. However, this didn't mean that they can't grow some and even get the remaining ones they had for them.

... Alright, I've decided.

Tucking a bookmark on the book and closing it shut, they nodded once in determination, standing up from their seat.

"I need to get those daisies and prepare their orders tomorrow."

And no one will stop them from doing such a thing.

In the midst of the chaos the florist was going through, the familiar sounds of papers being moved and a paint brush going across the canvas simply echoed in the empty studio.

Save for the lone painter in the room, who seems content to put his focus on the artwork before him... Even if it looked no less than the ones he had been doing for years.

With a huff, ALBEDO simply grabbed his half-finished painting and yanked the canvas from the easel, tossing the thing to the side like it mattered little for him. The thud echoed in the room, but he remained quiet, eerily still for that matter.

How bothersome. What was it that made him so lost in his work? What was stopping him from thinking of something to draw for days?

He huffed, raising his hand to sift through his hair. Truly, such a nuisance to think about. He had hoped that moving with ALICE would've yielded some better results, but that blasted plague seem to follow him.

Looking at the window, he frowned, pondering over his recent interactions. Not many perked his interest nor caught his eye, except for them.

That masked florist, as he penned it, was the one that caught his attention. Not in the way many would think, but because of their mannerisms.

Socially anxious, introverted, and a tad bit awkward... Yes, those are unappealing for many, but ALBEDO can tell that it is far more than those things. It's what made them appear in his mind, especially during the first he's seen them.

His hand wandered over to his pockets, grabbing the sketch he drew of them in a loose sheet of paper. The sketch was rushed, but it wasn't bad— at least, to his standards.

"... What a curious mask they have," he murmured, tracing over the mask— hidden eye and a big, lopsided smile. It was creepy, but he found it intriguing.

Truly, what was it that they hid behind that? He had hoped that he'd be able to ask them, but it may not be possible now.

...

"Time will tell," he murmured. "Time will tell."

For now, he must paint.

He needed to finish a piece today.

Discarding what they bought would be far too cruel, not to mention a waste of their money. Although, they had half of their mind to give it away, with how they felt about it.

... But using them won't be AS bad.

Setting up the canvas and easel, they grabbed their paints and brush, focusing their attention on the blank canvas. They tried to think of what to paint, but they were coming up empty.

...

Well, this is quite a dilemma.

With a shrug, they decided to paint a portrait of themselves, as they didn't knew anyone that would exactly fit in a portrait.

As they paint on the canvas, they let their mind wander. They had a lot to think about yesterday, especially with the two men they had a chance to meet.

DILUC and that blonde man... Those two caught their eye and refused to leave in their mind. It was insane, with how they can't seem to forget those two.

Although, they were curious of that blonde. Even when they had the chance to speak to him, they couldn't. It was like something was stopping them from ever giving the man a chance to speak for himself.

...

That's it. Maybe it IS their reluctance. They were NOT going to let this bother them if they had the chance to speak to him again.

Finishing up the half painted portrait, they placed a sheet over it and heard the door knock.

... Who is knocking at this hour? I just closed up early.

Moving towards the door, they opened it, looking to who it was.

"... Ah, are you the owner of the store?"

It's him. Oh, Gods, it's him.

And it seems he's with... A young kid?

"Ooh! Big brother ALBEDO, they're the one ALICE mentioned! The one with the mask!"

YESTERDAY could only blink in confusion. They were trying to process what happened, who he was, and how in God's name has he found THEIR store.

Oh, dear God, have mercy.

With a deep breath, they looked away, a bit embarrassed.

"... Yes, I'm the owner," they replied with a nervous chuckle. "I'm so sorry if I didn't answer the door immediately. I was busy and closed up early— its a slow day."

ALBEDO (as the child called out) hummed thoughtfully.

"It's alright. I've been thinking about going to your shop for a while, as miss Chiori's has been swamped with customers for a personal order."

Their eyes widened. It seems that her shop is ever so busy...

"Of course! Here, let me open the door. Please, go in."

Pulling the door open, they let the duo inside, closing it right after to head to the counter. The blonde man looked around and noticed the covered portrait.

Ah. Drats.

Though, thankfully... He stayed quiet and focused on them again.

"I've been thinking of opening an art studio down the block," he explained, patting the child's head. "And I've been struggling to figure out what flowers befit such a venue. I wanted to speak to miss Chiori, but since she's swamped with orders, I went here."

An art studio...?

"Ah... Hm, I see. How many would you like?"

"3, please. And perhaps 2 types as well. I don't mind with what arrangement you make of the flowers."

2 types of flowers, and 3 bouquets... That is going to be tough. Not only do they have to remember the meaning of the flowers, but they needed to make sure that they harmonized well.

"I'm sorry, but... I'll pass."

YESTERDAY looked hesitant as they said those words, their eye drifting away from his. Clutching onto their belongings, they shifted their feet away from the stranger.

"I plan on heading back to my shop, anyways," they added, chuckling nervously. "Maybe another time?"

...

They couldn't tell if he was happy about being denied or not, but when they looked up to see his reaction, he still kept that smile on his face. If anything, he seems rather... Bemused.

"Hm... I'll hold your word to it, little orchid," he replied, nodding. "I'll head on out, then. I'm sure we can meet again."

[ AFFECTION ↑ 3+ ! ]

Watching him leave, YESTERDAY relaxed and sighed audibly, this time turning around to continue walking. Returning was a lie, of course, but being able to speak to another person that knew their struggles was a nice change of pace.

It ironically made them feel better, too.

As they walked down the path, they reached the park and went to the nearest bench, putting down their things before they sat down. There isn't a lot of people around this time, which was a relief, as they knew damn well that they weren't feeling up to anymore additional interactions.

Though, as they watched other people interact, they noticed a familiar individual walking while holding hands with a woman. She was a bit taller than him, her black hair billowing in the wind and the coat she wore hung loosely on her shoulders.

And the one she was with was the owner of the eatery, who seem to be quite exasperated over something, judging by how he was talking and gesturing to her with a sharp look in his eye.

... Huh.

It's a rare sight to actually see him go out. From what people told them, TINUVION only leaves the eatery when he needed to make a couple urgent runs to the department store, in an emergency, or for his spouse. And from the looks of things, the third was the case.

What's cute, though, is even when the two bonded like they were arguing over (quite possibly) the dumbest thing in the world, they were holding hands. And those hands both had rings, too— same design, but the gems were in different colors.

One of teal, and the other of purple.

What an adorable couple.

As the couple left the florist be, YESTERDAY focused their attention on the books and picked it up. They grabbed a few in the hopes they can get to some reading, lest they wind up forgetting and procrastinate on returning it.

Though, as they looked through the books they bought, they had realized too late that they had three new books that wasn't in their possession.

Quite a strange conundrum. When did they get these? Do they even recall getting these books before? And the titles were odd, since they had been faded from the cover... Or, some of it, anyway.

"Alter Ego, Rain Burst, and Velvety Susurration," they muttered, eyeing each of the covers. They looked nice, sure, but they damn well knew something is up.

...

Putting the books away, they grabbed the one they sought out to read first, this time to open it and start focusing on the contents.

It's only for the sake of learning, they thought to themselves. It's only that. Nothing else.

In the midst of it all, their mind wandered back to the three men they had met. Each of them were intriguing, but they didn't exactly knew whether to trust them or not from their behaviors alone.

The first customer they had while they worked, the redhead, was one of the few that was easy to satisfy. They recalled he had a business to open, but something about him made them a bit cautious. Perhaps it was due to his manners, or even his nature, but they felt that they have seen him before.

The blonde stranger was someone they still remember— ALBEDO was his name. Although he was nice, when they spoke to him back then, it felt like they were speaking in a void, with him only listening and not expressing much to respond. It was quite eerie, as they swore that his eyes looked a bit dead when they had a chance to look at him.

And the third... The stranger was charming, that's for sure, but he was definitely shady. YESTERDAY isn't stupid; they were at a vulnerable state, and he had the capabilities of pushing them to do what they don't want. It was a miracle he let them off, because his mere presence was making them panicked.

Though, they couldn't help but frown. Their judgement on these men were harsh— they were only strangers, after all. They are people, and they shouldn't have thought of them like these three were murderers in disguise. But as they red through the books they borrowed, their mind wandered to each of those interactions more and more.

It was almost ironic, with how they swore to the heavens that they would never resort to overthinking to the highest degree. That was in the past, but here they are, doing the same thing again.

Though, if there was one that they would probably have the most faith in without thinking that he'd actually hurt them...

ALBEDO's brows furrowed.

"Is that so? How interesting... I suppose I'll take those instead."

From the sounds of it, he was hoping for another set instead. Though, you couldn't honestly tell if that was a good thing or not, since he signed the contract and paid in advance before leaving with Klee.

Oh well. Only time will tell.

Seeing them off, YESTERDAY turned their head to the canvas. There is only so much time they can spend painting on it, but for some reason, something was nagging at them.

Maybe it was wise for them to heed to the sensible part in their brain and hide it. They didn't want to deal with unnecessary surprises, after all.

Lifting up the canvas, YESTERDAY trudged onwards and upstairs, aiming to hide them somewhere a bit... Safe. Maybe someplace no one would look.

There isn't much that can serve that purpose, except for that room.

And they knew that that room befits the requirements of keeping secrets in.

They walked down the hall and kicked the door with their foot, coughing at the webs and dust meeting their face. Still, they walked onwards and placed it down on the wall, looking at the boxes that remained sealed.

...

Those aren't their belongings. They shouldn't tamper with it.

Yes, they shouldn't. It would be wise that they'd leave right now. Just to be safe.

Those words that speak to them, almost in hushed tones and murmurs amongst themselves.

That Façade, too, was another.

Quite a living, breathing, constant reminder of something so unnatural. Something no man can withstand, nor can he live without a single shred of thought.

That Façade speaks of many a tales, some more absurd than others. It says it like its the law, its unmoving face remaining the same when questioned by others.

POLL RESULT—! > Hydrangea. Soft colors always look the best!

"... Hydrangea. They're very soft and it fits the theme quite nicely, and I'm sure I have a few that won't be too strong in it's scent. Would you like for me to get them, sir?"

The redhead seem to blink, almost like he was processing what he was told. After a while, however, he nodded. His expression remained neutral, but they thought it may just be his thing.

After all, how can one read a stranger when he looks absolutely exhausted to be anywhere?

"Yes, please. Here's the payment for the bouquets."

Placing down the money on the counter, YESTERDAY nodded and began to work. Although, they swore that they weren't lacking in white ones... How odd.

I'll have to get this settled soon...

"Here you are, sir! I hope they're to your liking!"

With a pleased hum, he took it and nodded, turning his heels to take his leave.

I suppose that's one way to get a customer.

The rest of the day after had been normal. YESTERDAY was busy taking care of a rush order and met a new companion, a doctor, and even had a few more orders to take care of.

To them, day 1 went smoothly... And it was probably for the best that it did, for their sake.

DAY 2

After dealing with a few issues, they were in the middle of taking care of the orders. It's a slow day, but not that it bothers the owner too much.

Placing their recent batch on the counter, they looked over at the recent clients and what they needed, crossing their arms in thought. Maybe they're overthinking things, but...

Hm... I'm still new in the town, so should I go out and speak to people? But there may be a client that come by without my knowledge...

They sighed. Making decisions is never their forte, not when their curiosity is the one that drove it. Still, though...

Ah, fuck it.

It didn't took long for them to swiftly head to the door, close it, turn the sign to 'closed for lunch' and locked it.
