Night : the modernist

Concrete strata dotted with lights

Wisps of smoke escaping to play hide-and-seek with mischievous neon lights

Shadows running through the rain to reach a hypothetical shelter

Deafening engines in the distance

Uncertainties dotting the urban landscape

Slamming doors where life & fatigue meet

Melodic layers take possession of secret rooms

Rhythmic flights taking possession of old factories

Hidden moments of magic blossom in the night world

Free from pressure and judgment, a new life begins

Animated by music

Inhabited by modern souls

Made possible by your false, detached coolness

Sensations and emotions have evolved

crazier, more intense, freer, more thirsty for the absolute in your presence

The walls, mute, bear witness to the expression of thoughts hidden deep within each of us

The rooms, immersed in slow or frantic rhythms, see...

Bodies free and each being expresses itself without fear, protected by nocturnal melodies.

When the moment comes for shapes to reappear

sounds become different and aggressive

The city becomes diurnal again

Night : the way of voices

Howling wind for hours on end

Freezing starless night

Mysterious-sounding foreign language

Such was the unlikely trio that accompanied me that night...

Floating through unattractive streets

Hidden among the shadows of streetlamps

Both invisible and intangible

Is my presence felt as disquieting?

In my shadow take refuge the Forgotten and the Hidden

This night is special

A bearer of gifts sees me

I gain in darkness

My non-presence spreads

And encompasses her like a halo

The wind spreads around her

Protects her like an armor

A bubble of warmth surrounds her

Guiding her like a compass

I whisper the way ahead

She advances towards her new destination

With unwavering resolve, she's unstoppable

I watch her

In our wake

Forgotten & Hidden set in motion

To surround her with their dissuasive presence

She's the only one who doesn't feel the climate of the night

Her elegant gait creates a gentle melody

Warming the hearts and bodies of her fleeting guards

The fateful moment arrives

The destination is reached

The paths separate

Our protégée enters a building

A series of mechanical sounds resounds...

A melody emerges

A mysterious voice is heard

I've found my companion for the night

Wrapped in eccentric melodies Senses like waves Sometimes open inward Sometimes turned outward I'm lulled into many harmonious & mysterious languages Endless journeys await me All I have to do is let go Close my eyes & I'm carried away Sounds become images Images become stories Stories become guides Guides become kingdoms that come to life Chimerical creatures Mysteries of souls Unknown lands Elements unchained or grandiloquent Places of courage Fear Nightmares Trauma Where hope is reborn Where hope finds its strength, its origin Where melodies guide Where voices open paths The two together transport us to an elsewhere unique to each of us & when we return to the world The layers of sound draw closer Gain in power envelop us & keep us company So what we've conquered isn't lost & stays with us where we need it
