We know that SGM. Rodolfo Parra is a menace in disguise, but since he's more laid back and think first act second; my head keep thinking about him overwatch the new cadets for their forces.
It was Friday at Los Vaqueros base, on bright sun at 12. Colonel Alejandro Vargas were taking a break from his paperwork and walked out of his office to find his second in command. Or else he would forgot to eat. But he didn't find Rodolfo on his desk so he asked one of his Corporal where did his Sergeant Major went, and he said on the field with the new cadets.
That's odd, Alejandro thoughts. But he went to the field anyway. It's steaming hot and if Alejandro didn't come to break it off, he's scared that Rodolfo would force the new cadets to their limits. In this climate too? Alejandro could feel his sweat inside his blacks as he walked out of building.
Rodolfo Parra, on the other hand. Standing in the middle of the field, arms on back, his hood was up to cover his head slightly from the sun and makes him look less intimidating as Sergeant Major. Every cadets respect their Colonel, but some doubts their Sergeant Major.
Rodolfo eyebrows went up as he saw two of the cadet sat under the tree that was there for a reason. He walked to them after he let the others 18 new cadets run passed him. "What are you two doing here?"
Ryan and Miguel. Rodolfo remember the two as the troublesome, Corporal Gomez had warn him about it. Ryan shrugged and stands up, "taking a break, sir."
"Did I, tell you to take a break, cadet?" Rodolfo smile ever so slightly. Miguel yawns while keep sitting down.
"Get to the track."
Ryan was a bit intimidated by the firm tone. No, he never heard it, not this one. Even his gaze wasn't friendly like they used to.
"Am I not clear, cadet?"
Miguel standing up, keep being a brat. Ryan rolled his eyes in front of Rodolfo and that's the line.
"Everyone! Here! Now!" That's loud and new. Even some of the other cadets who were running started to feel anxious on what about to happen. The cadets stopped their tracks, standing straight in front of Rodolfo who took off his hood.
"How many laps are you supposed to do?"
"20, sir!"
Rodolfo turned his head to Ryan and Miguel who stand beside him, "how many have you guys do?"
Silence.
"I am not repeating myself, cadets." Rodolfo voice became more firm and intimidating. Miguel bump Ryan's shoulder, silently asked him to answer.
"T-twelve, sir.." Ryan said, quietly.
Rodolfo raised his eyebrows, "I can't hear you. Can anyone hear them?"
"No, sir."
"Twelve, sir!"
Rodolfo gaze became a stare, deathly one when he's ready to kill someone on his way. "Everyone take a three step back from your position." The group take three steps back, Rodolfo cocked his head. "Stand there."
Ryan and Miguel stands in front of others, Ryan started to sweat inside his uniform. So is everyone from the run and the heat.
"Here, you are a soldier! I don't care if your family is wealthy, you are the president children, someone's higher-up children, that don't matter. You are one group. Brothers in arms, so if one is rebel others will suffer the consequences because why?"
Silence.
Rodolfo shouted, "Why?!"
"We're brothers in arms!"
"Now everyone, squat! One! I didn't see all of you in unison! Again! One!"
Some of the cadets glaring at Ryan and Miguel who also doing the squats, some curse loud enough for the two troublesome to hear.
"Two! Not synchronized! One!"
"Sergeant Major Parra."
Rodolfo turned his head, smiling kindly in front of the Colonel while the cadets are in squats position. "Oh, Colonel Vargas. How do I owe you the pleasure?"
Alejandro raised his eyebrows, his eyes looked over the cadets who's grunting in pain. "It's lunch break, Sergeant Major." He said.
"Oh," Rodolfo blinked in surprise. "Apologize, I did not bring my watch." Rodolfo attention is back to the cadets, "two!" Rodolfo groans in annoyance loud enough for the new cadets to hear. "Embarrassing. Can't even do a simple unison squat." To this, Alejandro frowned deeply.
"Lunch break. Get back in the field at 0200, is that understood?" Alejandro said, taking over the command.
"Yes, sir!"
"Dismissed."
The cadets give salute to their higher-up, both Rodolfo and Alejandro replied them shortly and they went back inside the base. Alejandro looking at Rodolfo, "was that really necessary, Rudy?"
Rodolfo shrugged nonchalantly with a smile, "Gomez said they're pain in the ass. With this? I don't think they'll ever do it again."
Alejandro smile before chuckling lightly. "On that, I don't doubt you, Sergeant Major." He playfully bumps into Rodolfo's shoulder, "let's go, I'm hungry."
As they walked towards the base with playful bumps onto each other shoulder while talking about their new alliance with Task Force 141, Alejandro looked around the area before quickly kisses the corner of Rodolfo's lips. Which Rodolfo shoved him away in panic.
"We're in public, Alejo!"
Alejandro smirked, leaning closer. "It's not like they don't know about us?"
Rodolfo huffed but he's smiling big, offer his CO a quick kiss before Rodolfo pulled his hair back. Alejandro whimper slightly on the tug. "Keep that for later, commandant."
Alejandro smiles one sided, "aye sir."
"Was that supposed to be Soap's accent?"
They ended up walking to the cafeteria with laughter and more light-hearted feeling. If the only thing that could kill Alejandro is Alejandro, then Rodolfo is certainly be the one who prevents that. It works for Rodolfo too.
