Bitch, I lived.
So I had a long post written - one that I meant to share last week - about medical sexism and ER docs who either don’t read or ignore their triage nurses’ notes, but I don’t think I have the spoons to open up another involved discussion about it right now. Dealing with hospital representatives trying to sweep things under the rug is exhausting enough.
Instead, I’ll just say this: I went to the ER four times in one week with the same symptoms, and the first three doctors didn’t even bother to listen to me or run the most basic scans/tests. They sent me home with diagnoses of ‘muscle pain’ and ‘anxiety’. I almost didn’t go back the last time, but when I did, the fourth doc took me seriously… and that ‘muscle pain’ and ‘anxiety’ was actually three pulmonary embolisms.
Yeah.
Took me a while to process it all and the potential outcomes had I not received treatment. I spent the first few weeks in ‘holy fuck, I could have died’ mode, but I’m now firmly into ‘bitch, I lived’ mode and I’m doing a lot of thinking about what I want life to look like from now on.

Fandom: Good Omens (TV) Rating: Teen and Up Audiences Warnings: No Archive Warnings Apply
Relationships: Aziraphale & Crowley
Additional Tags: Winter Solstice, Drinking, Post-S1, Pre-S2
Summary: Crowley pulls his arm back and drops his hand into his lap. "What's the occasion?" he says, and motions around the shop with his mug, warm liquid sloshing over the side.
“It’s the twenty-first of December,” Aziraphale answers matter-of-factly.
It takes Crowley a minute or two to catch on. “Winter solstice?” he says, and licks a drop of wassail from his thumb. “Since when does that matter to you?”

End of season 1: “They didn’t kiss so it’s queerbaiting!”
End of season 2: “They kissed but it was sad so it’s queerbaiting!”
Y’all, I am so tired. Most of the time I love being a Fandom Old, but yikes.
The story not going the way you wanted it to does not automatically make it queerbaiting. You want examples of queerbaiting? I can give them to you. I would argue, though, that this is not it.

the only time it was actually funny and entertaining when a "ship" was "confirmed" by someone who worked on the show was when someone asked rene auberjonois at a panel what the nature of quark and odo's relationship was and he replied "sexual." without elaboration

az/crowley, magic-related?
"Should have just stuck with the rabbit," Crowley says for the third time in as many minutes, as he presses a cloth to Aziraphale's still-bleeding wrist. "Really should have just-"
"Yes, I know," says Aziraphale sharply. "Stuck with the rabbit." He's not sure which of them is the most irritated, at the moment, but he can hardly be bothered to watch his tone when he's leaking blood at a somewhat alarming rate and scorching pain is radiating down to his fingertips and up to his shoulder. Infernal wounds hurt.
Crowley huffs out a sigh. "Are you sure you can't at least-"
Aziraphale cuts him off. "Oh, for heaven's sake," he says. "Yes, I'm sure." If he could simply heal it he'd have done so by now. Aziraphale shifts on the unsteady folding chair he'd sunk into once the children had all been herded back inside. One of its metal legs must be shorter than the others; he moves his foot to keep his balance and steps on a discarded cardboard party hat.
"You're the one who told me to try some 'real magic' for a change. The child loves snakes. It seemed appropriate." Aziraphale sucks in a breath as Crowley peels back the near-soaked cloth to expose a set of less-than-precise punctures surrounded by reddened, swollen skin. "Did you have to bite so hard?"
"I was having a perfectly decent nap in the shop," Crowley says, sounding anything but contrite. "Sun on my scales and everything, then the next thing I know I'm being yanked out of a hat. A hat."
"That hardly excuses-"
"You woke me up," says Crowley, tossing the cloth over his shoulder and calling up a fresh one with a snap. "I didn't think - I just reacted."
Aziraphale swallows a retort and chooses to stay silent. Crowley does, as well, but keeps a firm grip on Aziraphale's wrist until he's finally able to wipe away the blood without more welling up to take its place. He swaps out the cloth for bandages and wraps Aziraphale's wounds, tucking the ends of the roll into Aziraphale's palm to keep them secure.
"Thank you," Aziraphale says grudgingly, and follows it up a moment later with a long, slow sigh. "Look-" he starts.
"Shut up or I'll bite you again," Crowley says, and Aziraphale believes him.

Can I possibly beg some of you to prompt me? It's been quite some time since my brain has had that must-write-must-write itch, and I'm going to take advantage of it while I can.
I'm still picking away at this bingo card, aiming for a blackout. Send me a character (or characters) and a bingo square, and I'll try like hell to come up with a ficlet. Might take a few days as I'm a bit rusty, but prompts are often just what I need to get some words out. Hell, if you really want something in particular, feel free to even pick a bingo square I've crossed out already.
Fandoms I can do are Good Omens (mostly just Crowley and Aziraphale), Doctor Who (9-12), LotR/Silmarillion (mostly Finwëans and/or residents of Rivendell), and, what the hell, let's throw The Legend of Vox Machina in there too since it's been chewing on the edges of my brain.
Also? We don’t have to be mutuals for you to send me a prompt or prompts! Got an idea? Throw it at me.

as someone who has never watched any of the episode of critical role that they’re adapting into tlovm it’s very wild to me that the show will drop absolutely banger lines like “you’re at the bottom of my list” or “darling, take off the mask” or “do not go far from me” or “take me instead you raven bitch” or “i was made to pass through fire” and then i log on here and learn that they were all originally IMPROVISED in the original campaign

I think a fundamental part of online friendships that people ‘outside’ fail to understand is how comforting it is to have friends right there in your pocket who will keep you company in good times and bad, listen to your rants, let you vent, be supportive whilst offering outsider perspective…
Need to be alone but need support too? Pocket friends.
Something awful just happened and there’s nobody around for you to tell? Pocket friends.
Need to let your feelings out but don’t want people to see you ugly-cry? Pocket friends.
Keep being amazing, pocket friends. You couldn’t possibly imagine how important you are.

Sooo I'm alive. More alive than in a long time, really, but a lot of things have changed.
- I moved across the city into a beautiful new home. - I left my soul-destroying hospital job and started over in a new career with the federal government. - I opened a micro-business selling handmades. - I finally figured out (thanks to a fantastic med student) what's actually going on with my neurodivergent brain and started a treatment that's been life-altering. - I lost 105 pounds. - I adopted two kittens who fit in with the herd like they were meant to be here all along.
Yup.
