I fully belive that Elias wanted to jump after Rorke when he let him go, but was held back by the others. I mean he also only let go after Merrick told him like 2 or 3 times. Can't tell me he didn't want to go after him to get him out directly. He nust didn't because as aforementioned he was held back and he also had to think of the boys, can't leave them alone like this, not in a preventable death

"Held back" aka Merrick just kinda tossed Elias over his shoulder and held him like a really pissed toddler.

My favorite idea is that Elias hesitated dropping Rorke (Even when Merrick was up there going "Drop him girlie.") and the reason he did is because he thought of his kids and didn't want to leave them. (The thing that kinda settled his choice.)

Fun fact they did search for a good couple weeks post-fall and the only reason they didn't find him was because he'd been captured like hours after. (So even if the Ghosts started looking right away... he'd still be gone.)

This blog belongs to Queue (Q to people it's close with), an Addison that sells stationery supplies of all kinds! It uses it/its pronouns and is a very organised, analytical individual. Little side hc:

The hunting trips from Elias and the boys, started as little camping weekends when the boys were smaller, when ever Elias was home, so that mom could have a weekend all to herself once in a while and Elias got some quality time with the kids, they later just evolved into hunting trips when Elias realised that shit would hit the fan at somepoint, so he took those as a moment to show them how to survive if it does, so that they could fend for themselves. Tho he might've upped the level when he got to know that they (or atleast Hesh) are interested in joining the army when adults.
