hello from fandoms past -- did you see that Shinichi and Kaitou are apparently cousins?! Their dads were identical twins separated at birth?!

Omg, Hi Kasuchi!! Yes, it’s been all over discord, especially the Magic Kaito servers. 😂

Honestly, am more furious at the ‘Toichi is Alive and faked his own death’ confirmation than the KaiShin is cousins, since that’s always been a notp for me (no offence meant to those whom it is an otp).

Am dealing with the Toichi rage via fic. Expect to see this coming up in 12 Days.

Okay, so this was specifically because of the Sky Tree case, which was the first DC manga case I’d read in over a decade.

Because you can actually see how Saguru is drawn changes during the case. From Detective Conan, Sky Tree case, first chapter:

Second chapter, you can see his neck being drawn thicker and thicker, especially in comparison:

Until end of third chapter, where his neck is now almost twice as thick as the first chapter:

And also in Sun Halo, Saguru’s neck is drawn almost as thick as Nakamori’s:

Compared to the usually thin necks of Shinichi and Kaito, (even Heiji early on) where it’s so skinny it shouldn’t support their heads, it’s kind of a weird anomaly.

There’s no real point or conclusion to the observation, but now I bet you can’t unsee it either. 😁

Experiencing an eclipse

Shadows grow weird

The hair on the back of your neck starts to prickle

Minutes before the totality hits the birds go silent and the bugs SCREAM

The danger sense in the back of your brain says something is w-r-o-n-g

Logically, you know the darkness is coming, you can track the moon’s path over the sun by the shadows on the ground and through your glasses

Totality still hits like a physical blow. The sky goes dark.

People scream, people cry.

The Sun is gone

It’s a devastating black void in the sky where warmth has always been. Horror and jubilation follow, people trying to grab photos and each other

Just as equilibrium settles, the moon shifts and the first piercing ray of sunlight is blinding.

The sun, the light returns, the sky becomes blue again.

People scatter, intent on returning home as quickly as they can.

Birds start singing again.

The shadows return to normal.

The eclipse is over.

On April 1st, Saguru came to class to find a walrus placidly sitting at Kuroba’s desk. It was wearing the school uniform top, and appeared to be reading a tablet in one flipper.

“You.” Aoko hissed, grabbing Saguru’s arm and tugging him into the classroom. “This is your fault.”

“My fault?!” He echoed in surprise. He certainly had nothing to do with Kuroba being a walrus. Nor had been around when ‘All Fools Day’ had come into existence.

“He’s gotten worse about showing off his magic since you became friends.” Aoko said stubbornly. “You’re a bad influence.”

“I’m a bad influence? On Kuroba?!” Saguru couldn’t help the shock and disbelief that flowed out.

He, a detective, was a bad influence on the Kaitou Kid. Unbelievable.

The walrus turned in their direction at Saguru’s outburst, Kuroba’s blue eyes sparkling, before Kuroba’s laughter filled the air, one flipper hitting the desktop.

Aoko pointed at the laughing walrus and glared, as if this was proof of Saguru’s bad influence.

Had an expected snow day from work today, so spent about 7 hours reading and coding about 100k words of fic. I have the original files saved from 11-17 years ago, and wow this was a blast from the past.  Shinigami Stories  Not everyone is as human as they may seem, and Conan’s a lot closer to Death than people realise. Aka the ‘everyone is youkai’ fic.  The Price You Pay For everything there is a price to pay. Heiji discovers that sometimes the price you pay isn’t what you’d expect. Aka the ‘everyone is related’ fic.  Vampyre Detectives Kudo Shin'ichi and Edogawa Conan get a strange a strange request from an even stranger person. The Kid’s been bitten by a vampire and wants their help. Aka the ‘everyone is supernatural’ fic. Also, possibly the first english Saguru/Hakuba/Aoko fic. 

Storybook Mysteries Hakuba Saguru is finding himself in trapped in stranger and stranger situations. Murder mysteries, sleeping beauties, unexpected kidnappings, in addition to surprisingly helpful phantom thieves. It’s almost like he’s stuck in some sort of strange fairy tale. Or lots of them. Aka the ‘Saguru is stuck in a lot of fairy tales’ fic.

Magic Kaito Drabble (100 words)

“I have feelings towards you.” Hakuba informed Kid, the detective’s face a grim mask, eyes burning.

“Uh…” Kid eloquently stammered. This was a bit unexpected. He didn’t know what to say or think. He was a jewel thief. He was here to steal gems, not discuss feelings.

“Annoyance mostly.” Hakuba continued, almost thoughtfully. “Occasionally anger. Awe. Disbelief. Wonder. Such as wondering how you got enough Silly String to completely immobilise the Task Force.” Kid glanced around at the various police officers sticking to the walls and ceiling, trapped like flies in a spiderweb.

Ah, okay. That was much more understandable.

Kid stopped just in front of the table holding the pendant, tipping the brim of his hat towards Ibuki-san. “Thank you for having me.” Kid said politely. Saguru had a moment of surreal insanity as he realised that the Kaitou Kid was wearing a pair of pale pink house scuffs over his polished white oxford shoes.

So I'd actually forgotten about Mother's Day in the UK being in March instead of May like in the UK/Japan, so you get an extra March chapter. And it's a Kid heist! If there are UK or Japanese holidays that you think I might be missing, let me know and I'll add them to the list. The Summer is kinda slow. Next chapter: 17 March
