An excerpt from my upcoming manuscript and addition to the Coagula series
” There is an old ritual for producing a talisman for protection against a wide variety of ailments translated in the book “Chaldean Magic”. The lengthy passages are meant to be spoken over a black band (or white, if you are binding the cloth to your right hand) tied twice around the wrist.
When reading the passages, it becomes obvious that some of the workings of the ritual are outdated, protecting against things like slaves who try to escape their masters or women who have a will of their own.
I have re-written the rites, for their use and power it is unwise to throw the entire idea away, in a way that addresses the concerns of more just and upstanding individuals.
“The wicked god, the wicked demon, the demon of the desert, the demon of the mountain, the demon of the sea, the demon of the city, the demon of the marsh, evil genius, the enormous Mammon, the bad wind by itself, the wicked demon wich seizes the body, which disturbs the body, the evil demon which enslaves, the demon which belittles the value of the soul...
Spirit of the heavens, conjure it! Spirit of the earth, conjure it!
The demon who seizes the person, the trickster who works evil, the production of a wicked demon, the  production of sickness in the mind, the liar who leads people to be stupid, the liar who makes fools, the liar who besmirches good standing, the liar who turns people against one another, the liar who turns people against themselves...
Spirit of the heavens, conjure it! Spirit of the earth, conjure it!
Those who would harm a woman for being a woman or a man for being a man, those who would harm others for their nature or circumstance of birth, those who would harm others for their appearance or personality, those who would take sexual advantage of others, who rape and coerce, the pimp who enslaves, who harms and uses bodies that are not theirs, those who would harm children, those who would teach children so they harm themselves, who willingly do not protect their child from harm, who bully the weak and vulnerable...
Spirit of the heavens, conjure it! Spirit of the earth, conjure it!
That which does not go away, that which is not propitious, that which grows up, ulcers of a bad kind, poignant ulcers, infected ulcers, enlarged ulcers, excoriated ulcers, ulcers which spread, malignant ulcers, cysts and pustulations...
Spirit of the heavens, conjure it! Spirit of the earth, conjure it!
Disease of the bowels, disease of the heart, the palpitation of the diseased heart, disease of the stomach, disease of the vision, disease of the bones, disease of the head, disease of the mind, disease which takes a child from their mother, malignant dysentery, disease of the skin, the tumor which swells, disease of the lungs, kidneys or blood, ulceration of the reins, the micturation which wastes, cancerous disease, cruel agony which never ceases, nightmare and imaginary horrors, disease which causes fear and panic, disease which causes violence and rage, disease which renders one unabled, disease which takes the flesh from the body, disease which causes mysterious pain...
Spirit of the heavens, conjure it! Spirit of the earth, conjure it!
He who forges images, he who bewitches the malevolent aspect, the evil eye, the malevolent mouth, the malevolent tongue, the malevolent lip, unjust curses, tricks that preserve injustice, the cruelest sorcery...
Spirit of the heavens, conjure it! Spirit of the earth, conjure it!
Illness of reproduction, illness which harms the unborn child, illness which takes the mother in birth, illness which causes a child to starve and wither, illnesses of the milk and breast, illness which prevents a child from growth, illness which torments the mother and the child...
Spirit of the heavens, conjure it! Spirit of the earth, conjure it!
Painful fever, violent fever, the fever which never leaves, unremitting fever, the lingering fever, malignant fever, deadly fever, fever which causes ulcerations and splitting of the skin, fever which damages the body, fever which spreads, infectious fever, fever which fills the lungs...
Spirit of the heavens, conjure it! Spirit of the earth, conjure it!
Painful plague, violent plague, plague which never leaves man, deadly plague, unremitting plague, the lingering plague, malignant plague...
Spirit of the heavens, conjure it! Spirit of the earth, conjure it!
Painful disease of the bowels, the infirmity which makes gloomy and cuts, the never-ceasing infirmity, the deadly infirmity, the infirmity of the veins, the infirmity which does not go away, the malignant infirmity...
Spirit of the heavens, conjure it! Spirit of the earth, conjure it!
That foulness which acts in the mouth, the poison noxious to the voice, the expectoration of the consumption which noxiously prostrates, scrofula, pustules, the falling off of the nails, purulent eruptions, inveterate tetters, shingles causing pits and scars, leprosy covering the skin, polluted foods, food which reduces the body of the person to a skeleton, food which eaten is returned again, food which makes one ill, liquids which make the drinker swell, fatal poison, harmful posions, pestilential winds, gaseous poisons and polluted winds, polluted earth, polluted rain and water...
Spirit of the heavens, conjure it! Spirit of the earth, conjure it!
The frost which makes the earth to shiver, the excess of heat which makes the person ill, evil destiny which unexpectedly cuts off one’s career, famine of all kinds, parching thirst which aids sickness, the bloating of the body, the withering of the body, weakness of the body and the mind...
Spirit of the heavens, conjure it! Spirit of the earth, conjure it!
Unwanton death by hunger, unwanton death by thirst, they who being hungry are reduced to eat foulness, they who accidentally perish and die, they who leave no memory of their name, they who in their hunger cannot recover, they who suffer without necessity in their own ignorance, they who suffer in other’s ignorance, they who suffer in cruelty, they who suffer at the hands of violence, they who suffer under unjust law...
Spirit of the heavens, conjure it! Spirit of the earth, conjure it!
The protecting god of man who guarantees prolongation of man’s life, may he fortify him to the sight of the sun! The genius, the favorable giant, may he penetrate into my head for the prolongation of my life! He will never depart from me!
Spirit of the heavens, conjure it! Spirit of the earth, conjure it!
Two double bands of black cloth, I bind on the left hand, the bad demon, the wicked Mammon, the wicked slaver, the bad sun, the wicked god, the black snake, the phantom, the spectre, the vampire, incubus,  succubus, nightmare, wicked sorcery, the philter, all poison, that which gives pain, that which hurts, that which is evil, god’s head upon their head, god’s foot upon their foot. They never seize me, they will never return.
Spirit of the heavens, conjure it! Spirit of the earth, conjure it!
May the wicked demon depart! May they seize one another! The propitious demon, the propitious giant, may they be directed by god! May all the foulness I have named be taken away now and for eternity!
Spirit of the heavens, conjure it! Spirit of the earth, conjure it!
The cruelest child of heaven the gods have ever known, the evilest of the lords, the demons which produce pain and suffering, the creatures which attack humanity, the foulest force upon the world, may they never seize me!
Spirit of the heavens, conjure!
Spirit of the earth, conjure!
This is now as I have made it!
As I have spoken, it is so!”
The black band spoken of in the passages is then tied to the person’s left wrist, and worn there as the protective talisman.
It is extremely important that you do not stop once you have started. The formation of the talisman must be completed once you have begun. The way this works is by calling up all of the things you would not want and then binding them from acting against you. If you stop before the binding at the end is complete, you have called up awful things to act freely in your presence.”

Dita
Tumblr media
D : river
I : power
T : water
A : snake
Dita can most easily be translated as “tea”, since it usually consists of various plant material brewed in water. “Ita” literally translates to “poison” or “medicine”. The difference between dita and ita is that dita is meant for drinking casually, when ita is more likely to be potent medicine or something not meant for consumption. Incense may be considered ita, if it is being used medicinally. Dita is also a kind of spirit medicine, since you imbue the brew with spiritual essence. But, it is much more of a gentle spirit-food than dramatic “ita” like tinctures or pills.
The letters above are displayed next to their symbolic associations in the vatrakeh language to aid the reader in understanding the origins of the word.

Racoon Shiva riding Brave Turtle. Brave Turtle feels fear, but does it anyway. Life can be scary and overwhelming for the simple heart of a turtle, just as it is scary and overwhelming for many of us. If turtles can be brave, so can we. Be like Brave Turtle and embrace your fears. Slow and steady, you will overcome.

Hi everyone! The Lotus Collective is hosting its first fundraiser to organize poverty relief efforts across the nation. Presently, members are doing research in their local communities to see what supplies are needed most and where/how is most effective to distribute. With enough funding raised, we can provide effective relief to the needy. If you want to help, here is a link to our fundraising campaign. Any donations are greatly appreciated, and go directly to the purchase and transport of goods distributed to people in need.
