OOC INFO -- About the Player
Name & Age:
My name is Dannah and I’m 23 years old.
Preferred Pronouns:
She/Her
Timezone & Activity Level:
I am from the PST timezone, and would say my activity is probably around an eight. I do have a job, but besides working and sleeping I’m usually at least by a computer for the most part.
Anything Else:
Not really, although I’m super excited to rp Harry Potter again for the first time in years <3
IC INFORMATION
Character Name:
Charlotte (free man) Louise (renowned warrior) Davies (beloved). Charlotte was named after her great-grandmother, her middle name is the same middle name that her mom has, Davies is obviously her father’s surname, although her mother’s maiden name is Moore.
Age & Year:
Sixteen and Sixth Year. Charlotte just recently turned sixteen during the summer. It’s a bit difficult for her to comprehend that she is almost officially an adult in the Wizarding World (and almost there in the muggle world as well), but she definitely looks forward to actually being able to use magic during this next summer break. After so many years in school, she can only imagine it will be a great feeling to get to use magic outside of the castle, and although she’s certainly not ready to graduate and be done with Hogwarts, at least almost being an adult is helping her to consider thinking about the transition from student to full-fledged adult.
Birthday:
June 18, 2011, which makes Charlotte a Gemini. Geminis often have two different personalities and this rings true with Charlotte. Sometimes she can be social and ready to have fun, while other times when she’s in another mood she can be a lot more thoughtful and serious. No matter which side of her personality, she is almost always easily bored, and always open for new experiences and adventures. She likes to spend her time around people that keep her interested and are quick-witted.
Birthplace:
Although Charlotte was born in Inverness, Scotland, she actually spent the majority of her childhood in Fitchburg, Massachusetts. Her family moved back to Inverness right before her eleventh year so that she could attend Hogwarts like her father, but her dad still lives in Fitchburg, and she usually visits the United States still during her holiday breaks.
Blood Status:
Halfblood. Charlotte’s father, Roger Davies, is a pureblood wizard as far as his family is aware. Her mother is an American muggleborn witch that grew up in Colorado before attending Ilvermorny as a member of Thunderbird house.
House:
Gryffindor. Charlotte's portion of the sorting ceremony did not actually go as quickly as she would have expected. Her father was a Ravenclaw, and growing up she assumed that she would be the same because she wanted to be her father, but now looking back she knows that there was really no chance to be a Ravenclaw. That being said, the hat didn’t choose Gryffindor as quickly as she likes to pretend, and although she was nowhere near hat stall status, there was still quite a bit of a wait as she sat in front of the entire school.
Face Claim:
Phoebe Tonkin, Caitlin Stasey, Victoria Justice, Zendaya Coleman
Personality:
Charlotte has been competitive since she was extremely young. Being surrounded by professional sports for a large part of her life automatically breed the trait into her. Whenever it comes to Charlotte’s personality at school, she is often singularly focused, and reaches the point of near obsession when it comes to her quidditch team. Although she was bad before whenever she was just a member, ever since becoming the captain towards the end of her fourth year, Charlotte has always put almost all of her energy into quidditch and making sure that her team wins.
Whenever it comes to anything but quidditch, and especially when it comes to her schoolwork, Charlotte can be quite the procrastinator. It doesn’t matter how early an assignment is given, she will almost certainly be up finishing it late the night before it is due. If things don’t catch her interest, it is incredibly difficult for her to care about them or put time into them, and it is rare that she ever feels a connection with her schoolwork.
Her impulsiveness is something that Charlotte has tried to get under control for a number of years, but it is really unknown how successful she has been at achieving such a feat. Charlotte often speaks before she thinks, and more often than not this can get her into trouble. When paired with her tendency to be judgmental, it can definitely cause quite a few issues in her day to day life.
More than anything, Charlotte is stubborn and passionate about her beliefs. Once she has decided on something, it is almost impossible to change her mind or opinion. She is almost always stuck in her ways, and trying to change her thoughts is something that can only be done by Charlotte herself. Sometimes even if she knows she is wrong she’ll stick with her original ideas if only to prevent herself from having to admit that she was wrong in the first place.
Biography:
Less than two weeks after he had graduated from Hogwarts, Charlotte’s father, Roger Davies, was on his way to the United States. With all of the drama going on in the United Kingdom, his parents had wanted their only son to get out of the country, and after performing well during his Easter break during a showcase for up and coming players, the offer made by the Fitchburg Finches to have Roger come and play for them starting in the next season was just too good for him to pass up. After a successful career at Hogwarts as the Ravenclaw captain, it seemed like a natural step of progression, and he was all too excited to take part in the next phase of his life.
Roger met his future wife, Stephanie, after the young witch and a few of her friends from Ilvermorny came to watch one of the Fitchburg games. Their relationship started off rather casual, but Roger couldn’t help but fall fast for the young witch, and after she finished her last year at Ilvermorny, the eighteen and nineteen year old quickly married. Roger had grown up in a climate of war as he had gotten older, and with so many of his friends back home getting married, it felt only natural.
Their daughter, Charlotte, was born just a couple years after they were married while the young family was back home visiting Roger’s family in Scotland. With his dedication to his American team, Charlotte grew up spending a lot of her time in the United States with occasional holidays spent in Scotland from time to time. She grew up on the side of the quidditch pitch, and her love of the sport is something that she can’t remember being without. Whether it was a match or just practice, she threw a fit if she missed a single one, and as she got older she quickly became an almost constant presence at the Fitchburg events. She was even allowed to help as she grew, although her helping was mostly just picking up equipment, but it helped her to feel useful and a part of the team.
Charlotte first made the Gryffindor quidditch team as the backup keeper halfway through her second year. Although it was far from the starting position that she wanted, she knew that it was better than most other students could hope to achieve. Even now, she contributes a lot of her early success to the help and casual training she received from the members of her father’s team who, out of the kindness of their hearts, allowed themselves to give Charlotte the time of day even though she was just a kid.
As time passed, Charlotte grew, and eventually her father transitioned from playing for Finchburg to becoming one of the coaches for the team instead. Charlotte’s presence is now almost always in Scotland, but she does try to make it to the states at least once a year to both see her dad and his team as well. It’s almost odd now that the players are about her age, and it’s a far different dynamic than the one she had had when her father was just a member of the team, as opposed to her now being the coach’s daughter.
Much to her mother’s occasional frustration, Charlotte’s focus has always been more on her sports than her education, and she doesn’t see a future for herself besides playing professional quidditch. She officially became the starting keeper for Gryffindor at the middle of her third year, and she was elected captain in May of her fourth year after the reigning captain had to step down due to grades. It’s a position that she has clung to vehemently, and having the captain badge fills her with a sense of pride more than anything else.
With it now being her sixth year, most would assume that Charlotte now would have her NEWTs to worry about, but although she knows that they are important, the last thing that she wants to do is waste her time studying for the tests, especially a year early. What she really wants to do in her future is play quidditch, and she can’t help but worry that taking time away from her team will do nothing but hurt her chances. After a devastating injury in the final quidditch cup match last year (which Gryffindor ended up losing), Charlotte truly feels like she has something to prove, and she won’t be completely happy until she feels that she has redeemed herself once and for all.
Headcanons:
(I.) Charlotte’s favorite quidditch team in the world is obviously the Fitchburg Finches because it is the team that her father both played for and now coaches. However, because the majority of students at Hogwarts don’t exactly care about the United States league, Charlotte’s favorite team in the British and Irish Quidditch League is the Falmouth Falcons. She knows more than anyone how much they suck, but since she picked them as a child, she can’t just turn her back on them no matter how many games they lose.
(II.) Charlotte spent a large part of her childhood in the United States, and because of this when she first started attending Hogwarts, she had a rather strong American accent that oftentimes overpowered her Scottish one. As the years passed and Charlie spent more and more of her time at Hogwarts, her accent gradually reverted back to that of her father’s. Sometimes if she spends a lot of time in Massachusetts she will begin to develop a slightly odd combination of the two, but for the most part now, her Scottish accent is the only one able to be heard in her daily life (though she has clung to American curse words more than those popular in the UK).
(III.) One of her worst memories is actually a memory that she has little to no recollection of experiencing. She remembers the Slytherin player flying towards her, but after that everything goes black until she woke up in the Hospital Wing. Charlotte was absolutely devastated to learn that her team lost the Quidditch Cup, and although she won’t admit it to her team, she is fully of the belief that they would have won if she would have been playing. Ever since she has become all the more determined to win the cup in her final year, and she’s ready to do whatever it takes to achieve her final goal.
(IV.) Charlotte goes by quite a few nicknames, and people are usually more likely to call her by her nicknames than her actual full name. Granted, there are a few that still call her Charlotte, but they are few and far between. Charlie is the most common throughout the common room, and there are also a few members on the quidditch team refer to her as Charles or Char after a joke from two years ago that just never went away. She does, however, try to stay away from the nickname Lottie after it was used a few years ago to try and draw an irritated reaction out of her. She’s also just not quite sure how she feels about such a cutesy name being used by her friends. As far as she is concerned, Charlotte is already girly enough without making her sound even more like a Kindergardener.
Describe Your Plan:
Right now, Charlotte’s main plan is to go to school and win the quidditch cup in her final year before getting drafted onto a professional quidditch team. That being said, my plan differs at least slightly from hers as I look towards her last year at Hogwarts. Charlotte’s NEWTs are coming up at the end of the year which are a really big deal, even if she doesn’t think so, and I would like for her to at least partially start to understand the importance of her actual education at Hogwarts before it is too late. I would also like to see her develop a few more interests outside of quidditch. Although I want her to retain her passion, and I know that she will, I think it would represent some nice character development if she comes to terms with the fact that there’s more to life than quidditch.
It would also be refreshing, in my opinion, for Charlotte to build some new relationships with other students before they graduate. Although she has quite a few acquaintances, I doubt that she has very many close friends (a handful at best and probably only one or two that isn’t on her team), and it would be nice to see her expand her horizons during her last year. Of course, it’s all pretty open depending on the plots and events and other characters that she interacts with, but at the moment at least, this is the basic and general development I would love to see for Charlotte down the road.
Writing Sample:
A flash of green and darkness were the only flashes memory that Charlotte could recall when she opened her eyes, hazel hues glued to the stone ceiling above her. The Hospital Wing was surprisingly not a place that she visited often, Charlotte usually being lucky enough to walk away from practice, matches, and general life unscathed, but the overwhelming sense of soreness throughout her entire being instantly revealed that that wasn’t the case this time around. As often happened when one woke up in a place they were unfamiliar with, it took Charlotte a few moments to remember quite exactly what had happened. As she sat up and glanced towards the pitch, a quick action that drew quite the irritated gasp from the nurse, Charlotte’s fears had been all but confirmed. She was living her greatest nightmare.
Almost as if on cue, the large door to the Hospital Wing opened, and her gaze turned from the pitch, where a few straggling students were still approaching the castle, towards the familiar faces of three of her teammates that had just entered. They looked exhausted, and soaked too from the rainstorm that had apparently passed, and Charlotte knew that she probably had nothing more than a look of utter confusion still plastered over her face.
“Did I miss it?” she questioned, knowing all too well that she had, but not quite able to accept it. There were a few mumbled confirmations before one of her beaters answered her next question before she even had a chance to vocalized it.
“I’m sorry, Charles,” he began, the sheepish look and awkward rub of the back of his next already guaranteeing the answer she was about to hear wasn’t the outcome that she wanted, “They slaughtered us.”
As it turned out, slaughter was a bit of an over-exaggeration, but frankly Charlie would have rather her team be slaughtered than to learn that they had  lost by only forty points. It was something that she couldn’t help but feel that she could have prevented, and she couldn’t help but feel like she had let her team down. As captain, she was always supposed to be there, and instead she had been knocked out cold when they had needed her most. It just wasn’t fair.
Still, she forced a smile onto her face, trying to be the leader she was supposed to be, as she stood up shakily, exploiting another angry noise from the nurse. “We’ll get them next year,” she reassured, feeling the worst for her two chasers that were graduating in June. There was a brief pause in conversation before she stretched, knowing that soreness seemed to be the worst of the remaining symptoms from her huge fall, “Go make sure people are still getting things ready for the party,” she mentioned with a smile, “I’ll be back to the common room in a bit.” Win or lose, the Gryffindors would still celebrate, and next year Charlotte wouldn’t allow anything to happen but for them to win, and she would guarantee their final quidditch party would be unlike something Hogwarts had ever seen before.
OPTIONAL INFORMATION
Wand:
Yew wood with a phoenix feather core, thirteen inches, and rigid flexibility
Yew: Yew wands are among the rarer kinds of wands, and the witches and wizards that they match with are usually unusual as well. However, although it is usually thought that those with yew wands are normally more attracted to the dark arts, that is not necessarily the case. Yew wands have been found in the possession of both heroes and villains, and those with these types of wands are usually fierce protectors of others. When users are buried with yew wands, trees often sprout to mark the graves. One thing is for certain, yew wands never choose owners that are mediocre or timid.
Phoenix feather: Phoenix feather is the rarest core type sold at Ollivander’s and this wand core is often usually the hardest to tame and personalize. The allegiance of a phoenix feather wand is usually hard won, but after succeeding, these wands are usually capable of the greatest range of magic. These wands are also famous for sometimes acting of their own accord, an action that many witches and wizards dislike about them.
Amortentia:
Cinnamon, leather, and cologne
Cinnamon: Cinnamon in general is just a scent that she really loves, and therefore she’s not surprised that it has made an appearance in her amortentia. The strongest memory of cinnamon comes from her childhood growing up when her mom was obsessed with a certain kind of cinnamon candy more than anything else. The other players on her father’s quidditch team used to give her gum a lot too when she would hang out at practice, and cinnamon was almost always the flavor that she picked.
Leather: The smell of leather is pretty self-explanatory when it comes to Charlotte. Her entire life has revolved around quidditch for longer than she can remember, and the smell of new leather equipment was something that she encountered often both as she grew up and after she officially joined the quidditch team at Hogwarts too. Leather gloves are incredibly important to her as a keeper, and she gets a new pair every year for her birthday to use during the upcoming school year.
Cologne: There isn’t a specific cologne that Charlotte has necessarily been able to pick up on, but the general warm smell of cologne is always present as one of the main scents in her amortentia. In general, it is a pretty strong underlying smell in the potion, and brings her a general sensation of comfort more than anything else.
Boggart:
Charlotte’s boggart was always causing her team to lose the Quidditch Cup (something that was both literal, and also symbolic for letting those down that she cares about). Now that she’s actually done that, or at least feels like she has with how the previous year turned out), she can’t help but wonder if her boggart has shifted form or not. She’s not exactly sure if that’s even possible, apparently she didn’t pay enough attention during the section on them, but in a way it has given her a new source of confidence. If she can survive the literal manifestation of one of her her worst fears, she’s pretty sure that she can survive just about anything.
Dementor:
Charlotte’s worst memory occurred when she was thirteen years old and staying at her grandparents’ house. Her father was attending the United States Quidditch Cup with his team, and her mom had gone along to show her support. Charlotte had been left with her American grandparents, muggles, during the days that they were away so that she could spend sometime with her American family. On the third day that her parents were gone, Charlotte’s grandmother began to experience some pain in her arm, but by the time she had admitted how serious it was to herself, it was too late. Charlotte’s grandfather had been the one to come home from work and convince his wife to go to the hospital, but even with the ambulance she never made it. Her grandmother died on the way to the hospital as Charlotte and her grandfather rushed to drive behind it to the hospital.
Patronus:
Charlotte’s patronus is a mongoose. This is a creature that represents personality traits such as courage, following one’s heart, impulsiveness, being authentic, and having a rebellious streak. Mongooses are also known for being good defenders, and defending their own against threats and attackers.

Congratulations KIRSTIN! You have been accepted as Kirianna Camden. Please go through the checklist and send in your account within 24 hours. If you need more time, make sure you send a message to the main.
I’m so glad to have another sixth year with Kirianna’s arrival, especially since she’s so different from the personalities that we have at the moment. Slytherin will surely be a difficult place for the halfbloods as time goes on, and it’ll be incredibly interesting to see how Kiri survives and keeps her sanity through it all. Welcome to Devil’s Snare!

Kirianna “Kiri” Skye Camden
Age & Year:
Sixth, Sixth Year
Birthday:
July 11th
Birthplace:
Northampton, UK
Blood Status:
Halfblood
House:
Slytherin
Face Claim:
Nina Dobrev
Personality:
As a young child Kiri was constantly laughing and joking around with her brothers and mum.  She was a free spirit who hated being told what to do and had a hard time following rules.  She was an avid learner, anything that interested her from a funny shaped cloud to the history of the long-dead muggle Roman empire, and on almost any given evening would have to be dragged out of some tree or another where she had settled herself with a book.  Three older brothers made her tough and, accident-prone as she was, there was never a time when Kiri was without at least one visible cut or bruise from the time she was a toddler.  Each year as her brothers got older she watched them go off to Hogwarts and though she loved and missed them terribly for a while, she eventually grew apart from the boys who were once her best friends in the world.  Still, she had always been sweet at heart and made new friends easily, and on those days when she played only with herself, she rarely felt truly alone.
When Kiri got older and lost her mother, her outgoing personality changed greatly.  The heartbreak of losing the person she loved most in the world crushed her, and once her father and brothers proved how little they cared for her, Kiri withdrew into herself completely.  She became shy and very introverted, rarely speaking to anyone, instead preferring the company of the family peacocks her grandmother was said to have adored. Still, as different as she seemed to other people, Kiri believed herself to be the same sarcastic, stubborn, fun-loving and slightly rebellious girl she had always been.  While she didn’t love to play the sport herself - heights were so not her thing - Kiri loved to watch the quidditch games between her brothers; they may have ignored her presence for fear of their father finding out, but they couldn’t stop her from laying on the grass below them while they tossed around a quaffle.  It relaxed and invigorated her at the same time, and it’s a love she’s held on to throughout the years.
Once at Hogwarts and away from the house that was still haunted by the ghostly memories of a family that once loved her, Kiri began to relax a little, back into her former self.  While still a bit on the quiet side, she was no longer a timid little girl afraid of an angry father.  She had grown much more into herself, and finally been able to accept herself for who she is; Kiri knew she would never be perfect, but she liked who she was and that was okay.  Yes, she stole and cheated and lied when she needed to, but she did what she had to to get by.  It had been a long time since she had learned the harsh lesson that when it came down to it nobody was going to look out for her except herself, so she took her caring and sweet side and buried it as best she could under layers of indifference and hardness, only letting her true self show through to the few friends she cared about enough to risk exposing her weaknesses to.  It’s those moments when she’s in the company of her new little makeshift family that she’s constantly smiling, laughing, and bubbly as she was when she was a little girl.
Biography:
Kiri grew up on a rather large family estate in the outskirts of Northampton, England with her parents and brothers.  Though her father worked seemingly endless hours at his job in the trade of high-priced foreign magical objects, she had a fairly normal childhood - a loving mother, three rough-and-tumble older brothers, and as much play time as she could possibly fit in.  Their home was located in a muggle community so Kiri grew up with tutors rather than attending a public school, where she would be forced to keep quiet and shrug off the questions about the odd things people had seen when passing the Camden house; as extensive as the grounds were, daring children were prone to climbing the high ivy-covered walls to spy on the mysterious family within, and every so often one would catch a glimpse of a stray bludger or the rugs shaking themselves out on the back porch.  The last thing the Camdens wanted was for their children to have to grow up lying.
While they were instructed to give a wide berth to their neighbours, Kiri and her brothers spent many weekends attending parties at the homes of their parents’ friends and coworkers.  There they got to socialize with other kids, make friends outside of each other, while the adults discussed what could only be boring topics.  It was at one of these parties, when Kiri was ten years old and her brothers had long-since been sent off to Hogwarts, that her life changed forever.  She was playing with some of the little toddlers when her mother came and dragged her quickly away, returning to the family home without her father.  Kiri was thoroughly confused, but did as her mother asked and packed a bag full of clothes, but before she was halfway done she heard the crashing of furniture and delicate decorations downstairs; running to the stairs to see the cause of the commotion, she witnessed her father standing over the very still body of her mother, splayed awkwardly on the floor.  Afraid and unsure what had happened, Kiri ran back to her room and hid.  What seemed like hours later her father came to find her, and coldly told her that her mother had left them, and was never coming back.
The next year was the loneliest of Kiri’s life.  He brothers were gone, and no matter what her father said she knew her mother would never have left her.  She had seen her mother lying on the floor, and young as she was there was no doubt in her mind that her father had murdered the only parent she had ever really known.  He ignored her now, bringing in a full time nanny to take over the caregiving Kiri’s mother had once provided, and never stayed in the same room as her for longer than he had to.  For a while it bothered her, this sudden abandonment for reasons unknown, and she cried herself to sleep for weeks on end.  There had never been any real closeness between Kiri and the man who raised her, but the fact was he was her father.
And then he wasn’t.
After months of feigned sleep and ears pressed to doors, Kiri managed to piece together enough of the story to satisfy her curiosity, and cast aside any love she still felt for the man she had lived with for the first 11 years of her life.  Around a year before she was born, the Camdens had joined some sort of social group dedicated to the purification of society; of what, she didn’t know.  That was about the time her father’s business really picked up and he began spending more and more time away from his family.  Her mother continued to go to the parties with her sons, and then she began to go alone, and stay very late into the night.  When Kiri was born her mother ceased attending the events, devoting her time instead to the newborn child, her first daughter.  Over the ten seemingly normal years that then passed, Kiri’s father had grown suspicious; he had been away for months during the time the girl would have been conceived, and even with his wife’s protesting that Kiri had been born very premature, she had weighed a perfectly average 3,000 grams.  On the night of her mother’s death, some new detail had apparently come to light about just how many late nights Mrs. Camden had spent with the social group all those years ago.  Kirianna Camden had been born out of an affair kept secret for over a decade, and the man she thought was her father disowned her for her mother’s crime.
Out of what little love he had left for her, Kiri was permitted to continue living in his house, though that was as far as his affection went.  If she spoke too much he would lash out at her, either with harsh words or, occasionally, his fists.  She never knew what he said to her brothers, but as time went on they played with her less and less.  The books in her family’s rather large library became her only friend, and the once beaming, bubbly little girl became quiet and timid, afraid to say the wrong thing.  The week of her 11th birthday brought her a letter from Hogwarts, and she couldn’t have been happier.  Mr. Camden, no doubt relieved he would no longer have to look at her, gave her enough money to buy her school supplies and sent her on her way.  That was the last time she saw him for two years.
From the train window on September first, Kiri waved only to her nanny, who had come to see her off.  The kindly old woman had tears in her eyes at seeing her young charge off on her first great adventure, but the girl felt nothing but excitement.  Hogwarts was the unknown, sure, but it couldn’t be worse than the home she was leaving behind, full of ghosts of her mother and the father she once thought loved her.  This was a chance to reunite with the old friends she had once played tag with at their parents’ parties, make a name for herself, find out where she belonged - she had to belong somewhere, and it sure wasn’t with the family she had grown up with.
Over the years Kiri spent every holiday either at the castle or with her friends’ families, returning to her own home only for the summers, wherein she did her best to avoid her brothers and father as best she could.  The easiest way to do this seemed to be by venturing out into the muggle world, spending time at their library reading their strange, non-moving books, and watching their children play odd sports on the weekends.  Over the summer she turned 15 she even went as far as to get a job at a local restaurant, where she learned how to cook a bit and, more importantly, how to blend in with muggles.  The pocket money she earned over that summer and the next bought her a cat she could take back to school with her.  It wasn’t much, but the cat became her own little family and a great comfort to the girl who had lost everything she thought she loved.
Headcanons:
(I.) Despite finding out that her father was not actually her father, Kiri has yet to discover the man she is actually related to.  On those days when she finds her mind wondering toward that missing piece of her history, she does her best to convince herself that it doesn’t matter.  Perhaps he would love her and take her in as his own, but perhaps the opposite would be true; maybe he has a family now, one that he won’t want his little accident child ruining for him.  No, she continually convinces herself, she has grown accustomed to being alone, she has her friends and her cat and that is all the family she needs.
(II.) Kiri’s three brothers (Grantham, six years older; Osias, five years older; Rhodri, four years older) were once her closest friends and some of the people she loved most in the world, but after the death of their mother and the discovery that they didn’t share the same father as they’d always believed, the boys were forced to disown Kiri as their father had, in order to remain in his good graces.  Since then they haven’t spoken to Kiri much, even once they had moved out of the family home to being their lives as adults.  Kiri is unsure whether they are aware that their father murdered their mother, and is too afraid to ask.  None of them have never tried to make contact with her since leaving Hogwarts and moving out on their own, and Kiri sees no reason to initiate contact herself.  As far as she is concerned, they are not her real family.
(III.) With her fifth year booklist came a shiny new Hogwarts prefect badge, something she had not at all expected.  Responsible, yes; reliable, yes; but Kiri had always believed herself to be concerned with herself first, and others far second.  With the exception of her friends, she really didn’t bother herself with worrying about the well-being of others, and Lord knew she had always seen rules as more of guidelines than anything else.  Still, she reasoned with herself, perhaps the point of making her a prefect was to turn that around and force her to care about others, and the rules.  Her first year as prefect was a breeze, though probably not what the Headmaster had hoped for when he chose her; she had a tendency to let her friends and housemates get away with more than they should, and frequently neglected her duty by skipping the mandatory meetings and patrols.  For her sixth year Kiri has vowed to be better, if only to look a bit more appealing for her future employers and give her something to do.
(IV.) Kirianna was named for her mother’s grandmother, an incredibly accomplished healer who had travelled the world for most of her long life in search of new herbs with magical healing properties.  Young Kiri grew up hearing hundreds of stories about her amazing great grandmother and the exotic places she had seen, which is a main reason why Kiri has always craved adventure.  Unfortunately, she never got the chance to meet her namesake and idol, the old woman having died on the very same day young Kiri was born at the ripe old age of 123, but her mother made sure Kiri knew her great grandmother had wanted her to use her wand in the hopes that it would bring the girl good luck in her travels.
OPTIONAL INFORMATION
Wand:
Aspen, 2 kelpie hairs, 9 ¼ inches, fairly rigid
Amortentia:
Vanilla, fresh rain, and very old books
Boggart:
Kiri’s biggest fear is being utterly and completely alone.  On the odd occasion when she encounters a boggart, she sees no one but herself, alone in an empty, dusty room, and is overcome with the feeling of being forgotten.
Dementor:
The worst moment of Kiri’s life was seeing her mother’s body on the floor of their front hallway, lifeless; it was the moment her whole life changed.  When she is unfortunate enough to encounter a dementor, Kiri hears the tell-tale crashing of furniture and decor she has come to associate with her mother’s desperate attempt to escape her father before she was slain.
Patronus:
In its true corporeal form Kiri produces a patronus resembling a snow leopard, a keen and powerful symbol.  It accurately reflects how she tends to fly under the radar, but when push comes to shove she explodes with potential and action.  Being so gentle and sweet, people tend to underestimate her, but on the rare occasion when she strikes they never forget how wrong they were.
Though Kiri is unsure if it is a true memory or one she conjured up in her young mind many years ago when she refused to accept that her mother was dead and her father and brothers had disowned her, the thought she uses to produce her patronus is of a picnic in their own backyard. One rare day when she was no more than seven Kiri’s father was at home rather than working, her brothers were back from school, and her mother had suggested they pack up their lunch and eat it on the grounds instead of indoors, as it was sunny. Kiri remembers her parents sitting on a classic red checkered blanket, setting out plates of food on the ground while she and her brothers played tag nearby, nearly running straight through their lunch on more than one occasion. Everyone was laughing, even their stoic father; Kiri can’t remember a happier or more care-free time in her life.

Anastasia Loretta Zabini
Age & Year:
Seventh, Seventh Year
Birthday:
April 16th
Birthplace:
Falmouth, UK
Blood Status:
Pureblood
House:
Ravenclaw
Face Claim:
Logan Browning
Personality:
Anastasia was raised a proper young lady, the perfect muggle debutante but with the bonus of being born with the gift of magic. Her mother got lucky: Ana’s quiet and calm predisposition made for an easy child to be molded. Training gave her poise when she walked and grace when she danced, but only luck in the genetic lottery gave her the natural charisma that draws people in and puts them at ease. She does everything she can to never let on about her intense fear of vexing anyone she cares about, undoubtedly stemming from a mild case of anxiety she has kept secret since childhood. An excellent work ethic almost got her placed in Hufflepuff, but Anastasia’s thirst for knowledge, to prove herself, and to make some small impact on the world convinced the Hat she was destined to be a Ravenclaw. She has never been shy, but tries to keep her head down in groups as her mother taught her a good girl should. The etiquette classes she took all throughout her childhood have stuck firmly in her mind, and it’s a very rare and concerning day when Anastasia doesn’t say please and thank you or slurps her soup at dinner.
Biography:
From birth, Anastasia Zabini was a very loved girl. Her dotting mother hosted numerous little get-togethers so all of her friends could see just what a beautiful baby she was, took the infant to every park in town so strangers could look on in envy, and bought the little girl every pretty dress she laid eyes on to accentuate the infant’s darling little features. However as the little Anastasia grew from a petite child to a young lady, her father’s affection grew less and less. He was so stressed and busy with work all the time, when he came home all he would do was sit down with the news and drink his whiskey. Anastasia tried everything to win him back, from learning to mix his drinks perfectly to making him baked Alaska at only 9 years old. When none of her efforts worked, she believed she must have made some mistake along the way and vowed never to displease anyone ever again. Little Anastasia spent much of her childhood at primary school like the rest of Britain’s children, but after school and on weekends she was rarely out of the company of both her mum and younger brother. Only a year younger than she, the two children got along surprisingly well and rarely competed for anything. Their mum brought them up to be the epitome of obedience and respect, with piano lessons and etiquette classes every Sunday until they were sent off to Hogwarts. As a trio, the family was closer than any other, and never once did Anastasia doubt she was cared for. At the end of her final year in primary school, Anastasia got her letter from Hogwarts. She spent that summer questioning her mother endlessly about the castle and all its wonders. She received a beautiful owl on her final night at home as a gift from her brother, who had saved up all his pocket money to buy it (though it still wasn’t nearly enough, so really their mother paid for it, but Ana needn’t know that part). She swore to write him every week while she was away, and to send him pictures of all the most exciting aspects of her new life at school. Upon her arrival at Hogwarts, Anastasia was sorted into Ravenclaw where she quickly befriended many people and sent pictures of all of them home to her brother. It was with those letters that Anastasia first became interested in muggle photography, a secret passion that has continued throughout her life. In her fourth year, she had the fortune of befriending one Trenton Rosier, a Slytherin she had been set up on playdates with thanks to their parents, but hadn’t particularly taken to. Now, at 15, she was enraptured by his quiet manner and charm and agreed to tutor him in divination, a subject she excelled in while he barely managed to keep his head above water. Eventually, at the end of their fifth year, Trenton asked her out out; it turned out to be the most wonderful day since her arrival at Hogwarts. The two started dating, and soon became the golden couple of Hogwarts (or at least to those who knew them). Around that time, Anastasia’s mother sent her a letter telling her daughter that her father had suffered a stroke but was recovering very quickly. Since then, Ana’s mother said, he had stopped drinking completely and become much more of the man he once was. Anastasia was delighted to hear that not only was he becoming a better husband but from the sound of it she was about to reconnect with the father she had never stopped loving, even when she felt he didn’t love her. Her last couple years at Hogwarts sailed by smoothly, and with her many Outstanding grades in her O.W.L.s Anastasia has begun pursuing a career in Department of Magical Law Enforcement, specifically Wizengamot Administration Services. She is well aware that as a witch fresh out of Hogwarts there is less than no chance of her getting onto the Wizengamot, but is planning to work her way from the bottom up, even if it means fetching coffee and fresh quills for a year or two. During the summer before her seventh year Anastasia began a correspondence with the head of the department in an effort to build rapport and, hopefully, get some tips that may help her get the inside track when it comes time for her to apply for the job.
Headcanons:
(I.) After her father recovered from his bout with alcoholism, Anastasia’s parents began spending more and more time with the old social group from her childhood, including Trenton’s parents. At first Anastasia loved to hear about the fun, thankfully alcohol-free times he was having, but over the years she started to sense his growing frustration with muggles, something even young Ana didn’t entirely agree with. She saw the merit when he told her the entire magical community was being repressed because of the muggles’ fear, but their opinions differed when it came to deciding what the appropriate action might be to correct that. Her father, and even her mother, seemed to believe brute force was absolutely necessary if wizards were ever going to be able to live their normal lives without hiding like rats, and to make matters worse, recently Anastasia has been getting a strong impression that Trenton shares that view.
(II.) Anastasia’s favourite subject in school has always been Divination. To her disappointment she wasn’t lucky enough to be born with the gift of being a seer, but hard work and a strong faith in the validity of the subject have led her to nearly the top of the class, and she has formed a bond with the Divination professor she admires so much, and sees as a mentor she can go to when she is unable to talk with her own mother. And it doesn’t hurt that Anastasia finds the view from the Divination tower to have the most beautiful sunsets in the entire castle.
(III.) Over the coming Christmas break the Zabini family is planning on taking a trip to see some family friends in America, and Anastasia couldn’t be more excited. Not that she has much interest in sitting in on the adults’ idle chit chat, but she and her brother have made plans to discover the hidden magical underworld of Salem, one of America’s oldest wizarding settlements. The history is extensive and yet there are surprisingly few books on the subject in the family library, or even the Hogwarts one, and the two youngest Zabinis have been waiting for years for this opportunity to discover it first-hand.
OPTIONAL INFORMATION
Wand:
Alder and dragon heartstring, 9 ¼", bendy
Amortentia:
Trenton’s cologne (the one she originally hated, but grew to love); cigar smoke (her father smoked Cubans); fresh baked sugar cookie (her mother nearly always had some in the oven); baby powder (she can’t wait to start her own family)
Boggart:
Not just the body, but they dying breaths of any one of her family members
Dementor:
During Christmas break of her second year, Anastasia and her brother were ice skating on a pond near their house when the ice broke and her brother fell in. Ana was petrified for a moment, unsure of what to do or how to help without falling in herself, and had it not been for a brave stranger who heard her screams and came running, it is likely her brother would have died. For years Anastasia felt horribly guilty over this day, despite her mother’s insistence that it wasn’t her fault and the only long-lasting damage little scar on her brother’s wrist.
Patronus:
A dove, symbolizing love, peace, and new life

Character Name:
Trenton Atilius Rosier
Age & Year:
Seventeen, Seventh Year
Birthday:
September 1st
Birthplace:
Oxford, UK
Blood Status:
Pureblood
House:
Slytherin
Face Claim:
Matthew Daddario
Personality:
Trenton has always been the most serious of the three boys in his family, evident even at birth. By the time he was nine he had mostly outgrown the imaginary friends, belly laughs, and wild abandon of kids his age; when he played it was to win, the only real exception being with his best friend. His loyalty to those who earn it is unbreakable, especially to his family, but he is not so easily won over. Taking after his father, he has never been a very trusting person, though as with his loyalty if someone puts in enough work he may eventually let them in. For the most part however, he tries to play things close to the vest; Trenton is a firm believer in not putting too many eggs in one basket, not even his best friend knows all of his secrets. Growing up surrounded by blood purists had the desired effect on Trenton. Both his parents were firm believers in a new order where muggles no longer had any power over wizards, no more hiding their abilities behind closed doors. All of their friends, with whom Trenton spent most weekends and even some evenings after work and lessons, believed the same. Their kids, his friends, even his brothers believed it. There wasn’t a chance he would be allowed to grow up thinking anything else, and Trenton did not disappoint. Deep down he is uncertain why he thinks purity is the most important thing about wizards, but at this point the feeling of dislike has become too ingrained into his personality for him to question it without dismantling his entire belief system.
Biography:
Long before Trenton Rosier was even a thought, his grandparents were devout supporters of the Dark Lord. During his first reign, Trenton’s grandfather was killed by aurors, leaving his young children alone with only their mother, who was forced into hiding on the mainland for many years. The kids grew up hearing many stories about how their heroic father went down fighting for the cause, rather than quietly giving himself up to the Ministry like a coward. They idolized him, and while they may have missed him dearly and wished he could have watched them grow up, none of the children had anything but respect for their father. Many years later, around the turn of the century, Marcus Rosier married a pureblooded woman whose family was close with his, and returned to the UK, just as his father would have wanted - it was a union of strategy rather than love, but it didn’t hurt that his new bride was the sole heir to a rather large estate and fortune. Not long after their marriage came the birth of their first son, Braden, and only a year later came a second, Logan. It was at that point Marcus’s tolerance of muggle oppression hit an all-time low, and he began organizing meetings with some of his closest friends to discuss the future of wizardkind. Under the pretense of being a social group, Marcus’s followers began to grow. He was very cautious only to discuss such important matters with those he knew could be trusted, and every person took time to vet before they were granted insider information. The process was slow-going, but Marcus felt that secrecy was the key to their success - the Death Eaters had lacked a certain subtlety and in the end he felt that had been the reason for their failure. He was determined to succeed where Voldemort had not. Four years after the birth of his second son came a third: Trenton. He was a strange baby from the start, and for a long while his mother feared he was ill or even mentally unbalanced; he rarely cried, laughed only for his brothers and the Nott baby who was close in age, and seemed generally uninterested in the typical toys of infants. Even as a child he seemed serious and attentive, his gaze seemingly intensely set on whatever he happened to be looking at. For months his mother refused to let him out of her sight for longer than ten minutes at a time, concerned with his abnormal behavior. As time went on and young Trenton seemed to relax, his mother grew less and less attached, exhausted from watching him so intently and constantly for so long a time. By the time he turned one, Trenton’s demeanor had changed enough that no one who met him would be able to guess the troubling start to life he had. Just before his second birthday, a ghastly rumor spread throughout Marcus’s group of purists. One of the members, assigned the duty of vetting foreign contacts in the hopes of beginning an international movement, was expecting a new baby, and there were many whispers that the timeline didn’t add up. Devoted servant to the cause, the man had been out of the country during the time the baby would have been conceived; when the girl was born her mother insisted premature labor, but many still had their doubts. She was a very attractive woman, and while at the time they had interpreted it as devotion, she had been spending a considerable amount of time with a man who was not her husband.. Marcus did his best to silence the whisperers, knowing full well the child was his. He had never truly loved his wife just as she had never truly loved him, and though she now turned her back on him save for social events, the only regret he felt was for the indiscretion had begat a halfblood child. Their sham of a marriage did not last much longer however, for the woman had long grown tired of pretending to love a man whose presence she loathed, and the insult of his affair was enough to give her the courage she needed. Homesick for her family, she divorced her husband and left their three sons in his care to return to the mainland just after Trenton’s seventh birthday. While they write each other fairly regularly, Trenton has not seen his mother in person in many years. Marcus did his best to be a strong figure his sons could follow as they grew, the way his father had been for him. Unfortunately, as he had spent most of his life not knowing his father but through the stories told by his mother, Marcus had very little idea of how to behave around his boys. Talking with them was challenging enough for him, but to be a parent? He didn’t have the slightest clue where to start. And so Trenton and his brothers grew up admiring their father, the figurehead of the Purity movement and a strong head of their household, but not really knowing the man on a very personal level. Nannies were the people who raised the Rosier boys after their mother left, and though their father did his best to parent when he knew how, Trenton may as well have been orphaned. His father took him to quidditch matches but never threw a quaffle around with him at home, bought him his own owl but rarely sent him anything. Still, having inherited so much of his father’s serious demeanor, Trenton did not mind this lack of affection as much as his brothers. There were no hugs or I love you’s, only claps on the shoulder for making the quidditch team and respectfully inclined heads for getting full marks in Transfiguration, and Trenton learned early on that the only opinion of any real importance was his own. Trenton did not cry as many first years did when they boarded the train to Hogwarts. That being said, he knew he would miss his father greatly and, not wanting to show any weakness in front of his father, when he stepped onto the train he did not look back to wave one last goodbye. Had he done so he might have seen the sadness in his father’s eyes, possibly the first real sign of delicate emotion the man had let show in a long time. Trenton was mildly excited for his new school, though having heard so much about it from his brothers it was not half the mystery to him that it was to most others. He and Zane spent the entire train ride playing exploding snap and eating as much candy from the trolly as they could possibly fit in their stomachs; what they could not finish, they stored in their trunks for later that night. After all, it was Trenton’s birthday, and he deserved some type of celebration. The Sorting Hat debated for far too long in Trenton’s opinion, before deciding to put him in Slytherin. According to it, he had potential in any of the four houses, and in fact it tried changed its mind many times before finally placing him in the house of the serpent, though its reasons had been unclear. It mentioned something about his mind being too full of other voices for him to know what is right for him, and that “Slytherins will help clear that up in no time.” To this day he hasn’t any idea what the Hat may have meant. Regardless, he joined Zane at the table decorated in green and silver, never to question its decision.
Headcanons:
(I.) Zannon Warrington has been Trenton’s best friend for longer than he can remember - the way his brothers tell it, the two have shared a fondness and playful rivalry since their diaper days. Truth be told, Trent loves Zane every bit as much as his own family members and would die for his friend without a second thought. As serious as Trent is, Zane is his polar opposite, balancing Trent out with his endless sarcasm and jokes. He frequently forces Trent to step outside his comfort zone and relax, and though he’d deny it ‘til the end, Trenton loves him for it; the majority of his happiest memories only happened because of the boy he’s come to see as his third and closest brother.
(II.) As a student Trenton isn’t top of the class, but he’s no slacker either. Some subjects, such as Transfiguration, are easy for him, while others like Divination and Potions are more of a struggle. He sees no merit in relying on soggy tea leaves or a ball full of mist to predict his future, and following potions directions to a tee is something he has to really focus on to get right. It was thanks to his poor Divination performance that he reconnected with Anastasia Zabini, the daughter of one of his father’s old friends and the future love of his life. Since becoming close with her Trenton has gotten better at hiding his loathing for Divination, but he still believes it to be an obsolete subject.
(III.) After divorcing his father and leaving her family, Trenton did not hear from his mother for years. In fact, his first letter from her did not arrive until a week before he left for Hogwarts. She explained that she still loved him and wanted what was best for him, but her life had been chosen for her and she couldn’t allow that to continue any longer. Her letter said she feared Trenton may one day be faced with the same situation, the way his father was pursuing his cause no matter the consequences; she didn’t want Trenton and his brothers to get sucked into the battle out of loyalty to their father, and invited him to come live with her. It wasn’t until that point that Trenton realized just how angry he was with his mother for being so selfish as to leave her own flesh and blood, young children no less, and not even have the decency to write until four years later. He tore up the letter and pitched it. It was another two years before Trenton decided to write her back, and the two have slowly built up their relationship since. Now the two correspond about every two or three weeks, but Trenton will never be able to fully trust her.
(IV.) Trent’s long-time closeness with Kiri Camden eventually earned him her trust, and around Christmas of his sixth year she confided in him that her mother had been involved in an affair long ago and the man she had believed to be her father wasn’t actually related to her. This thought lingered in the back of his mind for a while, nudging at some old rumors he’d heard of his own father’s infidelity around that same time. With the help of his brothers and best friend, Trent discovered that his friend’s deceased mother had run in the same circle as his father back in the day, and the two had been very close indeed. In a moment of bravery he wasn’t quite sure how he mustered, Trent asked his father for the truth and the man confirmed it, though insisted Trent was not to breathe a word to anyone, as the woman had been a halfblood and therefore impure by Rosier standards. Trent, who has long-since grown to love Kiri like the little sister he never had, has absolutely no idea how to tell her that they really are related - especially since the thing Kiri wants more than anything is a family, and their father wants nothing to do with her.
Writing Sample:
I don’t want to do this so just use the Kiri/Trenton quidditch thread
OPTIONAL INFORMATION
Wand:
Hawthorn, two unicorn foal tail hairs, 12 1/3 inches, extremely rigid
Amortentia:
Anastasia’s favourite perfume; broomstick handle polish - the weekly routine of maintaining his quidditch equipment, something he’s done since he was ten; salty sea air - it reminds him of his favourite vacation from long ago, when his family was together and happy
Boggart:
Varies between his brother’s dead body, Zane’s, Anastasia’s, and his own. Trenton fears death above all else - though his reckless competitions with Zane beg to differ; he fears the finality, the inevitability that it will happen to him and everyone he loves, and there’s nothing he will be able to do to stop it when the time comes.
Dementor:
During a family trip to South Germany when he was young to visit one of his father’s old friends, Trenton wandered off to explore the nearby forest where he was entranced by a pleasant sort of cackling a ways off. Curious and daring as he was, he set out to find the source and stumbled into an Erkling who promptly tried to catch and eat the young boy. Out of pure luck Trenton managed to outrun the creature until he was near enough the house to call for help. His brothers came running just as the Erkling caught hold of Trenton’s ankle, throwing heavy rocks at the creature until it let the small boy go free and retreated. On his worst nights Trenton sometimes still has nightmares of the rows of sharp teeth mere inches away from his face, and every time he nears a dementor he is forced to hear the high pitched cackling he once found so entrancing it nearly got him eaten alive.
Patronus:
Clouded leopard- sly, cunning, lethal, blends in well, silent but deadly. His best memory is one of a Christmas ball his father hosted a couple of years back; he invited Anastasia on one of their first real dates outside of Hogwarts. Halfway through the night he was struck with the realization that he loved her, subsequently panicked, essentially abandoned her, and when she finally tracked him down she told him - as if reading his mind - that when you love someone you do not leave her standing alone in the middle of the dance floor, especially mid-song. It was one of her more bossy moments in life, and Trenton fell even harder for her.

Tumblr media

Tumblr media
Tumblr media

Tumblr media
Tumblr media

Tumblr media
Tumblr media

Do you know who you're going to play?
I haven’t completely finished the application yet (although I’ll post it when I’m done for an example!), but I think I’m going to play Charlotte Davies, the daughter of Roger Davies, and a quidditch player through and through

Any idea when you'll be opening? I've been looking for a new HP rp for a while and this one looks great!
It really depends on how quickly we receive applications, but I’m hoping that we’ll be able to open before June!

Do you just do paras or do you also allow gif chats?
We allow both paras and gif chats! I’d say that we’d prefer a combination of both for the most part, but of course if you strongly favor one over the other, that’s okay too.

Will you have a character limit??
I’m most likely going to stick with the common rules I see around the RP world. New members can join with one character, and then can make a second character after a week of solid activity. I think that my soft limit will be three characters per person to begin with, but more characters could be created after being passed by the admin, and after making sure that already played characters are well established within the universe.

i really prefer rps with apps rather than appless, idk if the app you have posted will be the final one but i'm hoping you'll at least have an app!
I definitely am leaning towards an application as well. Although the ease of appless roleplays is nice, I’ve found in my past that they usually end up dying faster? I want Devil’s Snare to last for the long haul, and I think it’s easier for people to get an idea of other characters if they have a bio and stuff to look over too. So right now, yes, I’m definitely leaning towards an application unless I get a huge outcry of people wanting otherwise!

Hi everyone! Devil’s Snare is a brand new post-potter rp that I’m currently working on getting ready to open. That being said, I’ve noticed that the majority of Harry Potter rps in the tags are Marauders based as opposed to anything else. Therefore, I was hoping to get an idea as to if anyone would actually be interested in joining a post-potter rp? If so, I had a few more questions I wanted some opinions on to try and get a better idea of what the Tumblr rp community is looking for:
Would people prefer this rp to be skeleton based, or would all OCs be preferable?
I’m thinking about making it a bio application, but would that still get interest? Or are mainly just appless rps the only thing that people are interested in nowadays?
I was also thinking about setting it during the current year (technically starting in 2016) to avoid the main canons of post-potter like Albus, Scorpius, etc., so that everyone begins on equal footing and no characters are valued over others. Is this something people are into? Or are those canons highly preferred?
I’ve been running a supernatural species rp successfully for sixteen months, but I’ve truthfully really been missing Harry Potter. I used to rp Harry Potter years ago, but I’ve never really done it on Tumblr, so I was hoping to understand the general perspective.
Also, if anyone has general questions, please send them in! I’m just trying to find out if there’s any interest before I put a ton of time into something that nobody wants to join!!
