SATURN AND AUTHORITY
just observation on authority in the natal chart -- there is a lot more that goes into authority, but i've broken it down to just two simple components of what i've noticed in the birth charts of people who are in positions of authority and leadership a lot (who like it and dislike it!)
saturn is always broadly known as the planet of “authority”, of “discipline”, of “structure” ; mars is known as the planet of "ambition", of "action", and depending on where, "leadership" — and more often than not, a lot of people want to give control to others and pass responsibility to other and not everyone wants to take the wheel! it can be a very brave and courageous thing to allow others to put trust in you and to put that same trust in yourself! saturn shows where we easily take responsibility (and also avoid it) and mars shows how we lead others through our own motivations.
another factor into the idea of authority is control, and i think pluto, the moon, and certain positions of the asteroid ceres show that more too just as saturn and mars does. but for now i'm just focusing on saturn and mars.
saturn in an angular house or conjuncting/oppose a prominent angle (asc, dsc, ic, mc) makes one be perceived as a leader, as an authority. especially mutable signs on these angles as they are perceived as able to listen better, able to be more flexible, and potentially better communicators for this reason. someone with saturn in these angles might also find that they can be "mentoring" or "parental" to their partners. saturn in the 10th or 7th seems to be more "tough love" to their partners and people close to them: they are the ones who become authority out of being perceived as one. they accept the perceived role of authority and flourish in it. i've also noticed people with saturn in the 1st or 4th house, tend to be way more "nurturing" and even "soft" with their discipline and way of acting out authority. this can be translated platonically, caregivers, age regressor caregivers, business/working, coworkers (especially with a cardinal 6th), romantically, familial-wise.
mars in an angular house or conjuncting/oppose a prominent angle (asc, dsc, ic, mc) makes one accepting on authority. i've noticed, mars in the 1st or 10th house, makes someone who more enjoys managing and being a leader: whilst i've noticed mars in the 7th or 4th house, makes someone who manages and leads often out of a fear. it manifests a lot that way, especially when the mars is in a cardinal sign: a lot of pain usually can come from these people when they feel they need to be a leader for obligatory reasons or from being forced into this role, or fear of losing the respect/love of others. while the 1st and 10th house mars, do it from an internalized fear of failure and acceptance of they're skills. yet, the same pattern i have seen is mars in any of these angles/angular houses, makes people who are "doers", they try their best to lead sincerely and honestly, no matter the intention or motivation.
quick example
i know someone with a sagittarius dsc, saturn conjunct dsc and uranus conjunct the dsc and mars in gemini conjunct asc = they are CONSTANTLY put in positions of authority --> 7th house is the other, and with saturn there: they are perceived as the boss, the fixer, even in relationships. in small and "serious" situations, they are the one looked towards for leadership and responsibility. yet for a while, they would doubt himself and become fixed in this idea of failure materially (taurus stellium in 12th house), and it would shy them away from initiating ideas of authority out of their fear. but the more they faced their fears of failure and began to apply themselves and accept more positions of authority, they sees themselves (1st house) as a qualified leader and someone who can lead groups of people and great at management. they even have a lot of fun with it. (mars in gemini) due to their saturn/7th house being in sagittarius, they take a stoic (philosophical) view of leadership, and they apply their philosophies in their practice and dealings with people, focusing on direct communication (often a bit too direct), structure, and flexibility for themselves and others while being able to put their boundaries down firmly. they step up to the plate of responsibility and action innately (mars). funnily enough, played a bunch of football manager as a kid and teen, realizing they loved to manage things (moon in the 4th, 28 degrees leo right on sign and house cusp of 5th house/virgo).
i also know someone who has saturn in the 4th house (pisces) and mars in capricorn (2nd house) --> they are someone who often doesn't want to be in positions of control, as they normally feel as if people are taking much from them. they can even find it draining constantly having to be the leader, often saying they’d like someone else to do it for them. but, they also are people who are very ambitious (mars in capricorn), and tend to attempt to get what they want in a stiff-arm/steam-rolling manner. often, the person places themselves in a position of authority to get what they want as they normally see they have no choice with the people around them. people with saturn in the 4th house often do this to people they are close to, and not always in any concious way of being too controlling or too micromanaging or manipulative, but again, from a fear of losing respect or the people they love and feeling obligated (maybe put in this position as a kid with a large family/sick family --> check moon too). it's often a display of care because this person believed they knew what was best for the other person, and was often too hard on themselves (saturn in pisces, and huge stellium in capricorn).
these are two examples of just ways i've noticed these saturn and mars in angular houses/angles can manifest. i use mainly placidus and whole sign housing and i ALWAYS use the sidereal zodiac. preferrably fagan-bradley/allen zodiac.

composite charts
some quick and random notes about composite charts since i’ve been doing a lot of synastry-composite readings recently.
the composite chart, davison charts, any kind of combined chart, is the Platonic idea of the “dia-logos”, or Lacan’s idea of “the Big Other”. you can think of these combined charts as showing the intellectual-emotional kin that is created by you and another person. this is the invisible “Other” that lingers around you both, and is activated through speech, physicalness, really anything you both do together.
- saturn trines or sextiles or conjuncts, adds stability consensually. easy moderation, easy discipline, easy structure. set structure. “consensually” as in, both people make a conscious decision and choices for structure.
- saturn squares, opposes, quincunx, adds stability after learning a lot of lessons. risky people and will need to learn. there can be a hard time learning to moderate. no-set structure with identity. makes more mistakes than an easier aspect, so again, stability come over time through failures/mistakes.
- saturn is relationship karma. shows where the couple has each other’s back, where the couple succeeds. where the couple fails and falls short.
- venus and moon: where the couple finds romance, love, pleasure, comfort, security --> 5th and 7th house.
- venus square/conj/opp moon --> this is a relationship that gets DEEP quickly, fast, and skyrockets to the next level.
- 6th/8th house and moon: how your day-to-day with each other is, how you share physical space, eating habits, night and daytime routines, hygiene together, shopping lists and other lists, a lot of space, things you need to do together
-mars: the  energy your relationship has: is it explosive, is it slow, is it hard for you both to adapt to change together --> do you both quarrel, are you both slow to anger. mars in 2nd/taurus will have you both taking your sweet time together, and perhaps you both have strict boundaries about what is yours and what is theirs so no arguments can happen over posessions.... mars in 8th: arguing about money.
- jupiter and mercury adds friendship, forgiving, unconditional aspect. friends first, lovers later. family first, lovers later. strong foundation of friendship first. everyone expects friends and family to stay first, which is what mercury and jupiter gives. the bond. (so does saturn, but more of a sense of responsibility to someone.) - mercury is a bond by camaraderie, jupiter is a bond unconditional generosity, and saturn is a bond by responsibility (parental almost). loosely.
- 4th house composite, 4th house ruler, planets in 4th house --> home element, retreating together. always wanting to be alone, wanting to just do things with the two of you and some family. keeps the circle small.
- uranus in a composite shows unconventionality --> doesn't necessarily mean quick break ups or quick hookups (though it can) but can mean that the relationship is not traditional, in some taboo, some sort of oddity/rarity --> relationship meant to rebel/age differances/long distance. similar to pluto. relationship is exciting. where the couple experiences the most change.
- neptune in a composite shows all idealization ... neptune conj mars --> sexual idealization, moon conj neptune --> emotional idealization... can be a good thing because this romanticizes the relationship and keeps everyone in phases of romance, this just gets tested during hard times. everyone projects onto everyone, and everyone has an idealized version of themselves and others, yet when there is a hard neptune contact, neptune takes it to an extreme. both people tries to be the ideal, and doesnt necessarily fail, it can bring people to try to be their best self for the other, which can be selfless. romance and spiritual. to reach the "Ideal" is the neoplatonic/stoic understanding of reaching Unity, reaching Perfection: just as fractalic nature is perfect and unity, neptune shows this same reach.
- pluto on an angle, people get jealous, intense couple, something about the relationship that makes people shocked.
- most planets below horizon --> private, lowkey, invisible relationship - most planets above horizon --> public, highkey, visible relationship
- chiron in the 10th --> damaging of public image, chiron shows damage to the relationshp. --> chiron in the 4th: damaging of familial image, traditions, struggle to make tradition, struggle to make foundations with each other. --> chiron in the 1st: damaging of each other’s ego. losing oneself in each other, losing individual identity and unified identity.
- north node in 2nd --> accumulate resources, get a house together, invest, etc. where the north node shows what they go out in the world to do together. ---> in the 4th house has similarities, settling down together, real estate and houses, setting up legacies and traditions, learning how to nurture each other and themselves. north node in the 12th --> SACRIFICE, the idea of sacrifice comes up because the relationship you must learn to uncondtiionally love each other, learn what sacrifices are necessary to keep each other if that is what both people want. compromise, and you will most likely feel each other as soul mates or you will truly self-realize through each other. catalyst for each other’s spiritual growth, ltierally and metaphorically. the relationship launches you both into each other’s psyche.
- south node heavy --> relationship that you are coming back to again. planets and points making hard aspect to south node, and house placements, show the repeated events.
- planets to north and south node --> yes, this is a relationship from the past that you either are going to have to stick through to see the rewards, or itll be very difficult to continue to go through. sextiles/trines/squares to jupiter, saturn, and sun can really ease these difficult placements.

Hi! So I wrote to you a while back, it was about my Saturn in the 6th house if you remember. Well, since then, a lot has happened. Long story short, I reconnected with this guy, with whom I had a past. It wasn’t a relationship, more of a friendship but with romantic undertones. I knew from the start that this person was somehow different from the rest I’ve met, simply because we are too perfect for each other. Sometimes I looked at him and couldn’t believe that we match in so so so many ways. An unexplainable bond connects us. But we are in separation now. It might sound silly, but is there a chance he is my twin flame? And if so, when will he set his intentions clear?
Thank you so much!❤️
of course i remember you, honeydew! 🌸
it's interesting to hear you've had a re-encounter with this person: sounds like you and them might have some hard aspects to your nodes, or strong glue-like saturn placements. maybe the astrological weather brought them back around. i drew two cards, ace of swords and ace of coins. generally, in a yes or no reading, aces are a VERY strong indication of yes. you say you're in separation now, but seems kind of like when he does come back, the chances of it being a lot better/more healthier/new beginnings kind of thing is very high. which is a step in the right direction to you and him settling on a healthy and more longterm relatonship (if that's what you both want).
and even if they are not your “twin flame” (i have a bit of a different/complicated understanding of soulmates and twinflames but i understand your context), astrologically there's obviously a karmic-saturnian connection that makes this person important in your life. we can confirm this astrologically, check if his ascendant/descendant/sun/moon/venus makes a square/conjunct/oppose to your south or noth node and vice versa. or check if his ascendant/descendant/sun/moon/venus makes a square/conjunct/oppose to your saturn, pluto, neptune and vice versa. these are kind of a 'quick scan' way to see if there's karmic/astral connection. for more indepth, check for hard aspects to yours or his vertex and asteroid moira.
i hope this helped a bit and i was clear. if not you can always message me or send another ask! 🙂

the heliocentric chart is the chart of your Essence. it is the chart of your Being, while the geocentric chart is of your Becoming: becoming-helio, becoming-sun, becoming-whole. as the Earth is frozen (matter is stilled spirit, actualize), as the Sun is fluid (spirit is moving, potential). Earth represents a part of us, the Sun represents the whole of us.
with Source — as our Sun is a material manifestation of the Absolute, a physical-mirrored reflection of the Absolute — there is no Earthly concerns (no houses, no four angles), no Moon (no tribal-consciousness [familial], no memories [past]), there is no “Sun” (no goals or direction [future]). as you see there seems more to be just an “Is”, just the Core Essence of you.
“For, although he told us, ‘This realm is modeled on the imperishable realm,’           He didn't teach us about the latter.”All of a sudden, while I was contemplating these things,          Behold! The heavens opened and the whole of creation shone with a light from above,           And the world quaked! I was afraid, yet          Behold!A little child appeared before me in the light.           I continued looking at him as he became an old man                       And then he changed again, becoming like a young man. I didn't understand what I was seeing,           But the one likeness had several forms in the light,           And these likenesses appeared each through the other           And the vision had three forms.“ (The Apocryphon of John Translated by Stevan Davies)
going through each sphere of the heavens: each planet there is a story of Unity: from the perceived individuation, becoming particularized, to the communal, being universal. the zodiac is a journey to the WHOLE. the houses are a journey to the WHOLE.

Okay! Hi, nice to meet you again. Huh, I guess to start off with, I’m also in college, and I’m a Cancer Rising. My sun is in the 8th by whole signs in tropical astrology. I’m curious, what is your journey into astrology? Since again, I don’t see people talk about Lilly a lot. I’m into tarot too, but I stalk tarot blogs rather than do them haha
hello! x ooh another 8th houser, i have moon in 8th! i’ve been doing astrology //seriously// for about a decade. it all started because i was born on february 29th (tropical pisces, sidereal aquarius), and googling my birthday sparked my whole interest in astrology. after learning about sun signs and decanates of sun signs, it was a rabbit hole from there. it seemed natural to me and it sparked a long long journey of obsessive learning and very difficult self-study. i prefer to read and i learn better reading things, so for years i’ve spent reading a whole lot of books on different branches of astrology and just spent my time immediately putting it into practice! it started with evolutionary astrology then got into traditional astrology then i got deeper into hellenistic astrology and then jyotisha, and learning about jyotisha astrology blew my mind!
so i ended up researching into sidereal and the history and learned about a lot of the ancient things and found a man called cyril fagan and jim eschelman and kenneth bowser, and spent a lot of time (before) arguing on forums for sidereal and other ancient babylonian/egyptian methods... but soon stopped doing that, for as steiner says, the one who can ‘see into higher worlds’ has an inner world of Devotion, not of Critique... yet still, i mainly use a lot of western and jyotish techniques with mainly sidereal zodiac, campanus, equal and placidus housings i like to use. and i do a lot of uranian/symmetrical astrology... and now i’m a newly-finally professional astrology with a new online shop trying to make it out here in the cosmological astrological frenzied world. just really spending a long time experimenting and attempting to explore as many facets of astrology that this current incarnation will allow me. and fortunately for me, it has been lots and luckily a lot of time to make trial and error (and still forever learning, south node in 9th x) )
but the astrology i practice now, or that in theory that i practice, is probably what people would list under the ‘integral’ category, meaning i’m trying to reintegrate astrology as self-encompassing practice as it once was. astrology is a product of gnosis/knowledge, and the astrology being done today is a 21st century manifestation of this gnosis. still as timeless and self-encompassing i think we’re on a forefront of a post-aperspectival that gebser mentions, and astrology can be pushed into the new medium. recognizing astrology as the demiurge’s personal clock (which i defintiely soon will be making a cool post about) will allow us all to be able to reveal astrology, once again, for the entity that it is (in a good way). a lot of my now understandings and theories of astrolgoy comes from reading a lot of source texts, and in general i’m interesting in aurobindo/coomaraswamy/valerian/wilbur/spengler/gebser/steiner integral type of theories, jainism, judeo-egyptian-baha’i, gnosticism, neoplatonism, hermeticim, Alchemy (Al-Kemet..) etc etc i’m in the process of writing a few articles for my website and also trying to make... what i’ll call an Astrology Canon, of really important texts that is pivotal to astrology (in all branches, not just the western branch) but i’m definitely not the Harold Bloom of astrology... but, if you want you can PM me and i’ll give you a cool list of books. astrology forces us to ‘gnothi sauton’ ... ‘know yourself’.

Hello, I was curious if I can ask you about astrology things since you know about William Lilly (which I don't see often on tumblr). I practice or am studying traditional astrology right now since I can only study one type of astrology at a time and traditional astrology is already confusing af @_@ If not, it's fine. It was cool to find you. I'm not trying to be stuck up about other astrologies but someone who studies traditional inspired me to get back into this so YAY rip me nice to me you :)
hey there! sorry for the late reply, some personal things took me away from tumblr for a bit! (and i’m sorry to everyone who i didn’t get to respond to! i’ll try to get back to everyone)
you can most definitely ask me questions about traditional astrology rn — go ahead and shoot me a PM and we can talk about whatever you’d like :)

Hii, can I have a tarot card reading? (Tropical) Gemini Sun, Sagittarius moon, Capricorn rising, Gemini venus, Cancer mars, Cancer mercury. I wanted to ask about love. I'm curious if I'll be meeting someone soon?
hey darling x i got a lot of nice energy for you! drew the Queen of Wands which represents you as someone passionate and creative and very sensual too! the moon -- which right there represents something karmic, things from the past/past life will come back to you -- and telling you to trust the feeling you get when you meet this person because it will be a veryyy strong feeling, like youll know it. five of coins shows there was some wrong decision, or maybe the wrong person recently, but the star tells me theres the hope and p much confirms for me that there will be someone coming to you soon x i hope this helps a lot and if you want something more in detail please lmk!
