“Sneak peek” is the correct spelling, for when you are getting a special look at something. “Sneak peak” just makes me imagine a tiptoeing mountain.

“The Dispensary”
Prismacolor colored pencil on paper, 16.25x22”
My dad has a large collection of Pez dispensers from childhood, and now he is a food broker who sells Pez! Here is a combination of old and new dispensers from both of our collections. NFS- he really wants to keep this one.

“The Cottingley Fairies Experience,” Digital
In graphic design, I was assigned to make a poster about anything inspired by anything. My project partner decided on the story of the Cottingley Fairies (and made a great separate project in the form of a book cover).
In 1917, two English girls photographed themselves with paper cutouts of fairies. The world, even Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, believed the fairies were real. I combined this story with the psychedelic rock aesthetic of fifty years later for the ultimate reunion tour poster!

It’s been a month now since Noodle passed away. Today would have been ten years since I brought him home. Immediately after he and Phineas died, the final dance scene from Stan & Ollie kept playing in my mind. My guys were a dynamic duo just like Laurel and Hardy, with Phineas even having the mustache.

My cousin drew this weird little guy she named “The Go” when she was about six. Neither of us has forgotten, so all these years later, I drew her my version for her nineteenth birthday card.

“Bone Dry”
Watercolor and graphite on hot pressed paper, 10x14.5”
For this assignment I could paint anything I wanted on a smallish piece of hot pressed watercolor paper. This paper absorbs very quickly so it’s not as easy to blend colors, but I could achieve very smooth lines and get my colors darker sooner. I basically did a full shaded drawing in pencil before painting too, which helped me get a lot of fine details in. I am so happy with how this came out! I’ll definitely pursue this technique again for when I want to achieve this level of realism.

Another graphic design assignment, this time I had to make my own album cover incorporating a self portrait! I drew my cartoon self in Procreate, photographed some of my brushes, and did the rest in Photoshop. If this were a real album, what do you think I’d sing about or what songs would I cover?

“Michele Ma Belle”
Soft pastel on black paper, 18x24”
I surprised my mom for her birthday yesterday with this one! I combined a recent photo of my parents dancing at a wedding with a photo of them at their own wedding. I am so grateful to have their love and support, they have always been my biggest fans.

Untitled watercolor, 19x27”
The assignment: paint a night scene on a full sheet of watercolor paper. The biggest challenges: preserving the yellow glow without making it look like yellow snow, and layering my dark colors so they aren’t totally opaque. I figured I had better share this one before winter is officially over!

A different kind of color wheel challenge! I’m taking a graphic design class and we made color wheels in photoshop. I created mine out of photos I’ve taken over the years with prominent colors. For some of them, I bumped up the colors to make them even bolder.
