Witchy Cleaning: Monday Edition 🌙🐇🐚
How to magically clean your home on a Monday
Areas of Focus: bedroom, bathroom, laundry, mopping, washing
Energies: the moon, sleep, water, peace, emotions
Ingredients: lavender, mugwort, verbena, jasmine, water
Tasks to choose from: change the bedsheets; mop the floors; do the dishes; run a load of laundry; tidy your bedroom; wipe down mirrors; clean your drains; wash the shower curtains; clean buildup off any faucets; wipe down toilets, sinks, showers, and tubs; clean the toilet bowl; spray and wipe down any dirty surfaces
Cleaning recipes (if you’re into that): 1:1 water and vinegar, steep lavender buds or sleepytime teabags and wash surfaces with it (after they’ve been cleaned with mundane cleaning solutions); spray your rooms with a lavender room mist, use water, lavender buds or oil, amethyst or quartz, add jasmine, yglang ylang, vanilla, or other calming scents if you want, mix mix mix in a spray bottle and go to town
Enchantments: play ocean waves while cleaning; sing sea shanties or lullabies; use water to make sigils on surfaces before you clean them
Finishing touches: redecorate with amethyst (keep out of the sun so it doesn’t fade!); put jasmine, baby’s breath, lavender, or some such flower in a vase; dedicate the day and cleaning to the moon; honor your emotional wellbeing by being gentle with your energies after you’re done; hydrate!!!

Imbolc Ritual
To connect with your genius loci~
Been seeing a lot about pancakes as a traditional Imbolc food, and how they are eaten on Imbolc because they resemble round bellies and sunshine. That may be true, but it’s also important to remember that, historically*, when living with the seasons and the land, you’d probably be sick and tired of pancakes on February 1st, because that’s all you have left to eat before the first spring harvest. Refrigerators and trucks that ship food to your city from around the world weren’t exactly around when Imbolc was first celebrated, and eggs, milk, butter, and meat were basically all you had left that was fresh. Grain and flour keeps a long time. Pancakes were just what people were able to eat. *Not to discount the symbolism at all, just to add another layer to the holiday!
So, in the spirit of connecting with our, well, spirits of place, I wanna suggest a fun Imbolc meal: do some research on what foods are available in your area this time of year. Up north, you might not have a whole lot except animal products or grains and such that keep a long time. Further south, you may have a lot of tasty veggies or fruits still in season. Make a meal using what’s traditionally available to you right now in your locale. Here in New York, I will definitely be eating pancakes with syrup for breakfast, and a lot of bread, cheese, venison, etc throughout the day.

Types of Witches: children’s setting edition
Hundred Acre Woods🐝🎈🐻: hunny used in almost every spell. Ceramics and clay pitchers as vessels. Heavy magical baking going on. Drinks milk with their toast. Rainwater as a cleansing and playful force. Splashing in puddles in their rain boots and their umbrella while chanting spells. Inner child work. Loves the bees. Force of sunshine, joy, laughter, and kindness. Animal familiar is some kind of pastoral wildlife, such as a badger, gopher, or field mouse. Lives in rural England, friends with the local trees and flowers. Understands that weeds are flowers, too, once you get to know them.
Wonderland♥️❤️🐛: dream work, keeps a detailed dream journal. Lover of tarts. Interprets the cards while playing poker. Cat familiar. Works closely with butterfly and caterpillar spirits. Knows how to identify the local mushrooms in the woods. Sassy, knows their own self-worth, and is very opinionated. Can be competitive at croquet. Tarot card identifier the Queen of Cups.
Neverland🌳✨💫: inner child work to keep magic alive. Happy thoughts, a beacon of positivity. Knows the names of all the local plant and animal species--though perhaps not by the most scientific ones. Innate ability to play the best pranks. Chaos agent. Trickster and mischief maker. Works with the air and wind element, probably goes paragliding, skydiving, or bungee jumping regularly to connect. Forest fairy. Friend to animals and feyfolk.

Idea: a Stitchwitch’s Grimoire
Okay, hear me out: have y’all seen those embroidery sampler books where the pages are fabric? Okay. So. This is a niche post, but if you like stitchcraft in your witchery, or practice mainly stitchcraft, consider: a grimoire incorporating the idea and taking it further. I’m thinking paper signatures bound alongside fabric sampler signatures. You could use weaving samples as pages, or embroider sigils on scrap fabric, and have some paper signatures attached to some fabric signatures, and the paper signatures could have pattern notes, information, etc that needs writing so you don’t have to sew all the words on. And like. You can do iron resist for writing on fabric, too! And if you dye fiber, you can use dyed stuff in there, too. You can keep pages closed with kumihimo bracelets, a friendship bracelet, an i-cord, or an inkle band. I just, idk, I think this is fun and I wanna do it but I also wanna see other people do it too!

time magic hack (or something like that)
Witch tip I’ve learned the hard way: if you are a little witch like me who struggles with mental health and may have fewer spoons on certain days, don’t wait for Sunday to roll around to start a project. Same with the first day of the month. Do not fall for New Years. If you want to start a project on a Sunday, but it’s a Wednesday, go for it, because you may not have the spoons by the time Sunday rolls around. And don’t start tasks in the morning with the hope you’ll end in the evening. Time doesn’t have a set beginning and end anyway, it’s much more fluid and chaotic than that.
If you want to use time in your magical practice, start when you feel like it, and work time into where you are currently. If you want to start a new habit but it’s a Tuesday night, cool. Work with the Mars energy. It takes a lot of energy and courage to start a new habit, and Mars takes action no matter what. Night isn’t known for new beginnings, but it is known for emotion, intuition, etc. Can you use that emotional moon energy to do some reflection and shadow work on why you wanna do the new habit? Get to the ‘why’ and make more effective systems to make the new habit work?
The clean slate of a new week/month/year works really well for some people, but as someone with a schizoaffective brain, I want to take action when I can. If my magical ritual really doesn’t vibe with whatever time “now” is, I’m going to look for the soonest possible time I can do it. Because I might hit a depressive episode, might need to pivot my priorities, etc.
New Years Resolutions and holidays/sabbaths really stress me out because I may not have the spoons to do something that day, or even that week or month. Am I alone?

so I got excited about tarot today
Tumblr media
Laid out all the major arcana from my Everyday Tarot Mini deck to look for patterns and meaning from the hero’s journey.
Then got super distracted interpreting not just the progression but the symbols on the cards.
Tumblr media
Like how Death has a sunflower on his flag. See that??? It’s there, on his flag. Wtf Death. That’s a suspiciously cheery image, considering the sunflower symbol is only on The Fool, The Empress, Strength, and The Sun, all cards associated with life and vitality and joy. I knew that the Death card wasn’t the big bad card of the deck, because I’d memorized the meanings and such, but then when I noticed he had a sunflower, I got super excited because EVERYTHING MUST END (note the keys on his belt, I hate gendered imagery of any kind but damn he doesn’t discriminate) BUT EVERY END LEADS TO NEW LIFE AND REBIRTH. Fuck. And the Sun comes after Death!!! Right before Judgement and The World!!! DEATH’S PROMISE CAME TRUE holy fuck I love the cards.
Tumblr media
AND THEN I got super excited because I noticed that The Moon in this deck literally obscures the image of The Sun. Fear and mystery and shadows obscure clarity and any chance you may have at fully integrated joy.
Tumblr media
Speaking of The Moon. Ever notice that The Chariot has moon symbols on her cape? She’s wearing the moon, a symbol of fear, unknown, and mystery, on her sleeves. Like, The High Priestess is all about being in tune with mystery and your shadowy side, but I was NOT expecting to notice the moon in The Chariot. That’s so cool! Especially considering:
Tumblr media
The Chariot, which I normally consider a super forceful, driven card--characteristics I typically associate with The Sun--doesn’t have a sun symbol anywhere on her. She’s wearing the moons as her badge of honor, and her crown has The Star. Yes, The Chariot is all about taking control of your life, but it’s not a certain, clear, joyful occasion. She has no idea what’s going to happen. She doesn’t need to know either. She has hope, and that’s enough for her. And it’s SUPER cool considering that the next card after The Chariot, Strength, DOES have the sun image on her. Which mirrors the later part of the Fool’s journey, after the Tower collapses, and he is guided by the Star to keep going and confront the fears present in The Moon, after which he can step into The Sun.
-
I fucking love tarot, and I love this deck for giving such a beautiful, intuitive image to interpret. This deck was my first tarot deck, and although I’ve purchased beautiful artsy decks since then, I still love this one best and I’m so glad I learned on it for this reason. Fucking genius. If you’re learning tarot, I cannot tell you enough how valuable it is to have an intuitive deck to learn with.

You don't ever have to take your craft all that seriously. If you don't want to do big spells you can stick to simple stuff. If you're comfortable where you're at you don't have to do anything more.

Types of Witches: Rainbow Edition
just for fun
Unicorn Witch 🦄⭐️✨: color magic infused into every aspect of their practice. Rainbows worked into their glamour for the day (think rainbow makeup, colorful outfits, and bright accessories). Crystals--particularly the sparkly druzy or aura ones. Probably identifies with air or water, all free flowing love and light. Definitely bakes magical cupcakes for their friends, their favorite recipe is probably a lemon cake base for joy, strawberry icing for love, and lots of sprinkles for pure fun.
Mermaid Witch 🐬🐠🐚: sea witchcraft at its finest, along with a healthy dose of good, old fashioned, vain glamour spells at all hours of the day. Always brushing negativity out of their hair. Swimming. Singing their enchantments. Not just lunar magic like sea witches, they have to sunbathe frequently to keep up their energy. High sodium, needs to watch their salt intake. Drinks rum.
Magical Girl Witch 🩰⭐️🌸: has perfected their glamour magic disguise and enchanted a special clothing item with their personal magical energy. Has a signature spell (or two or three, gotta upgrade where you can) for giving evil bullies what they deserve--and it’s probably a super cute curse written in glitter ink. Strong found family Squad of badass friends. Hopeless romantic, works love spells by writing cute notes to their crushes and sealing them with a kiss.

Stitchcraft Correspondences
Lately in my grimoire, I’ve been working on stitchcraft, knitting, and fiber magick information. Thought I’d share! I couldn’t find a lot of stuff on this, so lemme know if you have information to fill in the gaps, or if I’ve forgotten something. I most definitely have not used every piece of this post in a single project, that would be overwhelming, I just pick and choose depending on what’s appropriate, realistic, and attainable for the project.
Tools based on materials and purpose
Knitting/Sewing Needles - fire; the wands tarot suit; manifestation; turning nothing into something
Subcategories - aluminum needles for air, Mercury, communication, mental energy, making gifts for someone else to express something; bamboo needles for earth, prosperity, abundance, growth, attraction, finishing quickly and making lots and lots of lovely knitting; plastic needles for...air?, flexibility, durability, adaptability, and the ability to change and bend without breaking
Scissors - air; the swords tarot suit; judgement; clarity; banishing; “cutting back” on unwanted or excessive energies
Stitch Patterns based on the quality of the fabric it produces or the process of making the fabric
Garter/Stockinette/Ribbing/Moss - earth; strong foundations; grounding
Cable - binding; protection; flow; cycles; attraction; earth or water *cables draw the fabric in as well as intertwine with other strands of knitting, great for drawing in or tying together energies
Stranded colorwork - protection; security; warmth; earth or fire *stranded knitting makes a very thick and warm fabric, that’s why it’s great for mittens and sweaters
Lace - air; wind; adaptability; flexibility; mental energy; clarity
Waves/Chevron - water (duh); flow; emotions
Fiber Types based on the qualities the fiber has and the symbolism of the creature or plant it comes from *synthetic fibers also listed, had trouble with those, mostly based on how it behaves once it’s knitted
Wool - warmth; safety; protection; warding; new beginnings; spring; love; probably any element tbh
Mohair - air or fire; freedom; mental energy
Silk - the Moon; water or air; the underworld; shadow work; banishing; protection; binding
Cotton - water, air; strength; durability
Bamboo - earth; abundance; prosperity
Linen - water; flow; slow progress; adaptability; quiet but unyielding strength
Nylon - earth; strength; durability
Acrylic - water; flexible; adaptability, durability, longevity
Knitting Techniques based on what you’re doing with the fiber to make it do what you want
Steeking - banishing
Casting on - new beginnings
Binding off - binding
Weaving in ends - endings
Dropped stitches - dropping an unwanted energy
Intarsia/Shapes/Embedded Images - depends on what you’re putting in there, ex: hearts for love, moon for emotions or shadows, the sun for joy, spirals for progression and growth
Numerology use for pattern or stitch repeats/counts *I’m not great at numerology, this is very beginner
0 - potential, empty space, clean slate, new beginnings. *Represent with a yo/eyelet
1 - BOOM, manifestation, new beginnings, the start of something new
2 - balance, duality, choices, binaries
3 - creation, growth, relationships, looking ahead
4 - foundations, structure, stability
5 - change, challenge
6 - compassion, harmony
7 - magic, spirituality, divine, wisdom, reflection, understanding
8 -  movement, progress, change
9 - completion, fulfilment
10 - cycle ends and begins again, transformation
Other Things to Incorporate just random techniques you can layer
Embellishments - appliques/embroidery/etc can be sigils or spell out messages, make sure your decorations are themed with the project’s intent
Color Magic - for intent
Green Witchcraft - use herbs in the water you use to soak and block your knits once you’re finished, or use oils to dab on your tools
Type of FO - think of what purpose the finished object is going to serve and then play with that intent (things that protect you from the cold are going to be good for protection, blankets are great for love and security and warmth, toys will be good joy, love, or safety charms for children, etc. You’re already knitting the project for a reason, use the other things here to enhance your craft and make it ~magical)
