We were fooled so bad you guys. I’m feeling dumb AGAHA
Tumblr media
OMG OMG GUYS GUYS
Cassie did 2 truths and a lie about chain of thorns:
one of the people who run an institute is killed by a demon
Belial flies around on a giant talking bird
one of our main core characters die and is reborn as a vampire
CASSANDRA WHAT THE HECK???
Okay the first one, this is a fact that nobody cares about- the only head of institute who matters to us right now is Will, who we know for a fact dies later (unless this is a trick, and the cot epilogue includes Will's death AGAIN but a new perspective). Either way this one is okay because nobody cares about the other heads of institutes and it doesn't seem like a lie (which is a stupid thing to say but oh well), btw could this be linked to the 'Arrival of a new shadowhunter in London'???
I think the second is the lie. we've never seen a talking bird- it sounds silly, okay??? And fine the 'bird' could be a bird demon or something, but we've never seen talking birds in tsc universe so yeah.
NOW THE THIRD, if I'm right about the second, then this is true... goodness... anyone betting on perhaps.. Matthew? First of all, 'main core characters' so I'm guessing the characters who could be this are Cordelia, James, Matthew, Kit, Thomas, Alastair, Anna, Ari?? maybe I missed some but she said 'core' so it can't include like say... Hypatia or Rosamund or whoever. Anyway- I don't think it's Cordelia, James, Kit, doubt it's Thomas, not Alastair, probably not Ari, maybe anna. BASICALLY, I find it most likely to be Matthew. Soooo... if this were true, I feel that if this was a voluntary *vampirification* in any way, or perhaps done in a drunken state- the best candidates would be Matthew and Anna (the main hell-ruelle/party goers)
WHY DOES CASSIE DO THIS TO ME???? BYE BYE I'M DONE.

The way I did not see that coming💔💔
Q&A, spoilers, COT
VERY SPOILERY. DEATH AND STUFF.
shadowbooker asked:
Hi Cassie!
I love Christoper so of course I’m devastated about what happened to him. Was his death always planned or something you came up with while writing book 3?
------
I knew Christopher was going to die before I started writing Chain of Gold. There are a few hints I think in Thorns, but I wanted his death to be unexpected, to hit our characters out of nowhere — and to hit the readers the same way. But indeed, the reason Alexander, his little brother, exists is partly simply so we would know who carries on the Lightwood line down to Alec etc. — because it was never going to be Christopher.

YESSSSSS, I GOT IT RIGHTTTTT
So proud of myself ngl
Sooo, time go I promised I would write something about charles’s personality, and here we are, 3 month after. Charles has lowkey always interested me, not gonna lie I wanted to know what happened to him to have such a shitty personality. I saw many people blaming charlotte for being an absent parent, but imo it has nothing to do with that, I think it’s more related to his sexuality. I warn you, this is gonna be a long essay; let’s start:
Charles was conscious of his sexuality since he was really young. At the beginning he thought there was nothing wrong with it, but eventually, being so close with the conclave, he realized it was. So what is the point? He was a gay man in a deeply homophobic society.
hypothesis n. 1
Charles always aspired to be a politician; he was inspired by his mother, the most important personality among the shadowhunters, and he always wanted to do something good for his people, just like her. Being so close with charlotte, charles grew and became a liberal man with the same ideals as his mother, but then something happened during his adolescence: he became aware of his sexuality, and after that everything changed.
We can sum it up in some phases:
Phase 1: charles discovers his sexuality and is disgusted by it (he realizes the conclave will never accept him, jeopardising his dream to become consul)
Phase 2: he denies it and tries to force himself into liking women
Phase 3: he realizes he isn’t attracted to women and never will
Phase 4: he becomes obsessed by the fact that the conclave will never accept a gay man as consul
Phase 5: Charles decides he will marry a woman Even at the cost of sacrificing his love life
Or it could also be like this:
Charles was conscious of his sexuality since a young age, but was ashamed by it and because of the fear of not being accepted, decides to become consul and being considered important (he’s definitely got a problem with self esteem and craves for people’s validation)
Between phase 3 and 4, charles is fully convinced there is something wrong with him, having a profound impact on his psyche. Being so young and yet so close to the conclave (bigot, traditionalist and discriminant), he gets conditioned and gradually approaches their ideals, poisoning the charming and young man with liberal ideas that he once was, and becoming the Charles we all know. So he is convinced by others that his mother is a weak woman and they need a new great conclave.
Imo Bridgestock had a really important role in all of this; charles was once close to charlotte and thought women were strong, he discovered his sexuality and thought he would have never be accepted, so he approached the other members of the conclave to score political points and having more possibilities to be elected consul, but he gets conditioned by Bridgestock and becomes a man full of rage and misogyny, but most of all repressed and opportunist.
Bridgestock never liked charlotte, and knowing that her son had a high probability to become the next consul, he grabbed the opportunity.
It was not C and H’s fault, children don’t always resemble their parents (Cassie said it herself); in general there are many factors that can effect a child’s growth, and despite how much C and H tried to protect him and giving him an open mentality, charles clearly suffered external negative conditioning; think about it, he’s the consul’s son and close to conclave’s members that didn’t want a woman in power, so they brainwashed him (what I was saying before). I refuse to believe Charlotte and Henry raised him to be like that, there is absolutely no way.
I’m so sorry I wrote such a long essay, please appreciate it because I put way too time into this one :’)) (i started writing it in september, sobbing)

Also, am I the only one who was kinda disappointed with the scene where matthew confessed the sin to his parents?? I expected it to touch my soul, to make me sob, instead it was really cheap and shallow.
“I poisoned you”
“It’s alright darling, we still love you. I’m pregnant btw🥰”
“Slay”
Wtf bro. She didn’t even hug him :(
It was a really important moment and cassie ruined it like that.
Poor writing if you ask me…
I liked this book. i really did. but i’m not gonna pretned it didn’t have some major problems.
So here’s some of my suggestions on how to fix some of them. feel free to add your own!
1) drop the love triangle. no one asked for it. this series did not need a love triangle. and the fact that it dragged for over 300 pages? and for what?
maybe have james tell matthew and cordelia about the bracelet IN PARIS, but ask them not to tell anyone else because he’s not ready for that yet.
and things can still be awkward between them when they come back because james will feel guilty for ruining their trip, cordelia will feel guilty for thinking james would ever cheat and matthew would feel guilty because he saw that something was wrong but never said anything.
have the herondaisy confession happen before the christmas party so matthew would still be pushed to drink (because he sees how happy they are but he’s still in love with cordelia) and boom! so many annoying scenes are gone.
2) write the scene where herondaisy give each other the second runes. It feels wrong that we didn’t get that since cassie made such a big deal about it in ChoI.
and then when tatiana crashes the party she could say that their marriage was a sham and cordelia could ask the people who believe tatiana if they want to see her marriage runes or are they done listening to the lady with a knife to a child’s throat.
3) split the second part of the book between London, Edom and Idris. The fact that we didn’t get to see the parents’ reaction to their kids being dead, kidnapped by a prince of hell and trapped with vicious killing machines is beyond me. and the trial? charles finally stepping up and defending his family? bridgestock being fired? I think we deserve to see those moments, not just hear that they happened.
4) that secrets scene with lucie and cordelia…why? I mean why this late in the book? It was so unnecessary. If she really wanted to test their friendship she could’ve sent them to Edon BEFORE they made up.
Imagine, they have this huge fight about keeping secrets, they don’t talk to each other for a while, but then they have to work together to save james and matthew and just when they think their friendship is going to be ok, the secret demon shows up. but this time cordelia’s secret is that she knew about the bracelet before james told everyone else (because her actual secret was stupid)
5) have one more chapter before the epilogue!!! where we see the character finally grief. sure they didn’t really have time to do that before because of Belial and the Watchers, but once the dust settles they have this moment of “oh, Christopher is dead” and give him a FUNERAL!!!
(the fact that he didn’t get one feels so wrong)
and end the chapter on a solemn note and THEN give us six months later when we see them finally moving on. And you know…give us Will and Tessa finding out about the bracelet!!! (that one is personal)

AAAAAA, this is amazing 🥲
Your writing is absolutely beautiful, and this fic just confirmed it 💛
Thank you <33
Heyy, can you please write something about Charlotte and henry’s marriage? I love them so much and I’m really curious about their dynamic, especially because they thought the other didn’t love them. I think theirs is the relationship we know the least about in TID, and this really pisses me off because it’s so peculiar!
And I really wanted you to know that I you’re literally amazing at writing fics, they’re so goooood🫶🫶
Thank you💫💫
Aww you're making me blush!! That's so sweet of you, thank you so much for sending in this request <3
As you know, I love Charlotte and Henry, so I was more than happy to write this fic! I really hope you enjoy it!
Charlotte stared at her reflection in the mirror. She didn’t usually admit it, but she looked pretty. A lovely little bride, her aunt had said. She ran her fingertips under her soft veil, its golden hue matched her complexion perfectly. The cut was flattering; she didn’t have much of a figure, though the dress dissimulated it. Charlotte had never been handy with embroidery, but even she could admire the elaborate and exceedingly tidy stitches.
The dress had been her mother’s. Her mother–Charlotte’s grandmother, that is—had done the stitches herself. Charlotte had never met her, but her mother told her that she had a gift for art. She made sculptures, paintings, anything that required creating. Charlotte had inherited absolutely nothing of those gifts, her father often saying she was born too rational. He had meant it as a compliment, though Charlotte didn’t take it as such. She stared at the stitches in admiration and longing before looking back at her reflection.
She sighed. She’d never looked prettier in her entire life. Maybe it would be enough for Henry to fall in love with her. Angel knew she needed someone to love her, now that her father was no longer there to do so. And, the plain truth was that she was hopelessly in love with him. If only he returned the sentiment, maybe she could find something worth waking up for.
Only, Henry didn’t love her. And if she had let herself believe that he did, she was being incredibly foolish.
Such lovely thoughts to be having on your wedding day, Charlotte thought to herself, exactly the thoughts a bride dreams to have before walking down the altar.
Charlotte blamed her current pessimism on her father's passing, which had somehow transformed the world into something bleak and exhausting. Every night (that she didn’t have to patrol, of course) she fell asleep the second her head hit the pillow and wouldn’t wake until the next morning. She’d never slept so long in her entire life. And yet, she was still tired. She worked all day trying to understand the puzzle that is the institute.
Her father had left minimal instructions as to how exactly to run the institute, so Charlotte was left rummaging through the countless files, trying to piece together any sort of guidance as to what exactly she should be doing. And yet, no matter how hard she tried, she always came up short.
On top of that, she had a wedding to worry about. A wedding she would have been more excited for, had she known her husband-to-be loved her. Alas, Henry seemed to be nothing more than fond of Charlotte, as if she were a sibling’s pet puppy. Really, poor Henry was only doing his duty as a son and paying off his father’s debt.
Because of this, the wedding planning had been more of a burden than anything. Charlotte didn’t exactly enjoy planning such frivolous celebrations, nor did she want to celebrate the day Henry was being chained to her for life for something he didn’t even do.
Dread filled Charlotte’s stomach at the thought of that. Dread and sympathy for poor Henry. She shook her head, not wanting to think about it anymore.
She also realized, while planning her wedding, that she had no friends. She had to ask her aunt Callida to be her suggess. Before, it hadn’t mattered that she didn’t have any companions because she had always planned on asking her father to be her suggess. Now, of course, her father wasn’t here for her to ask.
Of course, Callida was incredibly sweet and had always looked after Charlotte, especially after her mother’s passing, so she could have thought of no one better to ask.
Speaking of, Aunt Callida knocked on the door and told Charlotte it was time. Charlotte took one last glance at herself in the mirror. She seemed to have gone pale, so she quickly pinched her cheeks to give them more color before nodding and following her aunt out the door.
////
Charlotte had walked down the aisle somewhat dazed, paying little attention to the guests. Her entire focus was on Henry, who was looking back at her, his expression a mix between nervousness and something else, indecipherable in Charlotte’s eyes. Nevertheless, when he smiled at her, a warm sensation filled her chest. She couldn’t help but smile back at him.
////
Charlotte looked up at Henry as the door closed behind them. The festivities were He was so much taller than she was, she had to crane her head up to see him. He looked a little bit uneasy, as if he were filled with dread. Charlotte’s heart sank.
“Henry,” she asked, “what’s the matter?”
Henry didn’t answer, he just sort of stared at her.
“Henry?” She asked, confused.
“It’s just– we don’t have to…if you don’t want to,” he trailed off.
Charlotte was even more confused. “To what?”
Henry turned an adorable shade of red. “erm– you know…”
Charlotte just stared back at him.
Now Henry looked confused. “You do know, don’t you?”
Charlotte blinked. “Henry, I have not the slightest idea what you are talking about.”
“Erm…what I’m trying to say…that we don’t,” he looked exasperated and simply blurted out “intercourse.”
“Oh,” Charlotte said, embarrassed. “Henry, I don’t really…”, she trailed off, awkwardly.
Henry’s eyes softened. “Do you know what it is?”
“Yes. Well, not really.” she said, furrowing her eyebrows. “I know what it’s for, but not exactly how it’s done.”
Henry smiled at her. “I can explain it to you, if you’d like.”
She smiled back at him. “I would like that very much.”
And so, they both sat down at the foot of the bed, their shoulders slightly touching, while Henry explained it to her. Charlotte looked up at him as he spoke, admiring him. He caught her eye and they both smiled shyly.
Once he was done, she nodded and said, “Well, to answer your previous question, I’d like to try it. That is, if you want to as well.” She added, rather timidly.
Henry smiled at her. “All right then.” He said, pressing a kiss to her temple and Angel help her, she fell even more in love with him.
They both stared up at the ceiling from where they were laying in bed, panting. Charlotte had never felt such a feeling of ecstasy in her entire life. She could never have imagined it in her wildest dreams.
She turned her head to Henry, unable to contain her grin. He sensed her looking at him and turned his head towards her as well, matching her smile with one of his own. He lifted a hand and brushed a strand of her hair away from her eyes.
“That was the most incredible thing I’ve ever experienced.” She blurted out.
Henry laughed. “I agree.”
And in that moment, Charlotte could have sworn he was looking at her with adoration. Either that or it was her imagination. Charlotte turned on her side, tucking her hands under her pillow and looked at him, a soft smile on her face.
“I didn’t know your middle name was Jocelyn.” She said.
Henry turned on his side as well. “After my mother’s parabatai.”
“What happened to her?”
Henry shrugged, “She passed away when she and my mother were young. Mother never talks about her.”
“I’m sorry.” Charlotte said.
“That’s all right. I never met her. I can’t exactly mourn her.”
“Sometimes someone’s absence speaks louder than their presence.” Charlotte said, thinking about her father and how she missed him more now than when he was alive.
Henry looked at her sincerely, likely sensing she was sad, and reached for her hand, holding it tightly. Charlotte couldn’t stop the smile that creeped into her lips, feeling thankful that Henry was there, at least. Even if he didn’t love her half as much as she loved him, at least he was there, at least he cared. And having even a piece of Henry’s heart was enough for her.

FINALLY SOMEONE SAID IT
Lucie Herondale's lawyer's response or why she's 1) not a bad parabatai 2) not too immature 3) not a "nepotism baby" who gets away with everything🔍 let's analyse
Defender mode activated since Lucie's haters' powers are growing🤺I also noticed you like my analysing posts, so let's get into it! Btw you can check my Matthew/Daisy post, I'm very proud of it☺️💅🏻If you don't wanna change your opinion - there's nothing I can do, it's your choice. But if you just interpreted some things/ character's motivation in a wrong way or you don't understand why this character is the way she is - I'll help you understand!😌✨
So! Today we'll defend my daughter and discuss some statements, that are quite popular here and on Twitter, which include her!🕵️
1) "I can't see her and Daisy being great parabatai, they don't even care about each other that much. And it seems like Lucie needs her more than Daisy needs Lucie."
Before I start my research I must admit that they didn't spend too much time together so it'd make sense if they become parabatai a bit later, so they have time to reveal all their secrets and discuss all they went through. And I believe that what's going to happen since CC announced the short story of their parabatai ceremony and it seems like it'll happen a bit after the end of CHOT😌
Don't you dare! Not after:
Tumblr media
"Cordelia cares less than—" HELLO? Cordelia's absolutely terrified to lose her. Terrified. Same with Lulu. Btw @lekawi is the first Daisy/Lucie fan and half of these arguments are hers!!!! Giving credits 💅🏻🙇🏼‍♀️
Tumblr media
Lucie's always there for Daisy, every time Daisy needs her, she's there. Except those times when she keeps a secret that she's hurt. But this trilogy is all about how secrets ruin your life😒
Tumblr media
They keep secrets from each other and that's what makes it hard for them to become closer. Secrets are the biggest evil of these books but they still have time to fight them! These two loved each other almost their whole lives.
And about Lucie's Beautiful Cordelia which some people consider "unhealthy obsession"🤨 If you read the same books as I, you know that Lucie's writing that book not because "she's too obsessed", but because Cordelia's biggest fear is being alone. She didn't have any friends and even trained alone most of the time. This book gave Daisy that feeling like you're sitting next to your friend and listening to all these funny stories.
2) "She's just so naive and acts so immature, it's annoying. She's like a loud baby"
She's like the first (maybe the 2) person who openly talks with Matthew about his alcoholism, while all his friends prefer to ignore it, which is much easier. She did it kinda dirty, she wasn't too careful with her words, but she said the truth.
She didn't try to lie or hide her true feelings after Jesse found her book. She said what she really felt that moment. Lucie🤝Thomas being those 2 people who actually know how healthy relationship works like
She was ready to kill Jesse when she found out he's being controlled by Belial. She was wise and strong enough to understand that people's lives are more important than her young love.
She was the first person who saw that Matthew actually likes Cordelia👀
She's actually the only person who acknowledged the fact that her parents and friends don't see that Matthew is far from being okay because they don't actually wanna see it.
The only "immature" thing about her is that she doesn't know what goes after the kisses. But if that's your only criteria.... What's actually wrong with you? And what do you have against loud people?😑
3) "She lies to everyone, she does necromancy and then screams "Papa😣!" and her parents are already on their way and it seems like she doesn't know what consequences are. Everyone's suffering and she's just chilling"
I—
Tumblr media
"Poor Alastair, he had such a shitty father, he deserves to have the best dad in the world, why does he have to go through all this shit all by himself?😓"
----------------------------------
"That dumb bitch Lucie's so annoying, like why her father is always there for her, trying to help her with everything, to give her the opportunity to live her best life, like???? She's so spoiled and her father just supports her? Ugh that's weird, why would he want her to be happy that's kinda stupid 🫤"
And the funniest thing is that it's said by the same people. I— I don't know how to explain it but: if your parents support you, help you with your problems and try to make your life as easy and happy as possible.... it's actually a good thing!👍
And idk where they found this "if the character doesn't suffer enough - it's not an interesting character" rule. But apparently they did. Listen, characters don't have to suffer but they have to go through struggles. Some characters, especially the main ones, usually suffer more. Some less. The main thing is not "who suffers more" it's not a competition, the main thing is the plot, the adventure, the growth of these characters.
Lucie knows, and she says about it at least twice in the second book☝🏻, that necromancy has a price. She knows about the consequences and she knows that raising Jesse has nothing to do with dark magic. That's why she did what she did. But unfortunately, we know that she'll have to pay the price anyway🙂. She'll face the consequences no matter what, there's still the whole book for her to suffer.
⚠️Light spoilers from the first 4 chapters of Chot, pls skip it if you don't wanna know anything ⚠️
She's even warning Malcolm about the price of necromancy in the chapter 2 or 3. It's not like she's considering it a game or a funny adventure. When Magnus/Will/James arrive and she wants to return to London with Jesse and explain everything to Clave - it's not because she's stupid but because as Magnus said "her heart is in the rif place". She's mature enough to consider all the facts and try to be open-minded about things she doesn't clearly understand. But lots of people in Clave.... they're dumb and anything that is more complicated than 2+4 is a danger for them.
⚠️Spoilers ended ⚠️
In conclusion: Lucie's a brave strong girl who lives in a loving healthy family. She knows which things are right and which are wrong. She's not afraid to say what's really on her mind even tho sometimes she says before she thinks. She has a strong sense of justice and a kind soul🌼 (Remember when Malcolm says Grace uses her helplessness so men help her with anything she wants, and Lucie thought that men built such a world where women often have no choice but to ask men for help). She's always there for her friends and is really trying to be "that positive person"🥹She's not really experienced and sometimes she's not sure how to act in certain situations, but she's still so young and has lots of time to learn.
#JUSTICE_FOR_LUCIE #HOME_GIRLS_ARE_NOT_BORING 😡

“Come out Fairchilds!” This implies charles’s presence I presume? I think by this point of the book Matthew and Charles have already talked, and this makes me happy bc it means charles got his redemption arc :DDD (maybe I’m overthinking but anyway).
Or this could imply the TID gang presence in the final battle, where children and parents are probably fighting together :’)))
