Grace was doing anything to avoid going home this past week or so. After being face to face with a barrel of gun when she accidentally walked in on a break-in on campus, her nightmares seemed to get worse naturally. So any time away from her bed and away from her own thoughts were like a blessing for her. Sure Grace knew that the break-in she witnessed and the body being found were probably not related, but that didn’t mean that she wasn’t scared to come forward with information on the former.

Staying until the Battle Bar was closing, Grace sat on some random steps to smoke before she was to drag herself home. Hearing footsteps to her right she spoke up. “Hey I’m sorry if this is your place, I just needed a place to sit and think for a moment.” Which was a bit of an understatement. “I’ll give you a cigarette if you promise not to be too upset.”

Ten People From Horror Movies That I Want to Kill With My Bare Hands (plus reasons cause I know y'all are gonna ask)

Trigger Warnings: mentions of attempted rape, incest, and abuse

1. Chucky (Child's Play series)

He doesn't deserve Tiffany. This fine ass woman waited for him for ten years and he has the gall to laugh in her face when she thought that the ring he left was because he wanted to propose and then proceeded to trap her the same way he was trapped. Not to mention the first thing he says to her after being gone for ten years is literally "I thought you were gonna let yourself go" oh my GOD Tiffany please love yourself. He's a little bitch and Tiffany needs to raise her standards. Also, he tries to kill a child for like three movies straight? While I love the Chucky movies, I get no greater satisfaction then from watching him die at the end of all of them. (The exception being Cult of Chucky)

2. Frank Cotton (Hellraiser)

Steals his brother's wife and then tries to force himself onto his niece. Knowingly opened the puzzle box because he's a literal dumbass and then gets upset when he gets sent to hell. Kills his brother and wears his skin. Come here you skinless freak I'm gonna send you back to the Cenobites myself.

3. Alex Le Domas (Ready or Not)

The fact that homeboy was even willing to chance having Grace pull the card proves that he's a bitch. Why don't you try being honest with the woman you supposedly love and tell her about your family's weird curse? I'm pretty fucking sure that'll get her to stop asking to tie the knot if she knows there's a chance she's gonna pull a card and all of her in-laws are gonna proceed to try to kill her. And the fact that this man had the audacity to chance sides and try to kill his WIFE??? Sorry, but I hope you enjoy being in hell get fucked Alex

4. Max (The Lost Boys)

This man saw that his son was dead and just went "haha guess he misbehaved" and I'm not exaggerating that was literally the dialogue. He also tells a woman, Lucy, how to parent her kids and tries to manipulate her into becoming a vampire instead of just, maybe, I don't know? Getting to know her, building a solid foundation for a relationship, and being honest about it? Instead of basically holding her children hostage by turning them into vampires and using her love for them against her. Basically I would kill this man with my bare hands for both his sons and Lucy and that's on that.

5. Guy Woodhouse (RoseMarys Baby)

This man can catch these hands any day of the week. He lets SATAN r*** his goddamn WIFE, and then proceeds to gaslight her for nine fucking MONTHS about how her pregnancy is totally normal and how she's not carrying the actual anti-christ even when it seems she's inches from actual and literal death. Just so he can be an actor. I'm going to beat his ass all the way to hell, Satan come get your man

6. Christian Hughes (Midsommar)

This cheating, lying piece of shit. The movie starts with how he plans on breaking up with his girlfriend but refuses to because he's too chicken shit and then he proceeds to make plans to leave for a month (?) without telling said girlfriend and is never honest with her. THEN, he fucking steals his friends thesis before finally cheating on his girlfriend. I hate, hate, HATE this man, and I'm not saying he deserved to get put into a bear skin and then set on fire, but he definitely deserved something

7. Chris Hargensen (Carrie)

It's no wonder Carrie had a nervous fucking breakdown when this is her school bully. Chris traumatizes Carrie when she gets her first period, and refuses to accept that she was in the wrong??? And instead blames Carrie for her and her friends detention/suspension from prom when they were the ones that literally threw tampons and pads at a girl who thought she was dying all while chanting "plug it up"? And, to top it off, she gets a girl who's been ostracized her entire life elected prom queen just to pour pigs blood on her in front of the entire senior class. Chris Hargensen can rot in hell and I can only think about fighting her every time I watch it.

8. Jack Torrance (The Shining)

The scene where he specifically yells at Wendy when she comes into his study and you can see the way her face falls really solidified my hatred for this man. Jack is the only other adult around for Wendy to talk to and he shames her for wanting human connection and a conversation from her fucking husband. Not only that, but he once broke the arm of his child and this was pre-hotel. So, basically, the hotel turning him insane or not, Jack was always a piece of shit and I'm glad Danny was able to later confront his feelings about his father in Doctor Sleep.

9. Charley Brewster (Fright Night)

Within the first five minutes of the film, we literally see him ignoring his girlfriend's lack of consent and pressuring her into having sex with him. Then, he stalks and obsesses over his neighbor and just so happens to find out that his neighbor is a vampire. Since he has absolutely no survival instincts, he makes this unfortunately clear that he knows and even denies the chance to pretend that he didn't see anything when Jerry confronts him. All I'm saying is that Charley really shouldn't have been surprised that Jerry was going to try to kill him and that all of the decisions that Charley made were bad ones. Especially the ones that lead to Ed (his bestfriend) dying and Amy (his girlfriend) almost being turned into a vampire. 10/10 would stake

10. Michael "Mike" Williams (the Blair Witch Project)

As someone who used to camp regularly and has experience in survivalist training, Mike is a prime example of what NOT to do during a survival situation. He is the FIRST to panic, the first to point fingers, and he fucking throws away the map. He. Fucking. Throws. Away. The. Map. All of his decisions are made on impulse and he never even tries to be logical in this entire situation. His character makes my blood boil because even if there wasn't a witch keeping them trapped there someone like that will end up making chances of survival slim anyways. Go stand in the corner and think about what you've done.

I’m thinking about little Alex and Daniel right now. And how Daniel tried his hardest to keep his little brother from witnessing their families horrific game of hide and seek. When Alex got out of the family he was by no means jealous — he was able to let out a sigh of relief. That his baby brother got out of this hellish family. His heart broke when Grace pulled that one bad card. But in the end it was clear Alex betrayed his brother. Alex saw him die knowing what he was trying to accomplish and yet and turned around and ended up trying to sacrifice Grace like the rest of the Le Domas family. Daniel didn’t deserve to die, and if he hadn’t maybe the two brothers might’ve seen another sunset.

Ready Or Not

Samara Weaving stars as Grace, newly wed to a guy named Alex Le Domas, one of the heirs to the Le Domas gaming empire. Yes, his family made their fortune in games. Not video games. Board games. Real old school stuff here. It's been a family business for generations and part of their tradition states that after one of the family gets married, their new spouse needs to play a random game at midnight in order to be truly welcomed to the inner circle. Could be something as simple as checkers or chess. Alex's brother-in-law mentions he had to play Old Maid. Sounds easy, right? Grace is told to choose a card to see what game she gets and after she pulls Hide and Seek, the rest of the family seems slightly disturbed. Before you know it, Grace is being chased around the huge family mansion, still wearing her wedding dress, by family members toting guns, axes, and crossbows.

As crazy as it sounds, it all works wonderfully. Weaving is simply fantastic as the bride on the run, becoming more unnerved and disheveled as the night goes on and dawn approaches. Why is dawn so important? All we know is that if she isn't dispatched before the sun rises, something REALLY bad is going to happen to the family. As magic hour draws closer and closer, the family becomes increasingly more frantic in their attempts to get Grace in order to avoid the terrible fate that awaits them. The dramatic tension is all very well done, and there's a LOT of humor mixed in to help keep things light at the same time. Marketed as a horror comedy, but I don't see it as horror at all. More of a comedic thriller maybe. Either way, it's fucking great and one of the nicer surprises of the summer.

Closed starter for @deadxeyed - Jesse Grace's dreams lately usually varied but always were over the same course of one particular night she thinks, after all she was wearing the same white dress that just seemed to get bloodier and bloodier. This dream however, this one she rarely gets, but when she does it always shakes her up the most. A muzzle flash of a gun and Grace is holding a body as he is dying out in front of her. He tells her to run so she does so only to be greeted by everyone who has been chasing her all night. Grace is about to try to run when they literally start to blow up in front of her.

Naturally Grace wakes up screaming louder than she normally does. She tried to calm herself down, but she jumped about a foot when a sudden crash of thunder and lightning came from the unpredictable weather outside. Grace looked around the room for a distraction, knowing she certainly wasn’t going to be able to go back to sleep, when she saw the number on her nightstand.

Grace had been reluctant to call, not knowing how much Jesse's invitation truly was friendliness or just pity. But if there was any night she needed to talk to someone, it was that night. So Grace quickly reached for her phone and called the number. The ringing tone feeling like forever. “Please pick up, please.” She said, trying to will the other line to answer.

Or really any records.” She sighed dramatically, throwing some almonds in her mouth. “Did you see the fight that happened last night? I just turned around and walked away to be honest, I never know how in charge I am of those kids. Like am I legally obligated to stop it or just help them with their emotions afterwards?”

Task 001

Grace had a love-hate relationship with the mandatory meetings. She loved being there to help everyone on campus, and with everyone having at least one meeting they could show all the resources that are available to everyone. But when the psych department was told that even they needed their own meetings, Grace was less than thrilled with the idea. She was never one to deal with her own emotions, instead wanting to take care of others before herself. But she did the right thing and showed up to her meeting.

She of course already knew the questions that were going to be asked, S.W.O.R.D. had specifics so they could collect data about The Incident. It all felt too clinical and Grace made a mental note to try to personalize it with her own clients - old and new.

Grace.

A voice gently reminded her of the task at hand. Pulled her out of her mind that she seemed to be in too much lately.

Why don’t we start with where you were. They tried starting the conversation.

Grace took a deep breath and tried to share what was needed for the information. “Honestly I was out shopping. I didn’t have any sessions until later in the day so I wanted to just do some pampering before work. Bought some new clothes, went to the salon, fairly normal things you know? After I left the salon I wanted to go back to the store just to see if there were any things I could get.”

It surprisingly was coming out easier than Grace expected. Maybe she wanted to talk about it more than she realized. “I was looking for some board games, seeing if there was anything fun out for the next time I had some friends over. And that was when....” She trailed off.

When the incident happened. They finished for her.

A small nod of her head. “I didn’t know how long I was out at the time, all I know is I woke up screaming.” The screams are what haunted her still. Some of the screams she knew were not her own, unknown people that all seemed vaguely familiar. But most of the screams, most of the screams were hers and that was what scared her the most. “I think I scared more than just myself with the screams, I do feel bad for whoever was in the store that day.”

It’s not your fault, Grace. Grace just nodded, of course it wasn’t but she didn’t know what else to say. Do you want to talk about what was in your dreams?

Grace’s eyes shot up at her colleague. “That’s not part of the questions, I’m fine.”

Well that’s true, but I just wanted to open the conversation if you wanted it.

“I said I’m fine.” Grace said curtly, showing that she wasn’t ready yet to tell anyone - especially her coworker - what were in there.

As the students filed by at the end of class, she stepped forward and handed Oliver his usual drink. “So you’ve never told me how you’re so good at all of this. The archery and all that.” Truth be told she had a bad feeling about archery for some reason, but maybe she needed to learn to get over it.

as you sit under the fireworks and watch in awe, you notice movement out of the corner of your eye. a couple sits together and watches the fireworks. you don’t know why they spark your interest, so you look away, only for you to glance back when you realise something is strange. it’s almost as if there’s a giant wall between them, both sitting at the far edge of their shared blanket. it strikes you as weird. you’ve seen the couple perfectly happy before… what changed?

At first Grace was truly liking the fireworks, "Ooh's" and "Ahh's" were coming from everyone in the crowd reacting to the good ones. But then a few red and orange ones in a row etched into Grace's eyes. The booms of the fireworks and the smell of the gunpowder brought her back to the horrible dreams she was having. Grace tried to calm herself down, reminding her that she wasn't in her dreams right now. She was safe. She was around other people.

Looking around, to affirm herself, Grace's eyes landed on the couple that was slightly in front of her. She smiled, having known them from around campus, but the more she looked at them the stranger they seemed. Turning to see if anyone else was seeing what she was, Grace turned back to find the couple on completely opposite ends of the blanket. It was as if the two barely knew each other, not like the happy couple she knew and loved.

Grace forced herself to break her gaze and look back up at the fireworks. She'd take fighting off a panic attack over whatever the weird thing in front of her was.

strider: what is a food, smell, or sound that they associate with their childhood?

She always associate laugher with childhood. She loved playing with her parents when she was little and would always try to push back her bed time by asking for more and more rounds of a board game or reading or whatever they were doing together.

mooshroom: how kind are they to themselves? do they practice self-care?

Violet is trying to be kinder to herself, it hasn’t always been easy - she has a lot of problems with her self-confidence but she’s been trying to get better. She isn’t one to practice self-care, always gets too much in her head when she tries.

parrot: who is someone that they consider a role model for them?

Besides his older sister, Seth absolutely looks up to his mom and thinks she’s the strongest woman in the world. He’s usually not an angry person but if you say ANYTHING about his mom he’ll drop you so fast.

pufferfish: if they had to pick a favourite weather they could have all the time, what would the forecast be?

100% would be rain, it not only reminds him of back home but he loves just sitting inside and watching out the window. He thinks it’s one of the most beautiful, underrated weather and knows that it helps things grow big and strong.

cod: what is one hill they will die on? what is a stance they have that they will never be able to be convinced otherwise of?

Eat the rich, she knows there’s no reason they should be that rich. She doesn’t know why she feels so extremely strong about this but she does. One stance she will never be convinced of is pineapple on pizza, she would rather eat dirt.

turtle: what is one piece of wisdom they’ve kept with them for years?

Keep your head low and you’ll go far. Not only will people underestimate you if you don’t show them all your cards, but you’ll be able to save your strength for when you really need it. Sort of a pick your battles situation.

axolotl: what is their skin routine like at night and in the morning? how long does it take them?

Honestly Grace is pretty lenient on her skin routine. After taking a shower in the morning, she puts on some lotion before doing her make up. And then before bed she takes off her make up and puts on some moisturizer before bed.

horse: how do they react to being on an amusement park ride? what is their ideal ride- something with heights or something that spins?

Grace loves the amusement parks and the rides. They give her such a thrill and she just loves having fun and letting loose. Her ideal ride has to be The Drop because she loves the feeling of not knowing when it’s going to happen. She’s more of a fan of heights than spinning.

rabbit: what is something that makes them skittish and jumpy?

Listen, Violet has anxiety a lot of things make her jumpy. But I feel like most loud noises get her jumpy. She HATED fireworks as a small child and it would sometimes trigger her powers when they got really bad.

parrot: who is someone that they consider a role model for them?

If you ever tell her this, Seth will CRY. But he considers Leah one of the biggest role model in his life. He used to follow her around like a little puppy and just loved how confident and strong she always seemed, even when she was going through one of the hardest times in their life. He would drop it all for his big sister.

cow: when they get proven wrong, how do they react?

It depends on the situation at hand. If it’s something stupid and small like a piece of trivia or something she is 100% the type of person to change the wikipedia just so she won’t be wrong in the moment. But if it’s something actually important she’ll apologize and try to make it up in many little ways.

ocelot: how are they about seeking medical attention? do they hate hospitals and avoid med-bay?

She tries in general not to seek any help unless absolutely necessary but especially medical attention. In foster care her foster parents would avoid taking her to the hospital in case they would get in trouble, not that they ever did anything wrongful. So she tries to avoid it unless absolutely necessary.

pufferfish: if they had to pick a favourite weather they could have all the time, what would the forecast be?

Absolutely would have to be the heat. He doesn’t mind how hot it is, because he just always associates it with summer and being around his friends.
