𝑨𝒓𝒓𝒂𝒏𝒈𝒊𝒏𝒈 𝒆𝒎𝒐𝒕𝒊𝒐𝒏𝒔 𝒊𝒏𝒕𝒐 𝒘𝒐𝒓𝒅𝒔. How was he supposed to do that without knowing what it was? Kaveh's heart raced at the moment of reflection, and his cheeks met a faint dusting of pink, but one thing he was great at - was deflecting. In response to comments about how Alhaitham was brought up in every conversation, he never considered or shared that it might not be suitable to do that - even with a best friend.

To be constantly aware of them, to think of them, and to consider things that were second nature to their way of life and routines. A particular alignment of place mats or shoes, his favourite mug, coffee blend, and bringing home food to ensure he ate. Several elements of care went beyond what was agreed on when he took up residence here. If Kaveh were to be honest with himself... it was something he always knew but never entirely expressed.

Was it just guilt from the past? A friendship they once had?

Was that a case of him not believing he was deserving of anything good? Based on the belief that he broke his family apart, he would self-sabotage himself - jeopardizing something unmoving, unchanging? They offered stability to each other regardless of what Alhaitham was to him. So, was it worth the risk? Could this have the potential to make matters worse?

Likewise, he might risk making things more difficult if he never expressed these feelings - annoyed by Alhaitham's lack of communication. Should he? Is he the one who should speak first? 

Maybe he should take the initiative for once; I'm often the one who initiates conversations... granted, they don't always proceed smoothly. 

However, he already knew what the answer was to his own statement. To proceed, this would have to be on his shoulders. His knowledge of Alhaitham had some flaws, but those flaws sometimes proved beneficial and vice versa for both of them.

Everything, good and bad, from the day they met to the near moments, the glances and brief exchanges in their youth which slowly built the foundation for their friendship. In addition to the more common bickering, there was also laughter, even if it was briefly exchanged. It warmed him to see him smile at times—"Alhaitham!" His determination was evident as he stepped into the house. "Alhaitham, I need to speak with you." Based on a quick survey, it would seem he wasn't in the shared space or at his desk. The bedroom. Approaching with confidence - for now and, in politeness, he knocks. But the door is ajar, but he rarely enters without permission and always announces his presence.

Accidentally overhearing Alhaitham’s late night phone call was one thing Kaveh didn’t plan on. But hearing those words spur from his literally cold-as-ice tongue made him question his existence. Alhaitham?? Being affectionate with someone???? Saying ‘I love you’ back??? Was Kaveh about the be called up to celestia and live his remaining life with the primodial one??

Okay it’s not even about the fact that he called them darling. OR THE FACT THAT HE SAID I LOVE YOU BACK. Even though those facts alone were something he desperately need to talk about later. But one thing Kaveh was mostly surprised at was the fact that someone wanted to be affectionate with him.

That made him wonder. Like the green haired moron does literally nothing but sit and read. Without his pretty face, perfect brawns, and outstandingly smart brain, he would be nothing. No but seriously, did you ever see Alhaitham taking a step forward to start a conversation? No, exactly! In fact he’s the one that takes the initiative to stop them.

So from now on, Kaveh decided to make it his life mission to find out who exactly is willing to suffer for the sake of being with Alhaitham.

Going to his lists of candidates he has…uhm. He can’t really think of anyone right now rather than the librarian that spends 24/7 in the library. I mean he guessed they do have one thing in common. But no let’s cross that out.

Oh yeah! Alhaitham was in the student council. He was there as secretary! Okay that opened up a few spots for some people Alhaitham could be dating.

3. Student council head of sports department, Dehya

Notes: possibility -100%. Definitely not. Rumour spreading around that she’s dating Dunyazard. Ship them sm ngl if she turned out to he dating Alhaitham I’ll kill him for ruining my ship. But overall definitely not.

4. Student council president, [ Name ]

Notes: possibility 25%. Nah bro they too good for him. They’re literally the definition of social butterfly and he’s likes the opposite. So many ppl chasing after them fr so if they turned out to be taken by Alhaitham, I’ll personally go back to celestia myself.

So far that was the list! It was okay so far but he needed more evidence. The one with most percentage on his list was Nilou. He’ll have to ask around to find more candidates too. But he was sure that the list of candidates wouldn’t be more than 5.

Before you questioned Kaveh to why didn’t he just asked Alhaitham, it’s because he would just stare at him blatantly and said “It’s not your problem” ! Honestly, getting an answer from Alhaitham aside for calculus matters is extremely difficult.

He did his research and observations. Alhaitham goes to the library every day (literally). He spends his time there reading the same kind of shit he does at home, staying quietly at a remote corner, away from all the other students.

There was no way this man is taken. The problem is he doesn’t even try. Like at all. 0 efforts. If Kaveh was his lover, he would’ve dump his ass in public and let him suffer the embarrassment. The worst part about that is the fact that he probably won’t even care!

After what seemed like 30 minutes, Kaveh decided that all was hopeless and finally went his merry away. Ah, if only he stayed just a minute more. Then he wouldn’t have missed your approaching figure heading towards the man whose nose is stuck in a book.

“Hi.” A small smile graced your lips, your eyes melt into those turquoise hues, one that reeked of fondness and admiration.

No words of greetings has yet to leaves his tongue, but the way he scooted over to the right, indicating you too sit by him was more than enough.

“So, when are we going to tell him?” Alhaitham averted his gaze from his book unto you. His eyes slightly squinted, showcasing evidence of him clearly thinking.

“Is it really equivalent for him to know?” Your boyfriend asked, earning a soft chuckle from you.

“Statically speaking, not really. But the way he’s searching for candidates is so hilarious and amusing to watch, don’t you think, darling?” Alhatham lifted his book up to eye level, covering the dust of pink that shimmered around his features.

He pondered awhile before replying “Ah you’re not wrong. It is quite the fun to see him run around chasing for some bit of evidence. A mastermind are you, my love?” Now it was your turn to flush shades of red. You can see the smile of adoration on his eyes cascading through the shades of his irises.

Times like these are where you love him most. Where the two of you sit in the presence of one another, quietly scheming and watching that friend of yours running around like a detective on a case. Seeing him desperately looking for the answer when it is right in front of him, sitting cross legged and maneuvering the most amusing smile.

Al Haitam who wakes up in the middle of the night to find Kaveh and yn baking cookies.

Ohhh my gosh imagine... (this also got longer than I thought but I could stop myself from brainrotting soooo enjoy <3). And as a preface to this drabble: Flustered Alhaitham is my favorite genre fr.

"Cookies"

Alhaitham is woken up by some banging and drilling sounds coming from the kitchen. Naturally, his mind wanders to Kaveh first thing. Because who else would be insane enough to cause such a ruckus at 3 am in the morning?

At first, Alhaitham pulls his pillow over his head in order to try and muffle the annoying sounds. He definitely doesn't want to sleep with his noise-canceling headphones again since he is unable to sleep on the side with them.

Eventually, he finds it too uncomfortable to press his pillow to his head and decides to get up to give Kaveh the scolding of a lifetime.

He practically tramples to the kitchen, not even putting in the effort to put a shirt on before, because of how furious he is and how much he wants the noise to stop.

"Kaveh! Have you ever considered that some people are trying to get an adequate amount of undisturbed sleep?" Alhaitham starts shouting as he walks along the hallway and turns right to enter the kitchen with balled fists and eyebrows furrowed in anger.

"You're unbelievable. What are you even-" he continues his tirade before being interrupted by someone running into him and effectively shutting him up immediately. And it was none other than you. With flour on your cheek and those innocent-looking eyes, he could fall for again and again.

"Cookies. We're baking cookies... Oh, I'm sorry, did we wake you up?" you ask innocently. Alhaitham doesn't want to say it but seeing you makes his anger dissolve into thin air. You could wake him anytime and he'd be content. Kaveh on the other hand...?

Okay but fr, idk inuyasha but yandere time traveling!alhaitham is a fun concept with a demon!reader. I'm gonna make sht up since I've never watched the show completely so this is gonna be different from InuYasha

Yan!Alhaitham who made a deal with the demon!reader: he gets time traveling to complete his linguistics thesis about King Deshret while the reader gets to have his "heart".

Alhaitham trusts in his abilities as a scholar, hence, he didn't directly ask a cheat code for an early graduation. Plus, he thinks time traveling is far more useful in the longterm.

You often joked that he should've taken the easy route cause you would've asked him for his fingernails instead– albeit you'd likely draw it out of him in a more torturous and sadistic manner– but it's a lot less permanent than a heart, right?

Alhaitham chuckled.

He found you funny. It should be concerning that the only person that could make him chuckle is a demon, but he had been dubbed a lunatic several times that this fact did not faze him.

You dangled around the roof of his house whenever no one is looking. You'd ask for some daily commodities like apples– but never beans. Sometimes, your requests for the mundane makes him forget that you're not human. Sometimes, the smile you give him makes him slyly cover the blush in his face with a solemn cough.

Sometimes, the way you listen to him talk about his dreams makes him forget that you're only after one thing.

Still, the dire consequence attached when trading your heart away is that you'll become permanently apathetic. He wouldn't be able to feel anything unless he is close to the demon that acquired his heart.

That... And he's technically corrupted by forbidden knowledge.

Yan!Alhaitham completes his thesis, got full marks, and the deal was done. Demon!reader leaves him immediately, cackling as they thank the foolish mortal for even giving them something as vital as his heart.

He couldn't smell flowers anymore.

He couldn't taste food anymore.

He feels sick... But isn't at the same time.

His vision is grey. His tone is dull. His emotional reactions are timed and fake.

But he's efficient.

That's what mattered to him. Efficiency.

At least, it did.

After the archon quests, he decided to take a vacation. He leaves a note, saying something along the lines of "Alhaitham has passed away." in his desk for Kaveh to find before moving on.

He conjures up a portal somewhere 50 years down the line.

Then he felt it.

A heartbeat.

He looked around frantically– Alhaitham hasn't panicked this much in YEARS– his feet immediately scurried to find the source.

Alhaitham stops in his tracks as he saw you smiling at Aether, holding a bouquet of white roses with you. Of course, he expected to see the traveler alive and well for they've always been immortal– but what left him gawking was the glint in his hand.

The metallic glint on both of your ring fingers.

Alhaitham shook from where he stood.

King Deshret's voice echoed through his mind.

"The heart has its reasons which reason knows not."
