Concept that just popped into my head: Milgram characters doing "get ready with me" videos

Aw, this was so fun!! I always love your hc style of normal au/everyone's chilling, and tried to go the same route -- it was so cute to think about :D

Haruka: Puts on his outfit for the day and explains everything in great detail. He has lots of comfortable items and fun colors. At the very end he speaks off-camera and you realize Muu was standing there cheering him on the whole time. He gets a lot of encouraging comments, and Muu and Fuuta keep an eye on the account to delete any nasty ones that may come in.

Yuno: Shows her outfit, makeup, nails, and bag she’s taking with her. She tries out a variety of styles (not just sticking to the more feminine looks we see in canon). She gives a bit of a tutorial and tips as well as showing things off. Has a main account for her daytime outfits, and a more private one for her nighttime looks. Mahiru is the only one aware of the latter account.

Fuuta: Layers. Lots of layers. There will be three sweatshirts laid out in front of him and you wonder which he’s going to choose before realizing he’s putting them all on. He focuses most on his sneakers and sportswear. He plays loud music over the videos, not knowing what to say. Has gotten into comment-section arguments over those yellow socks.

Muu: Also does a full look at her appearance: nails, accessories, etc. She mentions where you can buy everything, and it’s unclear whether she was sponsored by these brands or is just excited to talk about them. (Whether they’re actually together or not,) she’ll have Haruka on as a guest a lot to show off couple’s outfit ideas. She definitely has the biggest following, and loves recommending Haruka and the others’ accounts.

Shidou: He doesn’t really know what he’s doing, but his account is getting tons of views so the others keep encouraging him to make videos. He’s just glad to be connecting with the other prisoners as they show him how to do it. He dresses in a mix of the sleek patterned shirts and dad fits, and both types of videos are equally popular.

Mahiru: None of the serious-faced flirts or little pouty faces – it’s all smiles for her. Every video is basically a full tutorial – she has captions and a voiceover giving commentary on everything. She has the next biggest following, and interacts constantly. She loves getting questions “what should I wear on an x type date?” “How do I dress to impress x type of person?” because she always comes up with the perfect outfit to help.

Kazui: A bit confused as well, though he does know a lot about style. His interro question makes it seem like he wanted kids – I think he’d really get into the account as one of those “Dad How Do I” types. He talks about matching things, clothes upkeep, shaving/hairstyling.

Amane: Also wouldn’t have made the videos without prompting from the others, but enjoys it a lot. She usually talks about practical things instead of “vain” fashion: she’s excited to show off a new raincoat, sturdy shoes, useful pockets, etc. Over time, she leans into outfits that are more cute and colorful, gaining confidence in them.

Mikoto: He started the account as something for one of his design classes, and got really into it. He likes to challenge himself with unique styles and clothing articles, making pretty much anything work. He keeps everything professional in case an employer/coworker sees, but isn’t afraid to add some flirting and flaunting in there. If he’s open about his plurality, he’ll have some special videos, “choosing an outfit for John today!”

Kotoko: Like Amane, she’s more excited about practical outfits. She’ll show off clothes that have good flexibility, places to store and conceal objects, and heavy duty materials. She’ll rate jackets, boots, and other “military-grade” things for what has worked best for her. She’s very attentive to the accounts that follow her – she does full background checks to make sure her info is being used for justice, not more crime. Mahiru convinces her to do a special where she puts all her piercings in and talks about why she chose them/what they mean.

Es: Experiments with a lot of new styles, trying to figure out what they like. They also just play music in the back, not having much to say about each outfit. They'd rather focus on their series of dressing-up-Jackalope videos, much to his dismay...

I know it's just mindlessly assigning personal significance to what truly are complete random acts of circumstance or etc, but I still enjoy casually adopting the attitude that I am somehow Nature's Most Favorite Little Babey Boy. If it's hot outside and a cool breeze randomly happens, that wind was created for me specifically. A bird lands near me? They were sent here just for ME personally to see. If it rains at just the right time when I was thinking of rain earlier that day, the rain was created as a gift to me. etc. etc.

A Shidou + Dance drabble for anon, thank you for the request! It still has genuine headcanons/characterization, but I definitely went a slightly sillier route (kinda channeling minigram vibes at points...)

“I am not doing that.”

Shidou was always very polite, very calm in the face of any high-energy circumstances, whether it was a medical emergency or a raving party. The situation wasn’t quite either of those, but still he maintained his composure as the prisoners beckoned him forward.

Yuno had cleared away some of the common room tables so she could teach Haruka a dance she’d seen online. His performance had attracted Muu, and their giggles had tempted Mahiru, whose dedication in her wheelchair involved Mikoto, whose teasing had recruited Fuuta, whose yelling had dragged in Kazui, and their spectacle had created an audience of the others.

“Aw, it’s easy,” Yuno was telling him, “just a few simple moves. I’m not asking you to pirouette or anything.”

Through his polite smile, he internally cursed Kazui for joining in; now he couldn’t use the excuse that he was too old for such nonsense.

Not that dancing itself was the issue. Shidou prided himself in being very good at the art: he knew several steps and moves, and had never been known to pinch his partner’s toes. He and his wife had received much praise for their dancing at their wedding. Before his work kept him out through the nights, she had talked him into a few midnight waltzes in their kitchen. He’d help his daughter twirl when she was feeling like a ballerina, and would sway with his son to the same music.

But this amalgamation of hand gestures and hip swaying wasn’t quite the same to him.

He opened his mouth to decline, but a small stare in the corner gave him pause. Amane was watching the scene with feigned disinterest. She watched Shidou for his answer. All week he’d been encouraging her to involve herself with others more, telling her of all the benefits to her mental health. If he wanted even the slightest chance of her taking him seriously, he only had one choice.

“I… will do my best.”

“Great!”

Before he had a moment to second guess the decision, Yuno grabbed his arms and yanked him into the circle. His eyes flashed around the group, quickly calculating the moves in order to follow along. Swing your arms this way, wag your finger that way, raise both hands, turn your body around, and so on. It was fairly repetitive. He had it down in no time.

Or so he thought. Mikoto snickered at him.

“What?”

“You look stiffer than a board. You’re supposed to loosen up, man.”

“I am loose,” he said, his limbs perfectly rigid as he moved them with the music.

Mikoto did the little turn, putting a bunch of extra movement into it. It was uplifting to see him enjoying himself. Ever since he’d left the smoking group, Shidou had been worried about his state of mind. “Not even close. You’re doing even worse than Fuuta, somehow.”

“Hey!”

Mahiru swung her arms to the music. “I think he’s doing very well!”

Yuno was dancing circles around them -- literally and figuratively -- and she seemed to agree with Mikoto.

“Come on, you can relax here! Warden isn’t even around.” She swung her hips in fluid motions. “Let me see some rhythm!”

Shidou joined them for claps in sync with the beat, which he thought demonstrated his rhythm perfectly fine, but she kept prodding.

Finally, he set his jaw. He wasn’t the type of man to get embarrassed. He could care less for appearances. Even if he was that type of person, he’d have reason to agree -- Kazui was completely showing him up.

Though his movements were certainly ridiculous and clumsy compared to the others’, he tried to shift his shoulders and legs in similar motions. It earned him some celebration and some laughs from the others. He bent his knees, trying to put his whole body into the silly steps.

He followed Yuno’s example, letting out a chuckle as he danced more ridiculously than he believed he ever had.

The song picked up, and Shidou turned triumphantly to where Amane sat in the corner. This would be a big step, showing her he was willing to put himself out there for the group. Maybe it would even convince her to come and join the dancers, now that she saw --

Her chair was empty. She had left.

hi hi hi vixen!!! ٩(ˊᗜˋ*)و ♡ oh my gosh i could never mind; i’m flattered that you’d like to know more about us!! <3 okay SO!! we met while i was working as a lil intern in the commercial department at his company. he’s a chronic control freak, so he finds himself overseeing/supervising as many (aka all) departments + their corresponding activities as much as he can. anyway, i am very new to the job—only a mere few weeks into it—when he spots me and immediately decides he has to own me.

he slinks up, all smooth and suave, charming and charismatic, and strikes up a random conversation with me, asking a million questions that are most definitely invasive but don’t actually feel invasive because he’s just so personable—my name, how long i’ve been in hell, when i began working at voxtek, why i began working at voxtek, what i used to do in my human life, etc etc etc—subtly collecting information on me so he can stalk me the minute he gets back to his office.

a few days after he’s completed his thorough and meticulous ‘research’ on me, he suddenly and unexpectedly promotes me to his personal assistant (and no, i’m not allowed to refuse the job offer, no matter how much i enjoy working in commercials). anyway i could gush about us forever but to make a very long story short, my role as personal assistant is literally to just stay glued by his side, eternally tethered to him—he doesn’t even make me do any work, he just wants me within his sight and reach at all times; he uses the ‘personal assistant’ role to get to know me very quickly, since i spend nearly all of my time with him now—and eventually, he ends up making me into his greatest product, which is basically a ‘legitimate’ superstar (an extravagant version of a social media influencer, using all of his platforms of course, and ‘legitimate’ in the sense that i am pure, i am clean, unlike angel and his porn star friends. vox is searching to quite literally create a new type of stardom, with me spearheading it).

I've had Zack for a long time actually since 2017 maybe ? He's one of my frequent muses but it's been some time since I brought him back on tumblr ... initially I picked him randomly at a time of depression I just wanted an escape from the circle of people I knew and he became one of my comfort muses, the fandom was lovely and the people I met there were even lovelier back then, aside from that ? I just love him, he's my favourite in vii I played crisis core so many times and cried a lot :"))

Smut, I'm from a culture where we keep these things private and it's very uncomfy for me to look at, but to each their own, I'm chill as long as no one forces it on me. Endless angst as well gets on my nerves, don't get me wrong I LOVE angst, but I've wrote with blogs that keep writing it without a plot whatsoever and keep forcing it on you that's a no no for me.

ɪꜱ ᴛʜᴇʀᴇ ᴀɴʏᴛʜɪɴɢ ʏᴏᴜ ʀᴇᴀʟʟʏ ᴇɴᴊᴏʏ ᴡʀɪᴛɪɴɢ?

I enjoy writing characters with complex emotions, those who are often lost in their own head in reflection. Characters who have conflicting morals and double personalities. But as in a genre I'd say a mix of everything, I love fluff, cheesy romance, angst, all of it.

ʜᴏᴡ ᴅᴏ ʏᴏᴜ ᴄᴏᴍᴇ ᴜᴘ ᴡɪᴛʜ ʜᴇᴀᴅᴄᴀɴᴏɴꜱ?

A few years back I used to sit down and do research for ten paragraph worth of headcanons, now i just toss whatever I'm thinking about on a post and call it a day LOL

ᴅᴏ ʏᴏᴜ ᴡʀɪᴛᴇ ɪɴ ꜱɪʟᴇɴᴄᴇ ᴏʀ ᴅᴏ ʏᴏᴜ ᴘʟᴀʏ ᴍᴜꜱɪᴄ?

I used to listen to music but I find it better nowadays to do it in silence

I do, part of the reason why I'm slow is because of how much I plan. English is not my native language and more than often I need to be reading to refresh my vocabulary, so on certain days I read, on others I try to use what I learn in writing. When it comes to posting, I found it better to post one thing a day, a slow strategy but made a significant change in my motivation, I know I don't have to be in a rush that way and pour everything I have into a thread ♡

ᴅᴏ ʏᴏᴜ ᴇɴᴊᴏʏ ꜱʜɪᴘᴘɪɴɢ?

Yup but not as extravagantly as the tumblr folk. I tried the whole multi ship thing and at the end of it all I saw was repetition and the aspect of shipping began to lose its appeal a little too quickly. Imo some characters act differently when in love and at the end of the line you lose the essence of that character. Now listen I do go ham when shipping but I prefer if it was with one person I know and possibly am friends with, communication is key after all, but that's just my preference

I genuinely can never thank you enough for the past year. I can't express how much it's meant to me to be understood and have my energy reciprocated with someone on the same wavelength. Although I've been in the fandom for quite a bit longer than most people writing in, and longer than you, even, I can't remember the last time I felt this welcome and motivated. A TRULY embarrassing amount of my work's just been fueled by "oh Snap's gonna wanna see that," and of course that circle's expanded since then, but it probably wouldn't have had I not met stream chat through you, aaaaaand if I'm honest you're still up there... lol...

It's always, always a highlight of my day to see your your work, your posts, and your responses, whether they're to me or to others, and it's always a highlight of my week to be able to make it to streams! You're a huge inspiration for me, particularly in terms of your work ethic across the board. I always come out of streams energized and feeling like I can actually finish things, and usually this is hubris, but it's gotta count for something.

Not to be dramatic, but you kinda changed my life, no exaggeration. I still really can't see myself the way I was two or three years ago not just calling it quits after some of my Gaiden experiences... lol... but I'm still around, and like always, I wanna be able to write in and interact as much as I used to sometime soon. Thanks for everything! I hope RGGS continues to deliver so we can stay in touch :3

Ooooh, definitely my S.C.I.E.N.C.E series (Midam AU with incubus Adam). This story started out as a pure porn idea, and then somehow spawned plot. It's kinky. It has Raphael being so done. It has demon Adam as the son of a hunter (John, ofc).

Let's just say. Stuff happens. (Including lots of kinky stuff with ✨ pain slut Michael. ✨)

Though if we're going by 'no porn', then I'd have to say In The End, an endverse Midam story that I wrote for 31 prompts for Endversetober. I had a blast writing it, and coming up with stuff for the different prompts. It also answers such pressing questions as 'What if this timeline couldn't be rebooted' and 'What if Lucifer, while possessing Sam, drank demon blood?' and also 'Would Rufus and Linda fuck if they knew each other, and why is the answer 'yeah, all the time'?'

🦅 - Do you outline fics or fly by the seat of your pants?

Well, this depends. I started off never outlining anything, but the more I wrote (and the more it's longer stuff), the more I tend to take notes. Usually, when something comes to me, I write it down now, because it turns out that my horrible memory is in fact also horrible when it comes to my stories. 😅

That doesn't mean that I've always got everything planned in advance. For my high school AU, for example, I outline a chapter, write it, and then outline the next lol.

So. Tl;dr: It depends, lol.

not unlike how i consider leopard to be a theme song of sorts for scrabble, i consider my ordinary life to be that for rolly!

basically speaking, i think the lyrics really encapsulate a lot of rolly's arc from when he joins allll the way to blackout. to put things simply...

rolly joined the psa thinking that it was just a very, very dedicated acting group that also helped penguins on the side sometimes. (which given the zanyness of the original game and in game rp groups? fair tbh) and y'know, given how he aced (pun intended) a LOT of his early missions without needing help every step of the way, that ah...gave him a bit of an ego, to say the least. but the problems ironically start when rolly finds out it's all real. suddenly his successes aren't because he (and his friends) are good actors- are they even real successes if he didn't know all the missions he went on weren't 100% staged?

and how good of an agent even is he if it took him meeting herbert to finally accept it was all real? especially since he shoved down his first realization after mission 4? in any case, rolly did manage to get a grip on things with the help of his friends. so what if he was a little naive? he likes being an agent and around his coworkers, and someone's gotta keep an eye on herbert...but of course, the popcorn bomb just had to make this manlet's prexisting inferiority complex worse. not to mention blackouts everything, so thanks herbert!

anyhoo theres another song id like to bring up as well....

i'd say one of the other songs i directly connect to rolly during blackout specifically (besides the ah, obvious answer to that) is toba the tura! i could talk about this all day but this post is already late sooo id like to talk about my favorite rollycore thing about this song:

i like to imagine This Part Specifically is a exchange between rolly and herbert pre-freezing. know this and be at peace :)

Requestober 2023 Sketches

The playlist has returned for this year! There will be a few in between, but it should be updating at least once a week on either Wednesday or Friday or both - keep an eye out for your req(s)!

Day 4 got some subtle Black Eye, they are a great pair ♪ You can see I couldn’t fully decide on posing - this will be a theme lol - maybe Sylvia loafing and poking her nose up at Peepers? Or just man-handling him into a snuggle lol, I almost went with that one! But I still ended up going with the first sketch after all, his half-squinted eye was too cute to pass up!

Day 6′s first sketch was also a first-try-correct but lemme try something else lol, I’m glad I went with this one though! Friend looks very fluffy, as does Ghostbur <3 Thank goodness for digital cleaning, Phil’s arm completely confounded me traditionally lol, same with the wings actually

The alt is still cute tho, and sad :’) Ghostbur would still consider Phil his dad! And yes he’s not exactly Will, Phil’s kid ahh </3 And yet he still gets to hug him!! The piece of him that remembers him! It hurts ♥

Day 10 was a great excuse to draw blood lol, I can’t not ♪ I ran out of room since this was the last sketch of the page so while I fully intended for the bloody knife to be continuous with the rest of him, I had to puzzle-piece it all together haha ♫ He’s so scribbly lol

Day 15 was so fun!! Ahhh!! As I mentioned in the tags, I got the notification for this one while I was offline and dozing but even in that state of mind, this was the image that immediately bloomed in my head! I am so pleased I got to make it exactly as intended haha ♪ They’re so cute <3 And it’s always fun to draw Mitsu reacting like “O//o//O” even just in emoji form lol

Day 16′s was fun and silly - I only ended up with the one sketch, it’s been too long since I’ve drawn a Core! It hasn’t been all that long since I’ve watched a Meet the Cores but it has been long while since I’ve picked up Portal 2 or Mel, it’s too bad ‘cause they’re both so cute haha. But I mean, all this Portal stuff has inspired me to get back to playing so hmmm :3c

Day 17 had those two options but for me it wasn’t even a question lol - I do of course love RGB but I’ve made a habit of drawing him! And I did get to draw him later as well, so I got all the character diversity I could ask for haha. I’m so sad that I missed out on the “tk” SFX in the final version, I made it and then just forgot to turn the layer back on before exporting lol, just hear it in your head if you would ♪

Day 18, more blood! Moreeee! Thank you for all the Yanderapy attention this year ahhh, it’s so gratifying to know these boys are being enjoyed ♥ I love them too! And it was doubly fun to imagine them playing into their baser urges, yandere-wise haha ♪ What’s the fun of a yandere if they can’t have a little blood, as a treat? Hehe ♫ Mitsuru’s swirly eyes are one of my favourite yandere features of his, drawing it in full swing was really fun :D

Day 19, a bit of Ranboo ♥ It’s been long enough that I’d forgotten how much I enjoy Ranboo! c!Ranboo as well as The Guy haha, they’ve gotten more chaotic lately it seems, good for them. He’s also still quite fun to draw, that’s just good character design for you ♪ A cute little squished face, wanting to go out and play. You can kinda tell from the flower boxes that even traditionally I wasn’t all that detail-oriented for this one lol

Day 20 got a lot of concept art! Making new outfits will do that lol, started with just deciding what their sweets theme would be - Mitsuru was so obviously ube and buttercream that it hurts lol, and you can see there was a bit more deliberation with Ishida. Salted lemon, and he was supposed to keep the lattice motif - we’ll get there :P

Outfit designing! Ishida’s was a OHKO - you can’t see it in the final version since he’s angled away but his buttons are salt stones! And he’s also got asymmetrical salt “freckles” around his left eye :) Mitsu’s was a little over-complicated so he needed a second pass

But only a second pass! A chunky sweater with the swirls was absolutely the correct choice, and then since zippers don’t exist in the JD universe (lol) he gets buttons!

Finally they got their final version! You can see from the sliced version that originally they were meant to have three sections apiece for both limbs, buuut that ended up being overly visually busy, so I gave them two for their arms and three for their legs :) All the other posing and everything was pretty much perfect though! :D

This is the most correct version of their clothes for their cut-up frame; I was in a bit of a rush for the gif version so a few elements are missing, like Ishida’s aforementioned lattice design element :’D Just try to not look too hard at the final version for these details specifically lol ♪ Oh the foibles of trying to be speedy!

Technically not Requestober but I was inspired by my own idea of them switch-stitching their limbs back together lol - lemon ube?? I guess that might work...

Day 21 got a concept sketch before starting - Luci’s glares are very cute hehe ♪ I was sure I could push it cuter tho >:3c

And I was right! I called this an alt but honestly this was the correct choice from the beginning lol ♪ Long ears are so fun to pose, extra expressions! I had a bit of trouble with his arms, but I think that’s just a me-not-knowing-how-to-draw-arms-lately thing lol

Day 22 was also very close to the end of the page so I was a bit cramped! Their faces are definitely the most important element - especially considering RGeeBs has one here! - so I wanted to give them a bit of extra attention. I really like his sharp nose hehe ♪ And Hero’s hand doing the classic cartoony pinky-up with her white gloves ugh it’s so cute <3

They did get a very tiny fullbody sketch tho haha ♪ For how it turned out here, I’m doubly happy with RGB’s pose in the final! Especially his legs :D

Speaking of tiny, day 24 was super tiny!! I always draw the stick figures tiny tho haha, they’re such cute little pops of colour on my page :) I’m glad as well that I could make all the colours clean digitally - the colours got a bit mixed traditionally lol

Fun fact: Day 25 didn’t get a traditional sketch! It’d been too long since I’d drawn GLaDOS so I felt a little better to just have the references right there in the same canvas lol. My initial digital sketches are always a bit chaotic, lots of very energetic lines! It does make me all the more determined to make her design readable in my style >:3c

I started forgetting to label what day they were around day 26 haha, but I started with them side-by-side - I wanted them to show off their outfits a bit more but it felt a little stiff :P Obviously Sinister would be uncomfortable in heavier clothes tho, so I went with that thought ♪ Poor Stanley haha

The alt ended up taking it since interacting is way more fun than not! I haven’t drawn Stanley using sign language in a hot minute which is too bad! It’s very fun to do! He’s not going to listen to you Stanley, no matter what you do

Day 28 gave me a bunch of thoughts but since it was fairly open-ended, I wasn’t sure where to take it at first! Angst just has so many possible roads! Initially, featured here, I considered them getting caught - them in a police light was a very cool concept for my lighting-focused brain this season haha - but it still wasn’t quite right. Maybe because Ishida actually looks stressed, noo D:

The plot just kinda picked up from there, the idea of Ishida killing Mitsuru since they were caught, and then what I eventually ended up with - all while trying to fight against limited space and a not-the-best art day, just gotta keep powering through despite the obstacles!

But I did finally land on the idea I wanted the most :) Originally this one was going to have two panels but I couldn’t make it look right, switching back and forth between them :P I’m glad I finally got to it in the end! It was a struggle haha

Day 29 got Fellplates!Gaster! Heck yeah! :D It’s been a while since I’ve drawn him so I had to get back into the swing of it lol - I actually booted him on “April 1st” by changing my clock and then my internet refused to connect to certain sites?? What the heck is that about. Well either way, I got him! He is cute haha

I really was tempted to give him something to do with other Fellplates members, but the lack of references confounded me! Ah! You can probably tell which one was meant to be Alphys huh lol ♪ Him and his sense of loyalty ah 💔 Well, self-destruction is a common ley line for him huh haha

And then what I finally ended up with ♪ He has a slightly more open expression here, but I do like the somewhat sinister edge the final version ended up with :3c The backlighting begged for it!! And everyone needs cool backlighting haha

Day 30′s TSP/Portal crossover!! It’s such a classic idea, I am actually honestly surprised that this is my first foray into it - I’ve thought about it forever! I’ve drawn them adjacently! But this is my first time actually drawing them interacting?? How?? Well I’m glad I have now haha, they’re so- they’re just so them, y’know? Lol

Y’get a bonus because the idea of Stanley and Chell just kinda vibing in a test chamber and Stanley reacting - which you can see the barest of unfinished sketch there on the right lol - to having his Bucket taken from him, it was too good not to haha. Chell is indifferent lol

Day 31, last day! I actually drew this the night beforehand, very quickly thus the scribbliness haha. Sometimes that’s all you need, just to get the image out! You can see with the SFX, despite being noiseless in the final version, I was thinking of the static right away :) I’m quite happy with how it all turned out hehe <3

That’s all the general sketches from this year! A good solid mix of things! Very fun :D

3. What ideas come from when you were little?

Oh this is a hard one. I don’t quite know? Sometimes I like to revisit old ideas I had when I was young and rework/rewrite them and sometimes it sparks interaction for certain pieces, but I cant think of any examples right now <//3

5. Estimate of how much of your art you post online vs. the art you keep for yourself

About 1 in every 5 pieces are actually posted online? Lots of my art is shared solely with my friends but I post what I think people would be interested in! I do want to post online more just to put myself out there/have an archive of my work. Lots of it is OC stuff though and most of it is unfinished pfh

7. A medium of art you don't work in but appreciate

Oils,, Oil Paints. I have attempted when they are available to me and I just have such a hard time grasping them that I dont touch em anymore, mad respect for artists who paint and use oils though, its a very pretty medium

8. What's an old project idea that you've lost interest in

I attempted to draw every Seawing Prince once. I used it as a design practice & general practice of drawing dragons but quickly lost motivation lmao </3 it was fun at first and one day I wish to revisit the idea but for now it will remain just that, an idea

26. What's a piece that got a wildly different interpretation from what you intended

Admittedly I am someone who likes to Talk About My Thoughts so all of my art tends to contain an explanatory caption so I actually dont get misinterpreted a lot online pfh, but (fortunately) recently I got a school piece of mine completely turned on its head meaning wise. I had sculpted a skull that looked partially melted, it had a lid at the top so it could be used as a vessel and flowers were growing out of every hole and crack in the skull. The original intent was to actually convey infection/overtake, as the flowers were a sickly yellow and the melting nature of the skull was supposed to help convey that. Alongside that it was supposed to be part of a trilogy where you can see the stages of the skull-vessel slowly decaying, but since I caught covid in the middle of working on it and had to abandoned it for 3 weeks I ran out of time so its like the end of a story </3. REGARDLESS the Skull got displayed in school and I had someone compliment me on the symbol of “regrowth” it showed. I understand that view of it, despite my goal being to kinda flip the visuals on their head and instead show a forum of decay I liked the way that person presented it so I’m p content with my bad skull sculpture thing being viewed that way. Granted my artists statement talking about the Meaning was displayed beside the skull but I know people dont tend to read those so, again, understandable interpretation. A strange lil thing… it looks very bad <3

#ah my poor clay skull … she is so messed up I wish to re-make her one day #I had to waste 10 minutes of class daily when working on it just to run across the school to get my skull reference because the bio teachers #kept on stealing it and in my 3 week abcense my clay completely dried before it could be fired and Compressed It Greatly lmao #Clay has also been a medium that I am really bad in but unlike oil I keep on trying at it. its not working. Reposting my Shidou/dance drabble -- I realized I’d accidentally included literally everyone except Kotoko and I felt so bad 😭It’s all super minor edits to make it happen in T1 and give her like two lines of appearance, but I really wanted to lol

“I am not doing that.”

Yuno had cleared away some of the common room tables so she could teach Haruka a dance she’d seen online. His performance had attracted Muu, and their giggles had tempted Mahiru, whose enthusiasm had inspired Kotoko, whose intensity had found competition in Mikoto, whose teasing had recruited Fuuta, whose yelling had dragged in Kazui, and their spectacle had drawn in Shidou and Amane as an audience.

“Aw, it’s easy,” Yuno was telling him, “just a few simple moves. I’m not asking you to pirouette or anything.”

Through his polite smile, he internally cursed Kazui for joining in; now he couldn’t use the excuse that he was too old for such nonsense.

But this amalgamation of hand gestures and hip swaying wasn’t quite the same to him.

He opened his mouth to decline, but the small stare in the corner gave him pause. Amane was watching the scene with feigned disinterest. She watched Shidou for his answer. All week he’d been encouraging her to involve herself with others more, telling her of all the benefits to her mental health. If he wanted even the slightest chance of her taking him seriously, he only had one choice.

“I… will do my best.”

“Great!”

Or so he thought. Mikoto snickered at him.

“What?”

“You look stiffer than a board. You’re supposed to loosen up, man.”

“I am loose,” he said, his limbs perfectly rigid as he moved them with the music.

“Hey!”

Mahiru circled her arms to the music. “I think he’s doing very well!”

Kotoko looked over. “You’ve got good breath control. It feels nice to work out like this, mm?”

“I suppose…”

Yuno was dancing circles around them -- literally and figuratively -- and she seemed to agree with Mikoto.

“Come on, you can relax here! Warden isn’t even around.” She swung her hips in fluid motions. “Let me see some rhythm!”

Shidou joined them for claps in sync with the beat, which he thought demonstrated his rhythm perfectly fine, but she kept prodding.

He followed Yuno’s example, letting out a chuckle as he danced more ridiculously than he believed he ever had.

Her chair was empty. She had left.
