Inktober 52 2024 - Week 14 - 'Sidekick'

So when thinking about what sidekicks I liked in media for this prompt, I was reminded of my all-time favourite game buddies - Wheatley.

Yes, he's an idiot. Yes, he got us into bigger pickles. And yes, he betrayed the player after being plugged into the morally questionable Aperture 'Science' testing machine.

But look, the way portal 2 pitched it to me was that me ‘n Wheatley were gonna go on adventures and have us some shenanigans. He'll probably get us into more trouble than get us out of it, but I was fully down for that.

For me, I saw the little idiot ball and was like:

*points* Fren. C:

So when he got crushed by Glados I was like:

WHEATLEY! NO! ;O;

When he came back, I was like:

WHEATLEY! BEST FEND. C8

When he betrayed us I was like :

WHEATLEY. NO. >:O

and when he finally vanished into space, I was like:

wheatley... :C

We'll likely never see his likeness again in future instalments of portal games, but I do hold a small hope he'll get out of his orbit around the moon, say sorry, be friends again and find us more trouble adventures. I love me some Glados potato buddy time, but Wheatley held more of that 'sidekick' Energy.

I AM OWED SHENANIGANS.

Oh, and who else tried to desperately catch Wheatley with their face? I mean, if the game refuses to give me an option to catch him with my hands/portal gun, I'm gonna use my face. >:C

Inktober 52 2024 - Week 12 - 'Spring'

This was a good excuse to revamp an old worm god of mine, who was the god of spring. Representing new life and metamorphosis. Some say it can change form, but only of an infantile version of whatever it changes into.

It was never my best designed worm god (I'll post the old pictures down below) so a revamp was sorely needed.

I had finished this on Tuesday but while I like the new design I felt I needed to push it more, maybe something better representing new flowers or baby birds. It's definitely caterpillar like. Then at 5am on the way to work I got an idea of how I could bring back its legs.

Already had it looking a bit saintly, so I pictured it medieval style in a bird's mouth like a saintly sacrifice. Now it's got running legs! Will tinker more with the design in the future, maybe it can bring back it's body feelers over the caterpillar legs, but will see.

BONUS DRAGON!

I got me some very nice metallic water colours and I had to try them out on a dragon painting. They look amazing!...in person. Downside; almost impossible to scan or photograph due to the shimmer. This was the best I could do, but you lose some of the effect. Oh well, this was really nice to do.

So I do believe today marks the official new moon and the start of the year of the dragon!

This is actually based on an old design I did way back in the early 2000's as part of GCSE assignment 'present a piece showing the cultures of South Asia as 'bursting with colour'." and I always wanted to revisit it one day.

Can't remember why, but I think the people at the bottom was how drab things felt outside of the colours and cultures of South Asia bursting forward? I can't actually remember what I was trying to say here. I was coming off doing a study on Barbara Kruger, so I think that influenced the people at the bottom.

Felt like doing something arty like I did a lot of back in school. Based it off a Ballan Wrasse I found washed up on the beach a little while back.
