I wouldn’t go so far as to say that Cherri Bomb was bad character or a “terrible friend” to Angel, per se. For one she doesn’t really understand, yet supports his choice to stay at the hotel — Hell! she even said “Okay, look, Angie. I'm glad this hotel shit is workin' for you, but you know me, bitch. I'm doin' just fine. In fact, I'm gonna fuck the next guy I see, okay? But, if you need me, you know where to find me, yeah?" She just can’t fathom why he’s even changing in the first place or the fact that he turned down their coping mechanisms — hardcore drugs , the sort to really fuck you up and take you away. — which is what they’ve always done when he was emotionally exhausted from work).

For another reason she might have felt slightly inferior when Husk told Angel to not take the drugs by saying “I ain’t the one trying to get into Heaven” and the “You wanna fuck up your progress, be my guest” You clearly see that Cherri didn’t like the fact that there was another voice in her very close friend’s ear (whether it was good or bad). and even went as far as calling him a “Buzzkill” just to shut him up.

Even after Cherri puts Husk down, Angel still shows that he is uncertain about getting high with her. He once again tells her he’s exhausted from work to which she responds without empathy and just trying to keep getting him to get high until he finally agrees.

Two things that stood out to me: 1. She clearly likes to be in control , which, yes is a little bit toxic in some situations, but also, helpful in others depending on what’s happening and who’s involved. 2. She’s actually terrified of being abandoned by her only friend because she doesn’t have any one else (besides Angel) so she’s almost dependent on him.

When Cherri Bomb told Angel “you’re supposed to be relaxing and not playing nanny”. Again, I don’t think she realises or understands how close he really cares about some of the residents in the hotel — Charlie, Niffty, Husk and Sir Pentious mainly — and probably most likely thinks of them as a burden (considering she was JUST at the hotel, specifically for Angel alone, and not for everyone else, but was bribed into it by Charlie who gave her money — another reason why I don’t like the Princess of Hell, but that’s for a different post)

<> Also, on a side note, I actually thought it was very sweet of Anthony to say that he didn’t want Niffty to end up like him 🥹 ~ he really is a good surrogate father to her

Conclusion:

Lastly, I don’t think any of this problem will matter anymore by the time Cherri Bomb joins the hotel and actually started to have some character development (just like a very sceptical and anti-hotel Angel Dust had to begin with. The same one who, I might add, DID complain to her about it; about how he was “forced” to be “sort of clean” for 2 weeks or how he thought how sad the tacky hotel was and its idea of redemption etc — so I just think Cherri is going off of what she’s been told in the pilot episode. Besides, I have reason to believe she will join later on — or at the start of S2 — because if she really does love Sir Pentious she’d want to be up with him even if it means getting redeemed)

Also point to note that she is actually has that tough Aussie energy just because

i absolutely hate how Cherri Bomb was written in the new episode

i was really excited to see her in the episode but the way she peer pressured angel just made me really dislike her character

when husk steps in when cherri offers angel drugs, cherri responds by calling him a “Buzzkill” and making fun of him being an alcoholic. husk was simply looking out for angel and if cherri truly cared about angels well-being she would understand that.

i was so excited to see cherri in this episode but she turned out to be a terrible friend to angel

Can we briefly talk about the choice to have the camera pan UPWARDS on Angel, instead of downwards? I feel like that's suppose to imply Husker is looking at Angel for more than his looks. Like he goes to/stops at his FACE, he sees him as an actual person. Meanwhile if the camera had panned downwards, it would've invoked a more sexual tone because he'd be looking over his body and stop at his croch instead.
