After painting a lot of MESBG minis, sometimes you feel like you need a concentrated dosis of edge highlighing. Meet Izidkiel, the newest member of my Deathwing Terminator squad! (For those unfamiliar with Warhammer 40K: yes, that is really what they're called. GW naming is... welll.) Tried a little diamond plate greenstuff effect on the base that didn't turn out too bad either. Bonus semi-professional shot of the sergeant Raphael by my dad who's a hobby photographer. I hate it, because it is way to easy too see all the mistakes I made...

It's World Religion Day today!
There's little doubt that religions play a big role in our world, for good and for bad. This also means you can use religious themes to tell a lot of interesting stories in our fictional worlds. Luckily, there are fantasy authors who did just that.
In today’s recommendation, we highlight two fantasy stories in which the religious themes are expertly handled.

Almost a year ago I started work on our Website. She's been through a lot of rework - the most recent alteration being the left sidebar - and I'm glad to admit I'm finally happy with how she looks!
As I know that most people tend to see the mobile version of the site, I wanted to share what the site looks like on desktop. Personally, I prefer using the desktop version. It's kind of a pain to design a website that's meant to support a lot of content for mobile, and I'm a little embarrassed to admit that even though the site gets most viewed on mobile, that's the version of the site that I always end up working on last. -Lotte

"Abercrombie brings his signature style of well written prose, a nice balance of dark humour versus serious story, antihero protagonists, and blood-splashing-the-camera violence and gore. - Peter

Next week, Peter, Robin, Key and I have our first Shadowrun one-shot ever! For me, it will also be a first taste of the cyberpunk genre. Exciting! I may not have much knowledge of the game mechanics, but at least I've got  character art of my cool hacker lady ready, That's all you need to successfully escape a prison, right? - Jop

The premise of this book sounded slightly ridiculous to me, but I suspected that in Naomi Novik’s capable hands it could turn into something really fun. – Robin
Our curator Robin reviewed Naomi Novik’s A Deadly Education. Curious what she has to say about it? https://escapevelocitycollection.com/review-a-deadly-education-naomi-novik/

I painted two classic Games Workshop sculpts of Théoden, son of Thengel, king of Rohan and Lord of the Mark. I tried to give him that regal feel, but I had to resort to non-metallic paint to make the details on the armour pop. Happy with the results though! I love that you can recognise Bernard Hill's face, especially in the dismounted model. - Peter
