Well I know they say all goods things Must come to some kinda of ending We were so damn good, I guess we never stood a chance X

There was a tightness in his chest when their lips met. An ache so deep and bitter he wasn’t so sure Shane couldn’t taste it on his tongue. Then again how could he taste the bitterness when salt was coating his tastebuds? Maybe they should talk. Maybe he could explain the hurt away and they could be good again. They could be them again.

“Ry—“

But they both knew this wasn’t forever. This couldn’t last forever. They burned too hot. Too bright. They were irrecoverably shaped and changed. It was Icarus flying to close to the sun. They smoldered and melted in secret.

The pleasure and the pain. Wound together so tightly in their hearts it was no wonder it had to die. Because they knew. From the very start they knew. And try as he might, tangling his fingers in Shane’s hair. Tasting the coffee and the regret in his mouth. Ryan couldn’t forget it.

This was too much. Too much, too good.

“Shane…”

This wasn’t something they got to keep.

“I’m sorry.”
