Hello and welcome to my blog. Iām hoping youāre having a wonderful festive season. Today Iāll be bringing to you another wonderful interview from a wonderful artist that goes by the name of Dan Huston. I came across Dan Huston for the first time on a website, where he was listed among the top artists, the details are quite vague to me now but I know that I had the feeling that I had to get him on my blog. I was privileged to come across him on Instagram and even more privileged to get an interview. I really loved his art because it was a breathĀ of fresh air, it was unique compared to others. His art is abstract in nature and it was quite obvious that his art all had something beneath the surface to them and I wanted him to tell it on my blog. I was also a big fan of his use of colors, my eyes were glued to his page, I was astounded. But enough talk, letās get to the art shall we?

Now, Iām glad youāve gotten to see his art for yourself. You can see exactly what I was talking about. Letās get to know Dan Huston a little better. Its time for the interview:
Q.Ā What inspired you to art?
A.Ā Iāve always been making art. When I was a kid I would draw everything, from abstract doodles to the birds I saw outside. No matter where I was in my life, I never stopped making art.
Q. How did it all start, What were your first steps into the art world?
A.Ā I began to understand that art could be a career option for me when I first took some art classes in college. After I graduated, I moved across the country to live by myself and I started to paint abstractly and post my art online.
Q. What were your hindrances when you started?
A.Ā I had a difficult time realizing what I wanted to paint. Iāve always been drawn to abstract art, but I didnāt understand that it was a viable option for me at first due to other peopleās opinions.
Q. Who/What were your supports, how did you overcome?
A. Iāve beenĀ lucky to have support from my friends and family, but Iāve always been my own best support as an artist. At a point, I realized that I was the only person who could stand in my way.Ā
Q. Your art has a unique look, whatās behind the unique look for your art and I was wondering if it gives insight of your personality?
A.Ā Iāve always loved the diverse, but repetitious shapes and colors of nature. Theyāre definitely the greatest influence on my art. And I think it does say a little about my personality! I love organized chaos.
Q. What inspires you to pick up a brush and paint?
A.Ā Seeing a painting that I thought I could only picture in my head gives me a greater feeling of satisfaction and accomplishment than anything else Iāve ever done. Ā It always keeps me going!
Q.Ā You tend to use a lot of colours, do you have favorite?
A.Ā Blues have always been my favorite, ever since I understood what colors are.
Q.Ā What do you do for leisure?
A. I love toĀ read and spend time outside in anyway I can.
Q. Do you have any role models in art?
A.Ā Georgia OāKeeffe is by far my greatest role model. Her ability to capture the shapes and colors of the natural world in an abstract way has always inspired me. I also love Kazuo Shiraga. The movement and energy in his work is beyond amazing to me.
Q.Ā Do you have any favorite painting?
A.Ā Abstraction White Rose by Georgia OāKeeffe.
Q.Ā What is your ultimate ambition with your art, an ultimate goal you plan to achieve with your art?
A. At this point itās just to keep pushing my art past what I think are my limits.
Q. If your artĀ had a voice, what does it say?
A. Something that even I would have a hard time understanding!

Merry Christmas and welcome my blog. This is the first post of the Blogger week tagged āBuilding a good lifestyle ā and as the topic suggests Iāll be talking a little on how Art is necessary to building a good lifestyleā¦ No, Iāll be letting you know how Art is Life. So get comfy and enjoy.
Before I start I want to make sure that we all have a vivid understanding of what Art means. Many of us have this picture of paintings, sculptures and drawings in our heads when the word āArtā comes up but those only fall under a category called Visual Art. Art entails more. If you google the meaning of Art, youāll probably find a lot of words flying here and there and even be more confused than when you started, so let me help out and define it in my own words: Art is the expression of the human mind in any form to be appreciated for its aesthetics or captivated by its emotional message. The key word here is expression, when you think of Art as an expression of the human mind, you understand it has a broader spectrum. In modern times, people have found new ways to express their minds so we have Poetry, Literature, Photography, Music, Sculpting, Editing, Print making, Fashion being used as Art. One thing thatās key is that as long as youāre expressing your mind to convey a message or to be appreciated for how good it looks, itās Art.

Those not so enthusiastic about Art might read the topic and wonder what Iām trying to say. āArt is Lifeā is a big claim, so let me explain. Firstly, why I know Art is life is because its a āyouā thing. Itās an expression of your mind to the world and it can either be related to or rejected either ways youāre expressing yourself. Iām a big fan of individuality and Iāve come to notice itās one of the biggest needs of man. We often tend to want to know who we are as individuals, what separates us from the crowd and I feel Art is the first step in the right direction. Consider Art as just the messenger, what you have to say is the message so in a way, Art is a way of discovering yourself. So why Art? Cause Art is unique, Art is a you thing.
Another reason to why I feel Art is life is cause of its ripple effects, cause of the message. If you think on it, Art is a means of communication from one mind to another in a way Mark Zuckerberg and Co. could never discover. Art sends genuine messages from one mind to another. Your message through art could spark a social change, people in an uncomfortable situation all receive a wakeup call from one mind through Art and all rise in one voice to make a change. Your message through Art can comfort another heart, sometimes we go through some emotions or circumstances that might seem so difficult but just knowing someone else is going through the same thing or has been through it and made it makes you feel betterā¦ So why Art? Art heals, Art speaks, Art is our natural social network.

Aside from helping another mind, Art does so much for you the sender of the message. Sometimes we go through emotions that mere words canāt express, or we got choked up by emotions that we really need to express ourselves desperatelyā¦ Art is the way. I canāt count how many times, writing a poem made me feel better and Iām sure itās the same for musicians or painters or sculptors. Art sometimes is the drug for some feelings we canāt really explain. Like, havenāt you been in some situations you canāt put your finger on? Next time, Art it out. Besides letās not forget that through Art we are leaving a legacy. Your legacy is a human factor, Ā itās not how much youāve done, itās how much people remember youāve done, and imprinting your signature on this earth with your Art is a way to leave your legacy. So why Art? Cause Art is Artā¦. Art is life.
