Embracing the Uncool
Thanks to @6tig9 for the inspiration x3 Part one is here
Stiles was in the kitchen prepping veggies for dinner while Derek read a book at the table. He placed his book down and said, “Uh oh.”
Stiles was gonna ask what he meant but not too long after he hears the door open and the stomping of his son’s feet.
Johnny storms into the kitchen and Stiles doesn’t have to be a werewolf to sense how pissed off his son was.
“What happened?” Stiles asked, immediately worried.
“Your husband is IMPOSSIBLE!” Johnny yelled before storming off to his room and shutting his door with a loud SLAM.
“Oh boy...” Stiles muttered. He looked at Derek and silently asked if he had any idea what this was about. Derek only shrugged.
“Honey, we’re home~” Peter sang too happily.
Stiles narrowed his eyes in suspicion but replied just as sweetly. “We’re in the kitchen honey-bear.”
As soon as Peter came into view, Stiles now got a good idea of what upset Johnny.
“Sweet pea sugarplum, apple of my eye...with all the sincerity I can possibly muster, and remember that I love you, but...what the actual fuck?”
Peter was rocking a pink unicorn onesy, hair gelled and styled in a mohawk while wearing those sunglasses with blinds across the frame and a too big hip hop chain around his neck, and glow stick rings around his neck and wrists.
“Oh my god...” Derek laughed. He actually laughed at seeing his uncle like this.
“Before, I used to be so worried about appearing cool but now that parenthood apparently makes it disappear I realized how liberating it actually is,” Peter said with a shit eating grin.
“This is all because of yesterday?” Stiles asked.
“HE SANG ON THE TOP OF HIS LUNGS TO I LIKE BIG BUTTS! I AM TAKING THE BUS FOR THE REST OF MY LIFE!” Johnny yelled from his room.
“’It’s adorable he thinks this is the peek...there’s more to come,” Peter said evilly. Then he looks in the direction of Johnny’s room, “It’s gonna get MORE epic until someone ADMITS I AM THE KING OF COOL!” Then he turns to smile at Stiles, “What’s for dinner?”
“Stir fry. Derek’s apple crumble for dessert.” Stiles replied.
“Oh yum, Talia’s recipe. I’m gonna go get some ice cream to go with it.” Peter said before heading out again.
“Are you gonna talk to either of them?” Derek asked.
“No. I kinda wanna see where this goes.” Stiles answered.

“Stiles?” Derek called out as he closed the door behind him.
“In the kitchen!” Stiles called out.
It was a bit weird how normal things were now, but at some point in his life Derek learned to just roll with things. Stiles and Peter hooking up after their time kidnapped by the ghost riders?  Sure. It actually being more than a weird hook up and one of their healthier relationships? Okay. Stiles and Peter getting married, he was Peter’s best man. Them adopting a wolf cub who’s pack was killed? Totally supportive.
Peter’s apartment suite went from cool bachelor pad to ‘it’s obvious we have a kid’. Derek spent more time there than anywhere else despite owning his own loft. It had more of a pack feel and Derek loved Johnny to bits.
Derek’s seen some pretty ‘weird’ things in the last decade or so that range from him walking in on Peter and Stiles cuddling and being insanely cute together to seeing Peter covered in paint and food chasing around a naked toddler. Derek also knew the importance of a full moon during the beginning years and was always here to add that extra sense of pack and togetherness and bonding Johnny needed.
Today’s weirdness though...was weird.
“Is Peter okay?” Derek asked Stiles as he came into the kitchen.
Stiles rolled his eyes. “He is. He’s just being dramatic.”
“What happened?”
“Johnny wanted to head out to his friends faster than normal and was embarrassed by Peter and his taste in music,” Stiles explained.
“I DO NOT EMBARRASS! I AM COOL! I AM THE EPITOME OF COOL!” Peter yelled as he stormed into the kitchen.
Derek and Stiles shared a deadpanned look.
“NO!” Peter yelled and pointed at the two of them. “This is unacceptable, don’t you see? Our son is being poisoned by those snot nose brats! I told you to let me place him in privet school!”
“Beacon Elementary is where we’ve all gone to Peter...it’s a good school. It’s not the other kids. Johnny’s just at that age. No matter how cool you were or are...you’re a parent, babe. You’re just not cool to a preteen.” Stiles explained.
“This wasn’t supposed to happen to me, Stiles! There are three things that are never supposed to happen to me! I won’t go bald, I won’t get wrinkles, and I will NOT be uncool!” Peter said before he stormed out of the kitchen.
Stiles shook his head and turned to Derek, “Are you staying for dinner? We’re having sloppy joes.”
“You’re not worried about Peter?” Derek asked before he added, “and why do you ask? You know I’ll eat anything you make.”
“Nah. Once you guys go to bed Peter and I will take a nice long drive and I’ll remind him of how young and cool I think he is. He’ll be fine.”
“I appreciate you not giving me any mental pictures...and yet I still have them.” Derek deadpanned.
“Hey, you asked.”

“What’s the matter with you?” Peter asked their son. The ride back from school had been quiet and Peter could sense something was off but usually, Johnny didn’t hesitate to share.
“Why is dad sad?” Johnny asked.
“What makes you say that?” Peter asked in turn. Though he had sensed it too. It wasn’t that Stiles was sad about anything in particular. It was just one of those ruts of sprinkled depression that leaves those notes of sadness.
Peter remembered when they were first living together and he first caught on to those chemosignals. He would panic that he was doing something wrong, something that made Stiles unhappy with him. He went out of his way to make Stiles happy again. Make his favorite meals, take him to see his favorite teams, get him incredibly expensive and rare comic books...anything to get his boyfriend happy with him again.
Stiles sat Peter down and explained to him about his depression. It was an on-going battle, and it wasn’t as bad as when he was a teen. Most of the time Stiles doesn’t even notice it himself, it’s like the white noise in the background...but a wolf would be able to pick up on it.
“He smells sad...I asked him about it and he said he wasn’t but...” Johnny frowned deeply. “I know what sad smells like.”
Peter knelt in front of his son and leaned in to press his forehead against him. Johnny leaned into it, enjoying the wolf gesture.
“You’re not wrong. But your dad didn’t lie either.” Peter told him.
“I don’t understand,” Johnny said.
“Well...as you get older emotions get weird. Complex and weird. There are things called anxiety and depression and they’re things that happen to everyone. It’s easy to get anxious if there’s an important event coming up like a big game or presentation...or a medical exam or even a driver’s test...and you can easily get a great sadness, a depression when you lose something dear...when someone moves away...or even passes away. But after some time and some healing...sometimes...it doesn’t go away.
“And dad...because of his job, and how as serious as it can be...plus his worry about grandpa and his job...dad has a lot of worries. But he’s strong. And he’s got a lot of love for you and me, so just trust that he is very happy but also a bit sad. It’s nothing against us...being human...being alive...we’re not just allowed to have one emotion at a time. Most of the time that’s how it works but sometimes you can feel a mixture of emotions at once...and it’s okay.” Peter explained.
“Oh. Okay...is there anything I can do to help?” Johnny asked.
Peter smiled, “Of course. We can make dad’s favorite food today. We can prepare a bath for him so he can relax when he gets home...and we can snuggle in for a family movie night with his favorite movie.”
“That’ll help?” Johnny asked with a raised eyebrow.
“Of course! No matter what’s out there or what your dad faces, coming home to a good cooked meal, his favorite no less, a clean house, his favorite movie and his favorite people there to hug the bad away? It’s the perfect cure. Now go wash up so you can help me.” Peter instructed.
“Okay~”

Paige loved Derek. Derek loved Paige.  For a while, both of them thought they were in love with each other. But that wasn’t the case. They really did care for each other and after a nearly fatal night after stupidly listening to Peter’s advice, they got closer. Paige told Derek she knew about him being a werewolf and that werewolves were kinda bad at hiding the secret. Derek argued that she was just that perceptive.
Derek didn’t really feel like dating anyone ‘the old fashion’ way and didn’t intend to get into an online relationship either. It just sort of happened. He met a guy Michael Smith online. They hit it off and then began to get flirty and soon Derek was practically obsessed with Michael. But he also felt a bit embarrassed so he kept it a secret from everyone.
Until Michael wanted to meet up.
Derek was hella nervous and decided to bring Paige in. He explained everything and Paige was understanding...until she saw Michael’s profile picture.
“That’s not Michael,” Paige told him.
Derek frowned. “Excuse me?”
“Derek...that’s not Michael. That’s Sheriff’s Stilinski’s son. We do volunteer work at the hospital where his best friend’s mother works...” She said as she pulled out her phone and pulled up a picture of Paige and the Stiles guy, who was Michael.
“I...I don’t understand...No, that’s not...we...Paige, we shared pictures.” Derek said with a blush.
Paige knew Derek was in denial and upset, so she went to her laptop and Skyped called Stiles. He was online and answered pretty quickly.
“Hey, Paige. What’s up?” Stiles asked.
And it was Michael. But apparently not.
“Hey, Stiles...I’m here with my friend, Derek. Do you know him?” Paige asked, leaning away to give Stiles a good view of Derek.
“Hey man. Uh...you’re a Hale, right? I, uh...I’ve helped my dad a few times at big events hosted by the Hales but I don’t think I’ve personally met you? Unless I did? Dude, I am so sorry if I snubbed you or something.” He was sweet. Genuine and sweet and didn’t know him. Derek began to tear up a bit.
Paige moved back into the camera’s focused and smiled at Stiles, “I’m sorry about that uh...Stiles...someone was...catfishing Derek. They were using you to do so. Your pictures.”  Stiles went pale. “Oh fuck...dude. I...a while ago my computer got hacked in. Most embarrassing when my dad got involved and noticed the nudes between me and my ex....I am so sorry.’
“It’s okay Stiles...or at least it’s not your fault. But thanks. I think he needed to see this.” Paige told him.
“Yeah...no problem. Sorry man.”
When Paige hung up, she got up and hugged Derek. He cried for a while before he began to ask some hard questions. Like who the hell was really Michael.  They decided to go to the meet spot together, but watch it from afar. Thankful to his mother’s training, Derek managed to spot some very worrisome red flags.
Hunters had been waiting ready for him.
This had been a horrible trapped and he’d been getting catfished by Kate Argent.
Derek managed to get him and Paige out of there and tell his mom what had happened. It’d been horribly awkward, but Derek had asked her to meet them at Paige’s house so luckily Laura and Peter didn’t know.
The weekend after there’s a knock on the door and it’s Stiles. Derek’s surprised, somewhat embarrassed, but lets him in.
“So...how’d it go? Paige said you figured out who it was?” Stiles asked.
“Uh yeah...total bitch. Rival of my mom who wanted to hurt her.” Derek answered.
“That’s gross. Well, I’m glad you’re okay...all things considered.” Stiles said.
“Thanks...um, any reason you’re here?” Derek asked.
“Well, Paige kinda encouraged me to come in person and uh...ask if maybe...you wanna go get a bite to eat?”
Derek blinked, “What?”
“Well...I don’t know what Michael was like in writing, but maybe you’d give me a chance to prove to you that this face is of a nice guy, albeit somewhat very sarcastic.” Stiles said with a small smile.
Derek blushed but smiled. “Sure, let me get my jacket.”
“Sweet. You know, we should email Max and Nev to tell them about this if it goes anywhere.” Stiles suggested.
“Is this going to go anywhere?” Derek asked.
“I would hope so,” Stiles told him.

Stiles arrives at school after getting a phone call to report to the principles office: What happened? Johnny's never acted out a day in his life!
Secretary smirks in amusement: It's not about your son, Agent Stilinski
Stiles: *is confused*
The Principle's door opens to reveal Peter: Hi dear.
Stiles deadpans: What did you do?
Peter: It was Bitch Becky's fault!
Becky's husband shows up and sighs: Were they fighting about the bake sale again?
Principle: This is Peter's and Becky's second strike. One more and they're banned from the PTA for the rest of the year.

Steve was teasing Danny about how off he was today, which started with him getting to work late. Danny wanted to avoid telling Steve why, but rather than be suspicious he was teasing Danny about how he was getting older.
When the arrived at Danny’s place Steve was about to make another remark when a nearly naked, muscled, good looking and rugged, hairy, beautiful, younger man appeared. He seemed to have woken up from a nap by the sleepy look on his face but didn’t seem to be too bothered by Danny or Steve’s arrival.
Steve himself wanted to reach for his weapon after the shook of the other’s beauty wore off and he realized there was a sexy stranger in Danny’s home. But Danny didn’t seem bothered. He rolled his eyes and scoffed, “What have I told you about wearing clothes?”
“It’s hot.” The other growled, voice deep naturally but more so from sleep. The man yawned before he headed into the kitchen. “Breakfast?”
“It’s 3 in the afternoon Der-bear.” Danny deadpanned.
“Very late brunch then?”
“Sure.” Danny said before turning to Steve, “You’re gonna be late for your governor’s meeting.”
Steve wanted to protest. He never found himself at a loss for words but this was…completely unexpected. So for once…he did what he was told without complaint.
The next day though, he was in a very foul mood. Danny never mentioned having someone new, or someone come to visit. And, okay no Danny didn’t need to tell him everything but Steve deserved when a very hot, younger, musclier, hairier man was sleeping in Danny’s home.
Though he knew he should talk about it with Danny first he couldn’t help but text Grace to see how serious it was.
Do you know your dad’s current houseguest?- SM
Derek? Yeah, dad’s mentioned him. We get Christmas and Birthday cards and stuff. Usually sends me $100 for my B-day.- GW
Not the answer he was looking for or wanted. Worse still was when Danny forgot something at home and asked Derek to come to drop it off for him. He wasn’t in just his boxers anymore but he was in some shorts and a tank top. The whole team watched as Danny and him had a quiet conversation, Danny smiled and laughing all the while. The last thing he heard was Derek say ‘I’ll come to pick you up at five. Reservations are at six.’
“Damn Danny, how much did he cost?” Tani asked with a smirk.
“Far more than you can afford.” Danny joked. But Steve didn’t take it as a joke and might have been a bit unfair to both Danny and Tani in retaliation. Danny ended up leaving sooner than expected because he was just kinda mad at Steve.
—-
“What happened?” Derek asked as they gave their drink order to the waiter.
Danny sighed, “Steve’s being an ass for some reason.”
“Hmm…you know it might be worth mentioning that I’m married.” Derek said as he looked over the menu.
“Why would that matter?” Danny asked.
Derek rolled his eyes. “Danny…Steve is your Stiles.”
It was all Derek had to say. Danny froze but didn’t argue. They gave their order when the waiter came back, before Danny asked, “How is Stiles?”
“As far as he can say, he’s good. Safe at least…for now.” Derek said with slight annoyance.
Danny could understand. Derek was powerful and a werewolf, but his husband and mate was in the FBI, asked to join a task force overseas. Derek had to stay home, unable to help. It’s why he dove hard into his own work, which is why he came to Hawaii.
“He’s the most clever and cunning guy I know, Der. And he loves you…and his dad.  He won’t do anything stupid.”
“I know…I know. But I also know he’s got a hero complex as big as Jupiter…he may not mean to, but in that split second of trouble he might…”
Danny reached over and grabbed Derek’s hand to console him. “He’ll come home.” Danny reassured him.
Derek offered him a small smile in thanks. They then discussed lighter things. How Derek’s job on the island was going and Danny’s kids.
————— “Don’t you trust me?” was the first thing Steve asked when he saw Danny the next day.
“What?”
“Don’t. You. Trust. Me?” Steve repeated, punctuating each word.
“I’m insulted that you ask, but mind enlightening why you think so?” Danny demanded.
“You have a boyfriend. You met someone…a man…and you…you didn’t tell me…” Steve said hurt.
Danny sighed. His talk with Derek helped and this did too, if he was reading it right. “Derek’s not my boyfriend. He’s married to a good friend of mine from the mainland. We met a few years before Grace was born. We’ve kept in touch with snail mail, postcards, random calls and texts…Derek is very much in love with Stiles…if you misread his comfortableness of his body, that’s just a Derek thing. He doesn’t do well with heat.” He can’t explain to Steve why, so he hopes he takes it at face value.
“Where’s his husband then?” Steve asked with his arms crossed.
“Stiles is FBI. He was asked to join a temporary task force overseas. Derek’s not allowed much information, as you may know, so he’s doing his best to keep busy. He’s in town for a job. He buys and sells art to rich people. ”
“Doesn’t that mean he’s got the money for a hotel?” Steve couldn’t help but ask.
“He does but he doesn’t like to stay in hotels. He’s not that much of a people person. Loves nature. He would have camped out in the woods, caught his own food…he’s a survivalist at heart.” Danny explained. “I owed it to Stiles to let him stay with me.” “Ah…I see…” Steve muttered. Now he felt awkward.
“Yeah. Yesterday he took me out to eat as a thank you for housing him. We talked about any Stiles’s updates he had to give and I caught him up about the kids…and…”
“And?” Steve coaxed.
“He said he’d kick my ass if I don’t get off of it and ask you out.” Danny said as he scratched the back of his head awkwardly.
“What?”
“Frankly I’m sure I could take him.” It was a lie. Derek knew how to fight and also had unfair werewolf strength. “But…best to not risk it…for Stiles sake. So?”
“Uh….”
“He’s made reservations. Pretty swanky place…paid for. So you either say yes or I’ll have a father/daughter date with Grace, either way I’m dining like the rich tonight.”
“You’ll have to find something else to do with Grace…cos I accept.”
“You do?” Danny asked, a bit surprised.
“Yeah…but uh…is it too soon to offer to book a hotel for Derek anyway?” Steve asked with a sheepish smile.
Danny smirked, “Save your money…he’s only here for another week. And he can be as stubborn as you.”
“Then do you wanna come and stay at my place for the next 7 days?” Steve tried instead.
Danny rolled his eyes. “Are you gonna be this jealous in our relationship?”
“Probably. Maybe. Yes.”
Danny chuckled as he leaned in and kissed Steve lightly on the lips, “Make sure it stays on the cute side, babe. And maybe I’ll consider it.”

After a high profile case that was more supernatural than normal, Stiles is ‘encouraged’ to take a step back by a superior who knows about the supernatural and doesn’t want Stiles to get fired per se or end up in trouble with the law. Stiles then takes jobs at different security places before becoming a hired bodyguard that takes him to different places around the world.
Peter, after seeing Stiles visit took a very big liking to the older, newer version and just so happened to be wherever Stiles’s new job position was. (That’s why his passport has more stamps than a post office)
On one particular job, Stiles got really hurt. Not life threatening but it took him some time to recover. So his next client was, you guessed it! Peter!
“You’re a werewolf!” Stiles exclaimed.
“No shit Sherlock.” Peter drawled as he passed over the contract.
“Why would you want me as a bodyguard?”
“I have a beautiful body I want you to guard, duh.”
And that’s the start of Stiles becoming an overpaid friend that later became his boyfriend(free of charge ;) )

I like the idea of Chris teaming up more and more with Stiles the more he gains experience in the FBI.
Like at first he’s reluctant but he needs at least someone else on this hunt and Stiles is the only one available. He still sorta sees him as the goofy kid that was trying to help his best friend, not really realizing the danger he was in. But then he sees Stiles in the field and realizes that the FBI’s training and discipline has impacted Stiles and he’s efficient. He’s always been clever but now he can handle himself.
And with each time he calls Stiles, the more cases he’s worked on(both normal and supernatural) Stiles has gained more and more experience. And then after a particularly bad case that might have involved another supernatural creature so Stiles was really on his own cos his team couldn’t fathom the real danger and so he got into so much trouble that he as asked to step down(not fired exactly cos, in the end, he did end up catching a really messed up psycho. His boss just didn’t like the methods Stiles used or that he went solo)
(At this point I imagine Stiles being more like Mitch Rapp from American Assassin) Stiles becomes a hunter for a while, taking down baddies that are killing innocent people. When Chris catches on, he invites Stiles to become a partner with him.

Okay so Vanya caused the apocalypse by destroying the moon. The FREAKING moon! It’s totally canon that Five is a damn genius so he would totally notice in ALL the years that he was in the future that the Moon being gone MIGHT be part of the reason everything is horrible.
So headcanon that once he got back and realized Luther spent a few years on the moon, once they began paying attention to his ‘stopping the apocalypse’ ranting, he consciously chooses not to tell them about the moon cos he knows once he does Luther will become impossible to live with and that’s already saying something.
