The Phoenix

From a heart left in the ashes

The gentle glow of kindness

And a certain tenderness

Gives rise

To the rekindling of the embers

Fed by the quiet affection of another

As it gives rise to a fiery inferno of passionate love

Returning in colour it intensifies!

Born anew in the world

Of a heart on the mend

Poetry - Trees

Trees are tall but sometimes small

The leaves change colour when it’s fall

In winter there are few leaves left,

In spring and summer they look their best

They communicate beneath the ground

Talking to each other when no one’s around

Some people love to hug a tree

I think those people include me

I wonder if the tree would hug back

Because if not that’s kind of slack

That’s the end of my nature rap

Phones, phones, they’re everywhere!

In our hands while we stare

On tables and places we’re unaware

While with a phone we’re barely there

In a world of our own making,

Ignoring surroundings like the muffins baking

This welcome distraction is very fun

We just need to remember to get some sun

Eyes, eyes, who can deny

That some are as blue as the sea or the sky

Some have eyes as green as a forest,

Some have eyes as brown as a chocolate

Hazel eyes are a beautiful combination 

No colour is an abomination 

Every colour has its perks

But most important is that they work

For seeing is a wonderful gift

One that surely will uplift

Life in colour with all its beauty

It’s so much better than a movie

Which shoes should I choose?

The thongs, runners or high heels?

If I choose the thongs,

I’ll fit in with the summer songs

If I choose the running shoes,

My feet will never get the blues

If I choose the high heels though

I’ll get bunions and walk slow

Go and fly a kite, they say

But what if it will fly away?

No matter, unless lightning strikes

If that happens, the kite ignites

Sparks will fly and the kite will fall

Sadly the kite will be no more

But even if it’s “goodnight, kite”

You can always ride a bike

So this is the day

What more can I say?

Go outside and play!

The sun is shining,

It’s so inviting,

But if you get sunburnt

It’s a lesson well learned

It’s not raining yet

So you won’t get wet

You’ll probably just sweat

In the heat of the daytime

You’ll enjoy some playtime

Because when the day is over

The weather gets colder

You’ll surely miss
