Turns out a soldering iron is a great finishing tool for 3D prints, as long as you can put the seam somewhere relatively hidden. I print my crochet hooks in two pieces for quality reasons (the shape is really tough for a 3D printer to handle with good print quality *and* no supports; I don’t like supports on stuff made to use with hands, it’s hard to completely get rid of the roughness without tons of sanding). It took a lot of trial and error but hiding the join where there’s already a somewhat natural seam is working out pretty well!

Spent all week teaching myself CAD software so I could design my own dragon fainting couches, 10/10 would recommend as a solid use of time, materials, and brain power 😂

One of my dragons ended up at a bookstore, so I thought he needed a little stand to be comfy in his new home. But it’s a romance bookstore so it couldn’t be JUST a stand…which means I made a fainting couch for a dragon 😂. And then my husband suggested that I do a clinch cover and I got probably the funniest picture I’ve ever made. Enjoy!

I realized I forgot to post the original tiny cat look alike; we started with one who looks like Princess Mochi, undisputed ruler of cuteness at Measured and Slow HQ and head box inspector. She did not approve of her tiny version but I think their lil mustaches are pretty cute lol

Made another mini-cat! This time is Fig the Familiar, due to popular request (my 5 yr old constantly asking 😂). He got pretty sick of my shenanigans pretty quickly lmao

Forgot to post these! The ones with more than 1 color take soooo long to print that they’re not practical to stock in the shop but I think these ones still turned out really pretty 😍. Also they’re huge - that’s a nearly full skein of bernat blanket in there!

This one turned out so cool. It looks like he’s hoarding the blanket I’m working on 😁

They’re finally here! These are my first ever completely me-designed 3D project; I broke my favorite crochet hook over the holiday and didn’t really like any of the replacements I could find, so I set out to make my own. I have RA and crochet for my job, so I have to be able to hold the hook comfortably for long periods, and why not make it super cute while I was at it 😁. So here they are: Ice Cream Crochet Hooks!!

They require a lot of finishing so I gotta streamline that somehow BUT the first 3 sizes are tested and ready to go! Have to do lots of gluing and sanding but I think Wednesday for the first drop. Sizes will be E, G, and H, in these colors; I use those ones the most so that’s what I started with. Hoping to have a bunch of sizes soon though, and I’m working on a matching yarn bowl ☺️

Every year for their birthday I let my kids pick whatever they want for me to make, no limits. This year my oldest is turning 7 and asked for a new rainbow sweater to replace the one he outgrew, and also that his bestie Bubbles the (Stuffed) Robot have his own matching sweater. I couldn’t find buttons I liked in the right size, so I designed and 3D printed some, which turned out to be perfect because then I could also print tiny versions for the little sweater.
So here is Bubbles modeling his brand-new sweater, and the big kid version which will be gifted tomorrow ☺️.
(ETA the very happy birthday kid 🥰)

Ice cream crochet hooks final version! I got it to print the size on the side which I’m very happy with, and it’s super comfy. Going to focus on getting a bunch done to list next week; they’ll be sizes E (sherbet), G (bubblegum), and H (mint) to start, and then hopefully more sizes/flavors soon!

I’m working on learning to design my own stuff on the 3D printer and my first project is ice cream cone ergonomic crochet hooks! Each size will be a different flavor of ice cream (this one is an H which is mint ☺️) and I finally got it to print the size/mm measurement also. I’m very excited 😁
