Sigils!!

Sigils are an almost basically free way to cast spells when you have nothing else. All you need is paper and a pen, which most people have. And even if you don’t have that, you just need a thing to write with and a surface to write on (imagine making a sigil in the dirt with a stick, or by grating a rock on another rock,,, so cool of u).

STEP ONE!

Get your phrase you want to sigilify. make sure its affirmative, and specific if you need it to be. I'm going to use an example phrase specific to me because I have finals tomorrow.

I AM EDUCATED IN AMERICAN GOVERNMENT

(fyi, you could stop here if youre open for an intricate sigil, or stop at the next step. It doesnt matter, its intention that counts. Anyways, heres the sigil circle if you stop here)

okay, we have our phrase. now we remove the vowels.

now we have our weirdly pronounceable phrase. next we remove all duplicate letters.

Look at our wonderful letter jumble! Next we make this handy dandy little chart that converts every letter into 1-9.

Wunderbar!! Now we turn our letters to numbers.

Gorgeous! now we use this sigil wheel.

I like to start my sigils with a circle and end it with a line, the opening and closing of the phrase, so to speak. Heres what it looks like on the wheel.

in a different shade to differentiate it too. Now you can add your own flair to it, make it sharp, curvy, add extra lines and decorum, whatever. I keep mine simple, so my final result looks like this:

Research is Devotion Friends!!

Hey, like, literally just make a playlist. Of all your favorite witchy songs. Anything. Even if they’re non witchy, anything that makes you think of your practice. Play it, and research your practice. Anything that relates to it. Deities, history, metaphysical shops nearby, Pinterest boards, my tumblr posts ;), folklore, the history of witchcraft in your area, paganism in different cultures, different pantheons. Literally anything. You spending time with your practice in any way or form can be considered your devotion. Some people don’t have the space or safety. Plus it’s fun to learn new things.

If you feel like you have nothing to research, look into Pennsylvanian Pow wowing, or Braucherei. Literally almost all of my ancestors did it. It saved my aunts life. Totally super cool stuff.

lil witch things

In some cases, if your path so follows, runes can be even easier to keep with you. You can make your own runes and tarot cards that are packed with intention and energy since you made them.

if you cant afford a full sized tarot deck, buy a mini one. some are significantly cheaper. Plus, you can keep it with you, for quick divination and constantly having it close to you can help energy bonding.

Look into other types of divination if you worry about lots of travel, having things found, etc. Runes are a lot smaller than tarot cards.

You can make your own divination tools for extra cheap and they are packed with energy.

For all my domestic therian s out there who want to wear a collar but family ridicule you for it/it’s something you might get teased for:

At hobby lobby and Joanne’s, they have leather straps with snaps on them, they look like this

And make wonderful collar substitutes. You can even decorate them if you want! They’re very soft, and can easily come off if they’re caught in something! They’re in the jewelry and beads section.

They aren’t as expensive as things sold specifically as collars too, so if you aren’t able to spend a lot on gear but really want a collar, they’re awesome!

Closet Witch thing

If you liv in a house where even drinking tea is questionable (“weird hippie stuff”, etc) try gum. Gum is probably the most least suspect thing. There’s peppermint, spearmint, cinnamon. And a whole bunch of fruits so if you find magical properties of fruits that can also work. This can also go for candies and salty snacks too.
