One of my goals this years was to start blogging again but i didn't want to go back to my old wordpress blog. So I started up a fresh new blog that you can find on Medium where I mainly talk about music.

I've written four pieces so far but my favorite one is about the Youtube beat making pioneer Boonie Mayfield. Boonie was one of the first hip hop beat makers who I had ever seen create content on Youtube. Now a days you can find hundreds if not thousands of people going crazy on their beat machines but this man was one of the first on Youtube's platform to create that kind of content and he helped birth what's basically an entire sub genre on Youtube.

I've been a fan of his work for years and I never felt like he got his just due or credit. So I decided to write a piece about his career and give him some long overdue flowers.

I think my favorite thing about this track is that it's produced by Big K.R.I.T.. This doesn't sound like most of the other beats I've heard him do. But I love that he's been working with a lot of Texas artists on the production tip. He tends to bring the best out of them.

It's really hard to put into words how monumental Akira Toriyama's impact was. He legitimately shifted culture in a way not too many other people ever have. DBZ was the gateway anime for almost an entire generation of people, myself included. And the influence grew to something you can't even measure. If not for DBZ some of us probably wouldn't even have some of the friends that we do. That's how strong his work was.

Even apart from Dragonball he had a major impact on gaming with some legendary art design. As somebody who didn't grow up playing a ton of RPG's I still recognized the work he did with Chrono Trigger and Dragon Quest.

Not sure what else to say. This one hurts. RIP to the GOAT.

I'm right on this line right now. But I think I might double down and go all in. Because this office life is for the birds.

I think about this often.

People will say to me "writing is what you're supposed to do" or they'll ask me if/when I'm leaving the working person's world to step fully into a creative career and the truth is that I'm not sure that I want to do such a thing nor do I think I want to make a career out of this. I don't know what I want to do, to be honest.

Me choosing to release this work into the Universe and onto a public forum has been a bitter conflict between my desire to be seen and my desire to be seen by Someone greater than me. I want folks to care but I first need to care about myself, which I don't.
