People in whose image The First should have appeared at least once during Season 7:
Angel
Spike
Jesse
Jenny Calendar
Kendra
Allan Finch
Professor Worth
Harmony
Ben
Katrina
Tara
Halfrek
I know some of the actors wouldn't have agreed to come back (and I can hardly blame them for that), but honestly what is the point of having a Big Bad who can take the form of any dead person if you are not going to do something interesting with the concept and take advantage of the fact that your show is canonically full of dead people with unfinished business and strong ties to the surviving cast? Or if that Big Bad is not going to seize the opportunity to impersonate vampires that mean something to the protagonist (which we know the First can do, because she takes on the appearance of Drusilla in Lessons), or sow discord by impersonating the protagonist herself (the First appears as Buffy regularly, but only ever to Caleb or Spike or Buffy herself, and never trying to convince anyone she is Buffy)?
Why have an episode in which Willow confronts the fact she murdered somebody (and is terrified about forgetting the memory of somebody she loved who died), and not remind the audience that Giles also murdered somebody and -- to all outward appearance --seems to have forgotten about somebody he loved who died? Why tie any of this to a suddenly villainous Amy Madison, when the First Evil is right there?
Why does the show spend so much time talking about Andrew Wells and his guilt over murdering Jonathan without once remembering that both Andrew and Jonathan were already complict in a murder? Why have all the focus on the Slayer Line and the Potentials and Buffy's attempts to keep them all alive and not even so much as mention Kendra?
Why does Faith remember the Mayor, and talk about trying to follow in Buffy's footsteps but getting people hurt, and not seem to remember the men she spent years in jail for killing? Why doesn't Anya ever mention Halfrek again after Selfless? Why is the First so boring and unimaginative?

I have an overabundance of my shitty middle and high school drawings. They take up an obscene amount of space in my home. But I just...can't get rid of them. I might like to have more space for other things, but I just feel like I'm going to really regret it if I throw that art out. I'm approaching my mid thirties and I feel like I should be able to let cringy things I drew when I was 13 go...but I cannot.
I barely ever draw anymore, but I was once fucking prolific. Most of it not even in a sketchbook, just things I drew on the back of my homework or on the lined sheets of my school notebooks. Just page after page.
And I only even ever look at these when I say to myself, "I'm going to try going through them again, surly I'll find them embarrassing enough to throw away." Sadly, no, I look and I go, "goddamn, it's not good, but there's so much of it. Where did all this energy go? How can I let go of this sheer proof that I once loved these stupid OCs so much?" That's my underdeveloped soul right there, that girl deserves for me to love and honor her and one day I hope 50 year old me looks at the things 30 year old me made and feels the exact same.

My husband went on a rant about 50 Shades of Gray last night- but not for any of the reasons you would expect.
He said, "I'm still mad about 50 Shades of Gray."
I'm like, "Yeah? Why's that?"
"I don't understand how it could have been Twilight fanfiction."
Me, realizing I haven't heard this rant and becoming intrigued, "Well the characters originally had the names and appearances of Bella and Edward, but it was alternate universe."
"Was he still a vampire in the fanfiction?"
"No, it was alternate universe fanfiction."
"Well then he would be dead because that's not how time works."
And I realized, my husband has fundamentally rejected the idea that in an alternate universe, people might have been born at times different from their birth on this timeline. Which, wild.
He was like, "There's no universe where I go to an address given by Lincoln because that's not how time works."
And I was just like, "But there are infinite universes." I've never heard him have this same problem with comic books which are ever evolving in to time lines that allow their characters to have been born in time to be adults in the current modern times. In fact we had just had an argument after he told me Schooled isn't cannon to The Goldbergs and I argue passionately that Schooled is and was always intended to be cannon until the very last season of The Goldbergs decided they didn't want you to think about it.
I know he's not much of a fanficiton reader, but I really wasn't expecting him to be completely baffled and angry about the most basic alternate universe concept to the point where he knows 50 Shades was fanficiton but finds himself unable to accept it.
I'm so mad that this man won't do a podcast or youtube videos with me because we just talk about the wildest fandom shit sometimes. Like a "Breaking My Husband with Fanficiton" video would do so fucking well this man picks the weirdest things to fixate on.

AAAAAH! I actually got the Valentine Paint Brush! Question is, am I gonna use it? Man, I need to buy more pet slots, because as much as I want a Valentine pet, I've gotten really attached to all my pets as they currently are- even my basic color Kougra and Aisha.

With Resident Alien season 3 FINALLY airing, I'd like to recirculate the video I made on why people should watch it. Unfortunately season 3 was shortened and is the final season, but I'm very hopeful that they were given enough episodes to finish out in a satisfying way.

A truly late review of the BOOK The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes. Still have not seen the film actually and I'm pretty okay with that. I'll see it one day when it's convenient and there's nothing better to do.

Humans are so interesting sometimes.
This is all anecdotal, but I've seen a lot of instances where people just assume if they haven't seen a thing then it doesn't exist.
Like- when I worked in bridal alterations at a big name retailer, it felt like every single day I had at least one person tell me, "Sewing is a dying art" and or "It's nice to see a young person sewing because young people don't do this." (or the ever infuriating "Aren't you too young to be a seamstress?") I'd even hear it from a range of ages, not just older folks.
Yet since I went to an art college, and hang out in a community of sewers in my social life, and constantly search out sewers online for advice and inspiration, I am aware that sewing is not in danger of dying as either a hobby or a profession. These folks just don't happen to know sewers, and don't seek them out at all. So their experience seems to tell them that no one is sewing.
But the real question is, have you sought out young people who are sewing?
And I'm not immune to this seemingly natural process of assumption. Shit, I originally started wanting to do youtube book reviews because I said to myself, "Well no one is doing that, so I should do that." This was back in 2010- and as many of you might know based on that year, I of course immediately started seeing video book reviews in lots of places and discovered some of the people who had been doing it since the invention of youtube. I went, "Ah, that was a fucking stupid assumption." I carried on with doing my own videos because I wanted to and that's fine, but I understood I wasn't inventing a genre like I had naively hoped.
I don't really have a point to talk about it other than that the lesson is to maybe Google something real quick before before saying, "Someone should make this thing" or "no one is doing this anymore." If you really find something that's underrepresented, don't tell anyone and capitalize on that shit (just joking, mostly.)
Oh the other one I used to hear all the time, "Wow, I wish we had burlesque where I live." Cue me whipping out my phone and going to google or facebook and typing in (Name of City) Burlesque and showing them 3 shows happening that weekend. Your city mostly likely has a local burlesque/drag/cabaret scene, you just have to go look for it. And again, if it really doesn't- guess what you get to do?
