Some years ago my mother gave me advice in regards to dealing with tough situations with my son. She told me when I holler it means that I've lost control. Of course I struggle with this when I'm upset, angry, or tired because most of the time, the issue isn't my son. Instead, it is my inability to control my emotions and express MY feelings. More than anything, I am being studied by my child and EVERYTHING that I do reflects onto him and who he will grow to be. Happy Wednesday!!! This morning, Jaythan asked to not go to basketball practice because he has basketball AND gym on Mondays and Wednesdays. We talked about his commitment to the team and growth that he will endure from continuing to push himself and give his best! Our children are capable of doing sooo much so we have to continue to push them to do and be better! They must build their own sense of self-determination so that they may apply it to real world situations as they continue to learn and grow. Former first lady, Michelle Obama once stated: “I can’t cherish you to death. We have to raise our children to be the adults that we want them to be, and that starts young. You can’t be so afraid that life will break them that you don’t prepare them for life. Sometimes our fear keeps us from pushing our kids out into the cold cruel world.
