Yep. Shinjiro is taking the longest in terms of design, I don't really know where to start, for Reiko and the Nomicon I had some basic ideas for their design. Reiko was easy as she's one of the ninjas, the Nomicon I knew I wanted to keep its face hidden and still look human.

Shinjiro? I mean yes I can look through Samurai armor, which I have and come up with a design but in terms of basic concept? I do have him being a parallel to Howard in some way so that's helping too. I just need to find my concept.

Few fun Shinjiro facts while I'm working on his design. I think he'll take a while longer:

He's the son of the shogun.

He's also the general of the shogunate's army

He's the worst when trying to compliment someone. (see Li Shang complimenting Mulan)

He met Reiko when she snuck into the army. She knew one of their enemies was a stank victim. Shinjiro immediately realized Reiko was the ninja.

He's the only person who knows that Reiko is the ninja.

A very serious person but who cares deeply for others' safety.

That includes Reiko.

He's probably the only person she goes to after a specifically hard day or if she gets bad injuries after a fight.

Successfully stoped an invasion to Norrisville.

Responsabilities master

Don't mess with him, he's got a sword.

Funnily enough I like to think that this is more or less how Reiko would use her sash if she's left with no weapons (imagine that instead of drums its enemies tho). I also think she'd use it to block certain attacks.

Ah thank you! I'm glad you like it. For the hat I mentioned I took inspiration from Scaramouche (and Raiden from MK) and then found about those Japanese hats with veils and then it morphed with the idea of the scrolls like the ones Randy looks through when learning his healing power.

When I mentioned that the Nomicon kinda gets attatched to some of the ninjas I think it makes sense if two of those are First Ninja and Randy. First because he's the reason the Nomicon exists in the first place, Randy I have less obvious reasons but I think the Nomicon warms up to him over time, he does mention he's far from the worst ninja sooo I think there's that. Hence Randy and First being there.

I consider no RC9N fanart complete without a human version of the Nomicon so here's mine. The colours are a little off but unfortunately I lost the pen of my drawing tablet so I'm very limited to what I can use, I'll fix that problem once I get it back or buy one, whatever happens first.

Anyways the prompt I gave myself was: the Nomicon takes on a human form but because its interaction with humans is limited to the ninjas it has little understanding on how to human (see Nomi Randy) and also keep it mysterious.

I tried to come up with an excuse for the Nomicon to use a human form and decided that it thought it could make it more approachable and easier to understand. It's unfortunate that the Nomicon looks intimidating and terrifying but there's not much it can do about that.

Here's some headcanons I thought about while coming up with the design:

The Nomicon doesn't speak (it can but chooses not to) and uses sign language or doodles that will appear around it to speak.

The lessons will appear on the cloth accessories hanging from its hat.

Because of the little interaction it had with humans and its lack of understanding of feelings, it's understandable that the Nomicon will seem to care about duty first only and life matters later.

Even if the Nomicon doesn't seem to understand feelings, it has gotten attatched to some ninjas and does care about them... in its own way. Which is training them to be better ninjas.

Even if it's human and now can interact directly with the world, the Nomicon will not intervene in the ninjas' fights. If it does then it's because the enemy is stronger than not just the ninjas but the Nomicon itself and considers it necessary.

In terms of power, the power of the Ninja Nomicon can be equivalent to that of a deity, but it hardly ever uses 100% of its abilities.

The Nomicon is a serious being that doesn't joke around and would prefer it if the ninjas are willing to listen to it.

I will come up with more once I have a better idea for the Ninja Nomicon's story.

Tanaka Reiko 4th Ninja of Norrisville - XVIIth century

I've rediscovered RC9N and decided that it'd be fun to create a character for the series, so here is Reiko, my original character and the 4th ninja of norrisville.

Reiko, 17th Century Ninja of Norrisville, this makes her the fourth ever ninja to be chosen to fight against the forces of The Sorcerer.

No-nonesense type of woman, perfering to take ninja matters seriously but who still manages to have a sense of humor intact should the timing be the right one.

"What the ninja?", "it's ninja time!" and "what's the ninja with you?" are some of the phrases you can typically hear from her in those scarce situations.

(Duel in the Mist - Theme 1)

Reiko's friend was Shinjiro, a Samurai with a golden heart who also helped protect the city of Norrisville. He was the one Reiko sacrificed herself for.

It was one of those few times that The Sorcerer had gained enough strength to invoke an army of decent numbers to be fought against and knowing that Shinjiro alone with smaller numbers couldn't hold them back, Reiko chose to follow.

When the situation became dire, Reiko turned one last time into The Ninja and fought alongside her friend to defend Norrisville.

Reiko would never know if her sacrifice was worth it in, however, still wanting to help future ninjas, right before her death, Reiko managed to preserve her memory into the Nomicon.

Reiko met Randy after she preserved her memory into the Nomicon. There was a page dedicated to her, upon opening it, Randy freed Reiko from the nomicon.

She isn't exactly Reiko, but rather a memory preserved by her, who had enough power that she managed to get a physical body.

Reiko sees Randy as a reckless teen but with great potential and encourages him to learn from the Nomicon's lessons.

She'll often pop in if she sees Randy strugle with a particular enemy. Although she often takes enemies of her own.

Reiko finds an abandoned dojo which she manages to restore and use to teach Judo.

Thanks to @drawnfamiliarfaces I remembered that I watched the hell out of Randy Cunningham 9th Grade Ninja, thus, I have a new brainrot and I had to design my own character.

Her name is Tanaka Reiko, she's the 4th Ninja of Norrisville.

MERCS MEET SCOUT'S OLDER SISTER WHO KNOWS SPY IS HER DAD

You are Scout's older sister and they asked you to be part of the team. You have been looking for this opportunity for a long while, mostly just so you could keep an eye on Scout, knowing well his tendency of getting in troubles.

⚘ Fluff

Notes: this is purely platonic and fluffy

🪖 SOLDIER 🪖

The very first member of the team you met soon as you arrived. He was actually standing perfectly straight, waiting to greet the new you.

Soldier gives you a rundown of the team's objective and asks you for a short description of your abilities before he approves you.

At first, doesn't care that you are related to Scout. But he is notices the resemblance.

He will, however, tell you if anything regarding Scout happens during any mission. According to the man, as the older sister and Scout's family you have the priority to learn about your brother's situation in battle.

It takes some time to get along with Soldier, but once you've passed the testing period, it becomes much easier to talk to him.

Eventually, Soldier becomes interested in your relationship with the rest of your family and mainly Scout.

You do enjoy teasing your little brother and tell a few embarrassing stories of when he was younger and Soldier laughs loudly at your anecdotes. Scout is not to happy when he hears your stories and will claim they are lies or exaggerations of the real event.

If you are ever worried about Scout, Soldier will personally keep an eye on your little brother if you can't. Which you are grateful for even though Soldier might not be the best person taking care of someone. At the least, he will return with a report on Scout.

⚾️ SCOUT ⚾️

Ooh boy. At first, when he hears you are coming he thinks it's a joke. His sister? Part of the team? Yeah sure. They must be trying to get something from him by scaring him. Nope. Such is his luck.

At first he tries to hide from you. Might ignore you if you call him "bro" jokingly or "Jere." You do respect this. You give Scout time to come into terms with his older sister being there.

Once Scout has decided to talk to you, it's over. Lots of movie nights and catching up. You might not talk to others as much as Scout does, however, you do talk a lot when you two are in the same room.

Teasing and prank wars happen a lot between the two and third parties tend to be caught up in them. Once you filled the hall leading to the door of his room with cups filled with water. In return, Scout wrapped your entire room in bubble wrap.

However, you can be the more serious one when needed.

If Scout feels upset or like he's not big help to the team, you'll be there to offer comfort. He knows this and he always comes to you. He might deny these softer moments between the two of you to the rest of the team, but you know well if he needs to step aside and take a break. Offer him a snack, a hug, a word of comfort, to watch a baseball match and he'll be feeling better. If you give him his favourite snack or do something special the next day, Scout will be forever grateful. He will never say it, but he did miss having family around in cases like this.

You have to play along with Tom Jones being his dad. He will tell you memories he thinks are true but that really aren't and you will agree with him or claim you don't remember. Scout often gets frustrated by your "lack of memory."

If anything happens to Scout: "my name is [y/n], you hurt my brother, prepare to die." It's exactly the same the other way around. This makes the two of you actually quite dangerous when going against Blu.

💥 DEMOMAN 💥

Demoman is surprised to hear that Scout has an older sister. You will receive a lot of questions and he might invite you for a drink to talk about stuff, he is rather curious about you.

Demoman is interesting to talk with. He has an incredible amount of stories to tell you and you happily listen to them. You two share stories from his life and yours as well as anecdotes of being an older sister to Scout.

You are drinking buddies and even if you don't drink, he doesn't mind that you take something else even if it doesn't have alcohol. You two can also stay at HQ if bars are not your go-to place. He is definitely pleasant to be around regardless and offers a nice break from work.

He is actually a good man to go to for comfort or if you feel overwhelmed. He will pat your back and you two might sit somewhere else and just talk.

🥪 HEAVY 🥪

When you meet him, you are intimidated due to the size of this man, but as he hears you are Scout's older sister and he laughs and offers you a friendly handshake, your nervousness around him quickly melts away.

You are excited to learn he has younger siblings too and the two of you quickly bond over that.

He gives you tips and vice-versa, you will tell each other anecdotes and might even learn recipes from each other for your siblings. The more you learn about his sisters the more you want to meet them and Heavy can't wait to introduce you to them. He claims that all of you will get along well.

It's surprise to no one that you and Heavy have a familial bond of sorts very quickly and he also becomes protective of you, which you don't mind. It's nice having someone to look over you for once.

If you are sick or had a fight with Scout and feel sown, expect Heavy to be around to help. He will show his more gentle giant side and will give you great advice.

You are happy to have someone like him around. It is indeed nice to be taken care of instead

🔧 ENGIE 🔧

Thrilled to meet you. You are also quite happy to meet him. You've heard of Dell as the one to take care of others when they are tired.

You are the calm duo. You really enjoy being around him as he tends to bring peace and quiet wherever he goes a d when you hear him play his guitar for the first time, you're even happier. You actually ask him to teach you.

Campfire buddies. He likes to tell stories of everyone in the team and give you tips on how to survive them.

Also training buddies. You are fast like Scout, while he learned to get away of his siblings, you learned to keep an eye on everyone. Mainly Scout. So Engineer has built a few things that help you train your abilities which you are always happy to.

You might chill with Engie often if you need a break or even if you need someone to vent to. He will have a drink ready and a melody on his guitar. He doesn't solve practical problems only.

If you like tinkering with stuff a d are curious, Engie will even let you chill at his workshop where you can occupy yourself with breaking down stuff to learn how they were made before you rebuild them.

🚑 MEDIC 🚑

While you eventually calmed down with Heavy it takes way longer with Medic. This man intimidates you to no end and you find yourself avoiding him like the plague.

Medic catches a new fascination with you as Scout's older sister and constantly ask you to let him run a few tests and experiments on you. Pretty please. Scout has to pull you from medbay even after you told Medic you are completely fine with keeping all the bones of your body over over.

It's thanks to Heavy that you get to slowly get used to Medic. He begins to come along with you whenever you are near the mad doctor. You are glad that Heavy tends to be there anyways.

Medic eventually loses interest, though it takes a while for that to happen. He does become newly curious when he learns that you are quite the smart person when overhearing conversations you have with Engie and will start talking to you about your interests and your knowledge.

The man is very happy to ask anything that you know about and will gladly give you little "fun facts" which you retain and tend to share with others. That is how you actually start to bond.

You have nice little conversations and his doves start to take a liking to you, especially Archimedes, who will always fly to you whenever you come to Medic after an injury or just to talk. Medic begins looking forward to these moments.

He learns about you and Scout and the many injuries you recieved through your life. Scars you got from pretty bad incidents or prank wars gone wrong. Medic is surprised at your resilience but he would like it if you stopped trying to receive bullets to protect your brother.

Although you calm down, you never feel fully safe around this man, but you have quite the odd bond.

🔥 PYRO 🔥

You hardly understand anything Pyro say due to their mask muffling everything. However, you are quick to learn how to understand them with the help of Engineer and are actually the only one who isn't as intimidated. Granted they still scare you.

Pyro's childishness and your role as an older sister mean that you two quickly form a sibling bond and people usually go to you when they want to ask something to Pyro.

Scout will say it's silly, but he does become jealous whenever he sees how happy you are around Pyro and if he wasn't scared of them he would love to interrupt the moment and ask you to play baseball with him.

You end up learning to carry crayons and plushies with you to give Pyro and because of that you become their new favourite merc very quickly.

You do notice and tease him about it though.

Pyro will give you gifts and drawings they made and you have a bunch of them on your wall. Most are people burning to death but you still put them up, the happy noises Pyro make are worth it.

If you are upset or get hurt, expect Pyro to give you a band-aid or a very weird attempt of a kiss to "kiss it better." The thought is what counts.

🍷 SPY 🍷

You meet your dad later on and it's a rather tense meeting. It's been a while since you last saw him and you are quite upset about it. Especially if you notice his relationship with Scout. But after a long talk and explaining everything to you, you understand. Still, you wish he had told him, but now you have to continue play along with Scout thinking Tom Jones is his father.

Spy actually asks you about Scout and sometimes you tell him to learn it himself, but others you do want to catch up with him.

Everyone else notices the tension between the two of you, but no one can't really pin point why. They think that you two just have personalities that clash.

At first Spy doesn't seem much interested in you being around but he does end up asking about your life, what you've been up to, why did you accept joining the team.

He will not act like it, but he cares and worries about you as much as he cares and worries about Scout.

Spy is happy that Scout had someone else around to keep an eye on him and he will ask you to continue doing so. It might piss you off, but you wouldn't let anyone hurt Scout or anything happen to him as long as you are around.

🚙 SNIPER 🚙

You are surprised when you learn that Sniper is aware of Scout's relation to Spy and you. But you quickly learn how observant this man is.

You two actually have a rather nice relationship. You enjoy being around the man who doesn't treat you differently despite being Scout's sister or Spy's daughter.

He is not the best for comfort but if you need a break from the chaos that the team brings you are welcome to come along for one of his jobs, so long as you don't distract him too much.

Sniper does occasionally ask a few questions, but not too many, he respects your privacy.

You are surprised at how level-headed Sniper is and you do like that. Talking to him is very easy to unless it's about feelings.

You do like nature and going out and you ask him about all the things he's seen. You do notice he is a family man too the more you hang out with him.

You notice when he'll ask if everything's alright after a bad fight with either Spy or Scout or how he'll tell you to give them time before you talk to them again.

At first, Sniper won't say it out loud, but eventually, you two slowly begin talking about your family. His mom and dad and Spy and Scout and the bonds you have with them. You have a silent understanding of what you go through and your bond is actually rather strong.

Head Engineer Mark x Reader headcanons.

He’s very much a puppy and follows you around to the point that the rest of the crew knows that to find Mark they have to find you first or vice-versa.

Like every puppy he’s also affectionate and a lot, of course he’s the king of denying it because him? loving his captain? That’s unprofessional and no he totally doesn’t have feelings what is everyone talking about?

He’s definitely the type to give you compliments when you do a good job and try to help you every way he can, he also likes hugs but he’s not too big on the others finding that out, especially not Celci. Unfortunately for him everyone knows he absolutely loves you and has been teased about it.

 Mark is insecure, he doubts his own abilities a lot no matter how much he brags about them, it doesn’t help that some members of the crew constantly call him stupid or idiot and while he sure has his moments where you doubt him you know in the long run that he’s smart and trustworthy. Of course, Mark needs a confirmation outloud of a job well done constantly, so whenever you tell him that he becomes super happy and will never fail to say “thank you, captain!” excitedly. He may also hug you tightly if no one is around.

 He’s the biggest PDA giver ever. Hugs? Kisses? Ruffling your hair? Hand-holding? Yeah all those and more. Mark can never get enough of you and he’ll always make an excuse to be able to hold you. In public, at most he will hold your hand or pat your shoulder.

If he had to say which part of you he loves the most,it would most definitely be your eyes. To him they are the most important part of someone since they’re the windows to the soul and yadda yadda yadda. But really he will get lost looking at how beautiful they are, he’d say it’s like looking at space which is something he loves maybe as much as he loves you.

One of Mark’s favouite activities to do is looking at space through the not-so-safe-glass-window he put on the deck along with you. He might have a cup of coffee on hand and be lost in thoughts after a while or enjoy to have a deep conversation with you or just talk about random stuff, maybe some memories you two share, maybe how the crew is doing... he just loves to hear you and be surrounded by the two things he loves the most. Similarly you love to hear him go on and on on about how much he loves space, and could catch him singing too. You did once tell him he had a nice singing voice and he was a babbling mess after that.
