My Chemical Romance knows exactly what they’re doing. We don’t, but they do.

my chemical romance is the funniest and weirdest band ever. They’re all fucking losers who would genuinely rather play dnd than hook up with groupies. The singer used to work at Cartoon Network. The bassist is on the fbi watchlist for crimes against disney. One guitarist is a guitar god but he also used to keep a little action figure of spiderman in his pocket all the time, the other is like a little lap dog of a man, but he’s also on the fbi watchlist for death threats against a us president. They refused to be on the twilight soundtrack, one of the most popular franchises at the time but then they preformed on yo gabba gabba and re-recorded one of their songs in simlish.

What Native people say about the use of sage: you can use sage, but you cannot smudge as nothing you are doing (waving sage around) is actually smudging. Smudging is a ceremony and you are, we promise, not smudging. Please buy sage from either us, or someone who sources the sage from us. White sage may not be considered endangered by the US government but corperate sourcing is making it difficult for us to source sage for our own religious purposes. Let alone to sell it.

What white people hear: never use sage ever, don’t ever buy it, don’t own it, don’t even look at it.

Look, y’all. There’s a couple of facets to my talk today.

1) Yes! You can buy sage! You really, truly can! Buy it from either native sellers (go to a powwow! Eat our food, buy our stuff, watch some dancing!) Or buy it from a seller who sources the sage from native people. Pick one. And no, buying it from 5 Below doesn’t count.

2) you CANNOT smudge. This isn’t just you “shouldn’t”— this is a YOU ARE INCAPABLE OF SMUDGING. Waving a sage stick around your doorways IS NOT SMUDGING. It is smoke clensing. Smudging, depending on the tradition and tribe, could easily have dancing and drums involved. You, as a white person, do not have the cultural BACKGROUND to even know how it works. At all. Period.

3) please, for FUCKS SAKE, stop making posts here on tumblr where you tell other white people about cultural appropriation and what they can and cannot do. Please stop, your license has been revoked because none of you bother to get the facts right. We native people are FULLY CAPABLE OF DOING IT OURSELVES. Consider instead: a) reblogging our posts where we talk about it! We’re here! We have made posts!! b) Making a post that states what we said and then LINKS BACK TO US. Screenshot with a link if you must. Stop centering your own voices in these conversations. You are already centered in everything, stop centering yourselves in a native space.

I’m tired of this nonsense, y’all.

Magical Spring Cleaning Tips

Hello everyone! Spring is here, so it’s time to shake the dust and stagnant energy off of ourselves, and prepare for the new season coming up. I’m here to bring you some tips on how to clean your house the witchy way. I’ve also added some links to other Tumblr blogs who have posts about it!

Step 1: Open the windows

Let some fresh air in and open the window for all the negative and stagnant energy to move out, it will allow the energy to flow and make the cleaning easier. Move around the room clockwise and demand the energies to get out.

Pro tip: Start cleaning from the top downwards, from the furthest point of the room to the nearest main door. Once the target area or room is clean, you can say a protection/blessing, chant, cleanse, visualize, play some music, spray, ring bells, burn incense and don’t forget to put your wards up again!

Step 2: Have a plan

Take your time to think this through, come up with a detailed plan (if you can) on how you want to do your spring cleaning. Is it a few hours every day? Every day for a week? Every weekend? Long term project? How detailed do you want the cleaning to be? It’s totally up to you and yes, it can get overwhelming. If you want to do a quick refresh or move furniture, it’s your choice. Just make sure you know what you’re doing and that your intention is clear.

Step 3: Simmer pot (optional)

I like to set up a big pot with my herbs of choice, with the intention of cleansing, purifying, protecting the house or creating a welcoming environment. I will stir it clockwise until it boils, whilst focusing on my intent, turn it down to a simmer and then start cleaning. The house will smell amazing and such potion can be used for other practices too! Here's an amazing recipe from @androgynouswitch

Step 4: Cleaning products

Do a little research and decide what products you would like to use, you can make your own, use popular chemical cleaners or choose eco-friendly options. Keep in mind that some common chemicals have magical properties (vinegar, anyone?) and there’s no judgment here, just make sure you don’t mix harmful substances without looking into it, and keep the air flowing!

On the magical side, you can charge the cleaning products, visualize the negative energy in the room getting wiped or washed away. You can draw sigils as you wipe the surfaces, say a simple chant, add moon water to the cleaning solution.

Step 5: The actual cleaning

Get to work, start from one room, separate things into piles, decide what to keep, to donate and to throw away. When you go about cleaning, you can take your time and focus on the task, almost as if it was a form of meditation. You can thank the environment for sheltering you, your belongings for serving their purpose, yourself for the time and effort you’re putting into this. It will take as long as it needs to, and it’s ok.

Do not forget your garden, if you have one, or your balcony. And the thresholds, windows and doors.

Bonus step: Virtual decluttering

Consider taking time to tackle your virtual spaces too, your blog, social media, computer, phone, emails, payment subscriptions. Virtual clutter affects us just as much as the physical one does, as we spend a big chunk of our day online.

Look at your books, your grimoire, your ingredients. What needs to go? What should be carried onto the new season? What needs to be moved, restocked, fixed?

Step 6: Protection & Warding

You made it! We’re not quite done yet, but take some time to rest and celebrate, you have made it this far. Now it’s time to wash your windows, seal your doors, clean the floors, burn your favourite incense, update your wards and check your protection spells. Use your favourite methods to keep unwanted energies and entities outside of your space.

Step 7: Closing thoughts & Cleansing

Once everything is done, take a bath, a shower, wash your clothes, do what you need to do to make sure that the energy you have removed doesn’t linger on you. Take some time to walk around barefoot to ground yourself and reconnect with your home. Consider a ritual to bring positivity and good cozy energy back into your home, make yourself a nice meal and rest.

Poor teen witches out there

If you don’t have like, the room to do anything, or if you can’t go and get herbs or crystals or anything, I have some stuff that I do that could help you.

I have a place outside where I can burn things as long as no one is home. Utilize burning things not just for banishings or cursings, but for anything you think works. Remember, it’s YOUR craft. I use burning to activate my sigils (after writing them down first of course)

Speaking of sigils, use them. If you want to get into any type or magical thing but you don’t have money to just buy herbs in bulk or candles or crystals, make sigils. Not only are they free, they’re really easy to hide. If you draw one on yourself, just draw random swirls around it and say you’re just doodling. No one needs to know it’s a sigil. Put them anywhere. Charging them is free, too. I’ll be posting a “how to charge sigils” thingy on my IG, which I’ll bring over to here then.

And okay listen you don’t need all the crystals. In a weird way you can kinda make your own. Find a rock that feels nice in your hand, and put energy into it. Just because it’s not as pretty doesn’t mean they don’t have energy I mean- it’s a rock. It’s in the ground. They charge for years until you pick it up or find it.

Tea is also amazing and easy to hide, and I bet you your parents keeping you in the broom closet would get it for you because 9/10 times it’s healthier than coffee or energy drinks.

Another last thing that I wish I saw more posts on. Aura reading. That shits cool as hell and good for practicing reading other’s energy. It’s also obviously free. All this stuff is free and easy to hide.
