↜Cerridwen’s Backstory↝

She has two children; a beautiful girl named Creirwy, who is said to be fair and light, and a son named Morfran, who is dark, ugly and malevolent. In an attempt to help give her son an advantage, Cerridwen comes up with a potion of wisdom and knowledge. 

The potion is said to take 1 year and 1 day to complete. Cerridwen has a servant boy named Gwion who helps her make the potion. At each precise astrological times during the year Cerridwen adds different herbs to the cauldron. On the final day of the potion when Cerridwen was away, Gwion the servant boy was stirring the potion when 3 drops spill on his thumb, burning him. Out of instinct Gwion sucks the drops up and absorbs the power of the potion. Now having the wisdom and knowledge of the potion, Gwion runs away before Cerridwen comes back. 

A great chase takes place with each of them shape-shifting into various forms. 

A hound following a rabbit. 

An otter chasing a salmon. 

A hawk flying after a sparrow. 

Until finally Gwion transforms into a kernel of wheat, and Cerridwen changes into a black hen who devours him. With the seed of Gwion inside of Cerridwen, it soon grows and is transformed. Nine months later the seed of wheat is reborn as Taliesin who then became the greatest poet of his time.

10 Different Crystal Shapes and How To Use Them

TUMBLED

Crystals that have been smoothed or polished from their raw form are usually classified as tumbled stones. They have not been carved into any specific form, but are not jagged to the touch. These crystals are usually more affordable and are good for basic crystal use, including grids, meditation, affirmations, altar work, feng shui or more.

ABUNDANCE

Crystals in an Abundance formation are made up of an elongated quartz crystal with smaller crystals clustered around its base. This is a great stone to attract abundance to your life (hence its name) and is great for acting as a conduit to your wealth and business stones.

NATURAL POINT

Natural points are not necessarily long crystals in a wand-like formation. They are any part of a faceted crystal with a point that has formed naturally, and has not been carved to perfection. These types of stones must be used with caution as the point draws energy to the body (when pointed toward a person) or it draws energy away from the body (when pointed away from the body). These properties make it a great tool for cleansing and healing work.

PHANTOM

The Phantom formation is slightly difficult to find. These crystals have a hazy image within them, although most of the crystal is particularly transclucent. This phantom of ghost within the crystal is said to carry a vast array of information for the past, making it a powerful tool for past-like work and healing. Depending on the crystal that the phantom is found within, additional properties will apply. However, any Phantom formation will be a powerful stone to shake out your skeletons and pave a healthy path for growth.

GENERATOR

A Generator will have six facets (of equal or unequal proportions) that meet into one point. It gets its name for its ability to generate amplified energy, boosting the power of other stones, or the stone it is made of. This type of formation is also very powerful for charging other stones.

GEODE

These stones are elusive because they appear ordinary from the outside. However, when they are opened or broken they reveal a hollow cave with crystals sparkling within. Because of their contained form, geodes have the ability to hold energy within and soften it, allowing it to naturally flow out and disperse evenly. These formations are great for protection or for assisting with healing abusive habits such as alcoholism, drug abuse, sex addiction, shopping addiction, and abusive internal monologues.

RAW

Raw stones are in their natural form and have not been smoothed, polished or altered. Though they are more fragile and can break more easily than other formations, many prefer the look of these stones as they would appear raw in their natural habitat. Like tumbled stones, raw stones are great for all spiritual work and are often quite affordable.

PYRAMID

Pyramids are stones that have been shaped into a point with four equal faceted sides and a square base. These formations are great for warding off negative vibrations or removing blocks within the chakra system. This shape is also a great choice to use in affirmation and manifestation work. The properties of the crystal are amplified in this formation. It is a good choice for healers.

SPHERE

The circle emits energy evenly from all angles, and the Sphere formation is no different. These are powerful formations and are often used in scrying as a tool to peer into the past and future. Because the shape is even from every possible angle, it is believed that light, energy and time pass through it with no rules or hindrances, hence their scrying abilities. They often have flaws or occlusions within them which help with the scrying process, though they can be quite expensive depending on their size.

SQUARE

This formation works well with grounding energies and intentions since its energy is contained and enhanced evenly within the stone. It acts as a foundation to meditation practices and has the ability to transmute negative energy into positive energy. They’re stacking ability makes them great tools for mindfulness and concentration, especially if you’re doing detailed work.

You can just start being a witch at any age. You don’t have to have been born a witch . You don’t have to find evidence you were a witch as child. You don’t have to find out if you are a “natural witch”. You don’t have to prove you have special talents or powers. You don’t have to have a family history of witchcraft

You can simply decide at any point in life, hey, I’m going to be a witch, then start doing witchy things. Now you’re a witch.

Goddess ☽Cerridwen☾

Cerridwen is the first goddess that I was called to when I began my practice. For now I am only worshiping her as I want to have a pretty firm foundation before considering doing any type of deity work. I was particularly drawn to worshiping Cerridwen because of her Celtic background. My family is primarily from Denmark and so far the closest deity I’ve found that resonates with me is Cerridwen. I connect heavily with the idea of creation and knowledge. Here’s a bit of an overview of Cerridwen and I’ll go into her background in another post.

Cerridwen’s name is derived from the Celtic word “cerru” meaning cauldron. Like the goddess herself, the cauldron symbolizes the transformative power of magic, wisdom, rebirth, and creative inspiration. 

For these reasons Cerridwen is seen as a patron goddess of witches and wizards. She is associated with the moon, fertility, science, prophecy and poetry. 

Cerridwen is a powerful Welsh sorceress, and one of the most powerful witches in Celtic mythology. Cerridwen is a white witch, meaning that she uses her gifts and her cauldron to help others. When her ploys backfire, she can let her anger get away from her, but ultimately finds herself before she does anything drastic.

Pink Super Moon 04/25/21 ◯

The pink super moon was my first full moon that I celebrated as newly christened practitioner. It was actually overcast where I lived so I wasn’t able to see it fully but I did sit outside under the *brief* moonlight that trickled through the clouds. Here are the notes that I scribbled down that night.

This is a full moon that has the potential to support your desires for gaining clarity, renewal, and reinvention. This energy is about getting in foundational elements. It is a time for rejuvenation.

☽The Introduction of the Self☾

Hi there witchy friends! I thought it would be good to introduce myself! My name is Sarah Natalie. I am new to witchcraft and paganism but wanted to branch out of my comfort zone a bit by joining Tumblr and creating my very own book of shadows while also researching and connecting with others of similar vibes! 

To start I was born on 10/13/1997 at 11:23 AM. I am a libra sun ☼ a sagittarius rising ↟ and am a pisces moon ☾. I was born and raised in Glendale, Arizona where the sun always shined. While I do enjoy a nice full moon and starry sky, there is just something about sitting in the sun, letting the rays warm you from within. That’s partially where my username comes in. 

I currently live in Idaho and I work full time in a bakery. I met my partner in a high school creative writing class and we’ve been together ever since! Six years later we bought our first house together and we have had 3 fish and now a dog along the way. 

I’m excited to see where I go and grow from here. Thanks for coming along for the journey!

✴Oracle reading✴ 05/19

I am using The Faery Forest An Oracle of the Wild Green World by Lucy Cavendish. I've had it for just over a month now and I have been loving the artwork and the guidebook is very easy to navigate and goes into great detail about what the cards mean.

So today I am using the cards as a way to center myself and see if any of my guides (particularly Cerridwen) have any messages for me since it has been a while since I've spoken to them.

The cards I pulled were:

Isa (Reversed)- Stillness, pause, delicacy.

This one does kind of hit the nail on the head for me. The past few weeks with mothers day, my partners surgery, and just general work and house upkeep was a bit too much for my frazzled mind and spirit. I find that when I don't allow myself time to just be I get extremely overwhelmed and tend to withdraw from every aspect of my life. My favorite part of the guidebook explanation is "Like the chrysalis, you will "do" nothing - nothing at all, except become yourself."

Soul Kin- Recognition, family, kinship.

This is the first time I've pulled this card. The artwork is stunning it shows that of a baby, aging into a woman, and the woman into an elder. It plays on the idea of the triple goddess which I like a lot. This card didn't really hit me anywhere too specific. Maybe later on I'll think back to it and understand why it was pulled when it was. My favorite part of the guidebook explanation is "With great love comes the possibility for pain, and each of us must come to some kind of peace with the truth that there are relationships that will not be sustained for this lifetime."

Atheling- Nobility, grace, gratitude.

I've actually pulled Atheling before, last time it was reversed so at least this time it feels less like a call out and more like a recognition of my attempted progress. The artwork of this card always feels so absolutely calming. She truly is grace. This card to me means that I need to continue working on slowing myself down and focusing on one task at a time. Often my mind tries to hurry through projects because there's more where that came from but pulling this card is the reminder to allow myself time to focus and give gratitude for the work I'm able to do to help myself and to help others. My favorite part of the guidebook explanation is "For this moment, breathe and still yourself, and then carefully move forward, focusing on one thing at a time, giving each task your absolute attention."
