My ancestors, watching me dump an entire stick of cinnamon, two cloves, an allspice berry, and a generous grating of nutmeg into my tea, sweetened with white sugar and loaded with cream, while I sit in my clean warm house surrounded by books, 25+ outfits for different occasions, and 6 pairs of shoes, in a building heated so well I have the windows open in mid-autumn:

Our daughter prospers. We are proud of her. She has never labored in a field but knows riches we could not have imagined.

#there are so many things my ancestors made it through i can’t even begin to describe all the reasons i would make them proud #for one i’m not anyone’s property. good start. #also live in a house we OWN with cars we OWN #no one is spitting and screaming at me for going to school #we eat food we once would only get the scraps of #swim in pools without being heckled (or dumped acid on!!) #long story short we got mastah money now bitch #thank u ancestors for persevering you guys were absolutely bad bitches

What part of 'the wellbeing of workers has an impact on the work they do' is hard for some people to understand? Like even if you don't have a single fraction of common decency or care for other peoples' welfare, and don't care whether they live or die, you should still care whether you live or die. You don't have to be morally against human suffering in order to believe in workers' rights.

An overworked truck driver falls asleep on the wheel and swerves on you in traffic? You're gonna die. An overworked nurse doing a 24 hour shift gets two patients confused? You're gonna die. A bridge collapses under you because the building materials provided were dogshit, and none of the builders wanted to speak out because the one to voice a complaint is going to get fired, and they all have kids to feed? You're going to die.

You literally do not have to care about other people. Nobody is demanding you to give a shit whether anybody else lives or dies. You just have to aknowledge that if the people touching your food, building the roads you drive on and buildings you go into, and altogether work in putting together every single thing that you need in order to live, are dying on the job, that's gonna hurt you too.

Being served like a God and fed with human sacrifice does not make you immortal like one.

I think every piece of beautiful art in history has been created by flawed people. I don't think there's any other kind of people.

If you enjoyed and appreciated a piece of art, if it helped and changed you, then you don't have to give that up because the people who made it were flawed.

I met a homeless man yesterday in Manchester, he was cuddled up to his dog and he'd put his coat and scarf and blanket on his lovely dog to keep him warm. I gave the man some money and I said hello to his dog and I asked "whats your name?" and he automatically told me his dogs name and then I said "no no, what's your name" and it made me sad to see how surprised he was that someone was asking for his name instead of his dogs name. he looked genuinely shocked that someone wanted to know about him. idk something about the dehumanisation of homeless people. his name was Jay btw
