This was a quick piece I had sketched out when trying to figure out an outfit for my druid with a noble background. I saw the idea once to make a druid character that had the overall theme of "Princess Mononoke" in mind and trying to balance both the human and natural world. So this was that character for me!

'I am still your Zelda' - Sam McHale - 2023 - Digital (Procreate)

This is a piece that I worked on last year (while waiting for Tears of the Kingdom of course), I was still pretty new to digital art at the time so the rendering isn't the best and something I continue to practice.

But I always loved how story driven and powerful Skyward Sword was and that might still be my favorite iteration of Zelda in the series. I still get a little teary eyed when Zelda tells Link, "While it's true that I am Hylia reborn, I'm still my father's daughter and your friend... I am still your Zelda." Ugh. My heart lol

Midna Rejoice - Sam McHale - 2024 - Digital (Procreate)

I've always been a lifelong Zelda fan - but when I tell you the CHOKEHOLD that Twilight Princess had on me as a kid... (and still does now lol) especially Midna. I still remember the first time you see her true form after everything you go through with her at the end of the game. My jaw was on the floor. Still one of my all time favorite games AND favorite companions!

This is Nayru - my half elf sorcerer Tav in BG3. She has a frenemies to lovers thing going on with Gale. Which really it's just her picking on him for having to read & study to do magic and them bickering back and forth. (At least that's my head canon anyway lol) I absolutely loved recreating her though. I loved this character so much that I'm now using her in my friend's dnd campaign! Anyone else not ready to let their Tav go? haha

After working on this for the last couple of weeks, I've finally finished my homage to 'the Legend of Zelda: the Wind Waker' - one of my favorite games from my childhood! This piece was a lot of fun to make and got me thinking about other famous videogame characters that could be done in Alphonse Mucha's style too! So maybe more to come soon?
