The same damn weirdos who be supporting some of the most vile shit that fandoms have to offer and telling people to not be so sensitive be the same exact ones who be writing a Harvard style essays about how toxic fandoms are because they got called a loser.
You can’t have it both ways.
It’s either fandoms should run rampant with uncalled out incest, pedophilia, rape, racism, misogyny,  homophobia, transphobia, etc because “Don’t Like, Don’t Look! Don’t be so sensitive! :)” and y’all get made fun of for it OR all that disgusting shit is addressed because its clear y’all don’t have the spine to take being called out.
So what’s it gonna be? Be a decent human being with some semblance of morals or be a weirdo that has no friends?

people will write think pieces on why they can't enjoy female characters or f/f because they aren't fuckable to them or crack "hates women so much he's gay jokes" but if someone even cracks a joke about hating men people start having a nuclear meltdown

If i may hope into your inbox rq to rant,i think there's a special kind of masculinazation queer black women go through specifically. There's this weird thing white cis wlw have where they automatically assume 'black women with a queer gender/orientation=masculine presentation' even if the bw in question is blatantly femme(remember the tomboy Megan Thee Stallion allegations💀)and it's highkey insane how they can't wrap their heads around the fact that black women can be girlypops and softgirls as much as any other queer women and i can only imagine how much worse it is for femme black trans women
Like for me i'm bigender and genderfluid along with being bi so i understand why people would assume i want to be masc on first meeting but a quick look at my blog or talking with me will make it very obvious i'm a dude but not the slightest bit masculine and that's absolutely influenced by my black womanhood but white woman fragility makes the idea of unlearning misogynoir 'scary'🙄Ntm my white trans girl friends have been way more normal about me and guys like me than cis girls so that adds to my opinion that transfem and black woman friendships are almost inherent and the overlap between transmisogyny and misogynoir. They think it's 'allyship' but the thing is almost no black woman ever asks to be masculineized
All of this is so true!!!
And then there's the fact that whenever you see Black wlw rep in media, they are almost always butch/stud or on the androgynous/masculine side, and while that does deserve rep, you hardly see femme Black wlw nearly as much, especially when they're paired with a non-Black or lighter-skinned Black girl who will almost always be the femme to their butch, it feels like Black wlw almost never get to be the feminine one.
A lot of white wlw I've seen tend to assume that Black wlw must be masculine, often so that they can be the more feminine one and it's unfair. Plus I feel like Black femme lesbians in particular face a DOUBLE form of femme invisibility that other femmes do not, because while femmes in general are read as straight or seen as having straight-passing privilege(which we do not), Black femmes often face both where we are assumed to be straight feminine girls or we are seen as not being "lesbian" enough because we're femme when Black lesbians must be studs. And it's unfair. And also I wish there was a term specifically for Black femme lesbians the way Black masc lesbians have stud, that was common and widespread, but I also just know that if a term like that did exist, then it would just be co-opted by non-Black femmes anyway, just like non-Black mascs try to do with stud.
I feel too that my femmeness is def influenced by my Black womanhood as well so I see where you're coming from. And I also agree that Black girls and trans girls(esp Black trans girls) should be friends because our oppression, although not identical, has a lot in common on the grounds that we are both denied womanhood by the white gender binarist society.
I wish this was a thing people talked about more, a lot of people act like femmes don't have any unique problems or that we are privileged for being straight-"passing" or having "so much representation" in media, when that is not the case and especially ignores the reality of being a femme of color, especially a Black femme who has to fight to be allowed to embrace her femininity and not be seen as man-lite due to white supremacy. I feel like only other femmes and butch lesbians care about our struggles but that the wider non-lesbian/non-wlw society doesn't? Especially with a lot of lgbt men/male-aligned people saying that the lgbt community has a "fear of/aversion to" masculinity which is complete bullshit(unless you're referring to butch/masc/stud women of course). But we need to start having this conversation! So thank you for bringing it to my attention!

Help a multiply disabled bisexual brown Latina pay for an urgent medical test
Tumblr media
My sister's situation with her eye has grown way worse since she had Covid recently. Turns out the reason she's become cross eyed this past few months with her eye lazy is due to miastenia gravis, which is a neuroimmune condition. Covid is known for its impact in both neurological and autoimmune conditions.
She called me crying today because she desperately needs to run some tests but doesn't have the funds. If you guys could help her we'd be over the moon. She works doing nails, and as per her work that we posted in my previous post crowdfunding for her, her work is incredible, but she keeps having it harder and harder to do it (which is her only source of income) with her eye like this.
She needs 205 USD. She's at zero right now, she had to borrow much less money from me yesterday for other medical expenses.
This is her Paypal and this is her Ko-fi.
0/205 USD

Has there ever been any manga or anime with well written female characters by female authors that are the MAIN characters and not secondary?
Well, I mean yes??? Quite a lot of them, especially if you’re looking at shoujo or josei? I’m not sure why I’m getting a question like this is some rare thing??
Here are some off the top of my head:
Akatsuki no Yona/Yona of the Dawn by Mizuho Kusanagi
The Twelve Kingdoms (based on light novels written by Fuyumi Ono)
Cardcaptor Sakura and Magic Knight Rayeath by CLAMP
Bishoujo Senshi Sailor Moon (this is very YMMV. However, I still do think Usagi and Chibiusa’s character arcs are well written even in the manga) by Naoko Takeuchi
Chihayafuru by Yuki Suetgusu
Princess Tutu (Men were involved but women were huge creative forces, Series composition and scripts were by Michiko Yokote, co-created by Ikuko Itoh who was also cheif animation director)
Kuragehime/Princess Jellyfish by Akiko Higashimura
The Rose of Versailles by Ryoko Ikeda
Basara by Yumi Tamura
Bride’s Story by Kaoru Mori
Seirei no Moribito and Beast Player Erin (based off novels by Nahoko Uehashi)
I’ve also written a couple articles on the subject that cover these and more in more detail: 13 action packed girls manga with awesome leading ladies  (out of these only the RGU anime is not by a woman) and my series on anime for the mary sue includes “josei gems”, generally written by women, and also a notation when shonen or seinen series with good leading ladies are written by women, as quite a few of them are.
For this season, Ancient Magus Bride (based on a manga by Kore Yamazaki) and Urahara (a team of mostly women, so far the writing has been pretty kiddie, but the last couple eps delved into the characters in promising ways) are both promising.

sadhoc replied to your post: So, in the wake of Magical Girl Site being the…
i’ve seen people talking about a concept for a magical girl anime where the “girls” are actually adult women who kept their magical girl powers after growing up, and having to juggle adult responsibilities and saving the world from evil
ha ha i remembered “a woman is told she’s too old to be a magical girl, keeps her powers anyway, lots of commentary on ageism and adult shit” and edited it at the exact same time you posted. A coincidence, I swear! But yeah, this. very good.

a magical girl show that tackles social issues, maybe the monsters of the week are born from fear and hatred of minorities, such as people with mental illnesses/disablies, and maybe these monsters could eventually be turned to good and help out those people they were originally meant to kill.
ooh yes, that would be a tricky but worthwhile one. SJW magical girls!

So, in the wake of Magical Girl Site being the actual worst, I’d like to issue a fun challenge to everyone: let’s talk about ideas for a dark magical girl series that isn’t a. endless gross torture porn for dudes to jack off to or b. a Madoka ripoff. No “a naive girl is tricked and learns that power comes at a PRICE!!!” No sexual assault or other cheap shock tactics. Just a magical girl series with an mature premise aimed at adults who like the genre.
I’ll get the ball rolling with a few I came up with on twitter:
-A magical girl series set in the wake of World War II or another fraught/rough time in history
-A magical girl series set in the feudal era or another era where women’s rights were severely restricted. The magical girl tries to use her powers to break down barriers for women, but discovers its not as simple as all that.
-A magical girl has to kill an innocent to save the world. She copes with the guilt and trauma that comes from being forced to make the decision. (Yes, the idea is basically “the main character is Sailor Uranus and Neptune if they’d actually killed someone”).
-A magical girl following a main character who is extremely violent with a loose moral code. (There are a few comedic takes on this concept out there- Dai Mahou Touge etc- but it would be interesting to see it played seriously)
-a magical girl series set in a post apocalyptic world. Whatever kind of apocalypse- zombies, nuclear war, you decide.
-springboarding off that- a magical girl has finally eradicated all the major monsters from the earth. The trouble is, the death toll was high and humanity is shambles now. They look to her as a saint who will to lead them into a new utopia, but she is not fond of the idea of the pressure of being their Queen. She just wants to enjoy the new peaceful earth and her victory and live her life. But she can’t disappoint the people so she takes up the job. She’s got no training in politics or anything like that though. It’s complicated, and hard, and some people are claiming she’s a tyrant. She wonders if she is. She wonders a lot of things- and like if maybe evil has returned in the form of a new girl who’s offering to take the burden off her shoulders- or is that just paranoia and PTSD talking? (also Sailor Moon inspired, you can probably tell).
-A complex political drama where a magical girl is employed to fight by the government/army and discovers it’s more corrupt and complicated than she thought (not straight up all evil, but. the shady shit you’d find in the darkest corners of most governments).
-A magical girl show that seriously explores trans issues. For instance, a trans girl discovers she can transform into a magical girl- complete with physical change that reflects the body she wants. The series could deal with a lot of things and thorny conflicts, like wanting to stay in that form, dealing with family, the girl’s journey of revealing her true self. Obviously this is a tricky story to tell (a trans woman would have to write it, I think) but I did see a similar concept in a superhero novel, so that’s the inspiration. (Dreadnought).
-A magical girl solving a increasingly disturbing murder mystery.
-A sweet magical girl is utterly transformed and is now on a bloody revenge spree- all villains beware. She’s looking for someone and she won’t stop until they’re dead. but what caused this? Can her civilian friends and loved ones hope to find out and to stop her?
-A magical girl trying to stop a war and discovering her powers that can purify monsters aren’t as effective against human greed and hatred.
-A pregnant teenager/teenage mom has been disowned by her family and finds herself on the ropes. She gains the power to become a magical girl and has to juggle that with everything else.
-A woman is told she’s too old to be a magical girl anymore. She says fuck that. Time to shake things up and wreck some shit.
Now you! Tell me your ideas! And don’t be afraid to write some original stories too! any contribution to this post is welcome.
