Twilight

He was packing his things one day, and noticed fur and mud all over his bedroll.

He assumes it's a prank and starts interrogating the other heros

They swear up and down they have no idea how his bedroll got dirty

Because they genuinely don't

It bothers him all day

Until he realizes much to his chagrin as he lays down to sleep that night that he had gotten the fur and dirt on the bedroll himself as Wolfie

He sits up and swears, and Time, who was on watch, laughs loud enough to wake the whole camp

Times that the chain forgot Wolfie is Twilight (Fluff for day 3 of Febuwhump)

Here's some fluff to soothe the soul.

Wind 

Was super tired that day 

Saw Wolfie laying down and flopped on top of the wolf

Sailor was asleep as soon as his head was resting on Wolfies side 

Twilight didn't mind, but he definitely doesn't prefer it 

It becomes a regular occurrence later, much to his chagrin 

(he doesn't really mind that much, he's just keeping up appearances)

 Warriors 

Wakes up from a nightmare 

Ends up cuddling with Wolfie 

Maybe cries a little bit 

Twilight politely doesn't bring it up the next morning 

He does keep a careful eye on Wars the next day and offers silent support 

Four 

He doesn't forget as often as the others might 

But every so often he finds himself idly scratching Wolfies ears 

Red does it most out of the colors 

But they all do it

Twilight doesn't mind 

He low-key enjoys it from time to time

Hyrule 

 Rulie sometimes forgets Twilight is Wolfie

And that Wolfie is a nice wolf 

He has startled in a sleepy state and drawn his sword on Wolfie before 

Twilight takes note to approach slower as Wolfie 

Or just transform back to his hylian form 

He would never hold it against Rulie, he understands that wolves are not the nicest  

Time 

He lives on a ranch

He for sure has been around farm dogs 

When he's super focused/distracted he’ll give Wolfie commands 

The one that got the most laughs was when Wolfie/Twi was trying to snap Time out of his own head

And Time on impulse told Wolfie “No bite.” 

Neither lived that down for a while 

Legend 

He also wakes from a nightmare 

Lege decides that he needs a walk and Wolfie goes with 

He ends up venting at some point 

Twilight never mentions the stuff Legend said that night

But makes sure that Wolfie is there to supervise more late night walks as they seem to help 

Sky

Completely forgets that Twilight is Wolfie 

Baby talk 

Skritches 

Treats 

Praise 

The whole nine yards

Twilight learns to appreciate it, despite the others teasing 

It's kind of nice to get praise just for existing sometime 

Wild 

Wild almost never forgets 

However, if injured or really out of it, he completely forgets 

Wolfie becomes like his companion in his era 

Subject to all the cuddles and silly questions and weepy venting 

Wild has admitted to Wolfie his fear of disappointing Twilight 

Twi always makes sure to reassure Wild when he's more aware of reality

Blue Thing for Winnie

It was Blue! 

Ok, most things were blue, but Winnie really liked this blue!

Plus, it was hanging perfectly in her reach! It was practically begging her to take it! It also had yellow, her other favorite color!

Ok, maybe it was the only other color, but she liked it!.

The long blue thing slid off the tree branch, and Winnie laid down to chew on it for a bit. Soft things were always better when chewed. She watched the silly people in the river for a bit, listening to the birds and wind, content. She really should wander off more often. Dodge always tried to stop her fun. 

Then, something exciting happened! One of the peoples shouted something, then came splashing out of the water towards her! The pup knew exactly what that meant! 

"Playtime!" Winnie backed excitedly. "I love playtime!"

She immediately hopped up, grabbing the blue and yellow thing and running along the riverbank happily as the noisy Hylian chased her. Chase was her favorite game!

The dog leapt over a log and turned, bowing and growling excitedly. Two other challengers had joined the game, both smaller than the first, and also wearing blue! 

"More friends!? This is the best day ever!" Winnie yipped excitedly, grabbing The Blue Thing and running through the tall one's legs, dragging The Blue Thing through the mud. She didn't mind. Mud was her favorite!

She had a lot of favorites, didn't she? Oh well! Life was too short to have only one favorite! 

The dog ran a few more laps around the riverbed with The Blue Thing when a familiar voice called her name!

"Winnie! Here, girl!"

Winnie practically tripped over her own paws, trying to turn around.

"Wolfie!" She barked excitedly, tail wagging like a fan. She looked around for her friend, but couldn't find him. Where was Wolfie?

"Come here, Winnie!" That sounded like Wolfie, but it was coming from the Hylian, who was crouched down on his knees. That wasn't Wolfie... was it? 

One of the people said something and laughed. Not-Wolfie scoffed and got down lower, opening his arms. 

“Come on, Winnie. Hugs!” 

Hugs! Winnie knew hugs! The dog raced over to Not-Wolfie and tackled him to the ground, licking his face excitedly as they landed in the mud. A quick sniff test confirmed it, Not-Wolfie was Wolfie! He just looked funny right now! 

“Wolfie! Hello friend! You look weird, but I know your smell! You smell like wolfie!” She chattered, eventually relenting in her affectionate attack and laying her head on his chest, looking up happily and wagging her tail. Wolfie gently took The Blue Thing from her, but Winnie couldn't bring herself to be upset. She was just happy her friend was here. 

— zzz — zzz — zzz — 

“Ugh, that mutt ruined my scarf.” Wars complained as he held the thoroughly muddied scarf away from himself. 

“Aw, it's not that bad, Cap! That chase was fun!” Wild said, bouncing on the balls of his feet happily, Hyrule cheering in agreement. 

“You doing ok, Rancher?” Time chuckled as he looked down at his successor and the dog. 

“I'm fine.” Twilight chuckled, petting Winnie gently and scratching her ears. “She's a good girl. It's not her fault; Blue is her favorite color.” 

“It's the best color!” Wind shouted, starting an old argument between the other heroes. Twilight didn't bother to tell them Winnie couldn't see Green, more focused on showering the young dog with affection. 

Winnie, as always, had no idea what was happening, but she liked Wolfie and the head scratches, even if he looked a little weird. 

Oh, his eyes were blue! She liked blue. It was her favorite color!

Day 2: Solitary Confinement

Link could hear his heart beating loudly in his ears.

Thump. Thump. Thump. Thump. Thump. 

How long had he been in this room? There was no way to tell how much time had passed. The only light came from the candles in the hall that flickered and cast strange shadows into his cell. It couldn't have been that long, or so he thought at first. The candles hadn't gone out or melted, and no one had come to relight any, so too much time couldn't have passed. It wasn't till he bothered to count the minutes that he realized the candles hadn't melted at all. They must have been enchanted, making them unreliable to tell time. 

There was a leak somewhere in the ceiling, dripping water into the cell. It made a sharp tapping noise that he gradually despised, going so far as to remove a sock and lay it down to muffle the sound. Eventually, the sock was soaked, and the tapping sound was back, giving him the option to sacrifice his other sock or continue to suffer the sound of slowly dripping water. 

The call was made of stone, gold, and grey. There were no other sounds other than the dripping water and the beating of his heart. He once thought he heard a rat, but that ended up being his imagination. Other times, he could have sworn he heard footsteps, or seen shadows in the hall, but again he was mistaken. 

The water drip drip dripped, and his heart thump thump thumped, driving all other thoughts from his mind. 

Drip. Thump. Drip. Thump. Drip. Thump. Drip. Thump. Drip-

“WILL YOU SHUT UP!” He screamed at no one, voice echoing against the cold walls and floors. “SHUT UP, SHUT UP, SHUT UP, SHUT UP!” He covered his ears and begged the sounds to stop. To get out of his head. To let him breathe. But still, they persisted. 

Drip, drip, drip. 

Thump, thump, thump. 

How long had he been in the cell? He had no way of knowing and no idea if rescue was getting any closer, or if he had been forgotten. 

His mind numb, Link rocked back and forth as he desperately hummed a song to himself, hands over his ears to block out the incessant dripping and beating driving him mad.

Day 1: Helpless

Ft: Wind and Twilight

The wind and rain poured down relentlessly, the sky dark and threatening, choking out light and casting all surroundings with an eerie, oppressive gloom. They had been caught by surprise by the portal, falling through and getting separated in the unfamiliar Hyrule. Wind and Twilight had been spit out near a river, and that's where the trouble had started. 

“C-Come on Twi, help me out here!" The sailor grunted with effort. Wind struggled to drag the larger hero’s frame along the muddy ground. The young hero slipped again with a yelp and fell, sliding in the dirt and scraping up his hands and knees, his own injuries aggravated and sending pain racing up his spine. With a shaky huff and wiping frustrated tears from his eyes, Wind got to his feet and took hold of his brother’s arms again, dragging him further towards the cave he had found for shelter. He finally pulled Twilight into the cave entrance out of the rain and fell to his knees with a weak sob. He nudged the older hero with a finger, then shook his shoulders, ignoring the little voice in his head that said he shouldn't shake someone with a head injury.  

“Twi, wake up.” Wind whispered weakly as he shook his brother’s shoulders. “Wake up, Twilight. Please.” 

The rancher obviously didn't respond, and Wind’s head hurt. It was cold in the cave, and his teeth chattered loudly as he laid down and curled into Twilight’s side for any possible warmth. Their combined body heat wasn't enough to stay warm, but Wind felt like he would be sick if he tried to stand again. He couldn't leave Twi alone, either, so going back for their belongings was a no-go. The sailor remembered that Rulie had said that cold was bad for injuries, or something like that, but his head felt heavy and his arm hurt and the scrapes on his knees were bleeding and he just wanted to sleep. 

“M’sorry, Twi.” Wind sniffed weakly, turning his face to bury it in the rancher’s shoulder. “M’sorry, I don't know what to do.” The young boy scrubbed his eyes as he wept, exhausted and alone. “I’m sorry I can’t do more…” 

If Twilight had been awake, he would have dried Wind’s tears and assured the kid there was nothing more he could do, and that he was proud of Wind for everything he had managed to do despite his own pain. 

But he wasn't. Wind was left to sob out his frustration and hurt as the ordonian slept, curled into his brother's side as he waited for someone, anyone, to find them.

She never told him that she decided not to watch Bridge to Terabithia after to let him emotionally recover.
