Maids, cleaners, janitors, and sanitation workers are all the most important people of civilization by far. Even 12 hours without them is VERY noticable and they simply need to be highly compensated for it

So I didn’t grow up in Appalachia. But my mom’s family for generations lived there with us being the first generation to not live there. This is to say that I’ve been listening to the Old Gods of Appalachia podcast, and just listening to it even though it’s fictional feels like connecting to that side. The narrator has my grandads accent, there’s reference to folklore my mom grew up hearing and telling us, even just hearing “memaw” being used commonly is nice. That being said I feel like I’m learning alot about the culture. My great grandad was a coal miner who was trapped in two cave ins and spent a long time working on rail roads. I dunno there’s something about it that feels comforting in a way. Not real sure where I’m going with this but yeah I like this podcast a lot

Cannot describe how much my cat looks like this when I have the audacity to not give her food off my plate

Oh nooo I hadn’t noticed that my cat’s automatic feeder was getting low on food so as usual she dashed off when she heard the machine start but I couldn’t hear the usual sound of her food falling into the bowl so I went to look and my poor cat was just. Sitting there. Staring at her empty food bowl. Then for a second she glanced up at me then right back to her bowl with the biggest, saddest, most bewildered eyes you could ever imagine on such a small creature. I filled her bowl and the machine right away ofc but I still feel a little guilty 😭
