I just wanted to say the rpg looks really cool! I'm nervous joining though I know really *nothing* about A Court of Thorns and Roses series

Honestly, you have nothing to be nervous about! We’re loosely inspired by the books just with the whole faerie court system, and I took some plot elements from the books for my own characters, but it really isn’t necessary to have read the books to join!
I’m happy to clarify anything that might be confusing, but if I was to boil the plot down to the pure basics - There are 7 faerie courts, the royal family of each court has a power specific to trueborn members of their family, and there is a lot of rivalry between the courts. That’s really all you need to know to join!

would you be open to ocs inspired by throne of glass characters, or is it only acotar?
I’d definitely be open to it! I’d suggest steering away from absolute carbon copies of the book characters, but you could certainly use elements of their character plots for your own (I personally borrow the names of a lot of ToG characters)
So some character plot ideas based on ToG characters but tweaked to fit this RP could be:
SPOILERS (sort of) BELOW IF YOU HAVEN’T READ THE THRONE OF GLASS SERIES
A lost Privara sibling, who has the ability to shapeshift but was cast out of the royal family for some reason and has made their home in another court. Perhaps they only realise that they are a royal of the Spring Court when they learn that trueborn Privara’s have the power to shapeshift
A palace guard who was injured severely in a battle and is coming to terms with that as well as his feelings towards his king/prince/queen/princess/etc
A bastard born child of a royal determined to take the throne they think was stolen from them
An assassin who doesn’t care who they have to kill as long as the pay is good
A member of one court who infiltrates another and gets close to the royal family with the intention of spying and reporting back to their home court

If cousins of royals are lords/ladies, how come the princess of the night court is cousin to the king?
King Rhysand chose to make her his heir, so she became princess instead of a lady of the night court
It’s not impossible for cousins of royals to be royals themselves, it’s just something that would need to be discussed first so there aren’t too many royals/too many characters with the same powers
ex. let’s say you wanted to apply for the cousin of the prince of the Day Court. They’d be the king’s niece/nephew and they could be a royal character if there was a plot along the lines of their parents having died, or some situation where it was safer for them to be brought into the royal family under their uncle’s protection

would you be open to cousins of royals as characters?
Of course! They’d be lords/ladies rather than having royal titles, but they would still have the royal family power if they were born into the family rather than marrying in. If the character was a cousin to a taken royal it would need to be discussed with the player first.

Oh this is a tough one. Honestly, either role being taken would be fantastic and there’s plots currently in game that would work for both. I admit, I am slightly more biased to Sophie Skelton just because I love Outlander so much!

So I’ve been doing some research on this tumblr update and apparently queued posts and posts with links in aren’t showing up in the tags?
Obviously this is a problem as I have spent hours building up the queue on our promo blog and now none of those ads are reaching prospective applicants. While I try and figure out a way around this, I’d love it if our members could consider suggesting PrythianHQ to any of their roleplaying friends. No pressure to do so if you don’t want to, but it would be a huge help just until I can figure out how to promote the roleplay when promos aren’t working.

Character fates after the fire - Plot Drop 001
Under the cut are details of what happened to each character during the fire.
Rhysand Archeron - Rhys attempted to use his power of darkness manipulation to suffocate the flames and cut off the oxygen, but it didn’t work. He then did his best to get everyone from the Night Court out of the hall before returning to help fight the fire. When the building started to collapse, Rhys became trapped under a fallen ceiling beam and was knocked unconscious. He was dragged from the building by one of the rescuers and has been taken to the infirmary. He has suffered badly from smoke inhalation, a large burn on his right arm and various cuts and bruises. Healers have said he will make a full recovery but his injuries will need tending carefully by them before he can leave.
Elara Vanserra - Despite her powers being proven useless, Elara continued to try and fight the fire even as most people fled. She would have gone down with the building had she not been pulled from the flames by one of her servants despite her protests. She has a few minor burns and scrapes, but no serious injuries.
Rosalia Swann - As soon as it became clear that the fire couldn’t be controlled, Rosalia fled the hall and managed to escape unscathed.
Elric Manderley - Elric leapt into action to guide people to the exits and out of the hall as the fire became more severe, and continued returning to the building as it became engulfed in flames to help people escape before starting to attend to the injured outside. He has a few burns and a couple of nasty cuts that required stitches, but no lasting damage.
Eliana Solari - Eliana stayed while they tried to extinguish the flames and when they couldn't she tried to help evacuate the room.
Carys Dageraad - Carys stayed, trying to help as many people as possible and find her family. She eventually passed out from smoke inhalation, and was pulled from the fire by one of the Dawn Court guards, Alistair. She is suffering severe smoke inhalation, as well as various burns, cuts, and bruises. Her family is working tirelessly to heal her, but she is bedridden until she gains her strength back.
Oralie Archeron - Oralie got out quickly, aided by others, but is suffering the mental and emotional turmoil after such an event.
Mireille Darlington - In the back with the commoners, Mireille was one of the first out, and immediately started trying to help the relief as best as she could. She's remained assisting in the infirmary, and has been bringing her scrap fabric for bandages.

Plot Drop 001 - The Great Fire
The memorial for a dead king was never going to be a happy event, but it was at least going as well as could be expected. With members of all seven courts united, the room was tense but people were respectful enough not to cause a scene at a dead man’s memorial. Or so it was thought.
Everyone was gathered in the Great Hall to say their final goodbyes and share stories of King Beron when his memorial portrait was suddenly engulfed in flames. Eyes immediately turned to the Vanserras, the only ones with the power to do this, but they looked just as shocked as everyone else. Within seconds, the fire had spread to the flowers laid out for King Beron. With the power to manipulate fire, any one of the Vanserras should have been able to extinguish these flames, but their powers would not work against it. Neither the Majuri’s or Lupin’s, with their manipulation of water and ice were able to stop the flames either.
As it became clear that putting out this fire was beyond the control of any of the royal powers, panic began. The fire was spreading fast and starting to cut off exits and choices were made. Some ran for their lives, others stayed to try and help fight the fire, and some were injured or even killed in the panic.
Eventually, even those who stayed to try and put out the fire had to flee for their lives, and the survivors watched outside as the flames engulfed the Great Hall and burned it to ash. Strangely, it didn’t spread beyond this one room and the flames seemed to vanish completely once the destruction of the hall was complete.
Now that the palace was safe to return to, the injured were taken to the infirmary to be healed, and those who did not survive have been removed from the wreckage of the Great Hall to be laid in their final resting places. After the chaos of the fire and the shock of none of the royals being able to extinguish it, people are starting to turn on each other again. Accusations are flying, tensions are high, and the fear of the unknown is on everyone’s minds.
Who started the fire? Why could none of the royal powers extinguish it? Why did it only destroy the Great Hall and not spread to the rest of the palace? All questions on everyone’s mind, but the answers are nowhere to be found. Not yet.
OOC - So there we have it! a mysterious fire that could not be put out burned the Great Hall to a crisp and no one knows who is responsible. If you want to write what happened during the fire, self paras and closed interactions are allowed, but all open starters need to be set after the fire. Remember to tell the main what happened to your character during the fire! Did they run, stay and try to fight it, get injured, escape unscathed, or something else? At the moment, everyone is still in the Autumn Court and dealing with the aftermath of the fire, but our next event will move everyone to a different court, so stay tuned!

Event 001 - King Beron’s Memorial Service
You are cordially invited to attend the memorial service for King Beron in the Autumn Court.
As we are all aware, the King died last month in a tragic fire. Now that his funeral has been held and the Court has had time to mourn, the Vanserra family would like to invite every court to come, pay their final respects and share their memories of King Beron.
All guests will be welcomed with food and drink upon arrival, and the memorial will begin in The Great Hall at seven o’clock.
OOC - We are officially open and it’s time for our first event! Our starting off point for all characters will be arriving at the Autumn Court palace for King Beron’s memorial. The arrival reception will be where you can interact in character for the first time, and this will last from 25th June at 7pm GMT to 28th June at 7pm GMT. After 7pm, we will move on to the memorial itself where all characters are gathered in The Great Hall. You can start new threads for this or continue previous ones if preferred.
The event will end on 30th June with a plot drop to follow that is sure to start some drama, so keep your eyes peeled after the event for that post to find out what happened, as I will be asking for what happened to each of your character’s during the plot drop! You can write closed starters or paras for what happened during the plot drop, but any open starters should be set after it has happened.
