Finnick quickened his pace to keep up with Sera as she led him to a marble fountain in the center of the garden. "I thought I was the one asking questions."

"You missed your chance."

He nodded and went to pluck another flower, a lily of the valley but Sera stopped him. "What? Do you not like that one?"

She looked away for a second and became silent before she answered. "That flower is poisonous. Best case scenario, it'll cause seizures—"

"Worst case?"

"Death."

"Y'know Ava, I like you. A lot." Damon randomly confessed.

The straw in my hand fell off and almost fell on the floor before he caught it and handed it back to me. I just nodded with my eyes wide and placed the straw into my drink. I took a sip and let the ice-cold lemonade cool me down before I blew up.

"...First of all, gross." I retorted. "And second of all, what?!" I whisper-yelled, leaning towards him.

He shook his head. "No. No. Not like that." He rolled his eyes and fell back into his seat. Then he leaned towards me again, his forehead almost touching mine. "Yet." He whispered in a soft husky voice.

I pulled back and shook my head. "I'd rather walk off a cliff. Salvatore." I replied, icily.

"Ouch. But jokes aside—I mean it. I do like you. You're not pretentious or act like you care..." He drifted off, staring at two couples in the distance who had just walked in. "You're honest and...I like that."

"Thanks. I guess." I mumbled sarcastically.

"I mean it."

"I mean Stefan and Elena are there too." I reminded him with a shrug.

He let out a laugh and wiped a stray tear off. "That's cute. We both know that those two only force themselves to act 'nice or kind' but would rather see me gone—"

"I'd like to see you gone too." I interjected.

"Yeah. Yeah. At least you say it to my face."

I pretended to think for a while as I gathered my things. "Here's a penny for your thoughts. Maybe some people are genuinely kind and nice."

"I don't believe that."

"And that's why you're alone."

"I have you, don't I?"

"We're not friends Damon." I said, rolling my eyes and getting up after leaving a few notes on the table next to the bill.

He blinked once, glancing at Ripley behind him who seemed too busy to notice the two. Her eyes widened slightly as she nodded.
