It's 1941 and the Dandelions have just been relocated from Daybreak Town (an experimental orphanage turned cult). They not only need to adjust to the modern society but are also determined to find each other again.

This blog mostly serious and the way I've decided to try and tell the story of this AU (since its a bit more slice of life-y). With that said though, feel free send silly and random asks (as long as it is for one of the characters), I think they can help flesh out the AU a bit.

(Please keep in mind I do have the right to not answer a question if I don't want to. I'll do my best to answer everything but there will be exceptions)

What are all of your opinions on darkness? I heard a little rumor that Scala Ad Caelum used to be a world of light and darkness, dreams and distortions, or something like that. So I was wondering how that compares to today.

Class Notes (by Baldr)

Today we talked about how darkness has affected the world. About how the plague of darkness devastated it. Everyone's words had genuine hatred in them, except Xehanort's, who was more skeptical of the claim that even though darkness is a part of the world it shouldn't exist. Makes sense. He wasn't raised here, where it all started.

This place has always favored light. Since the days of Daybreak Town, the philosophy has been to banish darkness wherever it appeared. That's our duty as Keyblade wielders.

After class, Bragi asked everyone what they thought about darkness. Eraqus spoke up first, of course. Said he'd never be able to live with himself if he allowed darkness to exist once he became a Master. He's always been like that. At least Bragi wasn't as aggressive, but he had basically the same sentiments.

Vor, being the kid she is, went along with everyone else, though I could tell she was a bit hesitant. Urd didn't really have anything to say. Hermod said he'd be receptive to a balance between light and darkness if the darkness wasn't so evil all the time.

Which left me and Xehanort.

Our newest classmate said he'd rather do more research into the topic before answering, so my turn to talk came. I couldn't think of a good answer. Hopefully next time the topic comes up I will.

I've been spending time tending to the carrier pigeons Scala uses to deliver long-distance messages. I've also taken on some mail delivery jobs for a little extra extra spending munny.

Xehanort sat in the window nook, leaning against the partial wall surrounding the glass. The curtain tickled his shoulder as the slight breeze ruffled it. In front of him lay that same old game board, black and white checkered spaces crisscrossing almost mesmerizingly, pieces strewn about in a methodical placement of his design to contest with his friend’s. His play had barely gotten him out of check; Eraqus is serious today, he mused.

His friend sat across from him on the other side of the board, one of his legs dangling while the other was bent in a half crisscross. Xehanort moved himself into a similar but mirrored position, with his left mimicking Eraqus’s right. He became conscious of his left hand’s movements, fingers curling and uncurling slightly in thought.

Eraqus’s next play put him back in check. Xehanort calmly slid out of it. The pieces’ movements and position relative to each other hardly kept his attention nowadays.

Instead, there was a question on his mind. Their most recent class had an air of urgency to it, like the subject matter was of the utmost importance. Therefore, the tabletop discussion among the rest of the class consisted mostly of the lesson. But another matter pressed on Xehanort’s mind, one he wished to discuss with Eraqus alone.

Now he finally had the chance.

“Have you heard of the ancient Keyblade War?”

Xeha, how are you holding up with the cold weather? Has it snowed yet?

My expectations about the weather in Scala were... preconceived. Even though this is an island, the northerly winds blow strongly, creating a chill which brings fog and a strong craving for warm drinks, among other things. Having spent most of my life in a more tropical environment means my cold tolerance is quite low, not to mention my typical clothing often lacks sleeves.

Because of this, I've had to buy new outerwear to help mitigate this. Eraqus seemed quite excited at the prospect of a shopping trip and offered to come with me. Not only that, he said he'd pay for everything I selected as a sort of "anniversary gift" for my being found on the second of this month. As such, I now have a varied selection of comfortable jackets and coats.

I would be remiss to ignore the curiosity I feel as to what other worlds' climates are like, since the difference between here and the Destiny Islands are somewhat extreme, especially to me. How would I be able to handle a world covered in snow, for example? Eraqus says my face gets red when I'm cold. The embarrassment from that alone would make cooler climates unbearable for me, especially if he were with me!
