Loved that bit of course. So beautiful to have the Doctor get to talk about Susan in the New Series.
And it wasn't the only reference back to An Unearthly Child in the episode.
Chris Waites and the Carollers was mentioned as being a previous name of the band John Smith and the Common Men who Susan was listening to listening to in that episode. A nice touch!
Only one little continuity quibble: In An Unearthly Child (set in November) Susan said "The last five months have been the happiest of my life." implying they'd only been in 1963 that long, but this episode was set in February so she and the Doctor had obviously been there longer. I suppose we can now just assume it was just how long she'd been at the school itself rather than on the planet and in that era.

IMO since he didn't travel in the TARDIS itself he doesn't really count.
I like the character and he's definitely a worthy friend and ally of the Doctor. but companion: no, sorry.
Okay I need an answer on this:
Is Bret Vyon a companion? (In the same sense as Katarina and Sara)
I feel like he is in it for a similar time to Katarina, but like because he's a man, people don't see him as a traditional companion like Sara.
Idk I need answers

One responding to Ian saying he can't drive by kicking him out of the TARDIS is so funny. Bitch, you not knowing where you're going is 90% of the show

We've got six and just over a half days to fix the grave injustice that Ian is (currently) losing this poll massively.
Ian is amazing, go vote for him. It's what Barbara would do!
William Russell (Doctor Who)- A very charming actor, with gorgeous dimples! He's best know for being Ian, one of the first companions in Doctor Who. Also he's Alfred Enoch's father!
Anthony Stewart Head (Buffy the Vampire Slayer)- No text propaganda submitted
Additional propaganda:

Putting this here even though it's from one of their stories with Two simply because it's brilliant and it's always good to see fanart of this era.

barbara and ian's exit is an unashamedly joyful one. they laugh about the missing years! they have a pigeon chasing montage! they whisper goodbye at the sky and then run off giggling! and then as vicki laughs at their joy, too happy to let the loss of her few friends sink in, one just turns his head and very gently says that he will miss them. he will miss them.

“At first, she had been a target for ridicule: the new kid, arriving mid-year, withdrawn. ‘Dodo’ had been an unflattering nickname, coined on the spurious grounds that her north-of-London accent marked her out as stupid. It was safer than being called stuck-up. Once she had settled in and started to put the tragedy behind her, she had embraced the name and worked with cheer and enthusiasm (and the nearest she could manage a southern accent) to change its connotations.”

I’d seen the image of William Russell with his daughter in the Dalek casing and Bill Hartnell a thousand times but it turns out there’s a second one that I don’t think I’ve seen before!
