Minneapolis, we're open. Just about in the same place we were yesterday, on the gorgeous, sparkling Mississippi River waterfront. We're a few hundred feet from St. Anthony Main Theatre and Wilde Cafe & Spirits. We've done quite a bit of restocking as well! These and over 100 other new titles are waiting for your greedy lil paws in the big black bus. Come on down. Tomorrow we'll be open from noon til late outside of Nostalgia Zone Comic Books at 3535 E Lake St

Customers have added some lovely little adornments to the Trumpdoll (from HausWitch in Salem MA). A young man of probably 8 or 9 named Rory just came in with his mother looking for Harry Potter and Percy Jackson, but when he saw Trump, he decided to add his own curse. He wanted to use just one word, "die", which his mother wasn't too happy about, so I suggested "falter", which he not only knew the definition of but also spelled perfectly. Apparently, in his school, people use "Trump" as an insult for anyone who's blonde haired & blue eyed. This kid, however, had integrity and a brain, something our current president knows nothing about. Congrats on raising him right, mom.

It's no mystery where our political affiliations lie, but in the current climate, it is more important than ever to hold the perpetuation of your ideals and beliefs within constant and accessible reach. Our country might be a mess, but in the chaos, in the whirlwind of soundbytes and misinformation, you can always find pockets of people doing the right thing. Never stop checking yourself and your surroundings. Don't let the microaggressions of would-be jokes turn into creeping blanket acceptance, things that we take for granted choking out and suffocating the power that has been granted to us to fight off all gross and everpresent forms of hatred growing and finding more solid footholds in this world. Raise your fist, whether in solidarity or in following through with a swift clock to the jaw of your least favorite fascist bigot brand of choice.

We've been approved to be vendors at Wasteland Weekend, a 5 day Mad Max style post apocalyptic fest in the middle of the California desert. We'll be located in Bartertown, and are beyond both Thunderdome AND excited to be the last bookstore on earth, bringing knowledge to the wastes.

Alright Portland, we know we've said this before, but this is officially our last day in town before we head west. We're sorry for telling you such sweet lies, but you've just been so good to us. We've been all over the US, and we've said it many times, but Portland has been, by far, our favorite spot. The community, the people, the local stores, that good ol' New England salt--both of people and air--are all things we've fallen pretty hard for. We may or may not have been looking at leases and commercial spots around town... anyway, in the meantime, we have some traveling to do and places to provide tiny paper tomes with; we'll be back, but don't miss the last chance to hang in the big black bus! In honor of our last day, we'll be opening early. Catch us from 4 PM til 1 AM outside of LFK. We've done a ton of restocking and have been making some sexy new signs for our various genre sections. Don't forget to bring in a unique oddity for a sliding scale discount on your purchase. PS. An extra special thank you to our wonderful hosts and new friends at LFK, The Green Hand, Strange Maine, Arabica Coffee, Joe's, Pai Men Miyake, Coast City Comics, and Hallowed Ground Bodyart Studio

Bangor, it's been fun, but it's time for this Virus to head south once again. We'll be stopping by Stephen King's house on our way out (cause it would be criminal if we didn't) and we've decided, to no one's shock, to spend a couple more nights in Portland before we head west. We'll see you at LFK tonight!

A casual reminder that we kidnapped a nice young man from Portland and are forcing him to churn out content, and it's wonderful!

The Road Virus has headed North... to Stephen King's horror hometown of Bangor, Maine! We landed late yesterday, and after a night of hospitable treats and a morning of welcome gifts and borderline celebrityesque treatment around town thanks to our wonderful hosts Kierie and James, we're feeling some serious smalltown vibes. We'll be opening up shop tomorrow at the Downtown Bangor Cool Sounds outdoor concert. It's free, located in Pickering Square, and features the local band Fan Jones. Come check us out from 6 - 8 PM. We've done some serious restocking over the last few days.

We had an unfortunate experience today that really upset us, and thought it was important to share. A woman came by the bus, took a few photos of the outside, and then approached us. She asked, "So you don't allow people in who have different opinions?" The short answer: no. Not if hate is the basis of your opinion and it harms those who are just living as they were born or how they decide to express themselves. She claimed that all Germans are nazis, all Muslims are terrorists who perform female genital mutilation, all while screaming that we and our sign were the true racist bigots. After we curtly informed her that her person, money, and opinions were not welcome and should go elsewhere, we discussed the incident and realized we should add a few things to our declaration. This was, while upsetting, an anomaly. Salem has been an amazing and gracious host city full of diversity, love, and support. This was also a reminder that hatred and ignorance can breed anywhere, and that it is everyone's responsibility to stamp it out wherever it grows. The Road Virus is dedicated to spreading the plague of love, acceptance, and inclusivity, along with literacy and reading. Stay viral

We did a little shopping today at HausWitch and absolutely fell in love. Highly recommended if you're in the area! Jolene is looking fantastic and cleaner with a little redecoration, mostly thanks to the lovely skull planter and semi-precious stone altar we picked up. For the rest of the night, we're extending a special offer: bring in a unique oddity and we'll take a % off your order. Animal bones, miniature guillotines, taxidermy, vintage horror/weirdo collectibles, etc. The weirder and rarer, the better your discount. We'll be open late tonight, so start digging!
