The first line up of fae! Some extra rambles under the cut:

Had to keep these guys together of course, they're all spring-waking and fall-sleeping fae. Usually the first thing they do when they wake up is find each other again, they pretty much spend all their seasons together.

Wild Cherry likes exploring, adventuring, racing and discovering new hide-outs. They've out-flied every other fae in the waking seasons, their current goal is to wake up early enough to spend a few days in the Winter - to challenge their fastest fae to a race to prove they're the fastest out of anyone.

Sycamore loves inventing and building, they make gear and knick-knacks for everyone. Fae from all over know to seek them out for any assistance building something, they built Rose's hammer for instance! Most fae without wings can't fly, but the Sycamore's helicopter seeds have the unique ability to grant him limited flight!

English Rose loves dresses, gowns, flower crowns, everything fashion-related in the fae world - they love celebrations and usually go a bit overboard decorating - but being extra is a good thing for fae. They have a bit of a temper, but are exceptionally generous and often willing to lend a hand.

Jack O' Lantern likes exploring too, and normally digs around animals burrows and fallen logs to find things Cherry overlooks in the sky. They are wingless but are able to glide on the wind (like spores) and have fashioned some rose thorns to his gloves to climb easily. He often goes off on his own, but always comes back around to hang with the group.

All four of them are well known, well respected Fae, but have a bit of a reputation of getting into trouble. They have a strong sense of morals and will not back down from a fight - if a fairy decides to stir up trouble these four will usually have something to say about it.

(Also shout out to the person who recognised the exact bug species of Sonic's wings like immediately when I posted the wip ur a real one jkhdfgdgf)

SONIC VERGLAS AU: LORE UPDATE

Holders of the Sol Emeralds

There will come a time that Blaze realizes keeping all seven Sol Emeralds together at all times is no longer viable. Blaze doesn't like talking about the threat that made her come to this conclusion - instead, she tells everyone that she simply realized it wasn't smart to risk bad actors getting all seven at once.

Or... in the case of the Plant Kingdom and the Nightseer Clan, she claims it's a gesture of alliance and goodwill.

Blaze hates to lie, but she'll do what she must for the good of her world.

ELEMENTS OF THE SEVEN SOL EMERALDS

RED: Fire

YELLOW: Electricity

WHITE: Light

GREEN: Nature

CYAN: Ice

BLUE: Water

PURPLE: Darkness

Although element manipulators and kinesis users are uncommon, each one will always be the most compatible with the Emerald that corresponds to their elemental power. All Elemental powers stem from the seven elements, with subcategories under each one. For example, healing is a subcategory of light.

The most powerful element users have -kinesis abilities (pyrokinesis, cryokinesis, hydrokinesis, umbrakinesis, etc.), as they are able to both summon and manipulate their element. Some of the most well-known individuals are Blaze (pyrokinesis), Vendetta (cryokinesis), and Marine (hydrokinesis).

Element Manipulators are still capable of being powerful in their own right, but their element must be present for their power to work.

For those who use subcategories of the Elements, they're not always able to use their Element in its pure form, and vice versa. It all depends on the individual. It's uncertain whether one can be trained to use - or not use - powers in the subcategories.

DISTRIBUTION OF THE SOL EMERALDS

RED: Held by Blaze. This Emerald has a long history of being held by the royal family, no matter what happens. It's rarely seen with anyone else. Probably the most well-guarded Sol Emerald.

YELLOW: Being temporarily held by Vendetta, upon request by Blaze. They haven't found a trustworthy holder for this Emerald yet, but Blaze doesn't like holding onto too many anymore. Very well-guarded. It does briefly fall into the hands of someone from the Chaos Dimension, in hopes of preventing a disaster by removing one Emerald from the equation...

WHITE: Being temporarily held by Blaze. She hasn't found a trustworthy holder for this Emerald yet. (cough, a character doesn't exist yet lol) Naturally very well-guarded.

GREEN: Held by the Plant Kingdom. Usually in the individual possession of a member of Seedrian royalty, or their strongest warriors. Although it's guarded by the whole kingdom, being in the hands of so many is a risk in itself.

CYAN: Held by Vendetta, permanently. Blaze was initially hesitant to hand it over to V, but she is the only known cryokinesis user... and Blaze knows V can be trusted with it, if not much else. It's guarded fiercely. She'll hold it for eternity, if possible. This Emerald, along with the red Emerald, are the hardest to separate from their holders.

BLUE: Held by Marine. Initially, Blaze was going to entrust it to the neighboring Aqua Kingdom - but the raccoon begged and nagged until she gave in. Thankfully, Marine's usually on the open seas - giving this Emerald some extra protection. Marine loves using this Emerald to boost her now fully-fledged hydrokinesis abilities, and to power her water-based inventions. But she doesn't seem to take the Emerald's power all that seriously and if found, it's likely the easiest to steal.

PURPLE: Stolen and held by Navette. It was initially entrusted to the Nightseer Clan, but Navette decided to make it her own. The Clan hasn't come after it for unknown reasons. Not very well guarded, as Navette isn't actually that strong.

Companion piece to the Verglas AU's first story, Permafrost Core, which I just finished writing!! It's a prequel meant to give a biiit more context for Permafrost Heart, although I still need to rewrite that fic lol.

Rita does survive this attack, long enough to seal V away with Mayra's help. The two decide not to document Vendetta's existence in the Sol Empire's archives, which is part of the reason Blaze is caught off guard when Eggman Nega and Navette break into the castle's underground levels to bust her out many years later.

Unfortunately (for Rita), she succumbed to her injuries sometime after Vendetta was successfully put into cryostasis & the room was sealed off.

But how did Eggman Nega know? Well, he'd learned that for every powerful force in one dimension, an equal one must exist in another. At the time, the "Shadow variant" was still unaccounted for in the Sol Dimension. So, he took it upon himself to find the variant and free them, in hopes of using their power for his own schemes.

That's where this all leads into Permafrost Heart, the main story.
