Celebrate the Love Month with Filipino Favorites

Aside from Legaspi Market and Salcedo Market, at the heart of Mandaluyong lies the seat of the Liton legacy, the former site of the company’s textile plant now called the Liberty Center. Today, Litton is recalibrating its core and is relaunching Liberty Center as new integrated mixed-use development called Mandala Park.

Christmas Shopping at Tutuban Night Market
Christmas is the time for giving and sharing the blessings we received throughout the year. Counting more days to go for Christmas Day. I can't wait to open the early Christmas gifts that I received, attend family reunions and the most awaited event is the birth of Jesus Christ.
I was invited to be part of the Tutuban Night Market Challenge located at C.M. Recto Avenue. Tutuban Center is known to be selling an affordable items. We were given a budget of P500 for Christmas Shopping, Experience the TC Carnival and taste the street foods in Tutuban within one hour. So what’s the catch of the challenge? Each participants will upload creative shots in Instagram and one of the participant will win.
So here's what happen:
First, I tried one of the rides in Tutuban Center Carnival. I want to ride on the Flying Fiesta, unfortunately I’m having a hard time using my phone camera in night time so I decided to ride in the mini carousel. Seriously, I enjoyed the ride while taking selfies. This costs for only P40 plus P10 for the entrance fee at the TC Carnival.
Next stop, is taste at least one the street foods in TC, so I chose to buy a dynamite that costs P20.
And the most awaited part of the challenge, is SHOPPING! Not for myself but for my relatives and for my first ever inaanak. These are the list of prices and items that I bought.
· Hello Kitty Tumblr- P100
· Santa Claus, Bunny, & Jesus Christ Figuring’s- P100
· 2 shoes- P80
· Folding Fan – P40
· 2 pouches – P60
· 2 dress- 70
A total of P450. See? It is really affordable!
To sum up my experience, I really had a great time looking for an affordable items. Since there is an easy access of transportation (PNR train) from Alabang to Tutuban, I would definitely be back here soon.
I recommend Tutuban Night Market for Christmas Shopping because of it’s ambiance and charisma that brings people to the market. The market has many varieties of products you could find. It also has a delicious selection of foods so even when you go shopping, you won’t go hungry. This is one of the places that you can enjoy shopping at any time of the day. To those who are planning to visit Tutuban Center, it is open every night and will operate 24/7 nearing the end of the year.

Our Kind of Date for this Coming Christmas Feast
It is the 9th Samsung Cooking Workshop with Chef Ernest Reynoso Gala. Who says, only a culinary student can cook? Even an engineering student can learn how to cook and also bake. Actually, ANYONE CAN COOK. You just need a proper handling of food. Since my parents are not around, I invited my boyfriend, Fer, to join with me.
Here are the 2 recipes that Chef Ernest taught using the Samsung Microwave Oven
Christmas Chocolate Cupcakes
Ingredients:
· 2 squares unsweetened chocolate
· 1/3 cup softened salted butter
· ¼ cup all-purpose cream
· 1 ¼ cup cake flour
· 1 cup granulated sugar
· 1 whole egg
· 1 tsp. vanilla
· 12 tsp. baking soda
· ¾ cup water
Line 12-2 inch microwavable ramekin muffins cups with muffin papers.
Procedure:
1. Put in a microwavable bowl unsweetened chocolate bars and butter.
2. Cover with wrap.
3. Set Samsung Smart Oven Microwave Mode, 700W and time 1 minute.
4. Remove wrap and mix chocolate and butter with whisk.
5. Add all ingredients except flour. Mix well for one minute.
6. Add flour and mix 1 minute more until no more flour is seen in the mixture.
7. Scoop mixture onto muffin paper.
8. Transfer to Samsung Smart Oven.
9. Set Samsung Smart Oven, Microwave + convection mode to 180C. Time 3 minutes and 30 seconds.
10. Tap center of cake with spoon if springs back it is finished. Cool.
11. Top with whipping cream and sprinkles.

Christmas Cupcakes with LOVE!
Chicken Mac Casserole
Ingredients:
· ¼ cup utter cooked Macaroni wash and drained
· ¼ cup butter
· 1/3 cup chopped white onion
· 1/3 cup celery
· 1/3 cup green bell peppers
· 1 cup chopped 1 inch cubed chicken breast
· ½ cup all-purpose flour
· 4 cups milk
· 1 inch cube quick melt cheese
· 1/3 cup parmesan cheese
· 1 tsp. fine salt
Procedure:
1. In a pan, melt butter, onion, celery and green bell peppers.
2. Cook until soft.
3. Add chicken and salt. Cook for one minute
4. Add flour. Mix well
5. Add milk. Mix with whisk until simmering.
6. Add quick melt cheese. Turn off fire.
7. Fold in Macaroni.
8. Transfer to microwavable dish.
9. Top with Parmesan cheese.
10. Set Samsung Smart Oven, Microwave+Convection mode to 180C. Time7 minutes.
11. Top with parsley.

Latte Art Competition 2015
Latte Art brought competition in a different level. Figaro, the first Filipino Coffee Company held their Latte Art Competition at Figaro DBP Building last November 14, 2015. The participants are the Figaro baristas from the different branches and franchise. It aims to improve the barista’s latte art design skills and to foster camaraderie among the different barista representatives.

Halloween Party Dishes
Halloween is celebrated on evening of 31 October by many people around the world. Many people from all age groups take part in the event including the most famous and fun part enjoyed by the kids called trick or treating. The evening will also see many organized parties where children and adults dress up in strange but interesting costumes. To help us in preparing meals for Halloween Parties, Chef Ernest Gala planned spooky menus for the 8th Cooking Workshop at Gala Stars Culinary.

Ingredients:
· 4 burger buns
· Lettuce
· 250 grams (1/4 kilo) Monterey Ground Beef
· 2 tbsp. chopped spring onions
· 1/3 cup Japanese breadcrumbs
· 2 eggs
· ¼ tsp salt
· ¼ tsp pepper
Procedure:
1. Slice each burger buns horizontally and place a romaine lettuce on each.
2. For the patty, mix in a bowl all the ingredients, ground beef, spring onions, Japanese breadcrumbs, eggs, salt and pepper.
3. After mixing, form into 4 balls. Flatten out into a patty.
4. Set SAMSUNG SMART OVEN on MICROWAVE + GRILL FUNCTION. Time 4 minutes. Press start. Invert patty and set on MICROWAVE + GRILL FUNCTION. Time 4 minutes. Add the cheese on each patty. Press GRILL FUNCTION. Time 20 seconds to 1 minute.
5. Put on prepared lettuce lined bun. Serve.
Spider Eggs
Ingredients:
· 6 eggs
· ¼ tsp salt
· ½ tsp white pepper
· 2 tsp chopped onion
· 1 tbsp pickle relish
· 1/3 cup mayonnaise
· Meat sauce
· Black oilves
Procedure:
1. Boil 6 eggs in water for 12 minutes. When eggs are done put in ice water for 30 seconds. Gently peel the shell. Cut in half lengthwise using knife or French fry cutter. Remove egg yolks, set aside.
2. Mix the ingredients, salt, white pepper, onion, pickle relish and mayonnaise in the bowl.
3. Add the egg yolks. Transfer in a pastry bag with a star tip. Pipe out on 12 egg whites shell. Top with the meat sauce and black olives.
4. For the meat sauce: Put in a microwavable bowl, 1 cup meat sauce. Put in SAMSUNG SMART OVEN. Cover with cling wrap. Set on microwave mode on high and time 2 minutes. Remove wrap.

Samsung and Yuchengco Museum launch interactive exhibit on National Artist BenCab
National Artist for Visual Arts Benedicto Cabrera popularly known as BenCab marks his 50 years as an artist.
Over the years, BenCab has built a monument to Philippine contemporary art and has inspired thousand of artists through his paintings and fine art prints.
Samsung Electronics Philippines supports the Yuchengco Museum’s tribute exhibition to BenCab in celebration of his 50th anniversary. The interactive exhibit, dubbed BenCab in Two Movements, will be on view at the museum from 1st of October 2015- 16th January 2016.
The exhibition highlights BenCab’s handpicked works he created to capture the dance movements of London0 based Chinese dancer San Lee, and Polish dancer and choreographer Pauline Wycichowska.
The exhibit uses customized Smart TV and mobile apps to enhance interactive experiences that are both artful and enjoyable. With digitalized works from BenCab’s sketchbooks, a museum visit is now fun, informative and exciting.
