thinking about wargames once again, even though I lack the capability to really take part in the hobby

specifically, I'm thinking about skirmish games, where each miniature acts independently, and what the upper limit for miniatures per side for that sort of system is

Frostgrave uses 10 miniatures per Warband, though a construct or a zombie could push that up by one or two

space station zero calls for fewer miniatures, 5-9 per warband, with an additional 10-12 for NPCs

I don't know much about the various GW skirmish games, but they seem to all use between idk 5 and 20 miniatures (though one of the starter kits for kill-team contains 23 minis )

so is that the limit, 20 ish miniatures maximum, or are there outliers, or does increasing the miniature count beyond that just slow things down

maybe it takes small units to push the numbers higher, 3-5 person squads, sort of a Hybrids between skirmish and mass combat
