Everytime i see a fanart of Neil and im just screaming in my head like.
Where are his scars??? Mutilate him!!! I don’t want to see an inch of skin without scars on him! He looks horrifying and thats the beauty of him.

Andrew and Neil are two opposite ends of the same spectrum.
Andrew was subjected to every piece of institutional violence the system had to offer. Foster care abuse. Juvie. Misprescribed drugs. Abuse at rehab institute meant to help him.
And Neil existed completely outside outside that system, but he wasn't free from abuse. The mafia, fake names and the worst parts and consequences of living off the radar.
It would not have been better in either situation. 'Normal' solutions were never kind to Andrew, and all of Neil's criminal off the books lifestyle was awful.
I imagine growing up both of them thought about if their lives were different, and they are proof to each other that it would not have been better.
It rules out the what ifs and helps them move forward in the aftermath.
