Here it is!!! My next big project!!!

Ever since I first read Impulse (1995), I couldn't stop thinking about how it would make such a good Saturday morning cartoon. So I got to planning! I've got the entire comic laid out into 5 openings (each covering a certain arc/era of the comic). This first one covers Impulse #1-12 (including all of the Dead Heat crossover story).

I know that Meloni and Thad don't show up until later but I am not immune to classic anime op foreshadowing.

I also made sure that all of the Bart Allen Week prompts were in the video!

Day 1: Impulse '95 Cast This one is pretty self-explanatory. The video is literally about the Impulse '95 cast.

Day 2: 30th Century Meloni's cameo.

Day 3: Thad Thad's cameo (alongside Meloni).

Day 4: Mercury/Legacy A lot of the shots fit with this theme. Max Mercury shows up all throughout the animatic. And legacy counts for the part with Max and Helen as well as the comic panels with him and Bart.

Day 5: Preston's Home Movies I made a classic anime op crowd shot with Preston filming Bart and his school friends.

Day 6: Lightning Rod This one is a bit iffy, but I count the shot with Max and Savitar and the following Max and Bart shots for this because Max and Bart are totally each others' lightning rods.

Day 7: (Flash) Family/Free Day Free day is obviously this whole video, and for Flash Family, they get their own crowd shot at the end of the video

I think I'm going to leave this project as is for a little while, but I've already decided that it's going to be this year's Bartober. In October, I'm going to be making daily progress on the final animation. So that's something to look forward to :)

Bart Allen Week Day 1

So, while I really wanted to contribute to Bart Allen week, I realized I wouldn't have the time or energy for 7 unique pieces. So instead, I've decided to work on one big Bart project. So I’m starting the week with a post for day 1 and then I’ll be posting the full project at the end of the week for free day (though I did make sure all the week’s themes were accounted for in this project).

The first day's prompt is Impulse '95, so here's a character lineup for Bart and his friends/family from Impulse. (Character turnarounds are under the cut.)

For these character designs, I've really focused on making them as clear and simple as possible so that they're more easy to animate.

For Bart/Impulse I really had fun redesigning Bart's hair. As anyone who has ever drawn Bart knows, his hair is a beast of its own. There's so many approaches to drawing it, but it's still so hard to make it look like him. I like to think I did a good job making it simple enough to draw repeatedly while also giving it that Impulse flare. :) (Also he smol)

I'm still not totally happy with my design for Max. Something feels not quite there, but I don't know what. Though, I think this works well enough for the project.

Carol! I wasn't completely sure what style of hers I wanted to go with (as you can see from the alternate sketch), but I ended up using her classic sweatervest ponytail look. The back pose was probably the hardest turnaround pose for me to draw, but I got there with the help of my anatomy book. (Who knew using reference books really do help? lol)

Last but not least, Preston. His design is pretty simple, but I think it works for him. I'm not completely sold on the single stripe shirt, but it was the most identifiable outfit I saw him in when I looked through the comic for inspiration. I do like how his hair turned out though! I really leaned into bold, simplistic shapes for it, which I think works well for him.

Yeee! I needed to make more sprite recolors after yesterday, so I made sprites for Slobo, Empress, and Arrowette!

These could probably use a bit more polishing, but that's a task for future me ^^;

Day 6 - Video Game Outfits

Ahhhhh!!! After 7 straight hours working on this it's finally done!!!!! When I saw the video game prompt I knew I had to do something with the Fire Emblem: The Blazing Blade sprites. And the mage girl sprite just fit Secret so well! So... instead of just drawing one sprite of her... I decided to recolor the entire mage attack animation.... ^^;

Tbh since tomorrow's free day, I might just try and sprite the rest of the yj team as different classes (only static sprites no more animations this week xD)

Day 4 - Uniform

I will take any chance to combine dc characters with dragon ball!!! The turtle school gi is a uniform! And I just had to draw Kon in Yamcha's outfit/pose, like the vibes are all there. Also I have an overly complex au that's basically what if dbz but its dc characters and if anyone is interested in it please please pleaaaaseee ask me about it omg

Day 4 - "That one outfit you found online and saved it so you could draw a character in it later" (I took this to also mean outfits I've taken photos of)

I took pictures of the cute little kids clothes in a clothing store I went to idk a few weeks before this challenge started, so I knew right away that I wanted to draw the boys in them.

Also!!! The pattern on Kon's shirt took so long!!!! I can't believe I actually committed to it.

I wanted to draw something fancy, but wasn't in the mood to design a detailed outfit so I went to ol' reliable: women in suits.

It was super hard trying to figure out what color the shoes and stockings should be, but I got there eventually ^^; Though my favorite part of this drawing is definitely the hair!

ashdjshdksjdhskjhd This one was my favorite to draw and you can tell. Tim and Bart are dressed up as Gamma 1 and Gamma 2 from Dragon Ball Super: Superhero (silly title, I know). I'm a huge dbz fan and a huge Gohan fan so you know I was hyped when this movie came out! And I just had to combine my blorbos together.

Day 1 - Dressed in someone else from Young Justice's style

Woo! My friend @vampiregokudera is hosting an art event called Young Justice Fashion Week which is being held this week from Monday to Sunday. If you want to join in, or just see what it's all about, please check out this post on his blog for more info!

This is now the second time I've put Bart in one of Cassie's fits. I guess it just suits him ^^; Also backwards hats are still the peak! I really loved drawing Cassie in the backwards hat with pigtails.

Also, since I never got around to it last year (sorry again Timmerz...) I'm going to be posting last year's fashion week art alongside this one. So without further ado,

Yay! More Cassie! It'll be fun being able to directly compare how my art style has changed over the past year :D

Also, I drew two characters today, and I drew two characters for each day last year, but I'm probably gonna only draw one character per day for the rest of this week for my own time's sake ^^;

Bartober 2023 Day 31

Hi! I want to say that I absolutely love Bartober!I have been super excited for this year's Bartober! I was also wondering what kind of markers do you use for your Bart drawings?

Aww thank you! It really does make me so happy to see other folks enjoying Bartober alongside me :)

The markers I use are mostly prismacolors, but I've also got a few small packs of various other brands of markers that I've also been using. Though what I've learned through Bartober is that prismacolors can make a very nice even coat of ink while brush markers are usually the best for blending colors.
