Oh, thank you so much!!! It depends on whether I'm drawing from an exact reference or not. If it's a screencap redraw for instance, I'll just trace it for the sketch and get right to painting. But if it's not a direct reference - like, if I'm referencing a photo of myself or another ref image that's not of the character - I'll just get the face as close as I can until I'm done with all the rendering. Then, if it doesn't look like the character, I use one of those faceswap apps on it for a second reference, and adjust the painting to match!
