I have a cuddles request. Female reader and Fives. Reader and Echo were crushing on each other. They never got past the crush stage though. Reader and Fives were buddies too. They liked to flirt, tease and joke around. Now Echo is gone though, and Reader and Fives are devastated. Cuddles prompted 5, 15 and 20. Really they both just need shoulder to cry on. Someone to hold on to.

Oh the huuuurt with this one! I made myself tear up a little 😥

The presence of absence... It was a thought you found yourself stuck on often these days. How you could feel emptiness, as heavy and distinct as an object in your hand. How you could see vacancy, an outline in the space of every room, your eyes drawn to the void like a moth to a light. How it was possible to notice him when he wasn't there.
Echo wasn't there. And yet, he was. His absence made him present. Existing only as a memory projected into every space he should have been but no longer would be. The voice only you could hear. The face only you could see.
That wasn't entirely true. Fives still felt him, too. You could tell. Even though he did as he was trained and soldiered on, falling into step by the brothers who were still alive, never bringing up the ones who weren't, never spending time on the things that were out of their control, like life and death, and instead sticking to the things that were, like mission strategies and which MRE to have for breakfast... you knew he still noticed the presence of Echo's absence, just as much as you did. And you knew he was hurting just as badly.
They'd both been your friends, but it was Echo you'd dreamed of. Of kissing. Of loving. Echo with his sharp mind and sweet smile, just as no-nonsense as Fives was all-nonsense. Noble and steady and good.
And just when you'd gotten the sense he maybe returned some of your affections, he'd been taken away. Just like that. No more sweet smiles. No more dreams. Just you and his absence.
And Fives.
Some days you could follow his lead and pretend you didn't see the empty spaces. Other days it was like you had to stare through a ghost to even see the face of the living friend in front of you. Today was one such day. Fives had tried a joke, the first you'd heard a while, but all that landed with you was the absence of Echo's laughter. You waited to hear it and it never came. Neither did your own.
You could see Fives's throat bob as he tried to swallow. His hands came up as if wanting to take hold of you but not daring to reach through the space in between. You realized you couldn't remember the last time you had hugged each other in greeting, or felt his playful swat against your shoulder as he teased, or even the warmth of his leg against yours as he sat close to steal a bite of your food.
And then you realized Echo wasn't the only absence you now felt.
"I'm sorry," you rasped, your throat suddenly constricting with suppressed emotion.
Fives quickly shook his head in response. "It's okay."
You stood and stared at each other, unsure how to move forward. There was this thing in between you, a void that threatened to swallow you up if you dared cross it.
"I... I want you to be okay," he said after a while. And then, in a smaller voice, "Echo would want me to make sure you're okay."
You didn't think you could speak but you made yourself try anyway. "He'd want me to do the same for you."
Fives's mouth moved into a smile but it didn't reach his eyes. His eyes, instead, were watering, darting between yours and the walls around, as if searching for something. He wiped at them and then his beard, taking in a sharp breath through his nose, clearing his throat.
"I'm sorry," you heard yourself saying again. "I... I don't want to push you away..."
"It's..." he instinctually started to respond before stopping himself.
It wasn't okay. It wasn't okay to lose one friend and not have the other to lean on. The truth was, you were afraid. Afraid to walk through Echo. To fill the void with anything other than his memory.
"It's okay," he ended up saying.
It's okay.
Fives's mouth had moved but it was Echo's voice you heard. Clear and calm and certain. Delusion or not, it was all the permission you needed.
You threw yourself at Fives, not daring to think beyond your need to feel him. Your arms wrapped around his torso and squeezed his body tightly against yours. Your face buried into his chest. Your fingers curled into the fabric of his shirt. He immediately replicated every movement and held you with all the strength and care he had. Tears fell and mixed between you. Sobbing breaths heaved back and forth against each one another until they eventually ate each other up and left nothing but defeated sighs in their wake. Desperate, clinging grasps loosened into a tender but firm embrace.
You'd taken that empty space and started to fill it again. With a promise. With hope. And it was okay because you knew he was still there, too. An echo of every new memory you and Fives would make in his honor.

For the cuddles and snuggles prompts, I offer you number 19, hugging/holding them from behind, for either Rexy Boy, Fives, or Howzer (whichever one strikes the inspo!)? I think any of them being hugged from behind would be adorable and/or dorky <3

Snuggle Drabbles #2
Howzer x reader | 550 words
Content: fluff, hugs, reader has a family
Prompt: Hugging them from behind
Tumblr media
Howzer was perfect.
Standing so naturally, so confidently amongst your family. Easily laughing along to your dad's corny jokes. Flawlessly timing his compliments of your mom's home. Fitting in with the quirky and sometimes chaotic dynamic your family had as if he'd been here the whole time. You couldn't help but stop in your tracks, holding the salad bowl you were supposed to be preparing, and instead watching him with so much adoration you worried you'd collapse from the weight of it.
He'd been so nervous, too, meeting your family. It wasn't common for clones to be in a relationship, let alone one so serious as to warrant bringing a whole family into it. He'd had no idea that was even a thing you were interested in until you'd asked if he was ready. And then he'd spent the whole week asking questions. How was he supposed to act? What was he supposed to say?
So to see him like this now, so much more at ease, no trace of apprehension left on his relaxed features, also made you burst with pride. Your man was up for any challenge.
Eventually your dad left the conversation to check on the grill, and your mom decided to run to bathroom before dinner. You quickly snatched the opportunity. You sat down the salad bowl on the closest nearby surface and made your way up behind him. Howzer was distracted, gazing across the yard, and so he made a startled grunt once he felt your arms snaking around his middle from behind.
"What are you doing there?" he asked through the chuckle that followed.
You pressed your face into his back and smiled, knowing he'd feel it. "I just missed you, s'all."
"Missed me?" His hands encircled your arms, rubbing them gently. "You weren't gone that long."
"Felt like it," you mumbled.
He hummed. "Didn't realize dumping a bag of lettuce into a bowl was so taxing."
You had to release him briefly in order to swat at him for that. "Shh! Don't tell my mom it came out of a bag! She thinks I still have a garden."
His body started to shake with amusement in your hold. "Oh, is that what those weeds on your patio were supposed to be?"
You swatted again, only for him to capture your wrist and use it to pull you around to face him. You kept your body and one arm snuggly pressed against him as you moved.
"Hi," he smiled down at you.
"Hi," you whispered sweetly back. It was like you were sharing a secret. Just the two of you. It didn't even matter that your dad was likely sneaking looks over his shoulder or that your siblings would probably start teasing as soon as they made their way outside.
"You're perfect, you know," you said.
Howzer chuckled nervously. "I don't know about that..."
"You are," you repeated. It was fact.
Before he could protest further, you leaned back into him and hugged him fully. You turned your head to rest against his chest and for a moment caught your dad awkwardly trying to appear as if he hadn't been eavesdropping the whole time. You simply smiled and let yourself enjoy the moment for however much longer it would last.

02. jittery nerves and some new friends
Tumblr media
IT DIDN'T TAKE THEM LONG, but Soka was jittering with nerves and things to say on the way there. How would she interact? Would it be too forceful if she directly asked the questions?
Joqin flicked the side of her head, making her scowl as she looked at him. "What?" She dragged out the a in annoyance.
"You're making me nervous with your nervousness, stop." Soka rolled her eyes at his statement.
"Fine, whatever."
Joqin parked the transport to the side and Soka jumped out as it was stopping. Joqin shook his head at her but followed her bouncing figure to the club.
Soka opened the door to 79's, the music leaking out of the place and rattling her bones. She turned around to Joqin who stepped in place beside her.
"Where do you want to go?" He asked loudly, struggling to be heard over the music. Soka scanned the place before noting that a few clones were crowded together near the bar.
Soka brought her hand up and pointed to the crowded bar. "We can get a drink and ask the clones around there for some information!" She responded just as loudly. Joqin nodded at her idea and put an arm around her shoulder, tugging her close to him to prevent her from getting knocked by dancing people. He brought her to the bar and snagged an empty seat for her.
Since the bar was far from the dance floor, the music was much more muted and they could talk in normal voices. "So, what do you want to do?" Joqin asked as the bartender came over to them to ask for their orders. Joqin ordered a strawberry fizz for himself and an iced glass of phattro for Soka.
Soka eyed some clones that were huddled together at a booth, tapping her thigh in thought. "Is it wrong if I ask them information while they are intoxicated?"
Joqin turned to look at the group she was talking about. "Well, we don't know if they are actually drunk, so I don't think so? It's just a few questions so it should be fine."
Soka hummed in agreement and turned back to the bar where the bartender was giving them their finished drinks. "I think I should talk to them now." Soka decided before she lost her nerves. She took a sip of her drink and stood up from her spot at the bar, Joqin following her as he also drank from his glass.
Soka made her way over to the clones, and before she even greeted them, one of the clone's heads snapped up and stared at her questioningly, a defensive look on his face. Soka frowned in confusion at his defensive look.
She opened her mouth to speak but the clone beat her to it. "Do you need something?" He asked gruffly. Soka's mouth snapped shut and she turned to Joqin in panic. Joqin gestured to the clone and Soka turned back around.
"Yes, actually. I have a few questions I'd like to ask your group if that's okay." Soka's grip on her cup was tight, her face scrunched in a nervous look.
The clone tilted his head to the side, the lights catching on his faded blond buzzcut. An image ran through Soka's mind and her face quickly brightened in familiarity. "Captain Rex?" She asked in shock.
Rex's face twisted in surprise and his fists clenched. "Do I know you?" He asked, his voice tight.
Soka shook her head quickly. "I don't think so, but I knew your old generals. They mentioned you quite a bit." Rex seemed to relax a bit at that, his stance seeming more opened. A moment of silence passed between them, the clone group watching them silently.
"Oh!" Soka said in surprise, forgetting to introduce herself, "I'm Senator Sokanara Tanobi, and this is my personal guard, Joqin." Joqin smiled politely at the group as he stood protectively behind her.
"A senator?" A clone spoke up, "Out here?" Rex nodded in agreement. "What are you doing out here, ma'am?"
"For questions." Soka repeated from before. "I'd like to ask you all some questions regarding your rights within the senate." A beat passed. "If you don't mind that is."
The faces of the six clones behind Rex looked at each other before quickly becoming friendly, and they looked up at Soka as they all started to talk at the same time.
Rex brought the straggle of clones to a silence. "Boys, calm down. Introduce yourself first to the senator and answer any questions she has."
An energetic clone hopped up, coming close to Soka. "I'm Amp, ma'am. I flew under the 77th Air Wing and I was apart of the Sword Squadron and the Blade Squadron." He saluted her happily. He seemed quite young and he seemed healthy enough to not have been discharged from the military.
"Hello, Amp. Forgive me if this sounds rude, but why aren't you apart of the army still? You look quite young." Soka asked, pulling out her datapad to record answers.
Amp shrugged his shoulders, "I deserted the Empire. Heard some whispers about clones that were disloyal being taken away and never to be heard of again, and I was afraid that they may find a reason to do that to me. So the moment I got the chance, I deserted and ran." Soka's face morphed in surprise as she listened to the tale. "Luckily I heard about a spy named Fulcrum that could help deserters, so I went and snuck around until I found Rex."
Soka looked at Rex, a bit confused as to how he fit into this story. "I'm one of the Fulcrum." He said, and Soka's mouth formed an O. "That makes more sense." She mumbled as she wrote down Amp's story, excluding the part about Fulcrum for Rex's safety.
"Is that all, Amp?" Amp nodded, picking up his drink and moving back to settle in his seat. "Thank you for telling me this." Soka looked back into the group of clones. "Is there more of you guys that'd like to tell me your story too?"
The clones nodded and created a lineup to wait to tell Soka their story. The next clone seemed a bit older than Amp, looking more around Rex's age. "Hello." Soka greeted, "And you are?"
"Bammer." The clone greeted with a salute. "Was apart of the Gold Squadron."
The clone seemed much more closed off than Amp, and Soka was curious as to why. "Can you tell me your story, Bammer?"
Bammer nodded, taking a sip of his beer. "My squadron was tasked with going after a Seppie ship a while back, during the battle of Lanteeb. Grevious was said to be on the Seppie's ship but before we could get to it, our ship was attacked. Had to go back to defend our ship but it was demolished by some of their bombers before we could even retaliate. They went after my squad next and I was shot at and busted my right wing engine. Somehow I managed to land on Lanteeb without too many injuries, but my ship was completely damaged."
Bammer drank a bit of his beer, his face dark with the memory. "I was stranded on Lanteeb for a while." His eyes cast down to his beer, "Was the only survivor of my squad. Since I didn't have any access to comms, I didn't hear about Order 66." He looked back up at Soka, "I believed the Jedi are innocent and I learnt about the inhibitor chips. I want to help Rex in his fight against the Republic."
"Inhibitor chips?" Soka echoed. Bammer stayed quiet, taking a sip of his beer and stepping back for Rex to come forward and explain.
"The Kaminoans planted some type of chip in our heads that makes us not overly independent and aggressive." Rex snorted at that, "The true function of the inhibitor chips was to make us follow specific orders without any protest. Like Order 66 for example." Soka's eyes were wide in shock, this was the first time she was hearing about this.
"I can bring this to the Senate..." She whispered, turning to Joqin. "Call Senator Chuchi. I need a meeting arranged with her tomorrow." Soka turned quickly to Rex, "If that's alright with you of course." Rex nodded in confirmation, the other clones echoing in agreement.
Soka added some notes to her datapad before looking back at Rex. "Would you mind being a witness in the senate if it came to it?" She asked.
Rex wrinkled his nose in thought, "Don't think I can do that Senator, I've got a warrant out for my arrest." Soka sighed in disappointment. "That's true. I suppose for now the stories are able to suffice." She looked at the rest of the clones. "Can I ask for your stories as well?"
The clones nodded, already prepared to tell their stories. This time two clones stepped forward, looking exactly alike except for the tattoos on their faces. The tattoos seemed to be the yin and yang symbol.
"And you two are?" Soka asked, finishing off her phattro glass and passing it over to Joqin.
"I'm Jag." The one with the yang tattoo spoke up, "And this is my twin, Flyby." Flyby waved at Soka.
Soka smiled politely, "It's a pleasure to meet you two. Do you both share the same story?" Flyby shook his head, "We we're separated into different squads once we were cleared for duty."
Soka readied her datapad, "Okay, Jag, can you tell me your story first?" Jag nodded, stepping forward.
"I started as Commander for the 127th Gunship Wing. I failed a mission, which resulted in the death of many of my brothers, so I got demoted to Captain. Plo Koon took a fancy to my flying and brought me into his squad." Tears rimmed at Jag's eyes at Plo Koon's name, and Soka patted his shoulder comfortingly.
"I was over the planet Cato Neimoidia when..." Jag's voice broke and he took a breath and tried again, "with General Plo when Order 66 was announced." Jag's voice got caught in his throat as he was saying this, guilt weighing on him. "He didn't even get the chance to defend himself, but the last look he gave me was one of forgiveness." A tear leaked down Jag's face. "Shortly after, I defected and found Rex. He removed my chip and I've been helping him find some of our brothers. That's how we managed to find Flyby." Jag gestured to his twin.
Soka patted her face, trying to prevent tears from coming down her own face. "Oh my.. I'm so sorry Jag." She reached forward, "May I give you a hug?" Jag nodded, accepting her open arms as he shakily calmed himself down in her embrace. "I'm really sorry that you had to go through that." Jag pulled back, his twin at his side with a comforting hand on his shoulder.
"Thank you for telling me this," Soka looked up at Flyby before looking back at Jag. "Is there anything more you'd like to say?" Jag shook his head. Flyby spoke up, leaning forward a bit. "I'll tell my story now."
"I was assigned straight to Shadow Squadron as Shadow Six. Sometime during the war I was sent to attack the Malevolence which was headed to attack a medical station for clones. An ion ray was shot at the ships during the battle and I wasn't quick enough to avoid the ray. My ship lost power and died and I had floated away from the battle towards the medical station. Luckily my ship was noticed and retrieved before I lost oxygen, and I stayed at the medical station as an assistant for a short while before receiving the news of Order 66. By the time I managed to get back to Coruscant, the Empire was already in place. Since I was reported KIA, no one was looking for me. By luck Jag had found me and brought me to Rex." Flyby gestures to the group, "And now here we are."
"So you never participated in Order 66?" Soka asked. Flyby shook his head, "Luckily no Jedi's were at the station when the order was issued, and Rex took out my chip already so I have no reason to go and kill Jedi."
Soka nodded, "Thank you for telling me this boys." Flyby gave her a salute and Jag nodded at her as they moved back to huddle into the booth.
A new clone stepped forward. "I'm Fil." He stuck his hand out to shake. "Hello Fil," Soka greeted as she shook his hand, "Can you tell me your story?"
Fil grunted in agreement, settling down in front of Soka. "I was a Commander of my own squad, Fil's squad. Our general was Jedi Knight Nahdar Vebb. My squad was caught in a bad scuffle with Grevious and he let his mutt out on us." Fil looked down at his leg, and Soka followed his gaze. Only now did she realize he had a metal leg. "His mutt tore off my leg and put me into a coma. By the time I woke up, I had gotten a new leg and was reassigned to desk duty for Coruscant Guard. After Order 66 passed, I was discharged from the military due to medical reasons." Fil shrugged, "I was one of the few who got to escape scot-free."
Soka whistled lowly, amazed at how tame his story was compared to the others'. "Did Rex remove your chip yet?" Fil shook his head, "Mack and I are yet to be free from the chips. That's what this meeting was for actually."
Mack was the last clone to be named, and looked up from his drink when his name was mentioned. Mack nodded at Soka, moving forward from his place in the booth to sit closer to Soka. "'Suppose it's my turn to tell my story?"
Soka shrugged, "Only if you want to." Fil stole Mack's drink and wandered back to his spot in the booth. Mack scowled at Fil before looking back at Soka. "I'm a pilot. I wasn't assigned to a specific squadron, I was just tasked to escort people to their destination safely. I was supposed to bring Senator Kharrus to Florrum, but we were attacked by Barb Mentir once we broke atmosphere and our ship crashed and my partner died. Our ship was ransacked by nearby pirates and I was taken hostage by the pirates." Mack tapped his chin in thought, "I don't remember much during that time, but I had been given the offer to join the pirates. So I did, for a while. I eventually became quite close with most of the pirates, but after Order 66 was issued, my crew and I were gunned down for being accused of harboring a jedi. We all scattered and I managed to get an escape pod and land here on Coruscant."
Soka blinked in shock as Mack casually delivered a story that would be fitting for a villain origin story. "Woah, I.. okay thank you for telling me this." Soka reviewed her notes and the stories and a doubt formed in her mind. "I don't think we have enough of a story about the inhibitor chip since only Jag was affected by Order 66." The clones shrugged apologetically and Soka internally laughed at how they all did the action exactly the same.
"I'll look into it tonight then." Soka muttered to herself as she passed her datapad to Joqin for safe keeping. "Thanks for your help boys, and good luck with the chips." Soka turned to Rex who was lounging in his spot in the booth. "Hey, Rex. Can I get your comm number in case you get any new details you think I might like? Or vice versa." Rex sat up at that, pulling out his comlink. They exchanged numbers and Soka wished the group a good night before getting up with Joqin to leave.
"Well, they were a lovely batch." Joqin said to Soka as they left 79's. Soka grinned in agreement, laughter upon her lips. "They definitely were." They walked towards their parked speeder, not noticing the shadowed figure closely stalking them. "I'm going to have to try and hack into the imperial network if I'm going to get more details about this inhibitor chip." They both climbed into the vehicle, Joqin starting up the engine. "Do you think Bail has any information about the chips? Maybe not.. I don't see him doing clone work."
The shadow figure ducked into a close alleyway as the speeder pulled out from the parking space and took to the sky. The figure took out its comlink, raising it to its lips. "Hey, Rampart. Yeah, I know I'm not your favourite person at the moment, but I've got some details you might like to hear. For a price of course."

It was another beautiful day in Pabu. The sun was bright and warm, moonyos were chittering as they ran across the paths, and Hunter stood against a wall, scowling at the scene playing out before him.
You were standing, talking to a neighbor excitedly about something he couldn’t make out, but he could see that you were smiling.
You had adjusted to life in Pabu easier than the rest of them, trusting the people here immediately and wholeheartedly. Sure, the rest of the squad was opening up, too, but there was something nagging at the back of Hunter’s brain every time he watched you make a new acquaintance.
Your laugh caught his attention and he watched as your hand touched the man’s arm, steadying yourself.
He heard Omega approach from his side. “Hunter?” she questioned, following his line of sight to you.
“Yeah?”
“Is everything okay?”
He briefly glanced down at her. “Yeah, everything is fine.”
Omega nodded, but her curious gaze stuck on him. “You’re doing it again.”
Hunter’s brow furrowed a little more. “What?”
She shrugged. “Echo told me I had to keep an extra eye on you because you do this thing where you stare at them looking all grumpy. He said that you were gonna scare them off.”
Hunter’s gaze finally fully shifted to her. “I don’t do that,” he protested, earning an incredulous look from his sister.
“Why are you always so angry with them anyway? They’re really nice and funny-”
“I’m not angry,” Hunter interjected with a sigh. “I just think they trust too easily.”
“Oh,” Omega hummed, drawing out the vowel. “So you’re protecting them?”
A vague suspicion tagged at the back of his brain as her tone shifted, but he ignored it as he kept his eyes on you. “Sure.”
“You don’t watch Tech or Wrecker like this,” she pointed out.
Hunter sighed. “They don’t get into trouble as much.”
“Is that the only reason?”
“Omega,” Hunter warned.
“Don’t you trust them?”
“I do, but-”
“I think you like them.”
Hunter all but growled in frustration. “Look, sometimes you have to keep an eye on people you lo– people you care about to make sure that they’re okay.”
“So,” Omega murmured. “You do care about them.”
“Yes.”
“A lot?”
“Ye– they’re part of this squad.”
He wasn’t sure when exactly she had left his side, his attention focused on you as you accompanied the neighbor back through the streets of Pabu.
It had taken quite a bit of practice, but Omega was getting better at evading her brother’s heightened senses. She ducked underneath a wall with flowers growing out of it, whispering your name as you emerged from your new friend’s house.
“Omega?” you chuckled. “What are you doing?”
“Get down here!” she hissed, her tone setting off an alarm in your mind, but her grin soothing it.
You knelt down next to her. “What’s going on?”
“Remember that special mission?” she smiled, excitement permeating the air around her.
You eyed her suspiciously. “Omega-”
“I know you said to drop it,” she explained. “But I think I’ve made some progress!”
You sighed, running a hand down your face as she continued.
“He only glares at you like that because he’s trying to protect you,” she informed you. “He thinks you get into trouble a lot, so he has to make sure you’re okay. But he said he cares about you a lot.”
You blinked at her, the information still processing.
“Why- why didn’t he come and talk to me himself?” you mumbled.
“Echo said it’s because he’s scared of you,” Omega stated, matter-of-factly.
You scoffed. “Scared of me? Look at me, ‘Meg; I’m not exactly intimidating.”
“Perhaps not physically,” Tech suddenly appeared at the other side of the wall they were sitting against, startling you. “But given that Hunter has seldom cared for anyone outside of his siblings, it stands to reason that his affection for you feels unfamiliar and therefore, uncomfortable.”
Tech continued on to inform Omega about how she can improve at staying out of Hunter’s awareness as you sat, trying to absorb the information. One phrase hummed through your body on repeat. He cares about you.
As it neared sunset, you found yourself sitting on the edge of the dock, staring out at the horizon.
“Mind if I join you?” Hunter asked. You nodded with a small smile.
He sat next to you, mirroring the way your feet hung over the side. You sat there together in an easy silence, though you could tell he had something to say.
“Did Omega tell you I was here?” you prompted. Maybe you could draw something out of the terse sergeant.
“Uh, yeah,” he hummed.
“So you came looking for me?”
He nodded, awkwardly sparing a glance towards you.
You smirked. “What can I do for you, Hunter?”
He felt his body humming with electricity as you said his name. You have no idea the effect you have on me, he thought.
“No? Maybe you could tell me,” you suggested, watching his entire face bloom into a deep red as he realized he’d voiced what he meant to stay in his head. You set a hand gently on his knee, noting the tiny gasp he made. “I have it on pretty good authority that you care about me.”
Hunter swallowed. Omega was so grounded.
“Perhaps our little double agent didn’t relay information back to you,” you mused.
“No?” he nearly whispered.
“She told me how you feel, but I don’t think she told you how I feel,” you smiled, feeling your own cheeks warm under his intense gaze.
Hunter’s mouth felt dry and his heart pounded against his ribcage. “And how do you feel?”
This was it. You had to say it now.
“To put it simply, I’m in love with you, Hunter.”
Time stopped around you, the ocean ceased its ebb and flow, the sun paused where it hung low in the sky. There was no sound but both of your heartbeats as you gazed at one another. Hunter’s mouth was parted in a tiny ‘o’ like he couldn’t believe what you’d just confessed.
Reality snapped back into place around you as he began to smile. He leaned towards you, one hand coming up to cup the side of your face. “I’m in love with you, too, mesh’la.”
Neither of you knew who’d closed the gap first, your lips slotting together in a deep and overdue embrace. He broke the contact first, resting his forehead against yours as he attempted to catch his breath. In this moment, it was just you and Hunter.
Neither of you heard the hoots and hollering of the rest of the squad.

chapter one!
01. trivial matters and a cocktail
Tumblr media
WHISPERS ROSE THROUGHOUT the massive dome room as Senators talked together about trivial matters. Senator Sokanara Tanobi tapped a button on her pod, loosely holding the handles as the pod moved to conjoin with Senator Bail Organa's pod.
"Senator," she greeted with a smile. The pods bumped together gently before latching onto each other magnetically.
"Hello Senator Tanobi," Organa greeted diplomatically, not looking up from the screen ingrained into the pod, "Do you have a matter to discuss?"
Soka continued to grin at him, leaning back slightly in her pod. "Can't one come to a friend to say hi?"
A breathy snort came from Organa as he pulled away from the screen on his pod. "Oh yes, but I feel that you would have done so outside of the council meeting rather than now, so I suspect that you are up to something."
Soka's smiled brightened as she jumped up, practically leaning across her pod into the side of Senator Organa's pod as she stared up at him with glimmering eyes.
"You know me too well, Orgy." A laugh came from the younger female as a look of disgust appeared on Organa's face. "Have you no shame? Never call me that again." Organa told her sternly, glancing around briefly to make sure no one overheard her embarrassing, and frankly very suggestive, nickname.
Soka shrugged, "Teasing you is all part of the fun," she tapped her fingers on the outline of her pod, "and I'm quite bored, so I would say no, I currently have no shame."
Organa raised an eyebrow at the Senator who was tracing the curved metal lines that ran along the outside of the pod. He sighed as he presented the room with his arm to Soka, "You do realize you are standing in one of the most dignified and important places in all of Coruscant, and you are complaining that you are bored? Shouldn't you go interact with other senators instead of bugging me?"
Soka glanced up at Organa, a teasing glint in her eye. "Now," she started, "why would I go converse with people who think that clones do not deserve a place in the galaxy like us?" Organa furrowed his brow, trying to figure out where Soka was taking the conversation, "I think it's quite harming actually, to speak with people who have such low intelligence like them. I might lose a brain cell or two just by listening to their stupidity."
Organa pursed his lips, trying not to laugh at Soka's blatant roast. "Now now Tanobi, I think you should be generous when speaking about your elders like that. You are lucky that they aren't currently swarming you for your harsh words."
"Of course they wouldn't swarm me, Organa, they are so old that they can't hear what I am saying anyways." Soka put her hands to her hips in a mocking manner, swinging her right hip to the side. Organa rolled his eyes at Soka's sass, barely having to lean forward as he flicks her easily upon the head.
Soka scowled as she held a hand up to her forehead, peeking up at Organa through her lashes. "So, so cruel. Whatever have I faulted you for?"
Organa smirked at Soka, "I swear I feel like your father at times. You are just a silly child who does not understand the trouble she could be in if others had heard her thoughtless words."
Soka sighed, opening her mouth to retort, but the bell sounded, ending the break and signaling the ending of the session. Soka waved goodbye at Organa as she clicked a button on her pod, watching the magnetic force dwindle and turn off, the two pods detaching once the shield was diminished.
Soka and Organa both clicked a small orange button which turned their pods to return to its home spot in the massive wall. Other pods around them did the same, the room shining from the glint of metal dancing around the room before coming to a stop.
Soka turned to the right, noticing the young blue senator in the pod next to her. The Senator looked quite frazzled from the talk she must have just had with the other senators, causing Soka to frown in response.
"Senator Chuchi?" She asked gently, catching the young girl's attention. Chuchi turned her gaze from her pod screen to Soka's own gaze. "Ah, yes. So sorry, what were you saying?" She asked, her hands visibly shaking from anger or from nerves, Soka couldn't tell.
"Are you quite alright? You seem a bit shaken." Soka asked, reaching a hand out to comfort the young woman. Even though Soka was quite a young Senator, joining the council when she was at the bright age of 22, Senator Chuchi looked to be even younger.
A hum came from Chuchi as she thought over her answer before clenching her hands into small fists. "The other senators and I had a bit of a quarrel since we didn't agree to each others statements."
Soka bit her lip and a breezy laugh came from her. "Ah yes, those old squirts. Might I ask what you all were debating about?"
Chuchi's gaze hardened and she turned her gaze into a glare at the Senators she was talking to a short while ago. "The rights of the clones."
A smile came to Soka's face, "Ah, clones. They are quite interesting beings, aren't they?" Chuchi whipped her head to stare at Soka, a distrustful look on her face. "Interesting?" She asked, "in what way?"
Soka nodded to herself as she moved her hands into a ball in front of her. "They all look the same, harbor the same brain, or something similar to it, and some even act the same. But the interesting thing about them is that they all couldn't be any more different from each other. I've met the most wonderful clones who look exactly alike, but have such different personalities." Chuchi smiled in relief at Soka's words.
"I completely agree, Senator! They are as much as living beings as we are but some other Senators don't agree purely because they were created in a lab instead of a womb or a shell like others." Chuchi seemed super enthusiastic about the subject and it broke Soka's heart at how most people in the galaxy wouldn't be as inclusive and happy about the Clones getting recognition and rights.
The chat between Chuchi and Soka was cut short when a booming voice filled the room. "Discussions and votes for Vice Admiral Rampart's bill has been delayed to the next session and the discussion for the Rights of Clones has been pushed to the next session as well." A buzzing sound filled the room, "Galactic Senate adjourned."
Senators left their pods as the doors behind them opened, their representative space turning off and leaving a shadow as they disappeared. Soka gave a small wave to Chuchi as she too left her pod, the lights turning off behind her. Two male guards awaited her outside her space.
They looked down at their Senator, a sharp nod in greeting. Soka nodded back, her face turning to stone as some of the other... troublesome senators walked by. She watched them leave with a huff before walking in the opposite direction to find the exit.
"Blaise?" She spoke into the air, the guard on her right leaning forward. "Yes ma'am?" She turned to look at the dark skinned male, "Cancel the meeting with Senator Kobat, I wish to take the rest of the evening for myself."
Blaise whipped a pad out of his pouch and tapped away as they continued to walk forward. "And Okiver?" Okiver, the pink skinned Zeltron male, a person of her own species, looked down at her. "Could you make sure to grab Blaise and go to the diner down at the center? I wish for you and your boyfriend to have the rest of the day off as well."
Okiver's pink skin turned red at Soka's statement. Soka raised an eyebrow at Okiver's embarrassment, "Do you not wish for me to refer to Blaise as your boyfriend?" Okiver scratched his neck as he opened the door to lead them outside of the building. "It's not that... it just takes a while to get used to hearing it." Soka patted her guard on the shoulder.
"Well by the time you get used to using the term "boyfriend", you'll have to get use to the word "husband" instead." Okiver's face turned a brighter shade of red, and if his skin wasn't already pink and bright, Soka might've thought that something was wrong with him.
Soka spotted her transportation already waiting at the edge of the sidewalk and turned to her two guards. Blaise, who had already put the pad away, stared down at her suspiciously. "Ma'am, I know what you are about to suggest, and I suggest against it."
Soka sent him a fake offended look as she stopped walking, making the two stop walking with her. "Whatever could you mean? You make me sound as if I'm the one on the wrong."
Okiver sighed, giving Blaise an exasperated look. "Are you going to ask me to count?" He asked Soka. Soka twirled around to meet his eyes, "Why of course! You know me far too well." Blaise threw his hands up in the air from behind Soka, "Why do I even try?!"
Soka stuck her tongue out at Blaise as she dug her heel into the ground. Blaise rolled his eyes, copying her movement.
"Three,"
Soka drew a sharp breath, mentally preparing herself.
"Two,"
Blaise stiffened beside her, also seemingly preparing himself, despite the relaxed face he held.
"One,"
A beaming smile appeared on Soka's face as Blaise gritted his teeth, waiting for the signal.
"Go!"
Blaise and Soka sprinted forward, leaving Okiver behind them to eat their dust. With a small sigh, Okiver started walking forward, ignoring the onlookers who weren't used to the shenanigans the young senator got up to. Some people who frequented the senate knew how eccentric she could be.
Okiver forced himself to jog behind the two airheads, who were already arguing at the speeder. Okiver expected them to be arguing about who won, but instead it seemed more like Blaise was scolding Soka for something, whilst she responded with a sour face.
"You can't just run into an elderly woman without apologizing!" He exclaimed in frustration, looking as if he was only a minute away from tugging his own hair out, or maybe Soka's, Okiver couldn't tell.
"She was in the way!" Soka replied hotly, a frown gracing her lips. "And for your information I did apologize!"
Blaise scowled, "Oh yeah, like giving a brief sorry and a wave does any good."
Soka tried to stand as tall as tall as she could, as tall as a 1.8m person could against a 1.9m person that is. Soka puffed out her cheeks as she stared angrily at Blaise, crossing her arms.
"I refuse to talk to a salty winner." She stuck her head to the side, looking at Okiver. Okiver raised his hands in the air, showing he was innocent. "I have literally no say in this since I didn't see her knocking into anyone."
Blaise huffed, reaching behind Soka and putting an arm on her neck. "Whatever, stop being stubborn and get in the transport." Soka frowned, peering up at Blaise. "What if I don't want to?"
Blaise reached down and swooped Soka up bridal style, ignoring her shrieks of surprise and practically shoved her into the back seat of the transport. "You have no say, Soapy."
Soka's face burned in embarrassment as she stuck her tongue at Blaise. "Wow, so mature." Blaise responded as he jumped over Okiver's seat to get into the driver's seat.
Okiver sighed in exasperation for the umpteenth time that day, and it was only 1600 hours.  He piled into the car after Blaise and slumped in his seat, looking in the review mirror at Soka who had already gotten out her holopad to most likely message Senator Organa.
Okiver kind of pitied Senator Organa for the obsession that Soka had with him. "Soka," Okiver spoke up, "Stop bothering Senator Organa."
Soka raised an eyebrow at him, Blaise doing the same but keeping his eye on the traffic lanes.
"I'm not 'bothering' Bail." Soka said with a small laugh, handing her holopad forward to Okiver. "Apparently a defective clone batch was just reported dead. Clone Force 99, I think they are called."
Okiver had to do a double take at her words. Practically snatching the holopad from her hands, Okiver skimmed the article that Soka was reading.
"Do you know who Clone Force 99 is?" Okiver asked Soka, knowing that Blaise knew who they were due to Okiver's fanboy behavior over the batch.
Soka thought for a second, a pouty frown as she tapped her chin. "Nope." She finally said, popping the p.
Okiver opened his mouth to start his rambling session with excitement but Blaise reached a hand over, placing it on his thigh. "Take a breath first. You don't want to drown her in your words."
Okiver closed his mouth with a click, mulling over what he was going to say in his mind.
"Can I have my holopad back?" Soka asked, breaking him out of his thoughts. Okiver reached behind his head, passing the holopad back to Soka.
"So who's the Clone Force 99?" She asked, placing her pad in her lap with an innocent look gracing her face. Soka knew some details about the C. Force 99, but she knew how excited Okiver got with something he really liked, so she pretended to be oblivious so he could teach her.
"Only the best clone batch out there!" Okiver said, throwing his hands up and almost hitting his boyfriend. With a quick sorry, he turned in his seat to face Soka.
"Clone Force 99, otherwise known as The Bad Batch, is a group of defective clones. Well, they are called defective but it's just cause they have mutations." Okiver started, clasping his hands together.
"The leader, Hunter is his name, can sense magnetic waves and track things really well, and this is only just what I know of. He's the one for creating and calling plans and making sure his batch is safe and unharmed. He's also really hot-" Okiver received a light hit to the back of his head by Blaise. "Not as hot as you of course, babe." Okiver told Blaise with a smile, before turning back to Soka with a knowing glint in his eyes.
"His old second in command, Crosshair, has exceptional eyesight and is the sharpshooter of their team. He and the rest of the Bad Batch had a bit of a scuffle a while ago and instead of betraying the empire like they did, he stayed and decided to hunt them down. Really sad, but he wasn't the hottest so I'm not complaining." Soka rolled her eyes with a smile, knowing how biased Okiver could be with hot men.
"The brains of the operation is Tech, or his full name is Technically but he uses Tech. He is the one who knows all the knowledge and helps create the strategies. I'm pretty sure he's usually the pilot as well.
Wrecker, the big guy, he's the muscles. Usually people would think of him as all brawn no brain, but even if he isn't the brightest lightsaber out of the pack, he still has a lot of strategy and fun about him. He also likes to blow things up." Okiver grinned a sneaky grin, leaning over to Soka.
He cupped his hands to whisper in Soka's ear, "Tech is the cutest one but Wrecker seems like he'd be a mean guy in the sheets." Soka lurched away from Okiver, her eyes wide and face flushed at hearing what Okiver said. With a withering glare at Okiver, not trusting her mouth to say something stupid, Okiver shrugged in response. "Just saying. Wrecker is a total sweetheart though, I heard a clone say he's got this really adorable Tooka doll name Lula or something."
Soka waved her hand, "Is that all of them?"
Okiver shook his head, "They added a person to their group, Echo is his name. He doesn't have mutations like the others but when he was captured and held on Skako Minor, some.. unpleasant things were done to him and he received some metal limbs during his time there. He kinda strikes me as a babysitter who would tut over the group, but I think Hunter does that job."
Soka frowned, "People in this galaxy are so cruel, I can't believe they would do that to him."
Okiver nodded, a solemn look on his face. "And the last person, the main reason I think Crosshair left the team, is a little clone baby named Omega. Well she isn't a baby, but she's a child compared to them. I can't remember why they left with her, but they've been traveling with her ever since. I've heard whispers from Cid's contacts that she has a really good team of people in armor who do her tasks for her, so we've all just assumed it's the Bad Batch."
Soka nodded, inhaling all the new information she received. "Also aren't they rumored to have 100% success rate? How come they are reported dead then?"
Okiver's face dropped at her words, and he turned back around in his seat. "I'm not sure, but the article says they died in the Kamino storm that destroyed the cities, though Kamino was built to survive all those kind of storms. So I don't know why this one knocks them out."
Soka sighed, "That's honestly really sad. I would've loved to meet them." Okiver nodded in agreement.
"I love the sentiment and sadness and whatever, but we are coming up on your residence, Soka, so I recommend you start picking up your dress and don't forget your holopad when you leave." Blaise spoke up, snapping the two Zeltron's out of their sadness trance.
Soka sent him a thumbs up, gathering her holopad and dress into her lap.
The transport pulled in front of the Tanobi Residence shortly after. A huge white building that towered over most of the other buildings and was so huge it went into the clouds, the penthouse that is, of course. The penthouse is where Soka lived, while the rest of the Tanobi residence served as a hotel.
The doorman walked up to the transport, recognizing that it was Soka's.
"Lady Tanobi," He greeted with a small bow. Soka nodded back, slipping out of the door once the doorman opened it for her. She waved goodbye at Blaise and Okiver before following the doorman over to the main door.
Soka's feet tapped impatiently against the tile of the elevator floor as the number ticked up slowly.
75...
89...
97...
99...
100.
The elevator dinged, opening the doors to the entrance hall of Soka's penthouse.
A guard stood at the entrance, turning to the opening doors and pointing his blaster at Soka.
"Password?"
Soka looked the guard in the eyes, standing tall as she spoke, "Sokanara Tanobi."
The guard relaxed with a small smile, shaking his head. "Welcome home, Soka. I really don't see the point in the password sometimes, it's not like anyone else can get up here without the key in the elevator."
Soka waved her hand as the guard followed her to the dining room, "Just extra precautions. We live in desperate times, Joqin."
Joqin laughed as he accepted the cocktail glass that Soka handed over. "Oh lay off it, sis. As a Senator, you are technically more safe than anyone here." Soka raised an eyebrow at her guard, who deemed it funny to call her sis just because they were of the same species.
"And also the one in the most danger if I offend anyone and they decide that I've breathed enough in this lifetime." Soka added, mixing up a cocktail drink and pouring some in her own glass before adding it to Joqin's.
Joqin shrugged, "That too I guess."
Soka knocked back her drink, swallowing almost half of it before placing it down with an aggressive clink, sighing to herself. Joqin took minute sips, drinking slowly as he watched her crumble to frustration. Whenever Soka drank, her emotions become amplified and she mostly gets angry.
"I know for a fact that you were having too much fun with Okiver and Blaise. Why do you seem like someone just pissed in your drink?"
Soka frowned at Joqin's use of words. "It's just so... unfair. I would say."
Joqin raised an eyebrow, gesturing for her to continue as he drank some more.
Soka grumbled to her self as she picked up her cup and tipped more into her mouth, wiping her lips harshly. "Those Senators are just such pieces of bantha shit sometimes. They think their words are approved by the high or something!"
Joqin chuckled, "And?"
"And- and they don't believe Clones deserve rights like the rest of us!" Soka's fists clenched and unclenched around the glass.
She finished the rest of her drink and moved to bite the cup, but Joqin quickly replaced her glass cup with a sugar cup. Soka chewed angrily on the sugar champagne glass, her sharp teeth scraping against the hard surface and giving her skin jitters.
"So you are angry because the Senators believe that Clones shouldn't have rights purely because they were used for the war?"
Soka nodded mutely, her face twisted into a sour look. She nibbled a small dent into her sugar cup before adding more of the drink into her cup.
"Is there anything you are going to do to help the clones?" Joqin asked after a brief moment of silence.
Soka chewed at the edge of the cup, thinking over her response. "Well, I could go to 79's and try to get information on the rights they want? Some proof that they are good helping people to the society and that they deserve the rights?"
Even though he didn't really understand the ways of a Senator, Joqin still smiled warmly, trying to encourage her, "Exactly. Now get your sheb out there and make some noise."
Soka nodded, a newfound determination filling her veins. "Yeah! Yeah I think I will."
Soka gripped her sugar champagne glass tightly within her fingers. "Can you drive me though? I still technically need a guard."
Joqin chuckled, "Don't worry, I've got a spare already decked and ready in the garages."
Soka grinned toothily at him. "I'll buy you a drink there, I know you like the strawberry fizz."
"You know damn well I do." Joqin moved swiftly out to the elevator, twirling the keys on his finger. "Let's get this show on the road."
ᯓ★
and chapter one is finished! this is a bit of a doozy as these first handful of chapters are the backstory to soka's life and building up her character, though i will be going fast-ish so we can get to the main plot asap.
as much as i LOVE writing, writing doesnt always love me and makes me write some things that doesnt entirely make sense and are a bit shoddy sounding, so dont be shy to give some CONSTRUCTIVE criticism.
yes soka's character is supposed to be silly and child-like and emotional and fast-minded because she was forced to mature quickly in order to get into the senator business as young as possible, so she's going to revert sometimes and be a bit of a comedic relief. if you dont like that, then this isnt the story for you and i recommend you find a new story and not slander soka for being a bit goofy.
have a good day and dont forget to drink water! :D

Hunter hasn’t gotten a proper break since the squad left Kamino the first time… I feel like he takes care of everyone but forgets about himself, typical eldest sibling in crisis mode :((

Bad Batch Prompt Event #1
or, The One Where Freesia Doesn't Actually Write the Prompt
SO LISTEN. I loved writing the SFW Part One where I actually did use the prompt, but I got so lost in writing this smutty Part Two that I completely forgot the NSFW prompt lines. However, I hope that the melty sweet/sexy passion with Hunter will make up for it. ;) If not, you can kick me out of the event. ;) DIVIDER by @snotbuggle!!
NSFW - MINORS DNI - Content below the cut... haha, get it... CUT?
Tumblr media
Hunter x F!Reader Word Count: 3k Content: groping, kissing, titty suckin, fingering, being politely bent over the knee, bangin in a few positions, and a few bad words.
READ PART ONE HERE
Months passed, and you couldn’t believe your luck, that the quick-witted, clever, insightful, and damn sexy Sergeant of Clone Force 99 seemed to feel the same way about you as you did about him. You’d exchanged information, messaging as much as possible when he wasn’t putting his life on the line in death-defying shenanigans, and you’d see each other whenever he was on world. You’d surreptitiously worked out your own work schedule to be able to split your time between Kamino and Coruscant, allowing you to see him more often, and you felt giddy as you thought of all the deep kisses and passionate groping that you’d enjoyed in a variety of closets, storage crates, empty barracks, and dark alleyways.
Things had progressed deliciously, the two of you exploring one another’s bodies in an increasingly wide variety of ways. You’d always been self-conscious, but the way he could wrap himself around you and drown you in raw passion was unlike anything you’d ever experienced. It was intoxicating, the increasing vulnerability and authenticity in all areas, as you grew to know one another through and through. The trust, connection, and comfort was incredibly special to you, and you were excited to see where it would lead. It had been ages since he’d been to Coruscant, and far too long since you’d seen each other, so when you received his message to let you know he had an entire night to spend however he liked, you were beyond excited.
You cleaned your apartment like mad, working yourself nearly into exhaustion, then took the most thorough shower of your life. Shaving, exfoliating, and scrubbing was followed by moisturizing and fretting over what to wear. The tone of your messages of late had been decidedly hungrier, and unless you were wildly off base, you had a feeling there would be a new level of desire this evening. He’d given little hints of “the things he wanted to do to you”, and just the thought of all that might await made you ache between the legs. You dried your hair, brushing it until it was soft as silk as you sipped a glass of sparkling wine, then stood in front of your closet, trying to gauge what the perfect vibe would be.
Pleasantly buzzed from the wine and absolutely drunk with excitement, you dug out a wrinkled paper bag from the back of a shelf, dumping its contents on the bed. A messy pile of lingerie sat before you – stuff you’d bought in your younger days when you were more ambitious and less realistic – and you picked up thing after thing, squinting in estimation of how it might look. Finally, you saw the perfect set and pulled it on, examining yourself in the mirror with a giddy, carefree attitude. You pulled a long, satin robe over the whole thing, then wondered if that was too presumptuous… which made you laugh out loud. He was coming in late, past dinnertime for you at least, but you had a little something ready just in case, and you busied yourself with final touches to your face, hair, and apartment as you waited.
Ding dong.
Your heart leapt in your chest as you flung the door open, so happy to see him after so long. You had to do a double-take, jaw dropping a bit as you took in the whole sight of him. He had ditched the armor, the only thing you’d ever seen him in, and instead was sporting civilian clothing that was positively drool-worthy: perfectly-fitted jeans and a dark green henley sat beneath a rugged jacket that hung from his broad shoulders.
“Holy kriff,” you gawked, backing up to invite him in but unable to take your eyes off of him. “What’s all this?”
“A snaaaaack,” he said in a voice that made you both burst into laughter.
“Okay, never say that again,” you declared once you’d regained your breath. “I have so many questions.”
“I lost a bet to Echo, so I had to say that,” Hunter explained, grinning as he drew close to you again. “As for the outfit, Tech offered it as ‘a calculated presentation not dissimilar to the breeding displays of animals’, so I couldn’t pass up on that.”
“Oh my gosh.” You were speechless, momentarily forgetting all that you were wearing and had been dreaming of for this evening. But Hunter hadn’t forgotten. He stepped closer, toying with your waist as he gazed at you fondly.
“So… you like… breeding displays… I can’t do this, I’m sorry,” he laughed, shaking his head and returning to his usual stoicism a bit. “I’m just happy to see you.”
“You too,” you said, more softly now, as your mind wandered back to everything before you. You ran your hands up his arms and across his chest, reveling in the little tease of the unbuttoned neckline of his henley shirt, and pulled his jacket from his shoulders to toss onto the table nearby. He pulled you in, cupping your face and brushing a thumb along your cheek, and you relaxed into his embrace, falling silent for a while and just basking in the happiness of his presence. You closed your eyes, tilting your head into his hand, and let out a little sigh.
“Can I kiss you?” he whispered huskily, and you opened your eyes with a giggle.
“How many times do I have to tell you that you don’t have to ask anymore?”
“Oh, right. Must have forgotten.”
Then his mouth was on yours, tender and sweet at first, lips sliding along your own with delicate precision. They were so soft, pressing and pulling, again and again as the intensity grew and his head tilted to kiss you more deeply. His hand remained on your jaw, fingers splayed along your neck, and the other flattened across the small of your back, pulling you flush against him. You savored every part of him that you could feel, from his muscular thigh to his broad chest, and you gasped quietly when his lips blazed a train to your neck. He carefully slid the silky fabric of your robe off your shoulder, pressing a few lingering kisses along your collarbone before lifting his face to yours again.
He studied you with a mix of affection and desire, gently running his fingers through your hair before gripping a fistful and kissing you again, harder this time. You lost yourself in it, dizzy from the way his chest rose and fell against you, his hands heavier as they roamed your hips… Your own fingers explored his stomach and caressed his arms as you writhed against him, feeling your entire body coming alive more and more with all the pent-up yearning and hunger.
“Bedroom?” you gasped, pulling back for a breath of air after a particularly intense bout of kisses.
“Eventually,” he said, eyes dark with desire now as he toyed with the hem of your robe. A jolt of electricity ran through you, and you slid your hands beneath his shirt, pulling it up over his head before returning your palms to his front. He slipped his own fingers past your satin robe, which was starting to messily hang open now, and you arched your back with a sharp inhale as he traced his fingers along the curve of your side, up toward the cream-colored bra you’d chosen. It was nothing flashy, unlike the strappy, lacy numbers you’d considered, but was made of the most irresistibly soft silk you’d ever felt, and you smiled against his mouth as he stiffened the slightest bit when his hands reached it. You knew how to intoxicate his senses.
His fingers grazed your breast, the thin fabric doing nothing to conceal the pebbling of your nipple in response. Kissing you again, he brought his other hand up, grasping both sides with a gentle firmness that got another breathy inhale out of you. He nestled his nose against the side of your face, staggering his legs between your own and whispering against your ear.
“The things I want to do to you…” he purred, and you swallowed hard, tilting your face into his as his touch on your chest grew heavier, cupping and fondling, teasing and stroking. You were aching for him so badly, slick between your legs, and when he gently squeezed both nipples at once, you couldn’t hold back a quiet moan. There was a feral edge to his voice, a restraint to his touch, and you were wildly aroused at the thought of what his unrestrained passion would look like.
“Fuck me,” you whispered, placing a firm hand over the bulge in his pants and smiling faintly at his hiss in response. “I mean it,” you continued, and that alone seemed to send him over the edge. He turned you around in a flash, pulling you back against him as his hands roamed freely across your front, scooping up a breast as he raked his teeth along your neck. He kissed and suckled, rolling a nipple between his fingers as the other hand ventured down, across your stomach, and over your thinly-clothed mound. Stepping away for a split second, he tugged your robe off, tossing it aside and returning to his ravaging position, radiating heat against your back as he teased along your panty line.
“I think I’ll make you wait, just a little…” he murmured against your shoulder, dipping his fingers beneath the silk underwear to tease along the edges of your folds. You stepped your legs a little further apart, his other arm bracing across the front of your shoulders as he kissed your neck again.
“Let’s see how long you can,” you challenged, feeling him stiffen against you with his own yearning. You lifted an arm behind your head, burying your fingers in his hair and leaning your head to the side, tilting your hips toward his hand as it stroked feather-light against your clit. Biting back the curses, you shifted back a little, grinding against his hard length and reveling in his low groan in response.
“Playing games, are we?” He pressed his fingers a little harder, teasing you with a few circles that sent tingles radiating throughout your entire body before pulling away and moving toward the couch, quickly shedding all remaining clothing as he went. You felt positively feral at the sight of him, messy and carnal, and dropped your robe as you followed. He sat down, spreading his legs, and you were ready to drop to your knees, but he reached for you gently, stopping you with your hips in front of his face, where he kissed and bit your side as he slowly slid your panties down your legs. You were a mess already, not wanting to wait another second to ride him into the sunset, but he had you absolutely enraptured, and the dominant energy radiating off of him was intoxicating.
He kissed your stomach, gazing up at you with unbridled lust, and the sight alone nearly sent you into orbit. He was so incredibly hot, so free in his passion… When he carefully guided you to lay across his thighs, face down, you gasped as the cool air hit your pussy, slightly spread as your knees rested off to the sides. He caressed your face again, holding it up so it wasn’t dangling uncomfortably, then raked his fingernails up the inside of a thigh. You writhed beneath his touch, one hand wrapping around his ankle in an attempt to ground yourself from the heady pleasure washing over you from head to toe. He traced his fingers across your folds, up and down, then teased the inside of the other thigh. You whined. You couldn’t help it. You’d been waiting long enough. A smile touched his lips, and he moved his hand back up, stroking firm fingers across you again, from your clit to your opening, then back again. He slowly circled your clit again, then nudged his fingers against your opening, sinking in just a bit before returning to the up and down slide that was threatening to make you come from that alone.
“Hunter,” you breathed against his thigh, holding onto him for dear life as your legs twitched behind you. He pressed in again, deeper this time, then stroked you again and again. The rhythm was euphoric, and his cock was hard against your side as he slid his fingers back and forth, dipping in and out. When he turned his hand slightly to reach that sensitive spot inside, you were seeing stars, panting against his hand as he pressed inside of you, one finger still dragging along your clit. “Please,” you begged, truly unable to take any more. He picked up on your tone and slowly released you, carefully helping you to your feet, where you immediately straddled him, sinking onto his lap. He pulled the silky bra off, inhaling sharply as your breasts spilled into his hands, and he brought his mouth to them immediately, swirling his tongue amid kisses and suckles.
You arched into his ravaging, his hands roving up and down your back as you rocked against his cock, hard between the two of you. You wanted to take him right there, and buried your hands in his hair, angling yourself to guide him in. He paused for a moment as though thinking, and then his eyes clenched shut in absolute bliss as you sank down on him, slowly. He grunted an expletive, tipping his chin toward his chest and gripping your waist with desperate concentration. You began to move, savoring every second as he slid along your walls, teasing your entrance with his tip and then taking him back in. When he bottomed out, the friction was incredible, and you tilted your hips to enjoy it more. His hands grasped your ass, lifting you slightly to allow him to press into you, slowly at first, then a bit harder as you moaned your ecstasy against his hair.
“So perfect,” he gasped, the sound of his thighs slapping against you nearly drowning out his worshipful words. He thrust again and again, hitting that spot deep inside and grinding on your clit at the same time. You grabbed the back of the couch, breasts bouncing in his face, and he took one in his mouth again, toying with it with his tongue. The tension was building, and you were sure you were about to go over the edge, but he slowed, causing you to gasp in indignation.
“How dare–”
In one ridiculously smooth motion, because this is fantasy after all, he rose to his feet, scooping you in his arms on the way. Next thing you knew, you were laid flat on your bed, spread out before him on your back as he stood beside the edge, stroking himself as he looked at you with feral hunger.
“I’ll make up for it,” he smirked, sliding his length along your slick folds, the bottom of his cock teasing your clit. He held your legs at his sides, slowly gliding back and forth against you as your pussy clenched around nothing, yearning for him to fill you up again. When he finally did, you reached your arms above your head, grasping the sheets in pure bliss as he sank in, bottoming out with an intoxicating press of the hips against you. It was the most mind-blowing angle, and he began to thrust again, releasing your legs to bend over you, pressing his hand into the bed beside your head. You turned into his wrist, burying your face in his forearm and panting against his skin as he lowered his head, heavy kisses peppered across your collarbone before he drew a flat tongue over a nipple again.
He was the best you’d ever had. You were on another plane of existence, lost in his musky scent, the raw sounds coming from him, the careful strength and consuming passion… He looped an arm beneath your shoulders, cupping the back of your head as you curled your chin to your chest, picking your legs up higher to take him deeper. He groaned his restraint, holding your head close against his neck as he snapped his hips against you again and again. It was so intimate and feral all at once, his body sliding against yours as he fucked you senseless. You could tell he was getting close, and he released you to stand back upright, caressing a bouncing breast with one hand while the other moved between your legs. When he touched your clit, still thrusting the perfect rhythm at an angle that was sending deep waves of pleasure throughout your core, you felt your own climax building at breakneck speed. Your breaths grew faster, whimpers and moans louder, and he didn’t change a thing, circling your clit with the pads of his fingers as he drove his cock into you again and again.
White-hot fireworks exploded across your consciousness, wracking your body with sparkling euphoria as your pussy clenched around him. You couldn’t hold back, mewling encouragement as he continued, chasing his own release as you rode the high. He came with a growl, panting words that you couldn’t make out through his heavy breaths, and his throbbing cock and hot release sent you right back up, drawing out your orgasm even longer as every nerve in your body fired with delight. As his pumping slowed, hot and messy, you remembered to breathe again, shuddering involuntarily as he eventually stilled, holding himself inside of you as he gently bent over you, brushing the hair back from your face and kissing you with unfathomable gentleness and reverence. You couldn’t move, instead remained lying there motionless, grinning like an idiot in the dim light.
“Let’s do that again,” you murmured, ecstatic and the small snort from him as he nuzzled against your cheek.
“I’m gonna need about twenty minutes.”

Bad Batch Prompt Event #1
Much love to @arctrooper69 for making this official, and I can't wait to see what anyone else has written for these prompts! I'm gonna post the SFW part one here and NSFW part two over on @spicy-clones.
Hunter x F!Reader WORD COUNT 3000 my bad! Content: some basic medical descriptions, reader gets her butt smacked at 79s, and a wee bit o kissin. GONNA USE MY SEXY DIVIDERS WITH @pinkiemme's art since it's HUNTER! :D
Tumblr media
“Seriously?” you sighed. “This again?”
“This is completely different than last time,” came the smooth reply, earning both a snort and an eyeroll from you.
“It’s almost exactly the same.”
“Different arm.”
“Oh my gosh.” Your almost-laugh was overshadowed by concern and frustration as you made quick work of the injury and carefully wrapped the gauze around his bicep, trying not to pay too close attention to the gentle curves of the muscles and tendons, the light dusting of hair, the scars and bruises… You cleared your throat, shaking your head minutely and looking back up to his face. That wasn’t any better. His sharp eyes gazed steadily at you, framed by his distinctive nose and the strands of hair that brushed the sides of his face.
“Well thanks as always,” he said quietly, the hint of a rare smile touching the corner of his lips, which were almost always curved in the ghost of a frown from the burdens he carried. You tried to ignore the flutter in your chest, instead nodding and picking up your datapad abruptly to see what else was on the agenda for the Kamino medical bay that day. You looked back to him, offering a small smile and an honest exhortation.
“Take care of yourself, Hunter.”
* * *
You were surprised to see him only a week later, stepping into line behind you in the mess hall with the rest of his squad. They were normally a boisterous bunch, but there seemed to be a heaviness upon them as they moved rather listlessly. Perhaps a mission gone awry, perhaps the regular wear and tear of being mere property in a seemingly endless war. You caught Hunter’s eye as he moved to the front of his group, setting his tray on the shelf beside yours as you slid down the food line.
“You alright?” you asked softly, startling yourself with the gentleness and vulnerability in your own voice and cringing at the fact that you didn’t even lead with a “hello”.
“Yeah,” he said automatically, his flat affect provoking more anxiety than you’d like. You left it at that, unable to stifle the simultaneous warmth and concern emanating from you. You didn’t know what it was about his mere presence, but he exuded both competence and compassion, intelligence and wit, and you perceived the weight of responsibility that hung over his head, both a gift and a curse of his engineered fate.
You’d come to enjoy his med bay visits more and more, although it was never the ideal circumstances to meet. The elaborate fantasies you concocted as you drifted off to sleep were far more appealing, consisting of stargazing cuddles, fancy galas, coffee shop chats, and many other situations you’d want to share with him. As corny as it seemed, more than all of it, you simply wanted to know him, to know the inner workings of his mind, his joys and worries, the things that made him laugh, the way he liked his caf… It wasn’t the first time in your life that you’d harbored a crush for someone who was as unattainable as they were oblivious of your affections, so you settled to daydream and enjoy the times you did get to share.
It helped that your occupation allowed you some quiet moments and gentle touches here and there. Although, perhaps “helped” was the wrong word.
* * *
“We need you in room 6 immediately,” crackled the voice on your commlink, and you set aside the instruments you’d been cleaning and adjusting, heading that way with urgency. When the door slid open, you felt a jolt of electricity run through your body at the sight of a hulking clone on the exam table, covered in dried blood and haphazardly-wrapped bandages. You knew who it was without seeing his face, which was almost entirely obscured, and before your emotions could catch up, you snapped into work mode.
“What are we dealing with?” you asked the others, who were moving in smooth synchronization to free his head and scan him head to toe.
“CT-9903. Explosion and shrapnel, blunt force trauma, multiple lacerations…” your assistant reported, eyes flitting across the scanner screen.
“That’s gonna leave a mark,” your other colleague said, stuffing the wads of bandages into the garbage and pulling on a fresh set of gloves.
“Let’s get to work,” you muttered.
A few hours later, he was cleaned up and sleeping comfortably, one eye closed serenely beneath a spiral of neatly-wrapped gauze that covered the rest of his head. You slipped into the room and tapped the screens, confirming the notes your assistant had entered, then rested a hand on his broad forearm, watching his chest rise and fall and sending out all the comforting and healing vibes you could muster.
“He seems alright,” came a smooth, low voice from behind you, making you jump and emit the tiniest squawk. You whirled around to see Hunter in a chair in the corner, reclining with his legs crossed out in front of him. He’d phrased it as a statement but the inflection of his voice indicated a question, and you exhaled in an attempt to regain your composure.
“First of all, hi. Next time, can you greet me when I come into the room instead of scaring the crap out of me?” you said, accompanied with a little laugh that sounded forced.
“We’ll see,” he returned evenly, keeping his face straight despite your smirk.
“That’s an order, Sergeant,” you attempted, delighting in the slight spark in his eyes as he raised his eyebrows.
“Oh really,” he said, lowering his chin just enough to bring some hair across his forehead as he regarded you with a stare that you could have sworn held a hint of smolder. But perhaps you were seeing what you wanted to see. Your fingers twitched at your sides, yearning to stroke the tufts back from his face… and other stuff…
“Yeah, anyway…” you said suddenly, clearing your throat and turning businesslike all of a sudden. “He should be fine. We’ll run some more tests when he wakes up to check on his hearing. The lacerations should heal easily, and he was lucky enough to avoid any serious contusions, somehow. I don’t know what you all were doing out there but this guy needs a thicker helmet.”
“I’ll make sure to request that from the armory.”
“I’m sure they’ll be wildly helpful and accommodating.”
“Always.”
A silence fell for a moment, then he rose to his feet, stretching to his full height and picking up his backpack.  He slung it across his shoulders, along with the concerns and duties that awaited him, and gave you a cordial nod.
“Thanks for taking care of him,” he said with genuine sincerity, regarding you with fondness as he stepped closer. Your heart skipped a beat and you felt frozen to the spot, mind racing with a million scenarios you’d envisioned that started out just like this.
“Just doing my job… sir,” you said feebly, swallowing hard as he moved the tiniest bit nearer. You gazed at his eyes, brown at first glance but peppered with pale green and gray upon closer inspection. You could swear you felt the sparks flying between the two of you… until he spoke, shifting slightly to your side.
“Gotta… head out…” he muttered, and you suddenly realized he had actually been trying to get past you. Flushed with hot embarrassment, you moved aside in a flash, turning away to hide your reddening cheeks.
“Sorry, I didn’t sleep too much last night,” you explained quickly, trying not to stutter. “The old brain isn’t working quite so well today.”
“I’m glad you performed cranial surgery on Wrecker, then,” Hunter observed, and you buried your face in a hand.
“I mean, it wasn’t really surgery, but good point,” you laughed, thoroughly mortified now.
You didn’t see the pursed lips hiding his smile as he turned and disappeared out the door.
* * *
You were deeply saddened at first when you were transferred from the Kamino medical bay to the general medical center on Coruscant. But, as your fellow clone-obsessed friend reminded you, you would be able to go with her to 79s on your nights off, where you could enjoy the company of the types of men you’d come to prefer. It had been a hellish week, with too many patients and too few staff members, and you had worked yourself to the bone. It was as good a time as any to blow off some steam, so it took only a little urging from your friend for you to change into some going out clothes, fix up your hair a bit, and hit the town with her.
Typically one for softness and gentleness, you felt an edge to yourself that night. Perhaps it was the build up of all of the frustrating situations at work, but whatever the cause, you didn’t feel like putting up with any kind of BS. So when the first trooper you walked past tried to smack your butt, you turned on him with the raging fury of a thousand suns and gave him a piece of your mind. Your friend stared at you, dumbfounded, and you heard some chuckles and comments from the crowd. Turning away before you melted into an apology, you stalked off to the corner booth you had left your stuff in.
“That was brutal,” a smoky voice said, and you were floored at the sight of Hunter sliding into the booth next to you. Your friend winked at you from where she stood at the bar, still flirting with a couple of troopers. You stared at him, speechless, and he held his hands up in surrender. “I’ll clear out if you’re going to chew me out like that guy. Just wanted to say hi. Haven’t seen you in the med bay in a while.“
“No, stay!“ You said, more eagerness in your voice than you would like to admit. “They transferred me here…”
“And you just had to get your clone fix?”
You blushed, palming your face before taking a long swig of your drink. It was a stiff one, and a fitting way to end your week.
“Just kidding,” he continued, “We both know you just miss yelling at people.”
“Oh, I’m such a yeller,” you rolled your eyes. You had never been anything but gentle and kind with him and the other patients. And he knew it.
Before long, you both found yourselves lost in conversation, and it felt as though your dreams were coming true. Details of his life and thoughts were flowing freely, well, as freely as possible considering the covert nature of most of his experiences, and the two of you settled into a comfortable rhythm as you nursed your drinks and regarded one another. You shared about your training days, mishaps and mayhem, and your goals for the future. He was happy to listen, answering questions but also content to simply sit. You didn’t want to admit just how much you were thrilled by the entire situation.
“Refills?” You asked, gesturing to the empty glasses on the table. He nodded, but then followed you out of the booth. As the two of you leaned against the bar, waiting to be acknowledged, you tilted your head at him, feeling slightly emboldened for a moment, but it quickly melted when his eyes met yours.
“Yes?” He asked, a smirk on his own face.
“Nothing.”
“Doesn’t look like nothing,” he teased. “Looks like you’ve got something you want to say.”
“Maybe there’s lots I want to say,” you clapped back, putting your hand on your hip. “But I don’t think I’m going to.” You gave him a sassy smile in an attempt to hide the complete and total whirlwind of thoughts raging for consideration within you.
He took a step closer, coming into your personal space, and his hand that rested on the bar counter was dangerously close to your waist. You could almost feel his touch, without any contact being made at all. His eyes were dark beneath his brows, his sharp profile illuminated by the colorful lights all around, and your heart skipped a beat.
“You sure?” he purred, a smug look on his face as though he knew the effect he had on you. “Nothing at all?”
“You’re the worst,” you stammered, dropping your chin and fixing your stair on the ground beside you.
“Yeah,” he conceded with a snort. “Well, you still like me.”
Your head flew up faster than a ship jumping into hyperspace, and you stared at him in utter shock as your stomach plunged. Your mouth fell open a little bit as you frantically searched for words, coming up with none and snapping it shut again. He shifted the tiniest fraction closer, looming over you now in a way that would be intimidating if your veins weren’t coursing with adrenaline and the sheer desire to grab his shirt and show him all that you couldn’t say.
“Thought so,” he said with a satisfied rumble of laughter that made your knees weak.
“I don’t… I mean, I couldn’t…” You fumbled hopelessly, turning away a tiny bit as you grappled for any kind of response.
“Hey lady,” a clone voice said from behind you. “ This guy bothering you?” You turned around to see a trooper with his head closely shaved except for some intricate designs along the sides. He was standing tall, an inch or two over Hunter, and had a warm intensity to his gaze that showed genuine concern more than creepiness or bravado.
You looked back to Hunter, who was still leaning on the bar, relaxed and unbothered. He lifted his eyebrows at you, uncharacteristically playful, and said, “Well?”
“I’m fine, thank you,” you said to the blue-armored clone, who gave you a polite nod before leaving with one last suspicious glare at Hunter.
“So… you were saying?” Hunter poked, tilting his head at you and fanning the flame. Was he flirting? For real? Or just trying to make you flustered, for his own fun and entertainment?
“Now you’re just being cruel,” you whined, and he laughed, an authentic, deep sound that made you swoon.
“I would never.”
“Hunter, we’ve got to go,” a pert voice broke through your fantasy, and you turned to see a bespectacled man with a serious face standing beside Hunter, who looked at you with an unreadable expression as your heart sank and disappointment lay heavy over the two of you.
“Well. Hope I see you again,” he admitted, a wistful tone to his voice as he brushed his fingers across the back of your hand, sending a jolt of electricity through you, and dipped his head in goodbye before disappearing out the front door.
You went home to your “personal massager” that night.
* * *
You were finishing the patient notes for the day as you bent over your screen at work, tapping away with diligence as you looked forward to freedom for the evening. It had been nearly a week since you’d seen Hunter at 79s, and you’d been kicking yourself for not speaking up more, or flirting more, or making a move, or something. You doubted your paths would cross again, as your friend shared that she’d only seen Clone Force 99 at the bar once before, and she was quite the regular. Bringing your thoughts back to the present, you groaned inwardly as your comm pinged with an incoming message, and you considered not looking at it to avoid any calls to stay late. But curiosity got the better of you, and you took a look at the screen.
//18:42//-ENCRYPTED- {Chewed out any regs lately?}
Your mouth fell open, brow furrowed, as you studied the message. It wasn’t an internal memo, nor was it from any sort of source you’d seen before. It couldn't be… Could it? You smirked, curious to try something that might seem inconspicuous if it were, in fact, an error, but might be playful if it were him.
//18:43// - {Unfamiliar source number, identification needed.}
The response seemed to take ages.
//18:47//-ENCRYPTED- {Identification can be provided in the maintenance alleyway of the med center.}
You were embarrassed how quickly you got there.
The door swung open into a long, narrow gap between the large hospital buildings, filled with random parts and trash chutes, and your heart leapt in your chest when you saw his gray and red armor.
“What are you doing here?” you asked, positively thrilled and unable to hide it.
“I… Well… I don’t know,” Hunter admitted with a chuckle, rubbing the back of his neck. “I haven’t been able to get you off my mind since we had to leave… So I thought it might need some medical attention.”
Now it was your turn to laugh, the sheer delight of it all cascading over you. “Oh, and a crusty alleyway seems like a very sterile environment.” He grinned, shaking his head, and you caught a glimpse of his own vulnerability, realizing that he, too, was fairly out of sorts when it came to smooth talk and flirtation. Somehow, that made you feel better, and all the regrets and “what ifs” of the last number of days began a relentless protest in your mind. “Well, let’s see what I can do,” you murmured, stepping closer to where he leaned against the wall. His eyebrows climbed up his head, giving away his utter surprise, and the sight gave you tingles.
“I… ah…” he began, but you leaned into him a little, fueled by months of daydreams and a lifetime of self-loathing for all the opportunities you were too cowardly to take hold of. Plus, his sheepishness and his admission were all you’d needed to hear, and there was an undeniable affection in his eyes that melted you to the core.
“Let’s see if we can help you out a bit?” you offered, simultaneously cringing and delighting at the complete and total ridiculousness of it all. But then he tilted his head and lifted a single, curled finger to your chin, tipping it up toward his face and sealing your fate as hopelessly enthralled. His dark eyes glittered with warmth and trepidation, and the next thing you knew, your lips were pressed against his, eyes closed, arms around his neck.
It was so soft, so absolutely mind-blowingly perfect; your entire body was electrified as his own arms wrapped around you. You felt him exhale, his nose against your cheek, and you were overwhelmed with joy at his closeness, his vulnerability, his all-consuming presence that filled your senses. His body formed around yours, his mouth still gently nestled against your own, and you melted a little further into him, wishing that it would never end.
When you finally did separate with a soft smack of the lips, you left your faces close, your eyes darting to his, which remained closed for an extra second before slowly opening with a relaxed warmth that had you feeling weak all over again. You couldn’t resist leaning your forehead against his own, reaching a hand up to caress his cheek for a moment before begrudgingly pulling back a bit.
“Thank you,” you whispered lamely, and he exhaled through his nose.
“Thank you,” he echoed, sheepish and disarmed.
“Please contact me anytime you need any sort of medical attention,” you continued, wrinkling your nose at just how terrible it all sounded, but he snickered, slowly releasing you with a nod.
“My job is quite harmful.”

Late Night Pastries
This wasn’t a request, but since it’s my birthday today, I thought this would be fun! I’ve been working on a few requests, but have been mostly working on a long OC fic that’s been taking up a lot of my creative energy and time. I will work on requests when I have time! Promise!

-----------------------
It was late aboard the Resolute and it was quiet in the medbay where you were currently organizing the new supplies that had just arrived.
The medbay was mostly empty of troopers and those that were there were sleeping soundly in the back of the large room. So you took the peace and quiet for what it was and enjoyed the time to yourself. You listened to the soft sounds of the machines and the hum of the ship beneath your feet as you counted out the supplies and marked it on the datapad beside you.
You were halfway through the crate of bandages when the door to the medbay opened. You turned in time to see Echo walk in, his hands clasped behind his back. It was a surprise to see him, especially this late, but he was your closest friend. It had been an easy transition for the two of you to go from acquaintances to best friends, in fact, it was the easiest thing in the world.
Echo was everything to you. And you were pretty sure he felt the same way about you.
A smile spread across your face as he approached. “Hey, what are you doing here?”
Echo shrugged. “I figured I’d find you here. Are you ever going to say no to a nightshift?”
You chuckled lightly. “They aren’t my favorite, but I’m not going to turn someone down if they ask to switch shifts. Anything I can help you with? You don’t look injured.”
“Oh no, I’m fine.” Echo said. “But I do have a reason for stopping by. Do you know what time it is?”
Your eyes narrowed as you turned and looked at the chronometer on the wall. “Uhh, it’s just after one. Why? Have I missed something?”
Echo looked smug as he smiled softly before shifting his hands from behind it back to reveal a small pastry with a single candle on top.
“Echo, what is this?”
He chuckled. “Only you would be so focused that you forget your own birthday.”
Realization dawned on you as you let out a sigh that turned into a laugh. “Only you would remember my birthday when I totally forgot. Thank you.”
He shook his head before pulling out a small lighter and lighting the candle. “Just blow out the candle and make a wish.”
You gave him another look before closing your eyes, a wish finding its way into your mind before you released it to the galaxy, hoping that maybe it’ll come true. Your eyes opened and you leaned forward, quickly blowing out the candle.
Echo smiled at you and you felt your stomach twist as your face warmed, averting your eyes. “Here, let me clear this space and we can share that.”
“I got this for you. You don’t have to share it.” Echo protested and you gave him a shove as you quickly cleared off the small table in the medbay.
“I know. Which means I can share it with whoever I want.”
Echo let out a sigh, but didn’t protest further as he set the small pastry on the table. He pulled out the candle as you found two small forks that were wrapped in plastic from you and your fellow medic’s trip to the mess hall. You pulled out a chair, taking a seat as Echo did the same, setting down his helmet. You passed him a fork and he took it with a smile.
You placed a hand on his arm, giving it a squeeze. “Thank you Echo.”
He rested his hand on yours. “Happy Birthday, cyare.”
There were the warm fuzzies again. You gave him another smile before raising your fork in the air. Echo smiled back as he clinked his fork against yours.
The medbay was quiet around you, save for your quiet conversation with your heads ducked together. The pastry was delicious and Echo refused to give up how he’d managed to find it. But wherever it was, it was amazing and despite the late hour, it was probably the best birthday you’d ever had.

"WHAT ARE YOU HIDING FROM ME?" PROMPTS *  assorted dialogue for defense and accusation, adjust as necessary
you've been lying to me this whole time.
i don't believe a word you've said.
you need to come clean about what happened.
i've given you plenty of opportunities to tell the truth.
i need to know what really happened before i lose my mind.
why won't you just talk to me?
you're hiding something. i don't know what it is, but i'm going to find out.
this is how i find out you've lied the whole time?
i'm not supposed to give you any details.
could you just tell me what really happened?
i hate not knowing the truth.
you've been elusive this whole time.
there's more to the story, but you're not supposed to hear it.
you never answered any of my questions.
i can tell when you're lying to me.
you're really bad at lying.
that wasn't an answer.
i never planned on telling you the truth.
that was a lie, and you know it.
what ever happened to "i promise i won't lie to you?"
i thought we agreed to tell each other the truth.
they told me the truth. you can stop lying now.
you just lied straight to my face.
tell me what you know, or else.
why do you insist on keeping things from me?
i think i've earned the right to learn the truth.
some things are just better left unsaid.
i can't tell you what really happened.
this is for your own good.
it's better that you don't know the truth.
some things need to be kept from you.
you aren't capable of carrying the weight of all this.
trust me. you don't want to know.
[name], what did you do?
i'll go to [name]. they'll tell me the truth.
i meant to tell you the truth before this happened.
you should have heard the full story from me.
i never should have lied like this.
this was always meant to be a secret.
it doesn't concern you. that's why i didn't tell you.
i'm not answering the question!
if you don't tell me the truth, i'm leaving.
i'll never trust you again.
so this whole thing was a lie from the start?
when did you become a politician? why aren't you answering my question?
i would have believed you had you just came clean.
there shouldn't be any secrets between us.
i'm just going to assume the worst if you don't tell me what's going on.
