i was going through my old drafts folder and i found a sketch for the second drawing! (i didn’t even remember i’d planned for this to be a set tbh)

Still processing my feelings on The Dreamer Trilogy, but Adam’s dreamt motorcycle definitely has to count for something and obviously I am more than happy to use it as an excuse for practice drawings xx

not to put too fine a point on it, but ronan asks adam to ditch school and run away with him, and leaves the garage when he’s told no. ronan sits next to adam after persephone’s death, and stays quiet when adam says he doesn’t want to talk. ronan takes off his shoes to walk with adam in the muddy fields instead of making them both go back inside. love is not about demanding compliance or dragging the other onto a level they’re not comfortable with, but about meeting each other where you are, out of a mutual need for equality. ronan and adam regularly and willingly balance the scales of their own power dynamic. they go out of their way to accommodate the other, to consider each other’s feelings, and do not pressure, force, or demand, but ask. there are countless times where their friendship is marked by asking, answering, and the other respecting that answer. adam asks ronan if he’s going to come inside to sleep or eat when ronan is mourning aurora, and ronan says no, so adam sleeps quietly beside him to keep him company. adam takes ronan’s hand when he is looking at his parents’ room, and ronan doesn’t brush him off, or walk away, or reject that love. he buries his face in adam’s shoulder, and adam rests his head atop of ronan’s, and they stand there together, supporting each other, like they always will.

the reason Adam and Ronan work is that they aren’t two broken people relying on the other to fix them, they are two broken people fixing themselves together. Their relationship is so important because it says; i have been broken and damaged but i am trying to get better and this is the person i want to get better with.
