They realize that even having your own bed is a fairly recent luxury for anyone not super rich, right? Like, up through the 1800s it wasn’t unusual for all the siblings to sleep on one mattress.
I shared a room with my sisters until I left for college. I can’t imagine growing up differently. Yeah we fought about stupid things like music or whether or not to open the blinds, but it was nice to have someone there when you had nightmares, or to just quietly share space with.
My oldest sister recently gave her daughters the option to have their own rooms (they built an addition). Despite the older one turning 13, they decided they’d rather keep sharing. Her sons made the same call.
Kids sharing a room won’t destroy their childhood. Telling them that their childhood is ruined if they don’t have the BEST of everything will.

Bruh I didn't have my own room until I was like 12. And it was half the size of the one pictured lol

The Capuchin Crypt in Rome. These are chapels. Built from the bones of Capuchin monks. For praying. To remember the fleeting nature of life on earth and our mortality.
Tumblr media
St. Bartholomew’s in Poland. An ossuary chapel built in memory of (and with the remains of) those who lost their lives in the 30 years war, the Silesian wars, and from the various epidemics and famine that swept through Poland in the 18th century.
There are more, too. We invite people to our graves, hold the bones close, remember that we are one being, of both body and soul, and God’s goodness is found in both spirit and flesh.
Death holds no sway here, and if the dead have any issue with you, it’s that you need to live a more holy life, not that you’ve stepped on their grave.
Tired: finding a sealed tomb from Egypt or some other non white culture and declaring it cursed
Wired: doing the same for the catholics

My sister and brother-in-law came and got their cats. I’ve had them for nearly 4 months while they finished renovating their bathroom.
I’m gonna miss the little inkblots. They were my morning companions. My nap buddies. My little attention seekers. But they’re not my cats. So I had to say goodbye.
The house is already a lot quieter.
…Now I have to visit my sister more often.
…… I really hope my cat doesn’t stress-pee on things now that they’re gone.

I have seen this many times. And “I have only concerns,” gets me every time.
I recently participated in PitchTHIS! 2023 at the Ottawa International Animation Festival and came in second with my submission "The Breakfast Guild". Here's the demoreel that was made for the pitch. Special thank you to @themornal and @8edhead for providing the voice work.

Fringe takes place at Harvard.
Tumblr media
Which was actually Yale. Old campus, specifically.
As opposed to Gossip Girl, where they were all about Yale
Tumblr media
Which was actually Columbia.
Both of these shows aired while I was at Yale and I was very confused.
Not as confused as when Harrison Ford and Shia LeBoeuf drove up our library steps
Tumblr media
And ended up in our dining hall
Tumblr media
That confused the whole university.
it’s been four years since I last watched through all of Hannibal & I still think about the episode set in West Virginia where they’re literally at the beach. The beach in Grafton WV. A town notably 1,000 feet above sea level & roughly 200 miles from the nearest seawater
Like….was it supposed to be a lake….
Tumblr media
is this perhaps what someone at NBC thinks a lake in the Appalachian mountains looks like

On another bad note, H&R Block screwed up my state return so I had to pay $400 in taxes. Which is amazing that I still owe anything to my state considering a third of my income was earned and taxed in a different state.
I’m going to file an amended return this weekend. If I’m lucky, the change will get processed before they actually take money out of my account. And once the amended return is approved, I’ll be sending a copy of it to H&R Block and seeing if their guarantee actually means anything.
On a much nicer note, this weekend I learned that Vans makes their classic checkerboard shoes in women’s wide. My pair arrive tomorrow.
Fuck I need to go to bed.

I hate adderall.
I. Hate. Adderall.
Walmart is taking its sweet ass time filling my usual ADHD meds, so I had to use my (beloathed) back-up. Adderall.
I did not each lunch today. I did not leave work until 7:00 pm. I nearly didn’t eat anything for dinner. It’s 11:30 and I was compulsively washing dishes! Im supposed to be in bed!
But I can’t shut my stupid brain down. I fucking hate adderall and I’m going to feel like shit tomorrow.

Yep. Have it on good authority of many medical professionals in my family that a good chunk of why surgeons get paid the big bucks is because you are never quite sure what you are going to see when you open someone up.
The organs are (usually) all there, but they’re never quite where you expect and blood vessels and nerves are never the same between two people.

I agree she probably needs penance, but as a Catholic I’m also 99% certain that my idea of penance and the rest of the “Christians” who scoff at her conversion’s idea of penance are wildly different.
I mean it as “going to formal confession will probably do her conscience a world of good and her soul a universe of comfort” with the full expectation that the actual penance would be something like 15 minutes of prayerful contemplation. Maybe a decade or two of a rosary. Once, the priest just asked me to light a votive candle.
I think some of those “Christians” talked about above mean it as “you don’t deserve forgiveness unless you suffer.”
Just heard Allie Beth Stucky talk about the porn star who converted to Christianity and the reactions to her conversion.
I am ashamed of all the people who claim to be Christian who say her conversion isn’t legit, that she needs to do penance, that she’s just vying for attention, that she’s just trying to be respectable again. That should never be the attitude of a Christian when someone converts. We should try to support them as best we can, not degrade and deride them for their sinful pasts.
We do not know the contents of another person’s heart. No matter someone’s sins, Jesus’ saving grace can overcome it. Paul murdered people. Peter denied and betrayed Jesus. Those are the most well known examples, but there are many, many stories of people having horrible pasts and coming to Christ and leaving their sinful life behind. Jesus forgave a thief on the cross next to him. We cannot earn the label of forgiven, cannot earn a place in God’s family. That is a gift given by Christ.
If we must judge whether or not someone’s Christian, judge them by the fruits of the spirit that are present in their lives, not by their past sins.
Pray for her. Pray for all who come to Christ. Support the people in your church who are newer to the faith.

Let’s see…
Genetics- discovered by Brother Gregor Mendel, an Augustinian friar who lived in an abbey.
Heliocentricity -Theory developed by Nicolaus Copernicus, a Catholic Canon. Copernicus’ family was very religious, as out of four siblings, only one did not enter religious life. Fun fact, Copernicus also developed the quantity theory of money, a cornerstone of economics.
Big bang theory - developed by Father Georges Lamaître, a Catholic priest.
And these are just the ones I remember off the top of my head.

Talk to the card provider, whether it’s your bank or a credit card service. You should be able to cancel the charge on the payment end even if you can’t on the receiver end.
Never use Surfshark VPN
I just wanted to make this post to warn yall about it, I am not a tech genius but I wanted to get a vpn and surfshark was one I knew about so i subscribed to them because it seemed ok, that was where I fucked up.
fast forward a year and now I am trying to cancel my yearly auto-renewing subscription which costs 70 fuckin bucks, didnt find much use in surfshark as it was too laggy when using its vpn services so i go to billing and try to cancel.
there was no cancel button so that was odd, and you cant turn off auto-renew so i figure ill just get rid of my card info so it cant charge me.
i cant or at least i cant figure out how.
I go to help and find the cancellation area after scrolling past why you should keep the subscription and it tells me to contact their live support to cancel, It requires my name and gmail, I know for a fact my gmail is correct but it says its wrong and that my name is wrong no matter how many ways I enter it and I cant find a possible username anywhere on the site i could use. Its for all practical reasons impossible for me to cancel, not just the fact I cant even talk to customer support, but the people on reddit that do, talk to a bot and then the agents take months to actually turn off the subscription so it charges again and there is no refunds.
dont use surfshark VPN
