Para iniciarmos as atividades do semestre 2024.1 no Núcleo de Estudos e Pesquisas de Fanfic, eu apresentarei uma palestra sobre a relevância de estudar fãs e fandom na modernidade e as diferentes ondas de Estudos de Fãs.

Como o NEPF está sempre trazendo projetos para introduzir os Estudos de Fãs à universidade, esse semestre não será diferente! Além da palestra, falaremos um pouco sobre os projetos ativos do núcleo e alguns planos para o semestre.

A palestra será online e ocorrerá no dia 05/04 às 19h (GMT -3). O link para a palestra está disponível aqui.

A palestra é aberta ao público! Quem desejar receber uma declaração de participação será disponibilizado um documento no dia do evento para preencher com seus dados para poder receber a declaração.

I can't keep this blog running by myself, so I’d love to have people to help me around!

What do you have to do as a moderator?

You have to search for new posts related to fandom and Fan Studies and read them to evaluate their content (we have a compilation of places to help to do this task);

You have to select posts and then tag them according to the topic the posts are about (we have a guide explaining how the tag system works);

Ideally you should know how to queue posts, but it’s not a requirement. If you’re willing to learn, that is more than enough.

You have the freedom to choose how your schedule as a moderator of @studiesof-fandom will work! We only need to have content posted a few days every week to keep this blog running and updated.

Chapter 3 snippet:

“I still can’t believe that just happened,” Kim says. He’s trying to muffle his laughter but failing miserably. Chay sighs. “Go ahead. You can laugh.” Kim presses himself against Chay, dropping his face between Chay’s neck and shoulder. He’s laughing so hard that his shoulders are shaking, though no noise is coming out of his mouth. Chay shakes his head in amusement. Even if it’s at his expense, he likes when Kim is relaxed enough to genuinely laugh. Kim takes a step back and looks at Chay. “She flashed you and you said ‘they seem nice, but no thank you,’” Kim manages to say before doubling over laughing. Chay feels his face reddening. He can’t believe their drunk neighbor just offered them a threesome before showing them her boobs. He doesn’t think he’ll ever be able to look her in the eyes again. “Angel, you’re so polite,” Kim teases him, giving Chay a playful nudge. “Your brother should be so proud for raising such a well-mannered man.”

Who is Porchay Pichaya Kittisawat?

Following up the posts for Kim and Tankhun, we also have to talk about Porchay... as usual please simply add your points or correct me if I made a mistake. Also again: only the show counts, I don't care about the books.

Porchay is the younger brother of Porsche and about 18 years old during the show.

He has a passion for music, but it wanes pretty quickly once Kim is out of the picture. So the question is, how much passion does he really have for music and how much for Wik/Kim? When Kim asks him why he wants to study music, all Porchay has to say is "it's fun". Which is surprising, especially because he knows money is tight and going for music is risky.

Porchay loves video games.

Going by the age difference between him and Porsche, he was about 2 - 3 when his father was killed and his mother abducted, which means he most likely has zero memories of either of them (they died in 2004)

He was raised by his brother up from a certain point (not in the very beginning, because it's not possible) and his uncle must have cared for the boys in his own way until Porsche took over more and more the older he got and shouldered the financial responsibilities, since his uncle gambled the money away. (We do not know how things were during the beginning and of there was money to take care of the house and the boys at first or not)

still, Porchay seems much closer to his brother than to his uncle.

while Porsche tries to shield him, Porchay still witnesses a lot of violence and danger growing up

Porchay wants to help out money wise, but is told to concentrate on school, since Porsche was told by his mother (as an 6-8 year old at the most), that he was not allowed to die until his brother finished school/uni.

Porchay seems impulsive and like at times he lacks a brain to mouth filter, but most of the time he knows what he is doing and what effect it has on the other

Porchay is a slob.

Porchay is thoughtful and plans. His present to Kim and his love confession were thought out and he prepared himself for the reaction/ rejection

Porchay says that he always thought of himself as "an unlucky person", which is diametrically opposed to his sunny and innocent disposition he shows to the world.

Porchay pretends to be ok in front of Porsche even when he is unhappy or falling apart inside.

Porchay is actually a good liar. Not only does he lie to Porsche about his school, but he also manages to lie to Tankhun in a moment of absolute shock, when he finds out who Kim really is. He manages to hide from Tankhun that he knows Kim, surprising Khun, who knows about the warehouse and about Kim going there to save him.

Porchay walks away (Porsche) when he gets angry or hurt or blocks the other person on the phone (Kim). After a while he comes around though (Porsche), even if the explanation the other person has is stupid ('I promise I'll always be there'- Porsche, you work for the mafia, you idiot!)

Porchay is not as innocent as he looks. He lies to his brother about school and goes out drinking and would have taken drugs if Kim hadn't stopped him, which I doubt Porsche knows about.

Porchay was a massive fan of Wik before he ever met Kim in person and judging by his fan corner also had a crush on him way before Kinn and Porsche met.

Porchay shows he cares with gifts (guitar pick, polaroids, the egg with the smilie face), touch and words. He can be quite blunt.

We don't know how Porchay initially reacted when he was told his mother was still alive and held captive by Korn, but when he meets her for the first time, he seems happy, but obviously has no recollection of her.

Porchay goes along with much of what his brother tells him to do without asking many questions (at first), even when he is woken up in the middle of the night and told to pack.

We know that Porchay and Kim went on several dates and that Porchay has been to Kim's apartment at least once, because of the polaroids. Going by Kim's personality we can assume that many of those were Porchay's idea that he then talked Kim into with the help of his puppy eyes.

We don't get to see Porchay and Kinn together a lot, but in the scene we get, Porchay excuses himself without any valid reason to get away from his brother and Kinn and goes back into the house as soon as Kinn joins Porsche and Porchay outside.

Porchay is courageous and goes for what he wants: he asks Kim to tutor him, shows up to sing him the love song, holds him back when he wants to cut their very first tutoring session short and confesses his love for him even though he fears Kim doesn't reciprocate his feelings. He also confronts Kim about fooling him. Porchay is NOT shy at all underneath his awkwardness and nervousness.

“How about this,” Kim says, glancing at Chay. “I’ll finish our food and then I’ll help you with your paper.” Chay doesn’t say anything, admiring the way Kim’s hair falls on his face and how his eyes crinkle at the corners when he smiles. It makes his heart swell with love when Kim looks so gentle because he’s comfortable and at ease. A soft smile appears on Chay’s lips as he stares at Kim. “What?” Kim asks, his head tipping to the side, reminding Chay of one of those curious kittens Kim loves to watch and send to Chay. He has to press his lips together to not giggle at the mental image. “Nothing,” Chay says, amused. He puts the mug on the countertop and hops off the stool, making his way to Kim. “You’re just the best,” he mutters as he plasters his front to Kim’s back, wrapping his arms around Kim’s middle.

Who is Kim Theeranpayakul?

The post by @kimkhimhant  made me think about what we actually know about Kim - and I am going on the show alone and not the books, because I simply refuse to read them again. Once was more than enough

we know he is the youngest of the three brothers, but I don't think we have an exact age. Some speculate he's Porsche's age, other times people think he's closer to Porchay so like 20/21. I don't know. In my stories I honestly just use what fits the storyline better

we know he became somewhat famous on social media for his music, but we don't know how famous. He's famous enough to have some fans there at the school thing and know about him, like Chay, but there's no fanclub present or anything

Khun claims he raised him, just like he raised Kinn

Khun says Kim is "nosy", "the nosiest", even though he admits he gets it from him

Kim has been investigating things that concern the family for a while

Kim has no trouble shooting at his cousin Vegas. Had he aimed better, Kim could have killed Vegas at the warehouse. So we can assume he hates his cousin as much as Khun does

Korn does not trust Kim. When Kim "visits" all of a sudden, Korn immediately checks his drawers.

Kim was the only brother who seemed unaffected by his father's (pretend) death. He was there for Khun, but he did not seem very sad.

Kinn mentions that he feels like he has no younger brother because he never sees him.

By Tankhun's reaction he doesn't get to see Kim either

Kim is still the one to remind Kinn of what will be coming his way when Korn fakes his death

There is that one look between Chan and Kim, that no one knows how to interpret

Kim is rude to the guards, like Big.

Kim can be friendly, like to the university guy or the guy at the studio.

Kim is impulsive. When he kissed Chay, he couldn't help it.

Kim wants to be a hard-ass and often is, but he's a sucker when in love. The fact alone that he wanted to throw Chay out of the studio, but then couldn't do it and listened to the song, at their first meeting says it all.

Kim is violent and might even enjoy violence. He shot at Vegas, he killed at Yok's to protect Porchay while playing with his prey and he punched the guy who wanted to give Chay drugs and scared the other so much, he simply sat back down

Kim can open up. That video that he sent Chay? That's HUGE. That's laying yourself bare. That's not something someone emotionally stunted can do

Kim lets himself be vulnerable in the safety of his own house when alone. I mean, he cried when he looked at the polaroids

Kim must have actually gone on REAL dates with Porchay, going by the polaroids and the movie tickets. We didn't get to see them, but there was more

Kim cuddles. That guy wouldn't have ended up on that sofa with Chay otherwise

Jeff broke down in tears while shooting because he felt so bad for Kim, because he is in so much pain and so desperately lonely and has to break his own heart. So we know, Kim is in pain.

Going by the song he wrote for Porchay, that also applies (maybe because Jeff wrote the song, but he knows Kim best). Kim was lonely and in pain, with "bruises and wounds" and Porchay just made everything better for him.

Kim cares about his brothers. he investigates Porsche simply because he worries about Kinn. No other reason. Big pointed out "a lot has been happening to Khun Kinn lately", so Kim is protective of his big brother(s), even though he rarely sees them (because of their father?)

Kim never told Porchay he doesn't love him back. He said "I'm sorry".
